I would like to give and update as I feel my last review I was WAY too premature on writing and…read morejust haven't wanted to even re open this book until my latest visit at Clay Cooley Kia. Where does one begin when speaking about the Clay Cooley Kia? Well let's rewind to April 2024. I took my 2021 Kia telluride in for 80k maintenance and after paying over $1200 fully off my card same day for work done my fate was sealed. They did work on my breaks, alignment and spark plugs and then recalls. 1 was for a sensor under the hood and other was drive shaft. After getting my car back it was riding rough and I mean ROUGH. So I took it back and after MULTIPLE TIMES BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP their "iPad" technicians "couldn't find anything wrong" I paid a insane amount of money trying to fix my car at this dealership. My card not once declined and I even was forced to take out a loan to get the final attempted fix which was to replace the throttle body, which even then I was back and forth to recalibrate it or whatever tinkering they felt like doing that day. In all I was in and out of rental cars for 3 yes 3 months and even had to take a small sedan of theirs to Houston for a close relatives funeral. I drive a vehicle with a third row for a reason. My whole family wasn't able to attend said funeral due to my car sitting on their lot. Anyways finally we got to a point where they didn't know what was wrong, Kia "expert tech" couldn't figure it out, so simply they weren't going to "be able to continue to work on it and I needed to call Kia" even mentioned lemon law. My car wasn't a lemon and was a great vehicle UNTIL I brought it into this dealership. Well after MONTHS YES MONTHS of back and forth with Kia's corporate office in CA I was informed that I wouldn't be receiving any of my money I had paid in back (at that point including loan we were over $3k) OR refunded my payments I had made while my car sat at the dealership and I was in a rental. I made 3 payments while driving a rental. To this day my car high idles and jumps when you let your foot off the break. Fast forward to last week 2/10/26 I get a letter in the mail of course from Clay Cooley mentioning an opportunity to get out of my car or refinance. Which either way I'm interested. I call and speak to Kevin. He sets up an appointment for me for 2/14/26 at 9:30 and says if I'm not able to find a new OR USED car I like the we can just refinance. Went in and ended up with a lady who was nice but looked terrified (we did not catch her name) immediately were talking new cars. Ok fine even though I said multiple times I don't want a new one because of the previous mess I ended up in. Whatever we test drive 2 and my messed up telluride is nicer on the inside and all in all a better vehicle. First one I test drove smelled like something under the hood was burning... ok so I told the lady I didn't want to waste mine or her time and to let me know what they valued my telluride at as I really wasn't trying to waste anyone's time. Ok so she says yeah we can totally do that. Then asks if I wanted to get paper work going which I said again I wanted to know the value of my car and that if I didn't find something I could refinance. She said yeah we can do that if we can't find something. Great filled it out and then she starts talking kias again. Well I wanted to look at some used ones I'd seen online that weren't Kia's and all of asudden we had a problem. They ran my credit and then I was informed that I couldn't go to any other clay cooley dealerships with that hard inquiry and only could shop at the one it was ran at. WTF. No "Hey ma'am I know you said you wanted used and not a Kia so you may want to go to another dealership in the franchise" nada. And then once I turned them down on their ridiculous attempt at getting me to sign on a new car that was going to yes lower my payments by $40 bucks a month but start me over at 5 years minimum I'm informed that refinancing really wasn't an option. Livid doesn't describe how I felt cause yet again I "didn't delay and came to see Clay" and was screwed over. Avoid this company at all cost. I am also am looking to go to the news with my experience and stack of documents because HOW. HOW CAN YOU TREAT PEOPLE THIS WAY!!??? Google wouldn't let me continue typing so here I am on Yelp letting the world know!! I've worked my tail off to get my credit right and was done so dirty yesterday that I'm BESIDE MYSELF with how much info was withheld starting with the not mentioning I couldn't go to any other Clay Cooley dealership even though from the moment I spoke with Kevin on the phone I mentioned used OR refinance. And let me tell you how once I said I just wanted to refinance everyone stopped moving LOL. That letter that was sent to me y'all was straight up false advertising and deceptive practice that now only I am going to be feeling the effects of for the next two years.

