It seemed like half the store was 40% off so we looked around then went to the shoe section. I found some full price Merrell shoes to try. The clerk was having a conversation with a customer about possible Grand Canyon hikes which was interesting....for the first 5 minutes. Made eye contact with the clerk but nothing, just kept talking about hikes and never about the shoes being tried on. Got up and looked for someone else to help but no one available after a lap of the store. Went back to the shoe department, the clerk was STILL talking about hikes and ignoring me standing there with the shoe. Put the shoe back on the shelf, we left and spent our money elsewhere. While we don't give off the hardcore "outdoors" vibe this store is definitely not as cool as they think they are. We were also ignored when first walking through the store while hearing another customer being offered help. Good thing there are a dozen other stores selling the same stuff within a square mile of old downtown. Maybe why so much of the merchandise was 40% off?

But there was no one that I could see in the store helping customers. I waited a bit but no one ever came. The worst part is as I went up to the counter there were 4 employees behind the counter- 2 on their phones texting or whatever and 2 employees just chatting with each other. Never mind- I live in the Eastern Sierra and can buy my pair at Sage to Summit or East Side in Bishop, CA where I have always found them to go above and beyond on customer service!

Matt spent a ton of time with me, asked all the right questions about how I ski (trees, bumps, charging variable snow, & park), and straight-up put me onto the Salomon QST 100s. He nailed it - they're absolutely perfect for the way I ride here. Mount point, base grind, and edges were dialed on the spot. The Armada boot fitting was on point. Appreciated the fact Matt wasn't trying to upsell anything extra for the boots until I rode in them at least once. Have noticed at other shops they'll try to upsell you on the fitting only to realize you didn't need it, but easily the most comfortable boots I've ever owned, and it only took one session. No rush, no hard sell, just Matt and the crew genuinely geeking out on getting everything perfect. This place still feels like the classic local ski shop that actually lives on the mountain. Huge thanks to Matt and everyone at Ski Haus - you've got a customer for life. If you're anywhere in Arizona and need gear that's set up right for Snowbowl, do yourself a favor and go here. We already left town by then, but wonder how many others are buying full for "sale" items. Make sure to check your receipt!

Any of the other stores that carry shoes Id say are a better pick if it's selection or staff with experiential knowledge of their products that you're looking for.

I got them out this winter and realized there was a tear in one of the rubber sections and it was tearing away from the metal spikes. My family needed some items for both our dogs and gardening Luckily for us, Cal Ranch has it all.. and then some. This store is truly the master of all trades. From farm essentials, animal feed, outdoor equipment, gardening supplies, sweet treats, clothing, home decor, they truly have it all. The staff does seem pretty distant and uninterested in shoppers. I don't mind being ignored, but it does make me understand the negative reviews a bit better. I loved seeing the baby chicks and am now debating if I need chickens.
