The bartender was very friendly and when my wife was unsure about what to get, she asked my wife what she usually drinks and recommended several options. My wife wound up going with the Mexican lager (Tres Payasos) while I chose to do a flight (which I typically do when visiting a brewery for the first time). My flight consisted of: 1) Cool Story M - blonde ale 2) Death Bossa Nova - dark lager 3) Maibock - bock/maibock (partially ordered because the name sounds like the car) 4) Wystouti - stout After the flight, I also got a half pour of their Mexican amber lager - Payaso Oscuro. We were there in between lunch and dinner so we did not have any food with our beer. Overall, a very pleasant experience. We plan to return in the future.

The staff was ok but it seemed like they expected you to know what you wanted to drink. They didn't ask if I wanted to sample anything. It was almost as though they were rushing to move the line. Didn't bother with a flight since I didn't wanna hold up the line.

The space is beautiful and has this cozy, lounge-esque bar-meets-coffee shop feel, with velvet green and blue seating, lots of plants, and a really warm, inviting vibe. We happened to visit during Trivia Night, which was cute and fun and surprisingly not too crowded with all the seating they have in the space. It seems like they host some fun events, so I'd definitely be interested in coming back for another one. The staff were also very warm and welcoming. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly kind, which made a great first impression. We tried two of the honey wines: the Raspberry and Mango. I don't think honey wine is necessarily my cup of tea, but I'm glad I tried them! The Mango was very yummy, although definitely on the sweeter side. The Raspberry was much drier, but it wasn't my favorite and had a slightly medicinal flavor to me. I ended up going with the Tart Apple Cider instead, and I really enjoyed it. It was crisp, fresh-tasting, and not overly sweet. Definitely more my speed! The one area where I expected a little more was the coffee menu. Since I'd seen Middlemist pop up so much on social media, I was excited to see what they offered, but I found the coffee options somewhat limited. I was also surprised to find that they don't serve food, especially given the cozy coffee shop/lounge atmosphere. All in all, though, we had a good experience! The space is beautiful, the staff couldn't have been nicer, and I love that they seem to host different events throughout the week. I'll definitely have to come back and explore more of the menu!

The open and airy aesthetic is attractive, but the service and hospitality could definitely use some work. The menu on the board did not match the menu on the flight sheets you use to order the various types of honey wine and mead. Confusing. They recently started offering coffee as well. I ordered a hot cappuccino; it was decent enough, but cold. A large birthday party group came in after I'd been there for about an hour. I asked if I needed to leave, but was told it was not a problem as there was plenty of room, and other customers were still coming in. A man who was identified by another patron as being the owner walked past me several times--racial profiling?--but never once asked if I was a new visitor to the establishment and how I was enjoying everything. He missed an opportunity to build brand loyalty with me. It wasn't that busy, so I thought someone would maybe take the time to ask if I was enjoying my visit. Anywho, I tried the pineapple wine and the peach too, but the former was much better. Would I return? Maybe. They offer lots of group activities, including a book club and a paint and sip, which are up my alley. But if I get vibes that they only want "certain kinds of patrons" again, that's the last dime they will see from me.

They actually vaguely have a similar set-up to Troon Brewing and the Brick Farm Tavern, in that the brewery doesn't have its own formal tasting room, and a full service bar is the exclusive tap for the brewery. Northside Lounge actually has a separate Yelp page, but it's hard to review each separately because they overlap. You can order cocktails or other kinds of beer. They have basic food items available, too, which are inexpensive. The Brooks Brewery list is on a dry erase board, as pictured. IPA snobs won't like them. I thought that they were light, fresh, and drinkable. The Belgian cherry one was the best. They are a 1 barrel system. It's a very modest place, and it has a dive bar atmosphere. But there's charm. Friendliness is always important to me. Every single person said hi to me, from the brewer to the bartender to all the after work patrons. Manville is an interesting town. I thought that being in the part of NJ that it is, it would feel more upscale. It actually is a blue collar Polish town. It feels as if you're in the heartland of the country. I enjoyed the overall experience at the Brooks Brewery even if it's not the most posh brewery in NJ.
