okra stew in the back, egusi in the front
    Raisa Z.

I crave this restaurant every two weeks. I usually get the egusi stew and efo stew with fufu. The okra stew is also very good. I also tried their Suya wings, those were okay, beware the sauce is very spicy if you have a low spice tolerance! The restaurant design is very modern and clean. The dining space is a little small but it's not much of a problem!

I had some credit on a food ordering site and decided to try out a new restaurant with it. I am really glad I took a chance on Aria Suya! I placed a to-go order and it was ready for pick up in 15ish minutes. I ordered the ox-tail Suya, which is a Nigerian grilled meat rubbed with suya spice. A quick Google search reveals "suya spice (yaji) - a dry spice mix containing ground peanut snacks known as kuli kuli, with other spices such as cayenne pepper, ginger, paprika, and onion powder." I love ox-tail for how tender the meat is, and this dish was no exception. There was a decent portion of ox-tail, and the meat fell off the bone. Little bits of cartilage were a tasty treat too. The spices was balanced between spiciness and flavor although a bit salty. You have an option between Jollof rice and plantains, and I went with the rice. It had a nice tomato-y flavor but some of the rice was dried and stuck together, indicating it may not have been the freshest. There were pieces of raw red onions, 2 slices of cucumber, and 1 slice of tomato. I think the dish would be better served either with no veggies or an intentional serving of veg. I would have loved to see more greens in this dish as it was a bit heavy on its own. Inside, the restaurant appears brand new with great lighting and comfy seats. Looking forward to trying more Nigerian food here. So glad Pearland is getting its share of diverse restaurants!

My sister and I have been wanting to try Nigerian food for the longest time, but there are not many locations near us that serve it. We were excited to see that a restaurant in Pearland had it. We went around 3 in the afternoon, and the restaurant wasn't crowded at all, which was understandable because 3 pm is not a common time to eat. The place is decorated lovely with unique furniture that sets it apart from other restaurants. Instead of dining in, most people seemed to do takeout orders. Because the place wasn't busy at all, the staff were readily available to help us and were super friendly, recommending us dishes to try based on our spice tolerances and protein preferences. They first brought out a complementary plate of plantain chips with a dipping sauce. Although I have no idea what the sauce was, it was one of the best tasting things I have ever tried, making this an excellent start to my dining experience. For an appetizer, we ordered the Suya Wings with the Jamaican jerk sauce. These wings were so good that I would categorize them as the top five best chicken wings I've ever had. They were made fresh to order and were packed with flavor because of the complex seasonings and delicious jerk sauce. They were also super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. My sister and I also ordered the Pounded Yam with Beef Egusi. The egusi was super flavorful, and I loved the texture of the pounded yam. However, I wish they served more beef in the egusi. In addition, we ordered the Oxtail Suya, which came with a side of Jollof Rice. Even though the flavor and seasoning of the oxtail was spot on, the different pieces were inconsistent, with some being tender and others being hard and tough. I also found the Jollof Rice unfortunately unpleasant with its taste, being reminiscent to the smell of fire and gasoline. Overall, I loved my dining experience here, and I would come back to try more dishes and order the plates that I thoroughly enjoyed the first time. I think this place deserves more hype, especially considering how unique it is to the area.

My husband and I decided to try this place out for lunch. Parking was easy and plenty. When we walked in it wasn't crowded at all and we sat where we wanted. The server was nice and helpful since this was our first time dining here. I just think she needs more confidence in speaking up and talking face to face. The ambience was nice and the seating was comfortable. The food was so delicious and flavorful!! It was definitely seasoned to perfection!! I had the shrimp plate with sweet plantains and was definitely satisfied. My hubby got the meat platter and he definitely enjoyed that with plenty to take home. We definitely will be back to try some other items on the menu. Tip- if you are coming for dinner I don't think they have a liquor license yet because I didn't see any wine or anything listed on the drink menu. Just soft drinks listed. Thanks!

Chicken , spinach, rice, and the white bread absolutely delicious.

The food is indeed very tasty, and the marinade is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. Service was amazing as well.

    Egusi with pounded yam

We decided to try Nigerian food for the first time. We ordered the beef oxtails, sampler, egusi with pounded yam, and side of plantains. The oxtail and sampler were a bit dry. We liked the plantains with the tomato base sauce. We think that egusi is an acquired taste. We also tried the Chapman, which was an okay drink. They didn't have the zobo. The decor is classy with black, white and gold themes. Our waitress was helpful with our questions and truthful about what she thinks.

Wall art and nice light fixtures.

Food: The food is seasoned and cooked to perfection! It's so yummy! If you're a meat lover I recommend the Sampler Suya! Service: Exceptional! The staff are always kind and helpful. Ambiance: It's such a nice place. It's a hidden jewel in Pearland. Always nice and clean! The decor is also nice. It's great for a date, girls night, solo, large group or take out. I'm so glad I found Aria Suya Kitchen!

    Fantastic Jollof Rice Combo !!!

