If you've read my reviews you know I only review thoroughly if something is really bad or really good. It feels like forever but this is an overwhelming awesome adventure. I of course will give an objective positive and negative because most things have room for improvement. So with all this covid junk interfering with summer vacation I wanted to get awsy with my son and this sounded good. I called and asked about availability and the hirl who answered was so helpful and enthusiastic. When I had more questions a few days later a guy answered and he was just as pleasant and helpful. When I realized I was calling at 8pm I appologized and he said that they ste always on call. So i went to book for us and my daughter and it went smoothly. I was so busy with work that the day before we left I realized I didnt know what to prepare but then that day someone called to pre-emptively give me the rundown. So helpful! We left our hotel in Williams and got to where the gps took us and I was a bit confused that there were no signs. Called and someone answered and reassured me I was in the right place. Went to check in and was told they didnt have our waivers which I know I filled out online so that was a bit annoying to do again. The bus ride to the river was bumpy but no big deal and as soon as we got there we were greeted by our guide Randy and his trainee Jordan. They made introductions righ off the bat and remembered our names. That may seem minor but it certainly sets the tone for good rapport. The rapids were so much fun- we were lauging the while time, getting soaked and felt perfectly safe. Randy was a great host- explaining landmarks and history as we went and both of them were constantly offering us snacks and drinks even though we brought our own. Our own pack was safe and dry the entire trip and we never felt that anything was scary or that they didnt know what they were doing. We stopped at a very cool waterfall which was a nice break. We stopped for lunch which they provided- nothing fancy- hoagy sandwiches with fruit- and they looked and tasted fresh. Worried about who packed them? That's your problem. The Arizona Indian tribes have been hit very hard by covid and they take it very seriously so I am confident that the food was prepared in a sanitary fashion. And none of us are sick. So we stopped a few more times so th as t we could jump in the water because it does get very hot. We got to see the skywalk from down below and officially saw the end of the Grand Canyon. I was very happy to give our guides tips because they made it a great adventure. So ready for the negatives? 1- something that only God or Mother Nature could change- all the rapids were at the beginning. So they rapids were done within the firat 2 hours. The rest of the trip was flat- beautiful but flat. 2. The bus ride back is a drag. Raft from 9 to about 5 and then a 2 hour bus ride back to where you started. Then add your own drive back to where youre staying and youre racing to find dinner at a place that's open. It may seem expensive but when you factor in labor, the equipment and food, it's well worth it for a super memorable adventure. Do it! read more

An excellent option to see the Grand Canyon from the inside. We rafted in October, took the motorized full day trip with the helicopter exit and SkyWalk and here are some tips: 1) Definitely bring a rain jacket or some kind of waterproof covering. Even if you bring a full rain suit you'll still get wet as the water will literally splash INTO your clothes so it's not worth wearing full pants & jacket. 2) Tie everything onto your body. Hat, glasses, valuables, etc. The 7+ rapids are quick but intense. My husband was sitting at the front of our boat and got airborne at least 3 times on the big rapids. His hat is gone but luckily his glasses were on a string and survived. The dry bags on the boat are huge and work great so your stuff will stay dry. 3) Wear some level of draining footwear with grippy bottoms. Do not wear sandals or crocs. Travertine Falls is amazing but the climb there is definitely not "easy". There are rope ladders and a literal climbing rope but the rocks are slippery and you'll want as much grip and toe cover as possible. 4) Don't pack in food or drinks unless you have dietary restrictions. They have coolers filled with tons of water, juice, snacks and soda. Even the long bus ride back has plenty of drinks and food available. 5) Bring something warm to throw on before lunch. There's a period after the rapids but before the break where you'll be soaking wet and cold (except in the summer). Having something warm to layer on will help! 6) The helicopter ride is amazing but under 7 minutes long. If you're not interested in the SkyWalk, pass on that and ride down to the lower stop. 7) The SkyWalk is cool but it's not necessarily worth the money. If you've been to the South Rim or other areas of the Canyon, the view at those is better than the SkyWalk area. read more

