I was inspired to write my first yelp review because the service here was so clueless. No one was outright rude, there were just so many disappointing interactions. TLDR; Service sucks, food is mediocre, the view is the only redeeming quality. I went here with 2 other friends on a Sunday around 1:30 pm. The place was pretty full, but not slammed. It was a gorgeous, unseasonably warm, mid-October day, and we asked if we could sit outside. We were told that it was too cold. I responded that it was actually quite beautiful out at the moment, but was told that they didn't have a server working that section. Fair enough. I understand. For some reason, we were sat at a table that was dirty, so a girl came over and had to lean over us to wipe if off. Not really sure why they didn't tell us to wait 10 seconds so that could be done first. We were given lunch menus, and we asked if we could still order breakfast items. The answer was no. (It seems like if you're a cafe, you serve breakfasty items all day, and if you're a restaurant, you have a Sunday brunch. But again, whatever). Someone came to take our drink order, and in the midst of some communication about not wanting ice in our water, the waitress left the table before I could tell her I also wanted coffee. (This sort of thing happened several times throughout the meal - there would be a quick question, and then without making sure we had communicating everything we needed, she was gone.) So she comes back with coffee for my companion, and I order a coffee of my own. Then she comes back with it, drops it on the table, and leaves again. I realize she hasn't brought any cream, only sugar. She comes back, I ask for cream, then, when Friend 2 arrives, she comes back again without cream, and I have to remind her about it. By the time I'm able to put cream in my coffee and take a sip, Friend 1 is almost done his first cup. When we're ready to put in food order, I order a sandwich that comes with chips. I ask if I can upgrade to fries, meaning, they charge me a couple extra bucks to substitute. Nope, I have to just put a separate side order in. My friend was really looking forward to eggs, so he asks if he can get a fried egg on top of his sandwich. Waitress checks with kitchen and comes back to report that they can't cook eggs right now. The food was... fine. It wasn't anything special, but it wasn't horrible either. I got the chicken and kale sandwich, and my companions had the BLT, and a grilled cheese and sweet potato fries. Perhaps a little expensive for what it was. I asked for a box to take the rest of my meal home. One waitress dropped it off, and I started transferring my food into it. Then another girl comes over and asks something that I can't make out. I tell her that I didn't understand. Was she trying to wrap it up for me? No, she was trying to take my plate while I was in the middle of boxing it up. I had to take the plate out of her hand and verbalize that I wanted to keep it. It was super strange and clueless. Throughout the whole experience, it seemed like at least 4 different female servers came over. There was no continuity nor pleasantries. I don't think they said goodbye or thank you. On an unrelated note, the decor is sort of like if your grandparents set up a golf lounge in a spare room. But there are two walls of windows overlooking the tarmac, where you can watch small planes and helicopters take off. That was the best part of the whole experience, but I imagine the only way I would ever return would be if I were drunk and talked into it by good friends. read more

This is probably one of my favorite breakfast/lunch spots in the area. The food is so amazing and the service is quick. We used to go to their other cafe in Frenchtown, but the sky cafe is much closer and convenient. The view is a whole other story. You can watch planes take off and land at this private airport. Every meal I've had at the Sky Café has been awesome. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and attentive, and the kitchen does an incredible job of keeping up with the constant rush of people flowing in and out at any given moment. The quality of the food never suffers, even when the place is jam-packed. I love coming here to hear stories from the many pilots, past and present, who frequent the place, and meet the other locals who frequent the café. Some of my favorite meals are the Manor Skillet (with the multi-grain toast, mm!!) and the Cobb Salad (the portabella mushrooms are to die for!). I never leave wanting for more. And to Joyce A. (and anyone else who might share that same attitude), who unnecessarily and unfoundedly called the staff "dumb" and said that waiters aren't "rocket scientists" so she shouldn't expect much: the girls at the café are in fact very smart, ambitious women with interesting minds that come from many walks of life, should you ever care to try and converse with one. If I could give it a zero star review I would. I wanted to take my dad to breakfast here. We were very excited to go. My dad is a disabled veteran who requires a service dog. We walked into sky cafe and the hostess immediately asked to see the dogs papers. Under ADA, service dogs are not required to have papers. We stated this to her, which she said she had to check with her boss. Her boss refused to allow us to eat there with the dog. Also under ADA, you are legally not allowed to ask to see paperwork or ask the handler to have the dog preform the task or is trained to do. Needless to say we will never patronize this establishment again. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for breakfast this morning and it was so tasty!! I hadn't been here since my childhood and it's better than what I remember. Every table was filled when we got there but within 10 minutes we were seated. I got the Maverick omelette which was so delicious and cooked perfectly. Stopped by yesterday during Covid 19...not sure if they would be open. Lucky for us they were handling food by offering take-out only. We had hamburgers and I have to say it was the best burger I have had in a long time..perfectly cooked with plenty of cheese and a very fresh roll. We sat outside and enjoyed watching the planes taking off and landing. We are usually there for their great breakfast offerings, so this was a treat to find out they offered a good lunch also! Can't wait to come back on our motorcycles for another good meal!! read more

