More than I was expecting! I had gotten used to my favorite bagel place in Anderson, so I was expecting the same look for Skip's. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised! This was an actual little restaurant with tables and booths where you could sit down. There are even USB and outlets at each table, and I presume free Wifi, so it seems you can stay a while and get some work done! They offer breakfast and lunch, but I only got breakfast. Their smoothies are great, and so are the bagel sandwiches! Was not a long line nor a long wait after ordering. Will definitely be going back to try lunch! read more

A colleague suggested Skip's as a great place to grab lunch before heading to a meeting. I wasn't familiar with Skip's so I scoured through Yelp to see what others thought and, unfortunately, most folks are right about Skip's. The food: I ordered the Crosley on asiago and a caesar salad as my side. Both were blah. I'd asked for Muenster cheese instead of Swiss...they still used Swiss. It also wasn't anything to write home about. Bagel wasn't very good, the sandwich needed some lettuce or some kind of sauce as it was pretty bland. My salad was literally roughly chopped lettuce and way to many giant chunks of parmesan cheese thrown into one of those paper food service trays like you see at the ballpark. The place: It's an order at the counter then go back to the counter and pick it up kind of place. Most of the tables were dirty as everyone has already mentioned. It's really kind of gross that all you have is a flimsy napkin to wipe away the remnants of someone else's meal. I noticed several times workers walking through the dining room or standing idly behind the counter, but nobody EVER attempted to wipe a table off. Nasty. I noticed that nobody at our table finished their meal. Mostly just picked around it. One of us did get their food on an actual place, not sure why all of us couldn't have gotten that. The only positive: the have Pepsi's version of a freestyle machine so you can make a cherry Mountain Dew which was cool lol. Came to Cincinnati for the day to visit my husbands old stomping grounds (Landen). I opted for the Dagwood on Asiago- Turkey, Ham, Salami, Cheddar, Lettuce, Tomato, Banana Peppers. It was piled high and served cold. Very tasty and filling! I can see why it's a local favorite. And of course I had to get a dozen bagels to go read more

We've been there several times all during the week and have decided we won't go back. We really like the bagels and the tuna salad. The issue is every time we've been there are no clean tables. If they were crazy busy I might understand it more, but there have never been more than 3-4 tables of customers, no line, and staff standing around talking. This is especially strange since every other restaurant has freaked out about cleaning since COVID. read more

Skip's is great for bagels and breakfast food. I love their cranberry nut bagel! They don't offer vegan cream cheese so I usually get mine to go and toast it at home. I also like to get a side of their breakfast potatoes, just the right amount of crisp. I don't love their coffee (I think it's just too strong for my taste) so I usually skip a drink. I've never tried anything on the lunch menu but their salads sound delicious! They seem to have a steady stream of business every time I go in and the employees are usually friendly and helpful. I plan to go back and try more of their bagels. They have a huge selection of bagel and cream cheese flavors. read more

Skips is awesome! It's nothing fancy, no white table cloths here. But, it is delicious. They have the usual breakfast fare, bagels and cream cheese as well as breakfast sandwiches. Which are all delicious, but the lunch is so delicious. Their lunch sandwiched combine their amazing, fresh bagels in multiple flavors and great meat options. Their sandwiches are flavorful and have great toppling options. Their catering is also out of this world! They are super accommodating at short notice and made wonderful catering plates for me in the past. Their service is quick and so so good. I would recommend and I will return! read more

A modest strip mall hometown business, there is nothing swanky about Skip's. It's a walk up order at the counter style deli & bakery. It seems all the kids working in there are from the area. Not a huge fan of the customer service. Every time I asked something the snobby teenager at the counter replied, "Yeah I don't know." Then we presumably looked at her like, "Can you figure it out?" And the cashier next to her was reaching over her and smiling, "Yeah we have chipotle mayo." "Yes we have panini's they are just called something else." Really off putting that the person taking our order just flat out had at attitude problem/didn't want to be there. Other than that, I had the best Bacon, Egg and Cheese in my life! The bacon was actually real bacon, crispy and flavorful. The egg and cheese was done on the grilled and it was oosing off the side of my bagel. So so good! The boyfriend got a roast beef philly which was beef, sautéed onions, mushrooms & peppers. The cheese was not even melted, the onions were not sautéed and the beef was some of the driest I have ever had. The bread however was fresh and grilled to perfection. I wanna go back just to get a loaf of that! With other assortments like pastries, salads, and sandwiches this place boasts a huge menu, but I'm not sure they deliver on quality every time. If I were just reviewing the Bacon, Egg and Cheese this would be a five star review! Get something simple (and for take out) and you'll be golden. read more

