Had a wonderful time here catching up with friends! Great wine, reasonable price tags and BYOF (bring your own food!!). Large tent outside, colorful gift shop and friendly service. Lovely ambiance and well worth it if you're in the area. Get the Malbec if you like reds - really smooth and tastefully crafted.

Gorgeous winery, literally pictures don't do it justice. Sitting on the Adirondack chairs looking at the beautiful vineyard with a nice breeze was blissful. I just wish they had better service. I thought maybe it was a fluke but based off other reviews it's not. The waiter was nice, knowledgeable but he was alone for 6 tables. It wasn't his fault but we waited 40 minutes for a glass of wine. It would've been more enjoyable if service was faster but I would go back. The wines were yummy, I love that they have food too. Empanadas and olives were yummy. I bet on a fall day it's nice they have cabanas with heaters.

I went with a couple of friends to this lovely winery for their comedy night. We came two hours early for the 7 o'clock show and ordered a cabana that has a fire pit in the middle, which was super cozy and had scenic views of the Vineyard. We went in the beginning of November, so it was a little chilly so I'd either recommend bringing blankets and dress warmly for the fall weather because the fire pit only radiates a little bit of heat. The wine helped warm up from the inside out. I really enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc with my salmon dish. It was so so delicious. I've never had salmon that was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside the way that they cooked it. Here. It was perfectly seasoned and the rice was seasoned as well. However, I had to add salt and pepper to the vegetables. I wish that they placed more food on the plate maybe more vegetables and a lot more rice, but I enjoyed my meal thoroughly. The staff was super accommodating and helpful and friendly. I would recommend ordering your food before the show starts because it gets really busy in the tent area. I also ordered their mulled wine which is a white wine version of the holiday drink. It was so so delicious. I highly recommend ordering it, However if you're not a white wine connoisseur, I would skip ordering it. The day we went it happened to be the 40th anniversary of the Vineyard so that was nice. We all got free cake. The community is super friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. The comedians were good. They definitely cater their jokes to the crowd that they are speaking to, so you do hear references to being a parent and things like that. I'm so glad that I went here on my birthday weekend and highly recommend you to go as well.

The girls and I got together for a day at the winery. We reserved 2 cabanas for $16. When I arrived I parked nearby. I walked up, and the nice hostess showed us where the cabanas were. The winery was so nice and I liked the cabanas. It was raining and kept us dry! Noah was our server, and he was ok. Wish he was just a bit more attentive, but he was nice. Besides that we had a good time. I enjoyed the wine samples. I got the OYC samples. I also got the DMC red wine bottle. It was very tasty! My friends said the food was just ok. The bill wasn't bad at all! All in all I had a good experience.

We visited Old Cellars Winery aboard the Hunterdon Wine Train Express which included a round trip excursion on the historic Black River & Western Railroad from Flemington, NJ to Old York Cellars Winery in Ringoes, NJ. At the vineyards, we were treated to a wine tasting, a delicious lunch with and panoramic vineyard views. Before lunch, the winery team guided us through a selection of award-winning wines expertly paired with a collection of artisan meats, cheeses, and hand-crafted chocolates from a local chocolatier. I had the grilled chicken sandwich for lunch. The bread was excellent. Our host and servers were friendly and courteous. However, at times it felt like we were abandoned after not seeing staff for extended periods of time. This issue was not a deal breaker but perhaps hopefully something that can be improved upon. The Hunterdon Wine Express is worth the visit.

If this review were solely about the winery, this is easily four stars and close to five. I think it's a really good winery on multiple levels, and this to me is the best one in the Hunterdon area right now. My top-tier chums and I came here yesterday for the Hunterdon Wine Express, so a significant portion of our experience was devoted to a very specific event and a collaboration with the Black River & Western Railroad - it's just not as good as the winery itself and in my opinion not worth the money. We each paid a little over $100 for this event, which involved a ride on a ye olde train starting in Flemington and travelling to the Ringoes, where you then had to disembark onto shuttle buses that took you to Old York for a sit-down wine tasting/pairing and lunch, and then a return drive/drive back to Flemington. The biggest issue with the travel portion is that the schedule and actual managing of the guests is VERY casual, to the point where we ended up getting onto the shuttle buses at Ringoes and literally just sitting there for 15 minutes waiting for people browsing the tiny gift shop or using the restroom. At no point were we specifically told, "Meet here at this time"; it's very open-ended, so you end up losing significant chunks of time that YOU paid for that could have easily been spent at the winery drinking, exploring and/or relaxing. The train itself has a bathroom, and the winery certainly has plenty. My suggestion would be to completely bypass the bathroom at Ringoes, at least on the way there - if you need to go, go on the train or wait the five minutes to get to the winery. They should just get everyone off the train and immediately into the shuttles. The grounds of Old York are gorgeous, and I say that having not seen the sun at all during our visit. I came here a few years ago when it WAS sunny out, and it's a fantastic optic. You're free to roam amongst the grapes, or you can chill out in the Adirondack chairs looking over the Sourland Mountains. They also have these awesome cabanas that you can reserve for a more intimate experience, though some of them don't have the best views, depending on the cabana (if given the option, I'd try to get the ones by the edge closest to the vineyard). For this experience, they brought us into the Vineyard Tent, which was pretty spacious and had a cool Airstream bar. They had reserved tables for the Wine Express people, which we were directed to shortly upon disembarking from the shuttles. We weren't crazy about the tasting/pairing portion, and it's entirely possible that we're not the target audience for this - we've been to a solid number of wineries at this point, and I think we're just more into doing our own thing/making our own schedule. Lesson learned. But in my opinion, it's too regimented and lengthy, especially given that you're already provided with a list of the pairings and accompanying tasting notes. It felt a little redundant to have someone at the mic just reiterating/elaborating on the tasting notes, especially because they inexplicably had a second person at the mic (same guy who accompanied us on the train; very friendly fellow for what it's worth) who then...also just talked about the tasting notes. None of us understood why the second person was up there too, but it honestly didn't add anything to the experience and probably extended the tasting by an extra five or 10 minutes, which wasn't necessary. The wine and accompanying charcuterie were really good though. I loved the Albarino and the Cab Sauvignon - smooth and spicy, respectively. Would absolutely come back to sip those bad boys. The biggest issue to me though is that they have the pre-ordered lunch IMMEDIATELY after the tasting. Huge mistake. None of us came close to finishing our lunch because we'd...literally just had a bunch of charcuterie a few minutes earlier. They should have a big break in there between the tasting and the lunch to give the participants time to digest. It's a shame too because the food was really good. I got the paella which I thought was excellent. Maybe a little skimpy on the meats/shrimp but really hit the spot. I would have loved to have devoured the whole thing. The service as well was spotty and not managed well at all behind the counter. It wasn't clear who was assigned to our table and it seemed like staffers were just randomly chipping in, which led to miscommunication, overall disorganization and long wait times - as an example, it took us over 10 minutes to receive two glasses of wine. At a winery. Skip the train and just come here directly. The same food/wine options are available regardless, and you don't have to worry about when to get on and off a shuttle bus. Take your time and enjoy the positives of the winery, which unfortunately are negated somewhat from the train experience.