The Hualapai family is a wonderful great people so warm and beautiful they made me feel absolutely safe. I met some really wonderful people on the tour. We all had a great vibe going, I just applauded our tour guide Louis what a wonderful personality. We went on a road trip from Phoenix to San Francisco, and decided to do river rafting in the Grand Canyon, but our time was very limited, we only had one day to do that. We found that Rivers and Oceans had a 1-day tour, so we booked it. It cost about $360 per person, and it includes transportation to and from the river (from the Hualapai Lodge in Peach Springs), guides and food, drinks, snacks. https://www.riversandoceans.com/product/one-day-grand-canyon-whitewater-rafting-trips/ Everything was super well organized. The bus drivers were very nice and gave us info about everything on the route to the bottom of the Canyon. The raft pilots are all from the Hualapai tribe, extremely nice and knowledgeable about the Canyon and the river. The trip itself was great, we hit about 7 rapids and many scenic stops, including a waterfall (bit of hiking here). Absolutely no need to have Indiana Jones expertise, the Hualapai team that commands the journey is very professional and safety is their main concern. Notes: I believe the ideal season to do the river rafting is between June and September, because the river water is VERY cold, so the hot weather helps (you get pitch wet after a rapid crossing, but due to the high temperature and dry air you will be totally dry in 15 minutes... yes.. it is that hot and dry). Temperatures can easily climb to 100F and above, dress light. Forget water resistant closing, no mater what: you will get wet, unless you dress like an astronaut, and then you fry in the heat. If you take a camera use a waterproof digital camera, but only take pictures during flats and smooth drifting, letting your hand go from the handles during a rapid crossing could mean a fall off the boat, which is not really dangerous but why take a chance? Only use hats or caps that have a string under your chin, the impact with waves will knock then off otherwise (and our guide insisted in saying "if the hat is blown off just let it go... it is JUST a HAT!). Same for glasses, if they don't have a safety band you will lose them. We took a change of closes for the trip back, but we didn't need it, since we dried off when we reached the end of the journey. Also no need to take water, sodas and snacks or food, everything is provided during the trip downriver (there is a lunch stop, with cold sandwiches, chips, sodas, etc.). The bathroom is the river, or a bush during one of the stops. They take pictures during the trip, they will be available at the Hualapai Lodge when you return. Please tip the boat captain and the bus drivers, they do an awesome job. It was a great adventure, highly recommended if you only have 1 day to experience the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River. STAY AWAY!! After getting up at 2:30am in the morning in Sedona and driving three hours for our one day river rafting they canceled the trip when we walked in to register. The young girl was laughing on the phone and offered no apology or reasonable explanation. They simply said people didn't show up to work today. This trip had been booked for months in advance for a family vacation. not only was the front desk staff rude and unwelcoming, no one offered any apology. They did say if we came back we would get half off, what a joke! After reading several more reviews we saw how unreliable and unprofessional this company is. We made the best of it and had fun elsewhere and will never go back there. The most frustrating thing of all was the lack of sympathy kindness and professionalism from this no class staff. They also told me I would have to wait over 10 days to get a refund on my credit card and would not give me any written proof of a upcoming refund. Of course I called visa promptly when we left. you have been warned stay away from this company! read more

I would give this trip a 10 star rating!!! Dave was the team leader and I cannot say enough about him and the team. Their first priority is your safety, followed by your comfort. The team was extremely well organized and prepared for anything. Dave was incredibly informative about history, geology, folklore. There was more than plenty of food and beverages throughout the entire trip. We went the first weekend in May, two boats, 9 vacationers in the group and we had the entire canyon to ourselves!!! We saw one day boat pass us on the first day and only one other day boat pass us the second day. We were told that in July they are very busy and the boats are lined up at some of the stopping places and so our experience was much more intimate and almost religious. This was our first time (we are city slickers) and we followed the tips provided by Rivers and Oceans which were very helpful. OUR TIP: You will not be able to access your belongings from the time they are first loaded onto the boats until you get to camp at the end of the first day and again from the morning of the next day until the trip is over. We recommend a small dry bag with a carabiner clip that you can clip on the inside of the boat. This bag should contain what you might need during the day when you won't have access to your stuff (sunscreen, lip balm, small towel, tissues, medications, rain gear). Also, on the last leg of the return trip 9after lunch) you will get sprayed quite a bit (ride is about 30 minutes, water was cold!) and we suggest a warm sweatshirt or long sleeve shirt with a waterproof hooded rain jacket over that. read more
