Specialty dessert for Valentine's Day
Bob 1.

My husband and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day Dinner at Hook and Ladder. The spicy tuna bite appetizer was amazing. I could have had 3 orders of these. We had the filet (cooked perfectly) and the sea bass. We really enjoyed both dishes. They had a special dessert for Valentine's Day and it was delicious. The service was fantastic. They had several hostess' on staff that sat us promptly and we sat at a high top in the bar area (we wanted to enjoy the live music) and the two bartenders were friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menus and specialty drinks. They were so nice! Thank you to Casey, Lloyd and the Chef for a very enjoyable dinner. We look forward to coming back soon!

Escaped to the stunning rooftop at Hook & Ladder atop Hotel West & Main in Conshohocken! Pro tip: their Sweet Potato Cinnamon Old Fashioned comes with a pour so generous, it makes your aunt's holiday "splash" of bourbon look modest. Had the octopus & chorizo starter (power couple of 2025!) But the real showstopper? That sea bass was swimming in flavor heaven with its brussel sprout besties and the smoothest cauliflower puree. That ginger soy sauce though? I'm pretty sure I heard angels sing. Hotel West & Main, you've officially ruined all other dinner plans for me. My wallet might not thank you, but my taste buds are sending love letters!

This is a roof top restaurant located in a hotel in Conshocken. We dined on the patio which had a great view and ambiance. The hostess and waiter were both pleasant. My fiance enjoyed his drink, my margarita was ok, a little too watery but ok. Probably not their speciality but oh well: ) We had the ceasar salad and poached pear salad for our appetizer- both were excellent! My entree was amazing! The ginger soy chilean sea bass dish is a MUST! I ate every morsel! - LOL! The filet with the peppercorn sauce was also very tasty! We really enjoyed our dinner on a beautiful Sunday evening. I definitely recommend and will certainly be back again for dinner and dessert! Thumbs up!!!

Came in as a party of 3 on Saturday 2/15/25. We were all set on our menu selections until the waiter shared the valentines surf and turf special - 32 oz. Rib eye, 1lb. King crab leg, mash, asparagus, champs, & chocolate tasting for dessert. We went with the waiters suggestion to upgrade to the 40 oz. Tomahawk ribeye. It was all delicious and plenty of food to share between 3 women! I would like to return to try a seafood signature dish.

I had to do business in Wayne Pennsylvania so I found this hotel to stay in for the night. I did research so I ended up here for convenience, cleanliness and rates. Because this place is considered downtown, I had to park in a garage. It wasn't that simple so I had to move my car. The Calinami was good. Too much for one person so I didn't eat much of it. The salad was ok. It was fresh and it was a nice sized salad. I crushed it. The BLT was different. Even though it clearly described the dish, I didn't like the bread. It was like a consistency of Rye bread...which made a supposedly simple BLT harder to eat. The bacon pissed me off. I'm sure it was leftover bacon from someone's breakfast. I didn't eat the whole thing. I did eat the desert though and lastly, the Long Island I had was good. I felt underdressed as I realized that this place is connected to an official building and they regularly history meetings. The price I spent on this lunch was definitely enough to buy 2 people dinner. Would I come again? I would but I know now what to order. The experience overall was just ok.

Between 1812 and H&L, happy hour is splendid in Conshohocken! Great outdoor space with Adirondack chairs, grassy lawns and a sheltered space that's great for families or couples with dogs. I recommend starting at the "Sky Bar", second floor, for the impeccable Spicy Tuna. Soooo good. Then grab a beverage and lounge downstairs on the plaza.

This was the poke bowl from the hotel bar downstairs . So delish !

