I can't thank Josh and the people at Skylight Specialists enough!! My partner and I work on the frontlines and in the beginning of the pandemic, we were selected for a Sun Tunnel giveaway. As an NP, I was working 12-15 hours a day and as the cases of SARS-CoV-2 continued on, my partner was equally exhausted in her work as a therapist. We rarely saw the light of day during this time. Josh Hannon was incredibly patient and worked with us amid the chaos and our ever-changing hours for installation. The installer, Paul was incredible and the Sun Tunnel is just perfect, brightening up our once-dark farmhouse dining room! This was even more appreciated after I contracted the virus and ended up in the hospital, then quarantine and prolonged recovery, requiring oxygen at home. The added brightness helped as we had to put our beloved Goldendoodle down and the ray of light highlighted the many wonderful flowers we received from loved ones and my Dad's newly restored 1960's abstract painting. It's been a difficult year and the muddy recovery from this virus is unrelenting, but I will be forever grateful for this gift of light- especially as we are now working from home as we can and the dining room is now my partner's office. 5 Stars is an understatement for the amazing experience and customer service we received. They deserve way more than just 5 stars. We experienced hail damage to our 1980's brown bubbled skylights. We were so excited to be able to get new updated clear skylights. I did lots of research looking for the right company to do our repairs. We found Skylight Specialists and decided to give them a call for an estimate quote for our insurance company. I spoke with Josh Ewing. He was very knowledgeable about the products, product options, and provided us an estimate for our insurance company quicker than expected. We decided to go through Skylight Specialists and Josh Ewing got everything handled and got our materials on order. Mike called once all the materials arrived to schedule but unfortunately our HOA decided to replace the roofs so it put our skylights on hold for a couple of months. Skylight Specialists were amazing with holding on to our materials and being patient while we waited for the roof to be replaced. Once the roof was replaced, Mike setup the install for us. Kenny and Devin arrived promptly even earlier than expected which was awesome and they completed the job sooner than I had expected. The quality of the materials, the installation, and customer service received during this whole experience was top notch. Crooks. Your roof will flood w/in 2 years. Currently in litigation to bring smooth-talking bullies to justice. They installed old/used skylights & pretended they were new. Also, they were installed incompetently. After severe water damage, an independent inspection discovered their grave disfunction. I never write reviews but wanted to save you from thousands in repair (and in our case, legal fees). read more

They had a third party do the drywall and texture, and they were wonderful; completed the entire drywall and texturing in a single day with one worker. These folks are amazing. A branch took out our skylight and left a gaping hole in our roof. I called and they looked up our house on Google Earth, determined the size and type of replacement skylight needed, and were at the house within an hour! I wanted to use skylight specialists based on the reviews of their work, but HEADACHE HEADACHE HEADACHE. It took over a month to get install date options, I selected the one that worked for me the same day. Well they double booked, so that day ended up not showing up. No call, no notification, I had to call and ask why they were not working I was told they held my second option because of the mix up, well they didn't do that either. I only received an apology and an offer for a discount that wasn't even 5% off the project. By the time they gave me new date options I was too fed up to go through the whole process I decided to go with another company. Poor effort to make up for their own mistakes. Skylight Specialists (skyspec.com) replaced two sloped glazing windows (windows on a sloped façade) in our home. They did an excellent job. After months of searching for a firm to replace these atypical windows (that would be 7 glass replacement companies and 3 window companies), I found Skylight Specialists. We all hope for great customer service for a project; timely response to quote and questions, arrive on time daily, clean up daily, complete the job on time, no "gotchas" at the end. Skypec did all this and more. We are very, very pleased with Skyspec and the windows. Installation required that roof tiles be removed and re-installed. This is standard with Skyspec. I didn't have to coordinate with a roofer. Also standard was replacement of rotted/weather wood in the existing structure. A distinct possibility with 34 year old windows that degrade faster than standard windows. Also included, at my request, was that the existing custom blinds could be re-used in the new windows. Finally, Skyspec was able to install the windows without scaffolding and without taking down a very long fence, which were the only options offered by other companies. We highly recommend Skylight Specialists. read more

