Slick rock after coming out of Coyote Gulch

We have hiked with Wildland Trekking 4 summers in a row now. We started with the Rim to Rim Grand Canyon hike in 2018. We had such an amazing experience that we tried a hike in Utah the next summer - followed by 2 more Utah hikes. We have consistently been blown away by the experiences that Wildland offers. The top notch guides are incredible. We requested the same guide the past 3 years - but our large family has worked with 5 different guides in total and they're all amazing - people who obviously love what they do. Our guides have taught us so much about the history of the people and the areas where we hike. They've pointed out things we never would have noticed on our own and taken us on side hikes which add so much to the experience. They've also taught us how to be better hikers and campers. More aware of how to fully "leave no trace." The experiences, the gear, the guides, and the FOOD, we would give 10/5 stars if we could. If you're thinking about giving Wildland a try - do it. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing day hike into the Grand Canyon. Our guide (Dakota) was extremely friendly and easy to get along with. He was super knowledgeable about the history and geology of the area which enhanced our experience. Dakota also made a bomb quesadilla and was quick with a good dad joke. The best part was he went at our pace and didn't push.

I've been thinking about this trip and my review and what I could possibly say to let everyone know this is the jam. It is, but I don't feel words can do this tour group justice. My love and I wanted to see Havasu Falls and decided we wanted to pay the extra to do it right with a tour group to ensure we got when we wanted and didn't battle the permit fight. A bonus to going to Havasu through the trip we picked was it was a portered trip which means we carried our day packs but they trekked down all supplies and camp gear on horses and set it all up. This was the ultimate glamping and I'm just not sure how I can go back to normal camping. lol We had the pleasure of Ken and Josh leading our motley crew. Both were knowledgeable and friendly and lead our group through the trails safely without any issues. A few times on some of the Havasu trails I struggled with my comfort zone and Ken and Josh were both there to help talk me through it and walk back from ledge so to speak. We did a 4 day/3 night tour through Havasu Falls campground and the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Our trip included a final night on the south rim that included a lavish dinner at El Tovar. It was an awesome way to end the fabulous trip with the group. Our trip included the tour guides guiding us on our adventure, at camp they set it up and cooked all the meals for us. Consciously cooking for everyone with dietary restrictions factored. Every meal was delicious and healthy. Enough food for an army! My mister had announced in advance it was my birthday and they had a birthday dessert set up for me that first night which was very sweet and unexpected since I hadn't planned to mention my birthday. The day we hiked up from Havasu we lucked out because that night the campground was flooded and over 200 people had to be evacuated from the area via helicopter. Monsoon season was in full force. I know we all got lucky but I felt our guides helped keep us safe and out of the inclement weather. We ended up speaking with the guide who did guide the group who was down in the canyon when the monsoon hit and he lead them to safety and ahead of the storm as much as possible. I mention this because this is a perfect example of why to spend the extra money when doing something like this. If we had been on our own I'd like to believe we'd have been fine, but with the experts who were our guides they lead us to safety and that group to safety because they know the area. They know what the weather looks like, where to go if in a hurry to get out of it, and how to stay safe because the guides are locals who know this area inside and out. This is huge when navigating a rural, wild area with chances of monsoon rains. Everything about this trip experience was great from when I first put in my interest request to the last moment of the trip. I've already looked online to see where else Wildland goes because in a heartbeat I'd travel with them again. Top quality through and through. I can't wait for the next adventure together.

Woodland, and specifically our guide Cody, were fantastic at every turn in our plans at Yosemite. Can't recommend them enough. Took care of every detail and were excellent communicators. If you're looking for a great experience at Yosemite, definitely call them.

First ever guided hike and it was to Havasu Falls. Best trip of my life. Once in a lifetime location. Pics attached. Our guide- Kurt was the best. Great, funny guy that had an absolute passion for the wilderness. He did a great job showing us the canyon and falls, as well as hidden spots. Packed great meals. He challenged each us to experience the most of the trip, even if it was out of our comfort zone. And we cleaned up trash on our way out of the canyon! Overall very happy with this organization, the guide, and the location. Would want to have Kurt take me on the rim to rim hike.