Updating my review after a couple of years and this place only gets better . I had dinner and drinks here yesterday and my experience was exceptional ! This has become my favorite place to dine in the area . Every single experience is outstanding . Cameron and KC ( sorry if I spelled their names wrong lol ) are super accommodating and sweet. Aside from the food being amazing every single employee you encounter is a gem . Can't wait to come back

Picked Hook & Ladder to celebrate and they crushed it. A large private party was just seated so we had a slight delay to get our table, but once we were sat it was a delight. There are helmets hanging from the roof with plants. Nice touch. The bar area is lively but we got seated in the back room in a cozy corner. Alexis is a charmer. Gave great menu recommendations and was somehow able to handle the private party plus many tables. Started with drinks, bone marrow (must order), spicy tuna bites and the hamachi crudo. Presentation of all was creative and the flavors popped. Scallops, sea bass (largest order I've ever seen) and the braised beef rib. A strong sear on all the scallops and sea bass but also so soft inside. Braised beef rib was so well cooked it fell apart with just a fork. Dessert was the bread pudding (many textures and a generous portion) plus the puff pastry with fruit. Was just hitting up Michelin starred restaurants last month, and I would say this dining experience was better.

Chips and caviar

This was a very unimpressive meal with underwhelming seasoning and flavors. For the menu prices, the food quality and flavor should be executed perfectly. The lobster bisque was flavorless and tasted like cream, not worth $15. It needed salt, and just flavor in general. The French onion soup was the only item I truly enjoyed. The tuna bites were okay. The fried rice component was flavorless and needed salt. The chips and caviar were an absolute joke. $19 for paper thin homemade "chips" that had zero crisp. The amount of caviar on each chip was laughable, and you couldn't even taste it. It added nothing to the dish and was basically for looks. The pecan pie was a small tarte that was half filled. It wasn't gooey, and the ratio of filling to crust was very off. The cleanliness was lacking. Menus were dirty. Sharing plates were dirty/dusty. The restaurant was very dusty and dust kept landing in our waters. I unfortunately wouldn't return given the high cost and lack of execution on the food.

Fantastic little place with indoor and outdoor seating- great ambiance live music and phenomenal drink collection- I ordered a Roasted Shishito Pepper Infused Suntory toki Whisky and it was great! Service was excellent, thanks Semaj, you made it a perfect night!

Hook and Ladder is a hotel bar & restaurant (in the Hotel West & Main, Conshohocken, Philadelphia) with local bartenders and wait staff. The staff are casual, friendly, and pleasantly talkative. The food is first class, the draft beer options are very respectable, and the spirits inventory is downright creative. The King Salmon is grilled, crisp, and so tasty! No, they don't give it away...but you do get what you pay for in Philly!

We decided to try Salt & Stone recently since it was a new spot and this place did not disappoint. Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted by none other than the owners. Zara & Dimitri (not great with names but I think that's what they said) were very welcoming and patient as I inquired about all the work they've done with the interior. It looks a lot nicer inside than the previous restaurant. Now the important part. The food. Absolutely incredible. I am still disappointed I didn't try this place earlier. We started with the goat cheese lollipops (amazing), Mezze, and calimari (high quality). After the first bite, I knew we were in for a great dinner. For the main course, I ordered the Rigatoni & my wife ordered the pork chop. Both were top notch. I love a good old fashioned and I enjoy other people's takes on this. Theirs was something different with a pistachio rim. It did not disappoint. These folks know what they're doing and I'm still thinking about that meal over a week later.

Worth the visit whether you are local or just passing through Conshee. My group of seven decided to try Bar Sera for a Saturday night dinner and we were not disappointed. Known for their Detroit style pizza, it was immediately a good sign when we arrived and saw a steady line of people ordering pies to go. The staff had us seated relatively quickly and took our orders promptly, setting a great tone for the night. To really experience the menu, we skipped the family style prix fixe and built our own spread of small plates and pizzas to share. That decision paid off. The arancini bites were a hit, and the calamari stood out for its unique preparation. Gochujang honey calamari was a first for all of us and it absolutely worked. The pizza is where Sera truly shines. We were blown away by the Elm Street, a deceptively simple pie with tomato sauce, Wisconsin brick cheese and pesto that delivered big flavor. The Ash Street went in the opposite direction with complexity and boldness, featuring BBQ pulled pork, jalapeño pesto, cilantro, scallions and brick cheese. Having been to Detroit and sampled true Detroit style pizza, this felt like a genuine and well executed homage. The cocktail program deserves just as much praise. Drinks like the Nightmare on Elm Street with brown butter washed bourbon, brandy, lemon, apple sage honey, almond bitters, cranberry bitters and egg white, and the Lone Ranger with fig reposado, black pepper, Grand Marnier, lemon, brown sugar and Turkish tobacco bitters wowed the table with unique and bold flavors. Overall, Bar Sera is a fantastic neighborhood spot that punches well above its weight. Great food, inventive drinks and a lively atmosphere make it well worth a visit when you are in Conshee.

