    Dry ass meat

Want dry meat? Want no flavor? Want to be disappointed?! Order from here and you'll get dry brisket just like you love, French fry's so old you can see it also it's expensive for no reason I would like my money back but imagine that wouldn't happen

This is terrible it is supposed to be a Ribeye sandwich.. a pricey one at that!!

I got a chance to visit this place while I was attending a festival with some friends. We went here on a Saturday afternoon and the place doesn't look all that spectacular, but it did have a particular American barbeque essence to the vibe of the restaurant. I would give this place a try if you are in the area and are really wanting American BBQ but only if those factors line up. I don't believe it is a place that I would visit again, but it was a solid meal nonetheless. Food: I had a large group of 7 people (including me) So we went with their King's Pack which had 5 pounds of meat and 3 quarts of sides. We went with 2 pounds of brisket, 2 pounds of pork ribs, and 1 pound of sausage for the meats. Whereas for the sides we got dirty rice, cream corn, and mac and cheese. The meats were okay overall. The brisket was a bit on the dryer side and would need a sauce to offset that. While the pork ribs and sausage were both solid, they needed a little something to elevate it to a level of appreciation. The sides were all very solid and I was happier with those. They did have rolls but they were a tad too dry to be complementing the food properly. Price: The price point of this restaurant is cheap! Our group of 7 ate 2 meals each out of that King's Pack, so that makes this a great place to eat barbeque if you are dining on a budget. Service: The service is like that of a regular American bbq restaurant, where you line up and move along a line that has the meats/sides all prepared for you to order. You would have to grab your own drinks and accessories for your own meal. This place is worth the visit if you want American bbq, are in the area and if you are dining on an ok budget.

Meat was very tender and smoked right. No oven cooked meat. Only thing I would suggest if anything would be better desert selection

Good BBQ, they have daily specials, as well as family meal specials at great prices. Family enjoyed the whole chicken meal w/two sides.

It is rare that I award five stars. In this case, I'm awarding six! ;-)…read more SmokeAholics is a La Porte-based food truck that's been in business for about a year. Their specialty is barbecue, and they do it extremely well. I first had the pleasure of sampling their goods at an event (from their food truck); and they recently catered an event that I attended. Outstanding both times! This mom & pop business relies on post oak to smoke their succulent fall-apart brisket, sausage, boudin and beans, and they have the time and temperature down to a science (their slogan is "It's 225 degrees somewhere.") For folks who are versed in the art and science of smoking meats (and beans in this case), 225F is the holy grail of temperatures. That the pit master (Charlie Spencer) can manage it in the rear of a trailer is quite amazing! So many people can bring smoky flavor to a trimmed brisket, but it ends up being dry. Charlie though... Oh my! He somehow manages to produce an outstanding smoky bark with nary an ounce of fat -- yet it melts in your mouth. Barbecue sauce is available, but don't bother. His brisket deserves to shine on its own. So too do the sides. Charlie's wife, Carla Spencer, is in charge of producing most of the delicious accoutrements, which are meals themselves. Her homemade mac & cheese gets there for the cash on its own. But when it's fried and placed atop fries ... Eureka! Her 'Momma's Crackers' are tangy and spicy enough to make one want to slap their pappy! And yes, I want some. -- Perhaps one of the more creative sides is Charlies "Apple Pie Baked Beans," which are available through the catering menu. It's a hybrid of apple pie, breakfast sausage and post oak-smoked beans. Not only is it out-of-the-box, it's damn delicious! These folks offer their wonderful food in La Porte (check the address), but they also cater all over. Just as important, in my humble opinion, Charlie and Carla give back to the community in a huge way. Sure, they are the kind of folks you'd invite to your home because they're just nice. But they do so much more in mentoring local youngsters and volunteering their time (and services) to make the day a little brighter -- and tastier -- for cancer survivors. It's really cool when I am able to recommend a business that is superb at what it does and just as outstanding when it comes to giving back. SmokeAholics is one of those businesses.
