While I wanted to purchase so much more, we forced ourselves to stock up on only a few small odds and ends. The prices were slightly more expensive than online but being able to see it, hold it and try it on seemed worth the few extra dollars. The best part about Babbitt's? We went to dinner, realized we wanted to purchase something else, and were able to return and get it because of how late Babbitt's stays open. Bought a pair a shoes and found they had their Patagonia gear on sale too so ended up getting some great Patagonia trail gear too that helped us stay warm on the unexpectedly cool summer morning runs which was in the 40Fs. Bring long sleeves and light weight running hoodies if running at dawn. I didn't expect much as much for service, especially after my last store experience, however everyone was pleasant, polite and helpful. I was so satisfied I purchased a membership as well.

We swung in here to check out their selection during our stay in Flagstaff yesterday; I was looking for a new water bladder and even though I didn't find one that I could use for the pack I was using at the time, I really loved how they have a hand washing rig set up at the front of their store & they asked us to wash our hands before fully entering. Of course we took delight in this (simple, yet effective!) system since it was (just) a bucket, with an attached pump that you step on which pumps water out through a copper spigot. The only thing that was a lil hard to do was getting the soap dispenser to pump out soap since it's one you stick on a bathroom wall, and this was on a grid so you kinda had to squeeze the grid and the soap dispenser to make it work - but it worked! The selection of camping/hiking accessories and necessities were great - they have many different kinds of water bladders, clips, sleeping bags, light pullovers, some sling bags, sandals, backpacks, etc. The upstairs was a skateboard area which also made this shop more unique as it catered to more than just the camping & hiking public! The selection of boards, trucks, and also the colorful wall of frisbees really made it great to include these kinds of sports inside a mostly-geared-towards-camping/hiker shop!

We both found some great 2nd hand items and items that had been in the warehouse for some time. Great selections but the sale is totally deceiving. It knocks down items per date, but you have to look closely. Which was fine, we both liked our items but the gal who checked me out full price anyway.. $78 she gave me, she gave me 10% off but when we later looked at the tags, I should have only been charged $47!!! Matt spent a ton of time with me, asked all the right questions about how I ski (trees, bumps, charging variable snow, & park), and straight-up put me onto the Salomon QST 100s. He nailed it - they're absolutely perfect for the way I ride here. Mount point, base grind, and edges were dialed on the spot. The Armada boot fitting was on point. Appreciated the fact Matt wasn't trying to upsell anything extra for the boots until I rode in them at least once. Have noticed at other shops they'll try to upsell you on the fitting only to realize you didn't need it, but easily the most comfortable boots I've ever owned, and it only took one session. No rush, no hard sell, just Matt and the crew genuinely geeking out on getting everything perfect. This place still feels like the classic local ski shop that actually lives on the mountain.
