My takeout order of Lean Brisket & Dark Meat Chicken with potato salad and seasoned rice was very delicious, fresh and flavorful. I would say it was like a sibling meal version of Goode Company Bbq, but a bit milder in taste in both meats and in the rice. They even give that same type of good jalapeño toast too. The brisket was very beefy, tender, seasoned enough, had great smokiness and deep pink rings on the edge with a nice bark. The chicken had a nice, tasty skin layer and very juicy, tasty flesh under it. The rice was savory, a bit meaty and yet, kind of subtle all at the same time. I always got this rice side when coming here once in awhile since 2011 or 2012. I liked the bbq sauce with its tomato base, mild sweetness and peppery notes. I didn't use much of it, bc the meats didn't need it, but still prefer some on them anyway. I don't like most potato salad, but do enjoy a really good one. I would put this one second to the one from Killen's I tried it from the other day and better obviously than the more recent Goode Company potato salad. BBQ taste like 1day old meat. It lacks flavor and freshness. Baked potato never cooked through. The women who worked there lack customer service. The Gentleman is a bit more kind but can improve in customer service. Word of advice give the customer what they ask for or make accommodations that will bring the customer back even though the food is not 100% great. The place was once a great spot when previous owners ran it. Avoid the weekends after 8pm many drunks from the bar next door. I will never return to this establishment again. Overall it was good but not great. I had the brisket and pork ribs. I always try this when I go to new barbecue spots to do a fair comparison and I always order the juicy side of the brisket. The brisket was okay not bad tasting and just a little to fatty but cooked nicely. I did not have much of a hickory, apple or smoke taste which I was looking for. The ribs were good but not fall off the bone good. I like my beans a bit on the sweet side and nope not the case here more traditional and that is cool. The salad is really basic with iceberg lettuce, which I hate (I'm not sure if they wash their lettuce), tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, and cheese topped with chopped beef. You can get it topped with any meat. The service is hit or miss, borderline rude from the women. The guy who cuts the meat is a little more pleasant. The dining area is usually pretty quiet and empty. There's a bar/lounge area in the next room which usually has more customers than the restaurant. Next time I won't get a salad. read more

I went here with a friend yesterday to pick up some food for a house party. We got these jalapeño sausage turkey and brisket. All of the food prepared very well service was great the jalapeño sausage was really hot make sure you have something to drink when you eat it. The brisket was tender and the turkey was excellent. I cannot tell you how disappointing this place is. I know my first clue should've been that it was in a strip mall, but sometimes I ignore warning signs. The food here is very, very expensive. Along with being very expensive it is very bad. I ordered the three meat plate with brisket, sausage and ribs. I asked for sauce and that was probably my first mistake. The sauce was chunky and looked a little bit like a spaghetti sauce. It was incredibly unappetizing, it was also see-through which meant that it had no thickness which is the exact opposite of actual barbecue sauce generally. I didn't eat the ribs because I lost my appetite and the sausage was just OK. I then got two sides, the jalapeño beans and potato salad. These people should shut this place down just for having the audacity to serve potato salad that tastes like it came from the grocery store next door.
