Best shop experience I've had in forever. Ski Haus is the real deal. I walked in knowing I needed new boots and skis but wasn't locked in on models. Matt spent a ton of time with me, asked all the right questions about how I ski (trees, bumps, charging variable snow, & park), and straight-up put me onto the Salomon QST 100s. He nailed it - they're absolutely perfect for the way I ride here. Mount point, base grind, and edges were dialed on the spot. The Armada boot fitting was on point. Appreciated the fact Matt wasn't trying to upsell anything extra for the boots until I rode in them at least once. Have noticed at other shops they'll try to upsell you on the fitting only to realize you didn't need it, but easily the most comfortable boots I've ever owned, and it only took one session. No rush, no hard sell, just Matt and the crew genuinely geeking out on getting everything perfect. This place still feels like the classic local ski shop that actually lives on the mountain. I had a very frustrating and disappointing experience renting from Ski Haus in Flagstaff and want to warn others. After I had already signed the rental form, the employee strongly pushed their equipment insurance. I specifically asked what the insurance covered and was clearly told it covered ALL damage to the equipment. Based on that direct statement, I agreed and paid for the policy. While skiing, a teenager ran into me, breaking one of my ski poles. I kept both pieces of the pole to bring back to Ski Haus. When I returned the gear, the lady accepting returns informed me that the insurance they sold me did not cover pole breakage -- and the manager forced me to pay for brand-new replacement poles out of pocket. This felt incredibly deceptive. Ski pole breakage is one of the most common things that can happen while skiing, and it's exactly why customers purchase rental insurance. Being told I was fully covered and then charged anyway is misleading and dishonest. I relied on what their staff told me, and instead of honoring that, they hid behind exclusions and took more money. I've rented skis many times elsewhere and have never had a company sell insurance this way and then refuse to apply it. Renters beware: do not trust their verbal explanation of coverage, because it clearly does NOT cover what they claim it does. Very upsetting experience and I will never rent from Ski Haus again. read more

Many great reviews about this place and we followed them for ski equipment needs. Some of the staff are not the friendliest! They almost make you feel unwelcome if you are a rookie/beginner skier! One of the attendants who helped with the gear suddenly changed his attitude as soon as he realized there were some in our group who had an accent!!! That was very obvious and very low! I think the place is well equipped with gear, but the staff could use a little training on how to be customer centric and not ski snobs. He went above and beyond and really helped us out with my son's challenges finding a boot that fit. We had been to two other local ski places before going to Ski Haus and none of them had a wide boot rental to accommodate him so I definitely have to give Ski Haus and Jessaya props! Here's what lost you stars...just some constructive feedback. In response to your insurance explanation...I'm sure the other local ski rental places we went to also have insurance challenges related to COVID and none of them had any restrictions on trying on boots. That puts you at a competitive disadvantage. I don't understand why the insurance company views the COVID liability differently if my wife had stepped outside, put on the boots and then brought them back inside if they didn't fit. Everyone was wearing a mask and she wasn't asking for any assistance from your staff to put the boot on. We were told we could swap them out if they didn't fit, we just couldn't try them on right there and then...I just struggled with the logic. I'm cracking up at your word choice to characterize my experience..."heartbreak and distress". Josh we're not dating...it's just a rental relationship buddy! I appreciate your passion though! Why did I take the sticker? So I'd have a visual aid for the creepy part of our experience. It's a great story! Look...you appear to have a good business with knowledgeable, helpful staff. I guess my parting comment to you would be that if you want to have a successful, sustainable business then it's important in these challenging times to have some self awareness that diversity is important. I think that as a society that we've sometimes forgotten that diversity also means diversity of thought and opinion. Self awareness of this will allow you to cater to the broadest customer base possible. You run the risk of alienating some customers once you inject politics or ideology into the customer experience. Not everyone is going to agree with some of the presuppositions it appears you and/or your staff is endorsing or the narratives that go along with them. Wow, I can't say enough good things about this place. I never take the time to put reviews on yelp, but this place is just splendid and deserves it. The staff really know their stuff and welcome you into the chill shop with an impressive selection of skis of any budget. I brought my rock skis in for a fix-up and they said it would be more than I should spend on old skis. So I left them to just get a basic wax for $20. Much to my surprise, I came back and they had completely fixed the bottoms!! No extra charge!! Although they probably won't do this for everyone who walks into the shop, this deed just reflects the magic of a small town ski shop! We were apart of the Snow bowl fiasco with heavy traffic during heavy snowfall, where the city bus slipped and couldn't get us down the mountain to return our ski rentals in time. Randa (not totally sure that is her name) was proactive in calling us to let us know they would be open late and wouldn't charge an additional day for return by 9am the next day. We were't able to return our rentals until 11am the next day due to overnight snowfall and poor road conditions and they still didn't charge us. Epic experience with outstanding staff. Incredible customer service! Last week my daughter and I were renting skis, poles, boots and helmets the afternoon before the day we were skiing (I like that you can get them the day before so you don't have to take the time in the morning, by the way), and I was getting my wallet out to pay and the staffer just said "No, don't worry about this. This took way too long and that's not acceptable -- it's on us." Wow, incredible! The next day the return process was super simple, and they had tables and bins set up outside. I highly recommend renting from here. Last year we rented from Snowbowl and it took us TWO HOURS to get on the slopes by the time we stood in line for our rentals and more. Aww man! This was my go to for rentals on the way to Snowbowl for at least a decade. Usually great service, great equipment. Unfortunately today I walked in told them my size and the wanted to encourage me to try another size, I said no, they said you can try one and done, no second try ons for to covid if they give me the wrong size.. In retrospect I should have have given them a single shot, but I've been skiing since before they were born, though they feel expert. Renting elsewhere today. May try again next season. This season Ski Haus in Flagstaff, AZ sold me five season rental packages under the premise that we could tune/wax our skis on an as needed basis for the entire 2022/23 ski season. Today I took my son's skis in for a wax and was told that they would not be honoring the agreement. I already paid them in full for this service for the entire season. Not only was I told that, but I was rudely yelled at by the employee as I inquired about speaking to the owner. I have been a frequent user of their rentals for aprox a decade and today they ran off 7 loyal customers whom I had referred. I would strongly discourage anyone who wants to do business with Ski Haus as they have no integrity and do not keep their word once they have your money. read more

