Service was a 10/10. The vegetales on the make your own bowl table were fresh and delicious. I also loved the spiciness of the crawfish roll. The ambiance was peaceful and quiet. We will definitely be back!

On January 17,2026, Me and my friend wanted to our sushi fix. Our waiter shared that they had a new Happy Hour menu ,so I decided to order all my food and drinks from that menu . Also, our waiter was very friendly and gave us amazing service. The ambiance was warm and inviting ,and also they played good music for everyone to listen too. Mongo, will always be that prefect place to for affordable good food, and great drinks hands down!!!

I have never reviewed this place, but it is an oldie but goodie. I have been here several times and it never disappoints. Happy is , stir fry is fresh, and sushi is delish. I usually sit at the bar and Joe is an awesome bartender. My fave drink is the Lycee Martini. Nothing too great about the decor, but it's clean and plenty of seating. I personally like to make my own bowl with Pad Thai noodles or rice. Another good option is their combo. You have your choice of sashimi, sushi, or roll.

This is a large, open restaurant with booths and tables. You can order bowls off the menu or go up and choose your ingredients. Our server, Rana, was quite helpful as this was our first time here. We had stuffed jalapeños as an appetizer and it was yummy. Hubby had the Mongolian seafood bowl and I had the Thai pepper beef bowl. Both were quite delicious as was my peach margarita. We will be back.

Met up with a couple of friends Thursday night for their all day happy hour and sat at the bar. The service at the bar was great. The bartender was very attentive. I tried the Mongo Tea, which is their version of a Long Island. Truthfully it was a little weird to me as I didn't read the ingredients and thought it was a regular Long Island. They put tea in theirs and I'm just not a fan. It was my fault though for not reading the obvious ingredients on the menu. Moved to rum and Coke after that and it was good. As far as the food... I ordered eggrolls as an app and they were good! Yummy. Ended up going with the chicken hibachi and I was just ok. Not really what I was expecting as I usually get chicken hibachi at Sakura and it's soooo different at mongos. They don't use a lot of seasoning, if any, and their white sauce is like water. My friends had the chicken friend rice and wontons and said they were good. The restaurant was nice and clean. Bathrooms were clean. Atmosphere was good. I'll definitely be back. Just not for hibachi.

Daily happy hour everyday. Came with hubby and son. Food was good but drinks are a no. Water taste funny and first sprite was brown, second one had black stuff floating in it. Flavor lemonade are no refills. But rice is delicious.

The bartender Joseph provided great service. I ordered the crunchy roll cooked for $7 and a mango martini from the happy hour all day menu and both were yummy. I've been coming here on and off for a while and the drinks are always strong. It's a good place to stop in and grab a drink or affordable food before or after you shop. The place and welcoming and the service is pretty good. I recommend it.

We randomly stopped in to check out this place as we never been. I do have to say , " the food was Good, the service was fast , and the meals were at an affordable price. This night, we opted for sushi , drinks and appetizers, which was very good . We figured , we would try it out first before we go for dinner. Pleasantly, the food was fresh , hot and had great flavor . Our service was great as well. Next time, I plan to explore the dinner menu. This to me deserves 4 stars as I had no issues with the service, comfortability, food or pricing.

Decided to try this due to the eat drink HTX 2024 special. We were able to get 3 courses for $25! What a steal! The process was very easy and the waiter was attentive to our needs. Definitely a nice restaurant for a date night. We went to the bar to make our bowl, when our table was clean. That is the only reason why I am giving this restaurant 4 stars. Our appetizers were gone as well as our drinks. The waiter was so nice that he refilled our drinks and appetizers. Overall, it was a good experience.

We've previously enjoyed doing the best of both worlds pairing, but since they've added Tom Yum, we now do the pot split 3 ways. The self-serve buffet always has fresh veggies and seafood choices. Our favorites include the spinach, bok choy, shrimp, clams, sweet potato, corn, and pumpkin. I think they've done away with the lobster balls which used to be my favorite, but I've since switched to dumplings which are tasty. I love the items from the hot bar- the orange chicken is yummy. The service here is always attentive and friendly. Hot Pot here always hits.

