I have only been there once. But unfortunately I will not be back. They are one of the few restaurants that still allow smoking inside their building. I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke. Not realizing that it was allowed we ordered our meals. But before it came a large table of smokers arrived and started lighting up right away. The service was great. Just ran in for a bbq sampler to go. I asked for moist brisket, got home about 5 minutes later. Dug in, you get 2 sides, I chose onion rings and coleslaw, the coleslaw was good but the onion rings were SALTY as hell, I like my rings with salt but not smothered in it. Not impressed. Firstly most of the tables were filthy. This is completely unacceptable as you will see in the pictures, the table I found had some dirty plates from I'm guessing the previous customer. The walls were splattered with what looked like coke maybe? Idk but even under the glass covered tables it was just filthy. Not off to a good start. I got the sampler plate. Pork ribs were great, sausage was ok, brisket was tender but flavorless. Could of at least brought some bread with the order. Ambiance was ok but could use some music, both waitresses and the tv on gave it an eerie atmosphere and was not fun. I definitely won't be back but if I am I'll come at a later time. read more

This was our first time going to this place, and the food and the service was really good. The ambiance was what you would expect in a small town establishment. My only reason for giving it a 4 star is because a guest was allowed to smoke cigarettes and I'm highly allergic to cigarette smoke. I love this Mom & Pop Business! Backdraft is a nice restaurant in a small town next to me name Highlands!! Great food here! They support Law Enforcement, Firefighters or anything doing with our hero's and Military!! I love it!! I generally eat Barbeque here but I have gotten breakfast! Everything I've gotten was very enjoyable!.. Employees are very professional and on it!! Very clean establishment!. So yes I highly recommend this Business!! Came here during lent on a Friday, had the fish shrimp lunch plate special with fries and cole slaw. I'm not much of a fried fish shrimp person but this was an excellent size plate that tasted delicious. Not overly salted or seasoned and plenty of fish shrimp and French fries. I have eaten here probably 8 times and cannot tell you much positive about it. The place has a firefighting motif with walls covered with first responders and such - nothing wrong with that! The problem is the quality of the food. The only reason I go there is to meet up with my dirt track racing buddies whom (for reasons beyond me) like the place. The Q is not the best in my book and I had some potatoe salad that was spoiled and I sent it back. I told them they need to throw it out before someone gets sick! On a good note they have very good onion rings! The service is hit or miss as I have had some really bad service there. I once ordered county style pork ribs to go and when I got home I could swear they were Beef ribs. Just not my favorite - give it a try who knows? My husband and I tried this restaurant for the 1st time last night, and WOW, I'm so glad we did! My husband had the full rack of the St. Louis Ribs, and they were very tender and tasty. The idea behind the name of this place is cool, but I wasn't that impressed. I got the steak finger basket and the steak fingers were chewy and the fries were very ordinary. I was impressed with the customer service we received. We were at the truckstop, couldnt drive there since we were hooked to idleair for a/c. The owner was so nice to deliver to us, super fast, and the wonderful lady that took the order on the phone was so accommodating. When we ate, ribs, chicken fried chicken, baked beans, homemade mashed potatoes, and apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream, and really good bbq sauce, all i can say is....GREAT! Been to this place a few times. Wish the tv was off. Last time I went 2 ladys was arguing over what to watch Jeopardy or something else. Only a couple of people were in the resturant but having the tv off with had been more relaxing. The seafood soup was good. The fried pickles and fried green tomatoes was great.