Just finished Death Valley Basecamp tour. It's the best experience I've ever had. I cruise, travel, camp, you name it. This was fantastic. I think if you don't go you will miss out of a lifetime experience. Before the trip, if I had to list everything I thought would make the trips great I could not have imagined the extraordinary experience. This trip outpaced my expectations at every turn. Our guides, Tracey and Janelle were professionals who knew the trails, knew what to look for, shared immense knowledge, and were great cooks. I'll be back. Again and again. Thank you. #wildlandtrekking. You and your guides are AMAZING!!!!

    Backpacking the Grand Canyon

Pretty sure I just went on the best backpacking trip of my LIFE! I booked a 2 night, 3 day Grand Canyon Classic backpacking trip. The prices may seem a tad bit high, especially since Wildland does not cover airfare and hotel accommodation costs. However, I'm telling you as a customer that it is worth every penny. I'll try not to write a book about how good my trip was with Wildland. Around 2 weeks before my trip date, Ron, my tour guide, personally called me to give me details about the trip. He was very personable, and told me to contact him with any other questions I had. My entire trip in a nutshell: 1. The day before the trip: I met with Ron and 4 other hikers in my group to go over the trip info. Ron passed out our backpacks and even allowed us to choose snacks to take on the trip! He explained clear details about our destinations and told us what items we should bring in our packs. 2. My guide: I was SO lucky to be put in to Ron's group because he has been working with Wildland pretty much from the start. He's hiked/backpacked through the Grand Canyon more than 100 times (unbelievable) and was SO knowledgeable about the national park. Honestly he could pass as iron man because he carried over 70+ pounds in his pack, all the while constantly on his feet to make sure my group was ok. He was so patient with us, especially when we began to struggle with the hike. I felt safe during the entire trip because of Ron. Word of advice: request Ron as your guide while booking a trip at the Grand Canyon! You won't regret it. I promise. 3. The food: Man oh man... If you think of food such as boring sandwiches and granola bars while camping, you haven't traveled with Wildland. Ron made delicious and healthy lunch sandwiches, curry and pasta for dinner, breakfast casserole, and oatmeal right on the campground itself. It was SO cool seeing fresh vegetables being cut up in the Grand Canyon. Ron even brought dessert such as Milano's cookies and chocolates. It was amazing. 4. Camp gear: Wildland provides all camp gear including packs, sleeping pads and bags, and tents and poles. The tents were really easy to set up, and Ron went out of his way to make sure my tent was secure- especially since there was a storm during my second night! As I'm sitting at the airport writing this review, I can't stop thinking about how FUN this trip was. One advice I would give to individuals wanting to hike with Wildland is to train! The Grand Canyon classic is a level 3 hike, but it was definitely challenging nonetheless, and I had to take frequent oxygen and water breaks. THANK YOU Wildland and Ron for the most amazing backpacking trip. I will never forget it, and I would definitely go on another trip with Wildland in the near future.

Wildland Trekking is THE company to use when going on a backpacking trip to a national park. My sister and I recently did the 4-day Hermit Loop Hike in the Grand Canyon with Wildland and had a fantastic experience. From the very beginning, the company is very communicative and makes sure that you have chosen the appropriate hike for your skill/fitness level. Hermit Loop was a 4/5 in difficulty so the company was proactive in checking in to make sure this hike was a good fit. My sister has migraines that could have posed a problem for our trip and they were super helpful in making sure she could participate (and communicating how they would deal if she did have a severe migraine on the trip). They provide all the appropriate gear (backpack, sleeping bag/pad, tent) as well as the food (the guide cooks your meals! how luxurious!). I have food allergies and they made accommodations to ensure that our meals were safe for me to eat. Unfortunately my sister did fall ill halfway through the trip with some sort of stomach bug and the guide was very proactive. He called the main office and Wildland sent an additional guide into the canyon on our last day to meet us for the hike out. He took a bunch of my sister's gear and led the rest of our group out so she could go at her own pace. Our trip was beautiful and I could not be happier that I chose Wildland to do it with.

