I deeply despise the term "hidden gem," but I'm hard-pressed not to use it here. This place is in the middle of nowhere, and I was only aware of its existence from local word of mouth, despite this being essentially my original HQ and my high school being a very short ride down the road (and good luck even seeing this from the road). Subtle doesn't even begin to describe this location. I came here this past Sunday for lunch with some chums, including two honorary young pup chums. The young pups were primarily brought along in the hopes that there might be some airplane action optics for them, so on that basis alone it was a success - we had at least two planes land in front of the windows, prompting a mixture of squeals and shushes. We also took a quick walk outside afterwards to look at the planes parked (feels like there must be a better word it) off to the side of the runway, which was an exciting mini-adventure for them despite the nippiness. Just to underscore the random area this is in, you have to drive off a county highway past the entrance to Beneduce, and then into the Sky Manor Airport, which requires driving all the way around and behind the airport buildings until you ultimately arrive at the restaurant. You earn this one. The interior of this place is pretty memorable too - I've been in a few local airport cafes before, and this is on par with them. Lots of wood paneling that feels like an unintentional homage to everyone's grandparents' basement (where were the Dean Martin records?), coupled with airplane swag on the walls and just an overall old school diner feel. I don't know that this restaurant is necessarily historic in the sense that it's been here for decades, but it's cozy and seems lived in, if that makes sense. Very cool. I'd been emotionally preparing for breakfast/brunch but didn't realize that that specific menu cuts off before noon, so I hemmed and hawed quite a bit at the lunch menu. None of the burgers or sandwiches were really speaking to me so I went with the Arugula Salad with the grilled chicken add-on, featuring sweet potatoes, cranberries and a soft boiled egg. It's pretty rare for me to go salad, but this is the kind of I'm into, and it delivered. Huge portion (I was decently hungry and probably left a quarter of it on the plate), and all of the sweet and savory perfectly complemented each other. If you're into salad chains, it reminded me a lot of the harvest bowl option at Chopt or Sweet Green but honestly better. The one miss for me was dessert. The pups were clamoring for chocolate cake, so I agreed to split a slice of the red velvet with my chum. I had a bad feeling when I stuck my fork into the side and actually had trouble getting a bite size worth separated from the rest of the slice - it was that stale. I'm guessing that particular cake was at least a day old, which literally and figuratively left a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. Pretty avoidable mistake, in my opinion. The pups seemed delighted with their option, so I suppose you take the victories where you can. The service was very good. The young pups probably prompted the hospitality to tick up a notch, which is more than fine. Our waitress was very friendly and stopped by regularly. When we ordered the chocolate cake for the pups to split, she then sliced that up on her own initiative so each pup actually got their own small slice. Nice touch. Would love to try out the breakfast menu in the future, which probably has more intriguing options overall for me but regardless this was a solid win to jumpstart the year. I imagine the airport optics are also way better when you have the luxury of hanging out outside in non-polar vortex weather.

love love lovee this spot!! i recently tried this spot out for lunch and it was amazing! the restaurant has seating both indoors and outdoors. It was packed inside the restaurant and for a very good reason. The food was delicious! I was pleasantly impressed by how well balanced the flavors all were and how seasoned the food was. It was very good without a doubt. I had the spicy buttermilk fried chicken sandwich which was great, it was flavorful and crispy and filling. I tried the steak sandwich as well which was very good too. The service is also very good, the employees are very present and make sure everything is well. There's also planes outside which you can watch take off while you eat which makes it a nice unique experience

Family style restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. They have also outdoor seatings during nice weather. Although located in Sky Manor Airport which caters pilots , Sky Cafe is open to public serving good food at reasonable price. Service is fast extended by friendly, reliable, courteous and hardworking staff managed by the owner. The place is usually packed and busy specially during weekends. We have been here many times and we keep on coming back to Sky Cafe. See you all there guys.

My first visit here and I was alone, my wife was working. Post NJ MVC for a Real ID and I was looking for a nice breakfast and a generous day! I settled on a cheddar cheese omelette with mortadella, home fries and rye toast. Unlimited coffee refills. My only regret was that my wife did not join me. The food was awesome and bountiful! We will return as a couple next time to watch the small planes land and takeoff . Oh and also enjoy a great breakfast!

This place was great! We brought our 2.5 year old and our server was kind enough to move us upon request to a table next to the window with a great view of the runway. The food was great. Like surprisingly great. Our server was lovely and very attentive. The orange juice tasted fresh squeezed (the best!) and we got a fruit plate to share which had lots of yummy options.