Service was fast, and what seemed like a seemingly small building was actually bustling. We ordered the Best of Both Worlds option and requested the Spicy Bone Marrow along with the Tomato Broth; they complement each other quite well, with the Spicy Bone Marrow being our personal favorite. It is definitely spicy, but nothing that I couldn't handle. The Tomato Broth was delicious as well, but added a nice sweetness to our meal. We chose the Classic All-You-Can-Eat lunch deal, and ordered a plate of the Natural Prime-Aged Lamb, the Hand Sliced Beef Short Plate, the Marinated Garlic Beef, and the Pork Belly; I can't say I'm a huge fan of how they divided the meat selections, however, since I could get premium meat elsewhere without being limited. But overall, the meat was of decent quality, and the buffet offered various options. Compared to other hot pot places, they even had a section where you could serve yourself egg rolls, white rice/fried rice, and stir-fried noodles, though I can't speak to the quality... very much buffet-quality if you catch my drift, but still lovely nonetheless. Similarly, you can fetch your own iced drinks and dessert too. I do wish Happy Lamb's sauce station had special pre-made flavors or instructions for making them, much like Shabu Zone or Haidilao; sometimes I don't trust myself to freestyle my own sauce. There are some cross-contamination concerns as well, since there'd be about 4 tongs at foot/pants level, but at least 9 food options (e.g., noodles, dumplings, veggies) to choose from. Not sure if other people share the same sentiment, but I guess they all get boiled in the end anyway. Overall, it's a decent option if you're in Downtown Houston! But I wouldn't call Happy Lamb my go-to spot.

We ordered the boiled sliced fish in hot sauce (a staple we always get at Szechuan restaurants) and the sizzling with three delicacies (shrimp and fish). The sauce on seafood meal was sooo good! Since we ordered takeout, they even offered us a place to sit while we waited, which I appreciated. Here's what we ordered: * House Lo Mein - $14.99 * Stir-Fry Flat Noodles w/ Beef - $13.99 * Sweet & Sour Pork - $15.99 * Crab Cheese Puffs - $5.59 Total came out to about $54.74, which is pretty reasonable for the portion sizes and variety. The food overall was flavorful and fresh. The noodles were cooked well and had a nice balance of sauce without being too heavy. The sweet & sour pork had that classic crispy texture with a bold sauce. The crab cheese puffs were decent crispy on the outside and creamy inside but I do wish they had a little more crab flavor to really elevate them. One small detail I loved: the to-go bags. They were sturdy, well-designed, and matched the restaurant's aesthetic definitely gives that extra polished touch. Overall: Great service, solid food, and good value. Perfect for a casual takeout spot when you want something quick but still quality.

Look no further for authenticity, flavor, and complexity in Chinese cooking near the med center!…read more Though we opted for more "simple" dishes during this experience, you can judge a place by if they can do their simple dishes well. The mapo tofu is one of the best we've had outside of Bellaire with spicy, savory, numbing, and warmth that you expect from a good mapo tofu. Crispy popcorn chicken is a classic that's spicy, lightly fried, and crisp. It has an authenticity that other places around can't replicate and makes you keep craving more. The portions are also appropriate for their price. Service is incredibly quick, and you can order as you go and receive your dish within 10-15 minutes, regardless of how busy they are. As for the ambiance, it's loud, it's hectic, and it's simple... maybe a stretch, but makes me feel like I'm eating at a mom and pop shop in the heart of China. On my most recent visit we ordered mapo tofu with pork intestines off the specials menu - a hybrid of two of my favorite Sichuan-style dishes. The blend of bouncy, savory morsels amidst tender, saucy tofu was at once revolutionary and so obvious; why hadn't I yet seen this at any other restaurant? And sure, innards may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's important for you to know that none of my past orders from the 50+ item menu have ever failed me, whether enjoyed in the restaurant or at home. Maybe you'd prefer the aromatic, classic, perfectly balanced three-cup chicken? Or the sweet-skinned duck, glazed so delicately that specks of sugar crystal threaten to jump off onto the plate as you pick up a juicy slice with your chopsticks? And if you're vegetarian, might you consider the punchy garlic eggplant or the wok-kissed string beans? I could go on. Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself, though I'd recommend parallel parking on the neighborhood streets behind the restaurant rather than the rocky parking lot, to save you some trouble. Bring friends and chow down family style - you'll need help covering as much of the menu as you can, but you'll definitely have to come back to try everything.