Found a car in their online inventory that looked promising, and requested info. Got a text right back telling me it was available. Set up an appt w/ confirmation message the next morning. While on the way to the dealer, sent a message to ensure that the car we inquired about was still available and told them that was the only car that we were interested in. We were told the car was indeed available and it would be pulled out front and ready to test drive. When we arrived, it was not. Surprise, surprise. The salesman looked it up, and then told us that it had just been taken to another lot. He said he would see if he could get it pulled back over, and walked away. He came back with some grimy looking salesman in a gold chain and shook his head to let us know it was gone. We had already made it clear we were not interested in any other vehicles, but grimy with the perm tried to schmooze us anyway. We obviously weren't having it and he called us rude as we walked away, as if baiting someone into a dealership under false pretenses isn't rude. Waste of time and gas. Proceed at your own risk, but know that the 2017 RAV4 SE in Barcelona red with 77k miles is not available and still posted. Update: Not only is it still up, but the dealership is still responding to inquiries for this car as of now, 10 hours later, saying it is available and asking to make an appointment to come see it . The luring of customers under false pretenses is fraudulent and illegal.

I made a payment for them. They were told that it was a 1 time payment and they weren't authorized to save nor use my info or card after that payment. They took it upon themselves to save my info from the card, They took money from my account that wasn't authorized and I'm now having a world of trouble getting my money back! I was even called a liar that they didn't take the money! Even though it's shown on my mobile bank app,and I have proof from my bank. I was told 7-10 business days, until I mentioned getting an attorney involved. Then promised 24-48hrs and even after that time frame. Guess what?? Still no money returned. So if someone doesn't have an account with you, then you shouldn't be illegally taking their money period!! So I guess it's time to get an attorney, BBB and whoever else involved. I know after this Exeter will never get my business again! They're already getting sued or already have. So I guess they about to get another lawsuit for theft, fraudulently taking money, etc!

This has been, without question, the worst car-buying experience I've ever had, and this was…read moresupposed to be a special purchase because it was my fourth Mazda. Instead, it has turned into an ongoing nightmare. I traded in my 2023 Cadillac, which already had a negative experience in purchasing it with Ed Morse dealership Dallas, as I had issues after a bad purchase transaction. Instead, 22 days later, my trade-in still has not been paid off because the dealership sent the wrong payoff amount, not following the contract that we all signed. As a result, I still owe money on a vehicle I no longer own. On top of that: My two rebates were not applied correctly totaling $1,250,00 ($750 veteran) ($500 Mazda to Mazda) I canceled my extended warranty and GAP coverage, and I am still waiting on my $4,092.10 refund. That I was told I would need to pay the balance first so that they can receive title before refund me the difference in what they failed to pay by contract. Now I have a car payment due on the new vehicle and still need to pay off the old vehicle for them to receive title, then to wait on at this point for 2 checks they OWE ME. Every time I ask for an update, I get a different answer. Working with Owen Benson and Brian in Finance was extremely frustrating. They were never on the same page, and neither would return calls or answer questions when issues came up. Instead of taking ownership, everyone points fingers at someone else--the finance department, accounting, or another employee. Since January 16, I've been given nothing but excuses, conflicting information, and the runaround. No one has taken responsibility, and no one has corrected these mistakes. A dealership should not leave customers chasing their own money or worrying about a trade-in that should have been paid off weeks ago. I chose Norm Reeves Mazda because I have been a loyal Mazda customer, but this experience has completely destroyed my trust in this dealership. If you're considering buying a vehicle here, make sure every rebate, payoff, and finance document is verified before you leave. I wish I had. I sincerely hope management steps in and resolves these issues because no customer should have to go through what I've experienced.