But then when I was looking up their burger week menu I came across the valentines menu and it looked good, so I figured I would give it try. My husband's dinner was alot better than mine so I was eating some of his, even though we always share anyway. He got the oysters with a dragonfruit sauce and they were good. I ordered crab and corn soup with grilled focaccia bread. The soup itself was fine , but it was only half a bowl and not much crab in it. I would have liked more soup instead of the bread. I gave the bread to my husband because we got a good amount of bread for the appetizer and I didn't want to fill up too much. I probably should have ordered the calamari instead , that looked pretty good. My husband's scallops with risotto was very good. Seared perfectly, creamy risotto, good flavor. Normally that is what I like to order, but I got the crab pasta because I love crab. I was disappointed In this dish. The crab tasted a little too fishy like it went bad or something. I also got a number of shells in the crab I had to spit out. I feel like they could have mixed the crab with some kind of seasoning or flavors. It seemed like they just dumped the crab right out of the can into the pasta and didn't even clean the shells out first. And they didn't even put the pasta in any kind of sauce. I would have liked maybe a creamy sauce with it. The pasta was just in like a watery garlic broth, and it broke apart and crab went all in the water and I didn't even have a spoon to pick it up. Dessert was ok. I'm glad we got the dragonfruit cheesecake instead of the chocolate cake, it was refreshing . The tiramisu wasn't bad but it was still somewhat frozen. I was kind of surprised because we are fans of the Pieri group restaurants. We have been to their sister restaurant Stonerose for burger week for a number of years now and love it. We also came to burger week at bar sera the one year and really enjoyed theirs too. I wish they did them separate weeks so we could go to both . Maybe it was just an off night tonite. Sometimes valentines menus aren't as good as their regular menu. Maybe we learned our lesson to go out the week before valentines instead for next year.

The decor has a California farmhouse feel with lots of wood accents and open shelving. Fortunately, we were given a quieter table in the corner off the main dining room although even that room was loud. We started off with drinks and appetizers. The Orchard and Oak bourbon cocktail in a tall glass tasted like a winter drink and was slightly sweet. We shared Daisy's Nuggets which I would definitely order again. Finally, nuggets with a little heat! A few more blue cheese crumbles would have been appreciated though. We also decided to try the Smoke Show pizza which was fabulous even though I'm usually not a fan of thicker crust pizza. I especially enjoyed the combination of flavors including the ricotta on top. As an entree, my husband ordered the Short Rib Ravioli which wouldn't have been enough for him without all the appetizers as the portion was small. It seemed more like an appetizer portion than an entree. The Smash Burger, however, was a hit. Our server sang the praises of Manny's Mussels saying you could drink the broth as a soup. Unfortunately, that was not the case as the broth was too oily. Also, there weren't many mussels. Additionally, the timing of these entrees was terrible. As we were enjoying our appetizers, the mussels and burger were brought out by a food runner. It seemed as though there was no communication between the food runner and the server who later apologized for the food coming out too early. Also, despite noting it on our reservation and actually calling and speaking to someone named Lily, our birthday chocolate cake was again brought out by an oblivious food runner with no candle. I asked him to please put a candle in it, and it was brought out a second time with a candle. Additionally, our first cup of decaf was lukewarm despite our server saying she had just made a fresh pot. Our second cup was a bit warmer. Overall, we enjoyed our food and the ambiance. However, the kitchen needs a system to communicate with the servers, food runners, and reservationists in order to make it a better experience for diners.