A great experience with this company on a trip to Havasupai. Our guide, Kevin Manning was awesome. Communication throughout the reservation and planning process was very consistent and well organized. Kevin did an amazing job as our guide with spectacular meals even though we were backpacking. He took us on routes and allowed us to see things we would have not been able to do easily without him. His knowledge of the Havasupai history, the canyon, and backpacking experience were top notch. Looking forward to using this company again for another adventure.

Just finished 23 Miles and one left to go....the guides encouraged me to make it to the top!

Just as the days become shorter and the temperatures cool, the Aspen leaves adorn the forest with a glorious yellow hue that seems to first absorb, and then reflect, the sunshine. While not the only location for getting your Fall groove on, we found "Humphrey's Peak Trail" (and its surrounding environs) to be generous providers of the vibes we were seeking. None of the trails that we traveled were paved and their difficulty ranged from easy to moderate. However, as you travel up the mountain you'll find that the rocky outcroppings become more frequent and the hike becomes more strenuous. Before long you'll find yourself at 10,000 feet, so you'll be in much thinner air than you're likely used to and your water/rest breaks should increase accordingly. Each trail we explored was well traveled, but the buddy system is still recommended (if for no other reason than to have someone to marvel at the beauty with). Wildlife sightings are common, but it is the rare sightings of Big Foot that are the most cherished. Ample parking and portable restrooms can be found at the trailhead located at the end of Lot 1 of the Arizona Snowbowl Resort. For those interested in traditional restrooms and/or a restaurant, both are located at the resort and an easy walk from this parking lot. If you visit Flagstaff in the Fall, please don't find yourself "leaving" without experiencing the "leafing" all around you this time of year! And that's...Henry's Take. I will admit I am not much of a hiker, and still a week later am not necessarily walking the same as I did before I went on this trip, but I will also say that it was worth EVERY second of it. Havasupai Falls alone is enough to make the trip worth it with it's beautiful water falls and pristine scenery, but going on the trip with Walkabout made it 100 times better. Included in the price of the trip is transportation, pack mules to carry your stuff in and out so you don't have a heavy pack on your back, all camping fees and equipment and gourmet meals for the 3 days you are there. Who would have thought we would be fed Salmon, Chicken Fajitas and Chocolate chip pancakes at the bottom of a canyon!! The two guides who took us on the trip were so patient and kind and pushed me limits I never thought I could go. It is nice to know that next time I go to Havasupai with Walkabout, they give you the option of taking a helicopter or horse ride in or out of the canyon!! I am glad I hiked it the first time, but in the future the horseback riding looks fun as well. I was the less experienced hiker and wanted my sister to be able to enjoy the hike without worrying about me. So, I hired Four Seasons Guides for a day hike in February. We had a wonderful experience, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Our guide, Steve, was charming, knowledgeable, very experienced, and took very good care of us. We had our own packs and poles, but he had some on hand just in case. Breakfast fruit and muffins were provided as well as a hot lunch set up as a picnic and snacks for the trail. My sister was anxious to get on with the hike, and I was always stopping to look at the view or ask Steve some random question about canyon geology or history (which he always knew the answer to). Somehow, due to his expertise and great people skills, we both came away thinking we each had the perfect day. Steve took away all the worry about the weather, route, wildlife (there were elk on the trail and several donkey trains passed us) and made the hike much more fun and interesting. Also, other experienced local hikers that we met on the trail let us know that Four Seasons Guides were the best and we were in good hands. If you want a fun, worry free day I highly recommend them.