We have an older (1927) home with old dome style skylights. We found the Skylight Specialist as the home and garden show. They were one of several that we called for estimates. Some of the others never even called back... Skylight Specialists were 100% on mark from the beginning to the end of the project. They provided an over the phone ball park price, then showed up on time, to measure and give the estimate, it was reasonable and understandable. The interaction with everyone from the sales to the install was unparalleled with most other contractors in the field. They were on schedule with install, even with weather delays. But the most impressive interaction was when I noticed an install issue... (totally my perfection side) they came back and fixed it with the best "can do" attitude I have seen in a long time... so impressed. I HIGHLY recommend Skylight Specialists for any skylight you need. Skylight Specialist has done a fabulous job of installing a large 4x4 skylight in our very dark kitchen and wow, it has made! Scheduling was super easy. They came out, took a few pictures /measurements and had a quote to us a couple days later. We scheduled the job for 2 weeks out and Mark and his crew were here, as promised and delivered more than expected. Stan came out a couple days later to complete the drywall and then it was ready for paint. They were friendly, knowledgable and great to work with. We'll be using them again for future remodeling projects. read more

Avoid at all costs. I didn't have a problem with the original installation but after a few years it seemed to have developed a leak after the condo replaced the roof. I paid for them to come out and examine it. I was told that was still in good condition, but since they didn't replace the outer shell properly so there was an inch gap. The roofers naturally concluded that no, the problem was with the skylight. I called to schedule a return visit to repair. I agreed to pay nearly $300 to reflash it entirely. I never heard back for time. I called again. I never heard back. After four or five MONTHS (I was busy) I got a call saying that someone would be out in a few hours to look at the roof. He came, he said that he couldn't really do anything because they no longer make that model. However it looked like it was just the shell that was loose, the tube itself is sealed. We agreed that he would put down an extra bead of caulk and screw it down in a few more places since that's all he could do other than replace it with a larger tube or seal the roof. I was told to expect an amended invoice. I did receive an invoice, for $270. I wrote to question it. I never heard back. (Is there a theme here?) I got a 'late notice' on it. I called. The sales person heard me out, said he would investigate it... and came back with $200 for the guy to pull out the ladder, tell me there's not much he can do other than 5 minutes of caulking and putting in a few screws, and all of this after waiting months without hearing from them. Unlike them I live by my word. I had agreed to pay about $270 for work. That's what they want. It's not worth going to small claims court to argue that they're billing me for work not done - WORK THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THEY COULD NOT PERFORM BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE RECORDS OF WHAT WAS INSTALLED AND KNOW IT"S NO LONGER PRODUCED. But whatever. Money is cheap. Yelp is free to post reviews so I can warn others. Stay far, far away from these clowns. They might be decent when you install the skylight but they are absolutely unreliable when it comes to service and they have no qualms billing you for work that you agreed to but they never performed AND SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THEY COULD NEVER perform. read more

I can't say enough about how good these folks are. They installed two new skylights about 6 years ago. I had a problem with one fogging and they sent a guy out to fix it. Unbeknownst to me he did a really poor job. Fast forward 6 years and a roofer inspecting my roof pointed out the problems with my skylights. I called them and they came out and looked, immediately acknowledging the problems and taking responsibility. They scheduled a service call and their guy Kevin kept me apprised as to scheduling, showed up on time, and did a great job of fixing the skylights. This is a class organization and I'll recommend them to everyone I know. read more

Unwilling to pull permit without charging an exorbitant amount. $500 for a $60 permit. Called city - if I pull the permit - I am liable "Contractors pull permit for work and inspection is done" Homeowners insurance will not cover non-permitted work. Guess no skylight for me. read more

I'll make this short and sweet or I'll be here all day. Skylight Specialists did a fantastic job on the ordering and installation of my 2, non-custom, standard size skylight. They were installed with no issues on the regularly scheduled date. On the 1 custom size skylight, it was measured/ordered the wrong size. I had to wait another 5 weeks for a re-order. They installed it ok. They only busted a couple of roof tiles, didn't even have to install a new curb because they were able to use the existing one, and still, it was like pulling teeth to get somewhat of a discount. They did however finish the job and gave me a discount. Would I ever use Skylight Specialists again - NO Would I ever recommend Skylight Specialists to friends and family - NO What's funny is that they were not even my low bid contractor, but I went with them because of all their positive reviews. So you decide for yourself if you want to use them or not. read more

I have been working with them to replace my skylights and so far have been very pleased. Much of the dealings have been done via email which works out great for me. Skylight came to the rescue when one of our domed skylights shattered from the hail storm in September. They also came to our defense with our insurance company, since they did not allow enough money for the skylight to be replaced. It took a long time to order, since it was a special order, but it looks great and they were great to work with. My only complaint is that they never called me to let me know it was in. I called long after the estimated time given, and they had to scramble to find out where the skylight was. I'm not sure if they had it, and just hadn't called, or it truly took a long time. Otherwise, this company is great and they have a nice product. read more
