Wow wow wow! If you've been looking for some good BBQ, this is where you need to go. We tried a sausage link, turkey breast, lean brisket, beans, macaroni and cheese, and banana pudding. The brisket just melts in your mouth. It's so flavorful and tender. (I'm already craving it just from talking about it) The turkey was perfectly moist and delicious. I'm not a big sausage fan but theirs is really good. No gristle at all! That banana pudding is soooo good. The beans and macaroni are OK. They aren't bad but the BBQ is what really shines here. Their spicy pickles are really great and they sell them by the jar. Service is quick and friendly. Great people here. It's a small building on highway 6 in Manvel that is only open on the weekends. Old Bucs came up and the reviews were pretty fabulous for a bbq joint out in the middle of nowhere, so we decided to give it a try. Super surprised they had a drive thru!!! Bbq that you can get without getting out of your vehicle?! Yes please!! Pork ribs were falling off the bone tender. Pork sausage was only so-so. I have had better grilled sausage in crawfish. Macaroni and cheese was a little too milky and not nearly cheesy enough. Although the clerk gave me double portion for same price, we could not eat it all. Right before Memorial Day they ran out of sausage and were offering chicken breast and turkey as substitutes? We just tried this place out for the first time today and we now realize what all of the hype is about! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the owner. He was so welcoming and walked us through how to order and what he recommended we get to eat. We had the Brisket, Burnt ends, Turkey, and Macaroni and cheese. It came with bread, pickles, cheddar cheese, onions, sauce, and crackers on the side. Every bite we ate was amazing. My husband an di both said this was the best brisket we've had in a long time. And leave that sauce on the side alone - you don't need it. They have a drive through if you just want to get it and go or the have tables inside and on the patio available. I actually know the couple that owns and operates this place.... I understand it is ONLY OPEN IN WEEKENDS!! Once the meat runs out I believe they close the doors for that day. Old Bucs is IMO one of the best BBQ spots in the area if not country. I'm from Los Angeles and whenever I'm in town to visit my family this is the first spot we ever go to. The brisket falls apart in your mouth and is full of flavor. The ribs fall clean off the bone and the sausage deathly delicious. Top 3 bbq of all time!!! we tried 3 out of the 4 meats (sausage, ribs, brisket) and all 3 were amazing. I especially liked the sausage. The potato salad and pickles were EPIC. Probably the best I have ever had. The mac and cheese was just ok. It was a bit watery for me. Definitely wouldn't make that a frequent choice. I do, however plan on getting at least 3 pints of potato salad and a JAR of pickles. Haha! The service was excellent. Really good folks. The brisket burnt ends are delicious, tender, juicy and full of smoky flavor!! The brisket is juicy and tender and best way to describe it like Meat Candy!! I have also tried the pork belly burnt ends and very tasty as well, I have had the sausage and the pork ribs and have never been disappointed. It's a small quiet place that has a few tables out front and some inside. They have a drive thru so if you don't have time to sit down and eat. The guys inside are very friendly and will give you a sample bite if you have never been there before. We hit the jackpot with our new house cuz it's only a short drive to this open-weekends-only bbq joint! We have been multiple times these last few months. If it's after 12, call ahead to see what they have before driving over. We love their moist brisket, ribs, homemade sauce, all the sides esp potato salad, and banana pudding (sooo creamy and sweet and delicious) we don't drink but they have offered a karbach while you wait a few times. They also have sodas in glass bottles for sale and bottled water. Indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of parking, dine-in or take-out available, friendly and quick service! This is a great place for barbecue. I am the kind of person that think that barbecue is only good without the sauce and this is the place. Now don't get me wrong the sauce is really good. My first time there they was very inviting and down to earth. The brisket, chicken, turkey was very moist. My husband had the beef ribs, which was falling off the bone with a lot of meat. This place catered my baby shower and lets just say everyone loved the food. And still to this day everyone is calling me about this food. I have heard people talk of Old Bucs for quite a while now. I was always so busy on Saturdays that I could never get out there to try their BBQ and, at the time, they were only open on Saturdays. Now that they're also open on Sundays, I found myself out early on a Sunday and headed in that direction. I love me some good BBQ and potato salad. Old Bucs stays open until they run out of BBQ. Best advice I can give you is to get there early. Driving down Hwy 6, we almost missed it. The building is smaller than I thought it would be. With all the talk, I thought it'd be this grand ole place. We park in their lot and take a look. There's a very small patio area off to the side. We walk in and it's not far to the ordering counter. They've got chips for sale and coolers for drinks. It's very simple inside. You order at the counter, they weigh your beef and put it on a tray. In that process, it's similar to Rudy's but on a smaller scale. After ordering, we go find a table. There's not much to choose from since there are only about 5-6 tables in the dining area. I think there's even less than that out on the patio. There's a cutlery and sauce station right where you pick up your orders. You also get some paper plates here too. We got pinto beans, potato salad, Mac-n-cheese, brisket and sausage. The brisket was so tender and tasted very good! The sausage was great. I usually don't eat sausage because it's too salty for me but their sausage was perfect. I also liked their BBQ sauce. It's got a good flavor to it. The potato salad was my favorite side. They make some good potato salad here! The Mac-n-cheese here was gooey enough but not runny like how others make their Mac-n-cheese. Pretty good all around. You also get some crackers, pickles, cheese, onion slices and peppers with your order along with some slices of bread. All in all, it was a great meal!! It's definitely worth waking up early for. Seeing as how I love sleeping in on weekends, it says a lot that I would forgo sleeping in to be able to eat this BBQ. read more

My husband and I decided to have lunch here after our visit to the Brazos Bend State Park. The food here is amazing! We had the wet brisket, sausage, potato salad, and pinto beans. They also make their own pickles and that stuff was sooo good (I'm not usually a pickle person)! Let's not forget the free Shiner beer we helped ourselves to, while drooling over the food that was being served! This is a family owned restaurant, and we met BJ and his wife Shelley. These people are so sweet and sincere! They definitely take interest in where people travel from to try their delicious meats! Please excuse the pics as these were taken after we started to annihilate our food The brisket and ribs were so moist and not greasy at all, the sausage was delicious and had a snappy casing, all of the sides were tasty (pinto beans, mac n cheese, and potato salad), and hands down it was one of the best banana puddings (not pictured) we have ever had. We contemplated eating the styrofoam container it came in. My husband who does not even like brisket could not stop eating it.