As others have said, this is a simple walk up and order kind of place. It's casual and and inexpensive, which is fine. I walked in, ordered an omelet and potatoes, and sat down. The place had a faint smell of syrup to it, which you get at breakfast places. However, my food tasted really weird and it didn't work for me. I didn't finish it and it left a really bad taste in my mouth for a long time. First, the omelet. I got a western omelet. It had big slices of deli ham in it (instead of it being cut up), but hey OK. But it tasted, and this is weird, really strongly of celery. Like someone accidentally elbowed a container of celery salt into the omelet mix. It was weird and unpleasant. Then the potatoes. Also weird. Little potato cubes sent through the deep fryer, but also weird tasting. Not celery this time, but instead a touch sweet (perhaps maple syrup?) but also pretty inedible. Last, the coffee. I tried the "Highlander Grog," which was overly sweet, sticky, and chemical-tasting. I then switched to the stuff coming out of the Douwe Egbert machine which was just a little better. Food-wise, nothing seemed quite right here. Maybe sticking to the bagels would be a good idea. read more

When you walk in this place it is not what you expect! It is much larger than you think! It's a sit down place but from the outside it looks like a take out place where you wait in line and go. The good is amazing I had a turkey club and a chicken gumbo combo. The prices are great. Very inexpensive. My mom got a Ruben it was very good as well. I highly recommend this place. My food was mediocre at best. The best part was the ruffles chips. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap which was a total mess. It was not wrapped at all and fell apart as soon as I opened it. The chicken inside was good but it was just a total mess to eat. I also got the potato soup which tasted very odd and was very bland. I was excited for the pickle spear but it was gross! I realize that my blog is quickly becoming a restaurant review website for obscure restaurants on the east-side of Cincinnati, but I assure you that this will change soon. Once we move into our new house in Hyde Park in just over two weeks I will likely be dining in more urban settings. After working up a big appetite mountain biking on Sunday, my wife and I decided to drive down Montgomery Road searching for a good sandwich. Eventually we spotted Skip's Bagel Deli and I immediately recalled eating here many years ago. The layout of the restaurant is a little confusing as there are signs directing you to place your order immediately upon entry but the menu boards are at the back of the restaurant. We determined that the first ordering counter is just for quick breakfast orders of bagels and that the back of the restaurant is used during lunch hours. The menu is really large for a deli so it took us some time to reach any decisions. Eventually I settled on the Albuquerque Turkey with Boar's Head turkey, black bean and roasted corn relish, sprouts, lettuce, salsa, lite sun dried tomato cream cheese and ranch dressing on an everything bagel. My wife ordered a combo plate with half of the Turkey del Cabo sub (turkey, bacon, muenster cheese, guacamole, fresh spinach, tomato and chipotle mayo on french bread) along with Miss D's Summer Salad (fresh mixed greens, tomato, onion, cucumber, sun dried cranberries, feta cheese and walnuts topped with balsamic vinaigrette). The combo my wife ordered was a great choice! For only $7.29 the plate was filled with tons of salad and the half sandwich was equivalent to a full size sub in many other restaurants. The salad was great tasting and her turkey sub was pretty good as well. As good as her turkey sub was, my bagel sandwich blew it away. The addition of cream cheese to the sandwich is game changer in my opinion and I loved it. I wish there were more locations around town, but I can only find the one we visited and one in West Chester. read more

This is a quaint family owned restaurant that has a lot of food choices. They have everything from breakfast options to nice sized sandwiches. My favorite is a simple homemade blueberry bagel with plain cream cheese. The bagels have always tasted fresh with a slightly crisp outside and a doughy delicious center. You will place your order at the county and will wait about 5-10 for your sandwich. The delicious food that you receive will be worth the 5-10 minute wait. read more

