Service was better than my local Big 5 in California bit California is full of idiots so this was pleasant. The sales person was always asking if we needed to see more things. The selection was nice for ammo but was looking for hunting ammo since I am going hunting in Texas. Saw things I do not see or maybe my store in Dublin, CA does not have like .308 in bulk. Value seems the same...Same price in California but cheaper tax wins it! Like any other Big 5 and that is not bad. What is great is better service and cheaper tax in Flagstaff, TX. read more

If you find yourself in the Flagstaff area in need of sporting goods, your options are pretty much Big 5 and Target... I was happy that Big 5 carried kids (and adult) fishing gear during a recent visit, so I headed over to make a purchase. The staff was friendly and helpful enough, and everyone seemed to be abiding by Covid-19 precautions, which made me feel better about being out and about during a pandemic. I haven't been to Big 5 in years. I guess I was too busy raising kiddos. Now that the boys are in sports I feel like I am here so much I need to start paying rent. I love this place. It is one of the few retail stores that is always stocked with loads of size and options. It is one of the last sporting stores that have survived in Flagstaff and I think we need to shop here rather than heading online to keep it up and running. The camping and games section is where I find myself most often. They have a lot of great new items and games to kick off the summer camping season. I recently picked up a game called Spikeball and it is a blast! This store is truly a one stop shop for all things sports and outdoor. This is a great location for outdoor gear if you're camping in one of the nearby forests and need a quick resupply. We have shopped here twice, once while camping near Sedona, and a second time while camping outside Williams. Friendly staff here, mostly college age kids. Very knowledgeable and well groomed. Very, very disappointed with the level of customer service. From the moment we walked in we first made contact with this sour and unpleasant woman working at the register. She did not greet us but just stared with a scowl. We called prior to arriving to verify they had the equipment we needed in stock and told they did have it. When we asked the woman about where they kept the equips meant she replied in a condescending manner "No!" Nothing accompanied with it just a "No!" We tried to explained that we called this location a few minutes ago then she cut us off with another "No!" All she kept saying was "No." No dialogue was exchanged no anything. Very very disappointed with the experience. If someone is that miserable working there they shouldn't be in the customer service industry. read more

I'd have to say that unless you are into renting snow gear, this is your place for purchasing it up in flag. I'm talking skis, snowboards, sleds, boots, gloves, goggles, the whole nine yards. In particular, they have a wide selection of sleds--better than the location near my home in the valley at least. The staff is super friendly and even gave my wife and I a map of the surrounding forest and snow play areas. It's also in a great location being right off the 17 as you first get into Flag, so you don't have to venture off into some part of town to find it. read more

Not a fan of the location, as exiting Big 5 via Woodlands Blvd., and/or Beulah can be a challenge, if you're attempting to head north due to the traffic center at the intersection. Rude staff and incorrect price tags. Stopped by to pick up a couple pair of flip flops using a coupon my wife received from Big 5. Looked through their selection and found a couple of pairs that worked. When we went to check out, Tanya, the cashier said these items were on sale and the coupon couldn't be used. Even though there was no disclaimer about those terms on the coupon. We decided to leave. Went down to Phoenix and used the coupon on the same items with no problem. read more

Entering this establishment for the 100th time today I have to say I am very disappointed. I walked in the front door with sleds to exchange and the assistant manager said before the door even shut behind us - we don't return or exchange sleds, this was in a condescending manner. My husband purchased these and was never told of such a policy and she mentioned a sign, sorry he was not looking for a sign that indicated this policy. I only wanted to exchange for a more expensive boogie board type sled. We did not use these sleds (still had stickers and rope taped to them) and they were purchased a few days before. There hasn't been any snow to sled on from time of purchase until today. I don't care if the Phoenix people are the reason for this policy. I am a local of 15 years and my children attended local schools. I have purchased most of my families sports equipment here over the years and spent thousands and thousands of dollars at this sports store. I will no longer buy from big 5 as I received very rude treatment from the assistant manager. Don't expect your local loyalty to mean anything at this store as they will treat you like a number. Many times I've had terrible service here but have brushed it off to employment of college kids and poor training. Shop online or other retailers and avoid big 5. This isthe only store in Flagstaff that sells sports gear that i know of. Although their selection has improved over the years, their customer service is what earned them the three stars. It's almost like the employees careless to provide service or they just don't want to work especially at the front register. I get the same vibe with the management as well. If you don't like your job then find another one! Also your parking sucks. Re-do it and create more space per vehicle. read more

I went to this store to buy a pair of running shoes. The guy that was in charge of the shoe section not once asked me if I needed any help. I know this will sound crazy but he was only helping the white customers. I thought to myself well that's ok, I will find my way around the shoes and find a pair. It took me a while but I did find one I liked. I'm not going to be buying anything from this store again nor will I recommend the store. It's just terrible and I thought $$$ see no color. read more
