Upon entering the Ski Haus, I immediately felt the good vibes coming from the staff and the cozy decor. A super chill girl with dreadlocks helped me pick out my ski gear and didn't judge me a single bit when I didn't know what I was doing or looking for. She took the time to explain how the boots should fit and gave me advise on skiing. When I rented up on Snowbowl, I felt like just another brick in the wall in the ski boot assembly line. Ski Haus is another story. It takes a little bit more time to rent. She was at the moment the only person in front of house, probably because it was a weekday. If you have the few extra minutes and want to save a few extra dollars, I would highly recommend renting here versus up on the mountain. Good times. read more

The staff we interacted with was helpful and quick. I have been snowboarding for 10+ years and gave my specifications to them and was in and out of the shop in 20 minutes. HOWEVER, the board I rented was completely non-functional 2 hours into snowboarding. I get that I am paying $35 for a beginner board, but I didn't expect the board to be basically non-responsive to my carving. Upon checking the bottom, there was absolutely no wax in large patches along the edges causing the board to suddenly "catch" the snow making it difficulty to snowboard. The conditions were slightly icy and the edges of this board was dull beyond anything I've used before. It would not cut into the hard pack/ice allowing me to stop or slow down. It seemed like they haven't done maintenance on their boards since probably last season or more. I would suggest paying more for their pricier demo boards or go somewhere else. read more

Fantastic! Great working attitudes and knowledgeable. Review begins Friday night, when we almost arrived, we had called ahead to see if they could stay open for us a little later, 730, even though they closed at 7. We're from out of town and hit a couple accidents and really wanted to get our gear there that night before going on the mountain on Saturday. They said sure no problem. We get there, door's locked, we knock, guy inside gives us a look. =[ So we call again, and he says He'll get it unlocked for us. Even though they probably had a super busy day and were waiting to go home for the night to rest up for the next busy day (holiday weekend) the guy that helped us out (I forgot his name!!! Glasses, on the skinnier side, young-ish, Parker? Maybe?) had a great attitude! So friendly, so helpful, and with me being picky and fickle, super patient. Really appreciate it! So we're in, out, and then another family walked it...Sorry.... When we go back on Sunday to purchase the gear we demo-ed, manager was great, very understanding, and gave us great deals on the gear. We're very happy and appreciative customers, and when the time comes for us to get new gear, we'll definitely be back! read more

I don't have enough good things to say about my experience at SkiHaus! I would give 10 stars if I could, my experience was just that great. I visited last week with my two kids for their first ski trip. I myself hadn't been on skis in over 10 years. First impression might lead you to believe the shop to be small, chaotic, and too laid back, but trust me when I tell you that this is far from the case. From the moment we entered we were taken care of. The shop was in full swing due to the winter break, however we didn't wait for more than a few minutes. As my kids had never skied, and it had been such a long time for me, I had no idea of what sizes of anything was needed. From boots, poles, skis, helmets, jackets and pants, etc., I was clueless. None of this was an issue! The assistant manager, Curtis, took care of me and my kids from beginning to end. We never felt rushed (And we had to try multiples of each item), he fielded all of our questions, gave me some great advice, and got us on our way in fairly short order. All the while the attitudes of everyone in the shop was upbeat, friendly, and welcoming. After our first day of skiing I realized that a set of poles had been swapped with a Snowbowl rental! I entered the shop expecting to have to offer a long-winded explanation. Again, no problem! No one even batted an eyelash! Nothing was a problem at SkiHaus! In fact, Curtis even comp'd us on the rental fee for the second day for the most minor error that he made the day before! The attention to customer service was mind-blowing. Working in a customer service industry myself (Airline), whereas the customer service is nowhere near as good as it was at SkiHaus, it just struck me that this is the way business should be conducted. They are clearly not the largest ski rental shop, however you can tell that they are just shooting to be the best, and not the biggest. All of my future ski rentals will be made at SkiHaus. When I arrived at Snowbowl I could only smile as I watched the rental line snake out of the door, in what can best be described as an "assembly line" style rental station, not to mention the fact that SkiHaus beats Snowbowl's rental prices by a mile! If you're headed up to Snowbowl all I can say is drop in to SkiHaus, for you first, last, and only stop for rental. read more