Skips was a disappointment today, there were four of us. Looking at the ceiling the place was just dirty. Their covid protocols are pretty good. The food was a disappointment, the bread and bagels were tough to chew on, did not seem very fresh. The meat was like beef jerky. Three out of four of us didn't finish half their sandwiches. The menu is way too big, if i were the owner i would focus on what people like and what they do well. Also service wise, i left and they forgot one of my sandwiches. If this place stays the course, I don't see it lasting much longer. Definitely needs improvement. read more

Skips Bagels has a lot of tasty options. I usually get an egg white omelette with cheese, broccoli, and turkey since I have been on a health kick lately. Ingredients are fresh, and they also have a variety of fresh baked breads/bagels. Another great thing about Skips is they have soups that are made daily here. They also have fresh meats that you can buy by the pound. The ambiance is very hometown feeling. This "mom and pop" feel is something that is quickly disappearing as franchise after franchise pop up. This is my favorite hometown deli, and I appreciate the small town feel, and familiar faces. The staff is extremely friendly, and the service is fast. After ordering, they start your meal right away, so don't expect to wait too long before you get your food. Just make sure to memorize your ticket number, as that's what is called out and orders pop up. I wish they had Coke instead of Pepsi, but no place is perfect. The soup choices change daily, so that's nice as well. Oh, and if you like chess, bring your own pieces to play on the multiple chess tables they have. I also know that the owner is very charitable. My friend got back from Iraq and the owner catered his party for free. Love this place! read more

My biggest complaint? Tables are ALWAYS dirty. I've been coming here for years (soup and a toasted bagel is my go to), and no matter if they are busy or slow, the tables are ALWAYS dirty. Also, it always costs more than what the menu says. I'm talking about the before tax items never match the menu prices. They do have good soup though. read more

Used to come here a lot in high school when Ben & Jerry's was attached, and haven't come back since then, about 10 years. After discovering the Corner Coffee Cafe in Remington was closed for breakfast we decided to stop into Skip's. Bagel sandwiches are good for lunch and breakfast, and we got a side order of home fries with onions and peppers that were really good, and they have Seven Hills Coffee, which my hubby loved. Service here is apathetic at it's best, unfriendly at its worst, about what you would expect from a bunch of teenagers counting down the minutes until their shift is over. The tables weren't cleaned off, the seats are held together with tape in places, the seat I sat on was missing the cushioning and had a bona fide ass-dent in it, definitely not a good impression as far as atmosphere goes! Best Feature: Good selection of sandwiches Worst Feature: Meh service, pricier than other sandwich shops Tried out this restaurant recently on a lunch outing - my overall experience left me wanting a bit more on all fronts. They seem to have a deli available if you're shopping for deli meats/etc., but all I saw was the Boar's Head brand which is pricier than I'd normally go for. They had a great selection of breakfast / lunch sandwiches - from suggested combinations to a "Create Your Own", which was fantastic! A bit overwhelmed, I asked the cashier for her recommendation. She recommended The Crosley on the "everything" bagel, so I decided to take a risk and order her suggestion. The service, however, wasn't the friendliest. A smile or "how can I help you?" would have been just enough to tip my rating up a star. Also, for some reason several people who came in after me had their meals ready before mine was finally called. As a first time visitor, I wasn't sure if there was a specific reason for that but I felt a bit surprised that the 2-3 people who followed received their "to go" order and were out the door before I saw an employee finally walk over to grab the bagel for my sandwich. The sandwich itself was okay; I did not opt for the NY size but stayed with a small and it was over $6 with a side of chips. The portion was indeed that ... small. A normal sized bagel with a disappointing amount of meat/etc. on it greeted me when I unwrapped my sandwich. The pickle that was included with the meal was a nice addition, but overall I felt I could hit up a Jimmy John's or other sub shop and find a better deal. The interior is beautiful - and I love the outside sidewalk tables for when the weather is favorable! Clean and elegant, I was quite impressed! With a beautiful interior and excellent menu selection, I really wanted to have a great experience visiting this deli restaurant. Unfortunately, the food portion, price, and poor service did not leave me with the best of impressions ... in fact, it made me miss one of my favorite delis which gives me a lot for a lower price - Batelle's (http://www.yelp.com/biz/battelles-grocery-and-catering-cincinnati). Great, giant bagels. We've been coming here every weekend to get our bagels since I was a kid. The place is a bit disorganized and needs an update, but the bagels are the star here. Get the onion bagel, it's divine. Skip the sandwiches and "lunch" and make your own at home. These bagels work fantastically for pizza bagels!! read more