Unfortunately I am unable to leave less than 1 star. When doing business with a company I always try to choose the company with those with people that are respectful and genuine. I will never rent from this company again. We had a great experience when picking up our equipment (with the exception of someone else's hot packs still in our boots showing they obviously do not disinfect according to another bad review on here). When we left Snowbowl, we did not realize our girls had left their skis up there on the rack. We were traveling with our 4 kids and family from out of town that were new to Snowbowl. We also got dumped on during a winter storm. When we returned to Ski Haus we explained what had happened and that we were heading back up to Snowbowl now to get them. The lady at returns was very kind and told us to let the guys inside know. We went inside, explained to one gentleman the situation, and Josiah (I believe a manager) jumped in. He was very arrogant, asking us why we just decided to not bring them back and saying we were disrespecting them by forgetting the skis. He told us he would have to charge us $1000 ($500/ski set) until we returned with them. He even threw out "I can legally charge you for them now and not return your money". After negotiating he reluctantly accepted taking our ID and card number, and charging us another day to return them before they opened. He explained we wouldn't be able to get the skis as someone else would have picked them up. Well, we drove back to Snowbowl, found them where we left them, and called Josiah to let him know we had them and would be there when they opened their doors the following morning since they had already closed at 6pm. When we returned, a different manager was working and we asked if we would be charged since they can turn around and rent them that day. He was equally as arrogant and rude as Josiah and replied with "we opened at 7". We explained it was currently 7:03. He came back with "we have to disinfect it and let it sit for 8 hours". Really? We picked them up with the last persons hot packs still in them. Disgusting! It is one thing to do business with a company and everything goes right. It's when something doesn't go as planned that you see how they actually treat their customers. As an ICU nurse, I could never see treating a family like this! It showed they are not at all worried about customer service (or even being decent humans), and are much more worried about the money and trying to throw around their weight when they can. read more

When we need waxing or ski gear we stop in here - like new helmets we just bought. They are knowledgeable about their products and don't oversell. The guys are always so helpful and kind. Very unpleasant experience ever had. We rented the equipment for two days. But after first day skiing, we found the skis boots very hurt. And they are extremely hard to put the boots onto skis on snow ground. We brought them to Ski Haus store that evening. They refused to replace or repair them, and also refused to let us early return the second day renting. We cannot suffer the hurt for skiing another day.