Really good service and great prices, especially for a brick and mortar retailer. I purchased skis and boots here, and was fit by Davis. They have this really neat machine that scans your foot and uses the 3D measurements to find a boot that will fit most comfortably. He's entirely capable of finding boots for you without the machine (we came back after the season to buy my wife's new gear and she opted out of the high tech option). When we came back the second time, he actually remembered us. I refer friends and family here whenever skiing in flagstaff or outfitting for skiing comes up. I bought my boots here and the following year my husband upgraded his 20 year old boots with a new pair he bought here. We also rented skis for my little girl. I'm a novice skier but based on the other locations we visited, this one stood out as the most friendly and honest (not that the others were blatantly dishonest). This is a small shop and I feel like the owner's intent is to create long-lasting relationships with his customers by providing personalized, excellent service. Sloppy!!!!! We brought our skis in with new boots for our kids because they had grown. We very clearly explained that we would like a "tune up" and that these boots are new to the skis. The tech reviewed the skis and determined which needed wax, edges, etc. He also sized one boot each to the skis to make sure they were compatible. He told us to leave one ski and everything word be ready, including binding adjustments. We happily paid the fee assessed for the services requested the next day. When we got to the slope the next day we found out only one of the skis had been adjusted to each boot. We had to pay the mountain to fix their mistake at a significant waste of time and money! I addressed this issue with them when I returned rental skis we also rented and their response was that they never charged me for the service so they weren't liable. Even though I clearly outlined the services and left one boot over night for each set of skis. I really was under the impression they were providing the services requested. Manager called me to follow up to say they can't be liable for a service they didn't charge for.... I had no idea they weren't charging me for this service, especially since they asked to keep one boot each over night!!! Sloppy and careless service is NOT acceptable when I'm entrusting my children in their hands... UNBELEIVABLE!!! Bottom line is that what was important to us is that are kids' skis were in safe working condition. We never negotiated on price, simply described what we needed done, and even left the ski boots behind to facilitate the required work. I would have paid any price quoted for the services I required. They asked for a fee which I prepaid and assumed was comprehensive of the work we needed. They followed up by saying we never charged you so we aren't responsible. They've even gone as far as to taunt us by saying since we were upset at their lack of service they got a tip from another customer. In my opinion that's incredibly immature and my family's safety and best interest should be the most important consideration. read more

As an avid skier from Colorado I decided to rent skis instead of shipping my equipment from Denver. What I received was a set of skis that were very outdated and beat up. I gave the skis a chance on the mountain, but when I made a basic turn and popped out of my binding I knew something was up. I went to the tech shop on the mountain and they showed me that the binding was actually broken on the ski that came off and both binding mounts were very loose. The tech at the shop told me he has seen this kind of product from Ski Haus on a daily basis. The only reason I give 1 star (other than that being the minimum) is because they did refund me for my rental. After spending $65 on a lift ticket I was trying to get a refund for half of the price of the ticket since the faulty skis I used cost me most of my day and I had to rent a second pair of skis on the mountain. Overall I was extremely disappointed in their products and their mediocre service. A shop like that in the Denver area would never survive. read more

One of the MAIN marks of a good company, in my opinion, is how they fix their mistakes. On Friday, my son and I rented a couple snowboard packages. When we arrived at Snowbowl, we realized that his right bout was missing the cinching mechanism. I called them to let them know and Josh immediately offered a couple solutions including paying us back for a comparable package at the slopes. I told him we'd see how critical it was. As it turns out, it was totally fine. When we got back to return the boards, i mentioned to him that I was the guy he had talked to earlier, but that all had been fine. He immediately apologized again and then handed us a couple coupons for free rentals in the future. That's customer service. We weren't complaining or angry it anything. But, that simple thing has earned my loyalty. read more