I went here to this location for the first time and had been to the original Houston location several times in the past. I always got the awesome Lamb Chops Plate, but wanted to try a poultry plate this time. Well, I tried something new here on my first visit at this new location. I ordered the Jollof Rice Plate with Chicken. Every aspect including the chicken leg, thigh, kale with shrimp, plantains and jollof rice were all very delicious, very well-seasoned and very moist in feel. The chicken was both baked and grilled in their own prep with a great, spicy and tomato aroma to it. The exterior was obvious in baking style with a good firmness and soft interior, while having a bit of grill taste too. I especially liked the thigh for its extra savoriness from the spices and extra juiciness. The kale was not as earthy and sour as it could be due to how they make it. The shrimp in it were not too fishy either like shrimp sometimes can be. The rice was smoky, savory, spicy and oily like a fried rice, but thicker in each grain as well. It's an addictive rice in this cuisine that you could even eat all by itself. The plantains were grilled nicely and had that pleasant dessert sweetness at the same time complimenting the rest of the meal. I love plantains in general and also really liked the plantain chips n red sauce before the food came. The cool tomato slice was another good addition with this hot meal. Great, efficient and very welcoming service from my server. I didn't get the Zobo Punch this time to both save calories and money, but it's very refreshing with a tart hibiscus flavor if u want a great tropical drink here, js.

Went to the newest location in Pearland. The staff was very friendly and helpful in assisting me to choose a meal that I would like. The restaurant has very nice decor and is inviting. The food was excellent! I have no complaints and will return.

Loved the complimentary plantain chips with seasoned dip. Beef suya is better than chicken or shrimp, though the shrimp is really good. Chicken is a little tough. Seasoning all around great. Plantains were perfectly cooked and caramelized. Sunday afternoon had one kind employee doing front, orders, and cleaning, so be patient for good food!

    Chicken suya and zobo
    Southern B.

Dining area is very modern and trendy. A friend from Sierra Leone and I went for the first time. You get plantain chips and some spicy sauce to dip it in while waiting to order.....it was very good. I ended up ordering the chicken Suya which comes with jollof rice, while my friend had the seafood spinach/okra and pounded yam. Taste wise everything was pleasant, though my chicken was a tad dry. Everything was flavorful otherwise. I also ordered a zobo to wash it all down. While I drank it, I'd probably never order it again- it's tart and for me a bit of an acquired taste. Overall, I'm glad Pearland is getting more diverse with their restaurant choices. I'll be back to try the egusi next.

Bottom line, plenty of spaces. Side note, they're not all spaced the way you might expect. Walking in, the place was hopping. Much more crowded than the former business. Pretty good sized menu. They serve you the red salsa, but you can ask for the green. The kind that gives you heart burn for hours. Worth it. Both salsa were great, chips were fresh. We ordered house margaritas, and those were also very good. Pricing was average. For food we ordered the parrillada El Malecon. Mixed beef and chicken, with ribs and quail. Here's where things went a little rough. We ordered the "for two" but the entire was still in a " for one" portion. 3 pieces of steak, 3 chicken, one quail 2 rib portions. Definitely seemed off. The manager came by, and we discussed. On THEIR menu, the double portion is only 4 strips of steak, 4 of chicken, still only one quail, and two rib portions. The reasoning we were given is that people don't seem to like the quail. First, nothing about this is "for two." For 45.99 this isn't it. The chicken and beef were good, the quail was not seasoned well unfortunately, and the ribs were over sauced with a cheap syrupy sauce. Overall food was a no. But here's where I also have to give credit. They stuck with their defense, and while we discussed someone brought a plate of chicken and beef. While we weren't going to ask for anything, we do appreciate their thoughtfulness and speedy resolution. Maybe they knew it was coming , or maybe they just jumped ahead to make it work. Either way, we appreciated that effort. Overall, service was great, food was 50/50. Wouldn't do the parrilladas again, but would try other menu items.

They worked as a smooth team incase the one who was helping you was busy and you needed something sorted. I would give 10 if it was possible. Food on the other hand, for a vegetarian- only the Karma bowl for an entree. Its like you choose your grains, ur veges, and sauce and they will put it all together over heat and give you. Mine was ok and I probably could have added a lot of veges as my bowl was only 1/2 full. It is one price for one bowl, irrespective of how much of what you add. Taste wise, it was ok as I had no idea how much of sauce would go into it or the spice level. The second order was vegetable roll. We asked for a little customized version of excluding mushrooms. They brought it with 'kanpyo' instead and forgot the carrots First of all kanpyo looks like mushroom and didn't have the faintest idea that they were very different things , secondly carrots were no where to be seen. When called to enquire, they apologized and took back the order without a minute's hesitation and made a fresh batch made with no mushroom no kanpyo and carrots included. Appreciated that very much. Food wise summery, the bowl or the roll. I definitely preferred the roll and when soaked in sriracha, it exploded in my mouth with flavors. The first one just fell into sriracha by mistake and got drenched, after I tasted that I drowned the next ones in myself...... The place is maintained spotless and the bar was filled to capacity at 5 pm. They do have TV with closed captions . Very limited vegetarian options but you won't go hungry.

It's a nice to have a bar that's open until 2 am in Pearland. Our server was nice, but not very efficient. We had to ask for things multiple times before she brought it. For instance, instead of asking the entire table if we wanted water, she only brought out one water when I requested it (twice). Generally if one guest is asking for something like silverware or water, you would think the server would ask the rest of the party if they would also like the same request. We also had to ask for paper towels for our table. They had a summer drink menu on the table even though it was January. I asked the server if the bar was able to make the drinks and she said she wasn't sure but would check. I ordered some sort of cucumber cocktail and it was basically a vodka tonic. There was no cucumber in the drink anywhere, but at least it was a heavy pour. I also had a Deep Eddy Lime with Tonic. For apps, we had Fried Okra and Boudin Balls. The okra was good and it came with quite a few French fries as well as a side of ranch dressing. I don't eat Boudin often, but this one was good.