The experience is definitely worth it. The food wasn't that great. The eggs had a fishy taste to them, the toast was stale. Their "freshly squeezed orange juice" tasted like store brought. What we really enjoyed was seeing planes take off and land so close. Made the wait time bearable with 2 under two. Service was great but probably won't be coming back but it was worth coming just for the kids.

Great food. Great service. Can be crowded. No reservations. Beautiful view out the windows, especially if you like planes.

Without a doubt, the best restaurant in NJ is Sky cafe, the staff is very friendly and the food is delicious, we will visit it again soon, great job guys.

Food was excellent but they should use a better reservation system. The parking is TERRIBLE if it's packed. If everyone knew their time it would space out the parking issues. Maybe on a holiday they should have an efficient menu, or something special to help speed up service? As related to reservation system, we got the text that our table was ready and that they hold it for 5 minutes. We started packing up the kids to walk over. By the time we got there, they gave away our reservation. As you can see, they didn't give it the full 5 minutes. I was watching the yelp app constantly as to not lose our place after waiting for 80+ minutes already, with a 4 month old and 2 year old! They quickly found us a new seat and it worked out, but it did make me feel like we were in the wrong. I know there were a ton of people waiting and I'm sure it's stressful, so I still give them a good review. If they had contact email on their website I would have just sent it to them and no reviewed at all. I HIGHLY suggest the bacon stuffed French toast

For this first time we got there before breakfast ends at 11:30 am on a weekday. It was a rainy day. Figured it'd be low customer count. Hardly. We didn't have to wait for an indoor seat (couldn't sit outside in rain). The place is so popular. When you see their menus with a broad choice for downright creative offerings, you'll understand. Hard to choose. Doesn't matter. It's all good. Check out the Avocado Spinach Eggs Benedict picture. Perfection. And the rich coffee. A marvelous spot to visit with friends and family! Beautiful scenery while driving through the prairies and the planes flying by. I was blown away by how smartly designed the cafe was. I ordered a Garden Panini and French fries. The Garden Panini has roasted portobello mushrooms, sautéed brussels sprouts, fresh mozzarella, and roasted pepper aioli. The vegetables were seasoned to perfection, and the mozzarella was delicious. The roasted pepper aioli was a cherry on top because it simplified the sandwich and added more flavor. Also, the panini is served with crinkle-cut potato chips with sea salt. The french fries had a crispy exterior and a soft interior. In conclusion, the cafe is fantastic and extremely fun for children because of the planes flying past the cafe. A must visit. read more

Great food from a restaurant that is in an airport! A hidden gem for sure. Open on Mondays but not Tuesdays (opposite days from most other restaurants). Can't tell you how many times we went on Tuesday only to find it closed! Anyway, go early it fills up fast. read more

Great place to relax, get a bite to eat, and watch the small planes take off and land. Quite a treat as I'd never been to this airport before. They offer quite a bit on their menu and from what the waitress mentioned, it's been redone recently. I had the chicken veggie sandwich which comes with potato chips. Cooked to perfection and very tasty, Best time to visit is in Spring or Summer when you can sit outside. read more

Tight fit, but everything about this place is awesome. Food is great, host and waitresses among the best in Hunterdon, and even when there's a wait it never seems that long. I'd come here for the planes flying in and out, but I come back because it's frankly one of the best places around, filled with locals. Get a seat outside when it's nice, you won't want to leave! read more

Love the fact you can watch the planes coming and going and that is part of the draw. Wish I could have gotten a seat outside to watch as inside is just meh. The place is packed and maybe why it feels a little dirty. Floors and table just looked and felt not clean. I am not the only one to comment on cleanliness and wondering if I could have taken pictures. I understand I arrived after 12 and they were slammed but it does not make my statement not true. The desert case looked a little dirty and deserts did not look like what other have on Yelp. tables are close so so feel a little claustrophobic so be ok with that. You can see in pic on yelp on close tables. The staff was friendly enough so no complaints there. The food just ok. The wife's salad was ok steak was good dressing just ok. My burger was the short rib and brisket but to tell you the truth it tasted like flavorless ground beef. Not bad but not better than good. Sweat potato fries just meh but I've never had good sweet potato fries out as they are usually cold and soft. The hu was great I'll say that. Maybe his is a better breakfast place? Maybe it was a bad burger everything else looked good just not a good burger. read more