Meh. Plastic and foam everything, from forks to coffee cups to plates. Wouldn't seem so bad if it weren't a sit-down deli restaurant with a lot of tables, but with just average food, all-plastic everything, combined with 5 teens running the place on a Sunday morning and consumed with everything BUT customers, Skip's was just too much mediocrity for me. (I'll exclude the cooks in this; they were busting tail to get food off the grill and into the customers' hands). The coffee and the breakfast bagel were good, however the dirty tables and lackadaisical service (to be clear: lack of ANY service) pushed me over the edge and down to 2-star territory. I'll try it once more with the wife just to see whether there is any reason whatsoever to change my impression of Skip's (and will definitely bring a Reach coupon so I don't feel like an idiot if we have the same experience). We used to visit a long time ago but I remembered why I never was head over heels for Skip's Deli: all of the above. In fairness to the deli, I think I may have been too intent on a relaxing sit-down meal to accept all that damn plastic, and the home fries in a waxpaper basket, and the do-it-yourself table cleaning. One request: could you guys at least have real coffee cups for your customers?? Even Panera offers that token to its clientele. PS Isn't is interesting that some smiles from the counter staff and a bit of concern for the customers could have changed the impression of our visit, and hence the review? I've just recently been introduced to Skip's, and now it's one of my favorite places to go for lunch during a work week with my co-workers. As a former Panera addict, I got tired of Panera's steadily rising prices, but I missed the tasty sandwich and salad/soup combos. I do feel like Skip's is a better value, since I can get a hearty bagel sandwich and a HUGE 'side' salad loaded with chicken, for $7. I always get the Reuben bagel - delicious, lean corned beef piled on a pumpernickel bagel, with Swiss cheese and sauerkraut. Pair that with a side chicken salad with Asian dressing, and I'm a happy and STUFFED girl. While you won't get that cozy, addictive fireplace ambiance of Panera, I'm happy to report that we've never struggled to get a table during lunch hour at Skip's, and the service is VERY friendly and quick. There's even a nice old guy who greets people throughout the dining area - he'll insist on fetching you to-go containers (and you might need one, since the portions are generous), and he'll give you coupons for the Cheezeburger Cafe next door (review on CC soon - another good and tasty value). I'll continue to frequent Skip's for work lunches, and am very happy that my co-worker introduced me to it! read more

We went on a Friday evening at 5:30pm. The deli was nearly empty. We ordered the sandwich and soup combo. The chicken chili was delicious and the rubin excellent. The brewed ice tea and Highlander grog were wonderful. All this and a brownie for under $23.00. read more

I'm sad. This place has a great concept and I used to love coming here. They don't have Grippo chips anymore which is really sad but the saddest part is that you'll pay 8.99 for a weak ass sandwich. We really enjoy Skip's for a weekend breakfast. Their bagels and flavored cream cheeses are great, and a ham, egg, and cheese on a jalapeño bagel can't be beat. Lunches are good too, the Downtown Mary Jane is my fav sandwich, turkey, Swiss, guacamole, yumminess. The salads are great, served in giant "bagel bowls", get a salad and a side of cream cheese for the bagel bowl and you're set. Now, for the bad... Otherwise, I would give it a higher rating. The staff is so apathetic. You feel like you're bothering them by coming into the restaurant. Also, the maintenance on the tables, chairs, and booths is seriously lacking. Every seat is ripped, stuffing showing, and taped back together. That just feels gross, sliding into a booth with seat stuffing and duct tape beneath you... I really like this place, and with a few tweaks it'd be a perfect breakfast and lunch spot. read more