Cold tasting room.

We went recently to spend a nice Saturday afternoon trying their wines and having lunch. It was a misty, rainy day. We parked in a muddy lot and tried to find our way to the tasting room, which was closed. No other signs to guide us, so we tried this big ugly tent, located down a muddy path with a small stream in the middle of it. The tent was the tasting room for that day. It was sparsely decorated for the holidays, and someone was loudly playing a guitar and singing off key, in addition, it was cold and drafty. The crushed gravel floor added to the ambiance. Only one or two other tables of 4 was there. Our server was very nice and moved a table for us to get away from the music. We ordered a flight of 6 wines, of which only one, the Pinot Gris was drinkable. Lunch was decent and we ordered one bottle to drink there. The girls couldn't be more accommodating, but the venue was so uncomfortable that we decided to leave instead of lingering on for more wine. Restrooms are down a muddy path in another building that was a permanent structure and heated. We were told that this building was reserved for wine pairings (one table of customers) and not for wine tastings which was in the tent. I suggested to the manager about our experience in that cold tent, and he simply shrugged and said it was a working farm. Aren't most wineries working farms? Except for the view of the vineyard, the rest of the venue looks pretty bleak. We won't be back.

Amazing Winery! We came here on a Wednesday afternoon and sat in the cabana area. Ordered two wine tasting and left with 4 bottles. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and made some really good recommendations. The ambience was amazing even though it was raining. We will return when the weather warms up!

The Reserve Tasting presentation.

Drove in on a Friday around 1pm. It was a gorgeous Winter day unseasonably warm. The place has changed a bit since we were last here. The setting is very nice with tables and covered areas looking out over the fields. We proceeded to the smallish building on the right as you come down from the parking area and it seemed to take forever to place our order. We were then informed that our order had not been placed but that we would receive a text with a link and then we could place our order. A bit ridiculous. We were then taken to another building where were were told our tasting would take place. We sat inside as it was quite breezy outdoors. There was one other couple present. Our server was friendly a part timer from California. We ordered a Reserve Tasting. Two whites a rose and three reds. They were very good. Thank goodness our server said don't worry about the link - he just took our order. He was nice enough and we left a good tip. Unfortunately we were disappointed as we were served wine in Plastic cups. While the wines were generally very good they were overpriced by at least $10/bottle. My wife asked for their port which we recalled from our previous visit. It is now in a typical port bottle named South Paw port. It was ok . They changed the bottle from the old triangle. They have a proper food offering. I attach a pic of the menu. The Valentines Day Special looked very nice. We noted that Darryl Mack (DMC), makes his wine here. Pretty cool. This is a nice place to sit and have a glass or two and the food is probably worth a try but they need to get real with their prices and pay a bit more attention to details. We would return when in the area. Mark & Nancy.

The image depicts a vineyard with rows of grapevines extending into the distance, set against a backdrop of trees with autumn foliage. A gravel path runs through the scene, and a small paved section is visible in the foreground. The sky is mostly clear with some wispy clouds, and a leafless tree is on the right side of the image. The setting suggests a rural or winery environment, possibly during fall.

Without covid , masks and the app, I suspect there would be a little more banter with the server about the wine.

We ended up buying a Vidal Blanc to take home for a special occasion. I normally prefer red wine, but this one was one of my favorites. They even offered wine slushes at the time which we tried and enjoyed. It was really refreshing especially during the hot weather. We got a whipped ricotta and a small meat/cheese board to share. We devoured all of it! The vineyard was beautiful and had both indoor and outdoor seating. The employees were very friendly and very informative of the different wines available. We were graciously invited by Jessica, one of the owners, to experience their dog friendly spaces, and we truly appreciated her hospitality. Leashed pups are welcome at the outdoor patio when it is quieter, and during busier times you can settle into a front-row spot on the lawn to enjoy live music. Their wines are crafted right on the property, and you can choose from tasting flights, glasses, or bottles, plus a tasty menu featuring charcuterie boards. We enjoyed both red and white flights along with a hummus board, all delicious and served by Karen, who made our visit extra special with her attentive service. Do note: during live music and events, you will need to head indoors to order while the pup stays outside. Be sure to check their website and social media for the latest event schedule. A perfect day-trip destination to relax with friends, family, and of course, your four-legged companions.