I stopped by again because I was in the area and thought I would give it another try. Food is "OK" but pricey HOWEVER the place is getting run down and has a dirty greasy entrance that the cafe owner blames it on the landlord and she says they don't do anything. The place still has close seating (despite Covid making a come back) and small isles that I had a problem with because my friend uses a walker. The temperature was cold inside and when I asked about it, the waitress said the landlord doesn't care about anything. The parking lot has only a few handicap parking spots that were taken and when I asked about the lack of parking spots the waitress said AGAIN that it was the landlords fault because they don't care. TIP! Now that the weather is getting nice I suggest taking your friends, dogs and kids to sit outside at umbrella covered table (avoid the crowded inside) open your laptop, order a coffee and desert then take your time enjoying the beautiful air strip. TAKE YOUR TIME and make it a all day event in the fresh air and sunshine while watching the planes...... Coffee and ice tea refills are always FREE! Bikers, Bicyclists and Horse Riders are always welcome to sit and hang out with friendly airplane pilots. read more

A great atmosphere , very family friendly, beautiful views and what's not to like- you even see helicopters and airplanes. We've visited this establishment many times and it's always been great. The food is delicious , staff is friendly and so are the other diners. A plus is Beneduce Winery is right next door Keep up the good work ! read more

Owner messaged me claiming I was never there as the "turkey Reuben was never on the menu..." Absolute lie! I swear on my life and all my deceased relatives souls I was there several times! AND I had the turkey Reuben AND the utensils AND second napkin had dirty dried food on it. I live 10 minutes from this airport. 20+ years I've lived in Hunterdon. I'm highly intelligent and could not confuse a restaurant at an AIRPORT local with somewhere else. I regular fill my classic cars with jet fuel here. Typical unfair owner complaining to Yelp to remove legit reviews they do not want posted. $$$ Google this pervasive behavior- everyone knows it happens. Go ahead and complain to Yelp for removal of my post AGAIN! Screen shotted this one and your message. It will not deter me from reporting the TRUTH about my experiences here. To repeat: long black hair opening week in sandwich / dirty utensils and a second set with food on napkin. read more

My boyfriend and I were here yesterday with friends. Really cute place with a nice view. However, when I received my cup of coffee, I noticed the cup was used, it had lipstick all over it and dried coffe that was dripped down the side. Only to notice that our waitress wore the same color lipstick. I ordered well done bacon to go with my breakfast, it came out with a lot off fat still on and the texture was very rubbery. No biggie, it can be corrected. I notified the waitress and she took the plate back only to return the same bacon, that I had already touched and bit into, barely cooked it more. Did not bring back a freshly made order. Horrible. I do not recommend this place. read more

We'd enjoyed eating at another restaurant located on a small airport in New Hampshire, and went to the Sky Cafe yesterday for that kick. I did not expect that high quality of food being served there. Excellent menu and ingredients, and talented, thoughtful preparation in the kitchen. While the omnivore thoroughly enjoyed indulging in a spicy buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, I had an extraordinarily good kale and charred avocado salad with diced apples, and some of the best fresh radishes I've had in a while. On top were delicious roasted (still hot) brussels sprouts for a wonderful contrast. I balanced out all of my healthiness with MANY of the excellent, crispy, grease-less and well-seasoned french fries, and a beautiful side of mixed roasted vegetables. The hospitality was warm, and the restaurant itself is a pretty fabulous, cozy spot to visit even apart from the terrific food. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. read more

This restaurant is great for families with young children early in the morning. You can eat outside and there is a grassy spot for the kiddos. The food is fantastic, the staff kills it, and the view is one of the best in Hunterdon. read more

We stumbled upon this gem when we were out getting lost in our Jeep on a gorgeous day and what a find! It was a gorgeous Labor Day and the place was packed. They told us we'd have a 20-30 minute wait which either wasn't that long after all or it flew by (pun intended) as we watched planes take off and land. The food was delicious!!! I had the fajita burger that comes wrapped in a tortilla and man was it terrific. Cooked perfect, juicy and filling. The fries were perfect as well. We didn't have room for dessert but they sure looked tempting. I'm already looking for our next visit and plan on bringing friends and family. read more

I also tried the soup of the day which is the chicken corn chowder and I highly enjoyed it. It's a very small cafe and not much room to move about so when it's packed it gets pretty noisy. The couple things I want to note are around how long it was to wait for a table and food. We arrived in the area around 1125am and I called to place my name on the wait-list. Upon answering, the hostess informed me you have to place your name on the waitlist in person. No issue, I walked over to do this. Only to find out that the waitlist is monitored by Yelp, which can easily be done online. So that was very frustrating to see at the start. We then were told to wait 15-20 minutes. When we got to the front of the list, they then informed us that we needed to wait an additional 20-30 minutes as the kitchen needed to flip. This was very confusing and a big turn off. Eventually, I spoke with a woman who allowed us to come inside and sit down instead of waiting outside for over an hour. It would have been nice to know at the outset of this whole interaction that breakfast wasn't going to be an option and then it would be an hour before we could order and eat. At the end of the day, we ate our great food and enjoyed being able to dine at this place. I will just look into a few more places on my next visit here.