The best part about the Sky Cafe is definitely the views of the runway. You get to watch small aircrafts take off and land. We have had breakfast here a number of times since they changed ownership. The food is decent, it's nothing fancy or special, I would compare it to a diner. During the spring and summer the wait can get absolutely crazy, so if you do go be prepared to wait. They could definitely benefit from setting some more tables up outside. Inside is super crowded and loud. read more

What a wonderful and delightful experience, the cafe is just beautiful, the outside seating provides for a first class view - planes landing and taking off. The staff is friendly and does pay attention to details. Just an amazing experience. The renovations and the entire set up seems to draw a lot of visitors. We also were just visiting from Florida (former NJ residents) The owner was greeting us with a super friendly smile, they make everyone feel totally welcome. What a shame, used to be the go-to airport restaurant. Just like the other reviewer mentioned, we had to wait 15 minutes before any wait staff acknowledged us and took our drink orders. If it was busy then maybe that's understandable, but not when you go in the mid afternoon after the lunch rush has ended. Maybe half the tables were taken. The wait staff was incredibly rude, and the food came out more than 30 minutes after we ordered (sandwiches) and was room temp. We ended up getting Wendy's on our way home. This is the first time I've written a yelp review, in hopes that someone from the restaurant sees this and hires new staff to hopefully bring more customers in. There is no place in this business for waiters and waitresses who get irritated with customer questions and concerns and complain within ear shot to their fellow coworkers. I love breakfast food but I generally find most brunch and breakfast spots have the same old boring options: western omlette, blueberry pancakes, etc. sky Cafe has a really creative and bold menu - it was hard to pick an option but I went with the skirt steak omlette and it blew me away. Now I want to come back for lunch to try the skirt steak salad. My only complaint was the wait: 30 mins for a table, and then 35 mins for the food after we ordered. Also - there were dozens of flies around. I understand because the place is in the country and the door opens and closes every 3 seconds but I found it very annoying to sit there swatting flies for an hour read more

We were traveling from Pa to Long Island and wanted to stop for a quick breakfast! This was the first restaurant that popped up on Yelp and even though it was 7 miles from the interstate, the reviews on this little cafe were all excellent so we decided to give it a shot... and I have to agree with all the other posters... the food was excellent and such generous portions that I truly couldn't finish my omelet and my hubby had to eat my homefries!! He got the apple crepes and they were excellent too!! Next time we drive to New York we will stop!! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the ladies bathroom is a little tricky to maneuver if you have any kind of mobility issues... the toilet sits up on a platform with not a lot of room on it... I broke my ankle back in June and if I was still in a cast using a walker I would have needed help in the ladies room.... read more

We love the Sky Cafe. This place is the best kept secret set in the piece of Heaven that is the Hunterdon Co countryside. Come for a great meal and superb service, and stay for the aviation. You can watch the action of the runway right from your table, or eat outside for a closer view. The food is excellent and consistent, great daily specials, friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Breakfast or lunch, always delicious, and the bread on their sandwiches is the best around. And since this is "motorcycle country" at it's finest, this is a GREAT place to stop while out on a ride. Went for the first time this past Sat. (with my brother & crabby 85 yr old mother who complained it was too hot). My brother goes here often. I loved it. The place WAS too hot but I could live with it as I loved watching the planes take off and the food was delicious. I would have given this a five star rating but the servers seemed very "dumb". But then again, rocket scientists don't wait tables so it shouldn't surprise me. We got no silverware or cream for the coffee and had to ask and she looked at us like "duh". No apology for the error. My omelet was superb and the coffee good. Homefries were perfect! I'm fussy about my homefries. Plenty to eat and I left stuffed! This place is a must! It's a bit out of the way, unless you are flying in - but that's also the charm. Come here with kids on a nice day to watch the planes take off and land. The kids will love it and the easy breakfast is terrific. If your lucky you will be there when their special is the lemon ricotta pancakes - truly a show stopper. Owned by the same people that own the Frenchtown Cafe, another great stop. It's located at the Sky Manor airport. I'm amazed by the fact someone has a complaint about no ice cream,, really, this is not an ice cream stand but a great local restaurant with some of the best food in the area. The owner is always there working as hard as all the great waitress staff, the restaurant has been open for just over a month and if they ran out of food, I'm sure that it's due to the success of the staff and the fine food they serve. I know the owner well and she agonize about every detail if it's not right she will fix it, she is the best around! People giving one star after one visit have not really objectively given this airport restaurant it's due, as far as I'm concerned you won't find a nicer place to see aircraft flying, great food, great staff and fun airport to visit! read more

LOVE this place. Nice homey feel with outside patio as well. Fun to watch the airplanes come an go. Have been there for breakfast many times, and it never disappoints. The Eggs Benedict are a favorite of mine there. They are fast, efficient, courteous, and friendly. They are very good at topping off your coffee when more is needed, something that's often ignored at other places. This past weekend there were two HUGE groups ahead of us, yet I felt that we were still seated and served in a reasonable amount of time.