Wow! Anyone who visited this place before they reopened as the Sky Cafe will be surprised. They renovated almost everything! The kitchen is all brand new. There is now counter-style seating, and the dining area has been all updated. It has big windows that overlook the runway at Sky Manor Airport. It's really fun to sit and enjoy the view of the airplanes as they are taking off and landing. The food is excellent. I've had the opportunity to have both breakfast and lunch there (my job has me driving past that way frequently). Not only does the food taste great, but they give you generous portions. On my last visit I tried "The Aviator" skillet breakfast. It looked so good I had to take a picture. It was very hot when it came out of the kitchen and it was difficult to wait for it to cool down before I took my first bite. I was not disappointed at all. It was very tasty. A few days before I was there and tried the Avocado BLT for breakfast (fried eggs, avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato). It was huge! They serve it on a ciabatta roll, which was very fresh and crispy. On another visit for lunch I tried the curry chicken salad. I'm not big on curry, but the guy sitting next to me had ordered it and he was telling me how good it was. It was great! Up in the sky of culinary experiences, Sky Cafe soared with excellence in flavor and taste, a spread worthy of a top-tier flight. The food, a symphony of flavors that took my taste buds on a thrilling aerial adventure, left me delightfully satiated. As I savored the dishes, the dance of planes on the tarmac below provided an entertaining aerial display that complemented the dining experience. Yet, even under these clear skies, there was a turbulence that marred the flight. Alas, our waitress seemed to have the demeanor of an unexpected crosswind, her attitude aloof and distant, as if my presence was an inconvenience rather than a valued passenger. Such an encounter left me yearning for the warm hospitality that should accompany any gastronomic journey. For a flight to be truly memorable, every crew member must be united in delivering a stellar experience. Absolutely fantastic establishment. I came in with my wife the other day and we had a great meal. We came for breakfast and I ordered the Avocado Benedict while my wife ordered an omelet. We were both really impressed with the quality of the food, we found out they use local farm organic eggs which was a huge plus for me. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and personable. Im kind of upset that I haven't been to this place sooner. Also note, we were told that on weekends it gets really busy here especially after 10am, so we made sure for our first visit to come on a weekday. Really excited to come back here and we found out that this is the same owner who owns the Frenchtown cafe which was one of our favorite lunch spots as well! Cannot recommend this place enough! The view is fantastic. The menu goes on for miles, and when the food arrives it outshines even the view. In the background you can hear pilots, and passengers talk about their recent flights. The wait staff is friendly and effecient, and you can stroll about the airport after your meal. Weekends are hectic and often crowded, with many planes and helicopters coming and going just outside the wide windows. The runway and taxiways are close enough to see the pilots during take-offs and landings. Any wait you experience is worthwhile. This is not a fast food restaurant with pre-microwaved packages. Everything is cooked as if in your own kitchen, but better. It's too bad they don't serve dinners. read more

Just had a pleasant lunch at Sky Cafe in Pittstown, NJ. The location is ideal for watching planes take off and land, adding an interesting backdrop to the meal. We tried the Venetian Panini, featuring eggplant, Di Parma prosciutto, sundried tomato pesto, and smoked mozzarella on a French baguette. The flavors blended nicely, making for a satisfying bite. The Lime Panini, filled with chicken, guacamole, Mexican rajas, and queso blanco, was equally enjoyable, bringing a fresh and zesty taste to the table. We've been here a few times for breakfast and it's been fantastic each time. If it's crowded and you have to wait a bit they do a great job of moving people through so you won't be waiting long. The omelets are incredible (my wife is incredibly picky about how the omelet is finished and she will eat an omelet here) and the pancakes are perfect. The service is quick and attentive. The best thing about the restaurant in my mind is how creative the kitchen is at putting different ingredients together onto a plate that makes them so different from any other breakfast place. I had a short business trip at the airport and decided to try the coffee and got hungry so I ordered an omelet and side of hashbrowns simply delicious. Till this day I still dont understant the logic behind closing such a great little cozy restaurant at 3:30? Every day! I just dont get it. I was there two days ago, and although it was 3:15p and last group of ppl, the workers were putting the chairs up to clean the floor. Very good food with excellent food at fair prices, check out the daily specials. The staff is very professional and the location is excellent with planes flying in and out. The old bathrooms have been recently updated so hopefully this solves the main "complaint" about the place. Weekends are usually crowded with a wait so be prepared to wait outside. read more
