    Rib dinner,WET

This was recommended to me by my buddy I enjoyed the food the ribs were nicely chard and well smoked. The side selection was not very good. I went simple with the Mac and Potatoe salad only because nothing else look pleasant. The Sauce was nice a little light for my taste but complimented the ribs perfectly. Made all the difference in the texture and flavor of the Ribs as if they were meant to be together. Thank you for the meal and the experience I will be a returning guest.

    Chicken and ribs.

Yikes. I'm on a mission to try every restaurant in Baytown and I've never been to Goings Barbeque. I came in solo when there was only one other couple in the restaurant. I waited for a few minutes and thought about leaving when I saw how old the side dishes looked on the "buffet" but then a nice man walked up and asked what I wanted. I decided on the two meat plate with chicken and ribs and my two sides of corn bake and green beans. The barbecue chicken was so incredibly dry that I couldn't eat more than two bites. It would have been somewhat edible if there was some sort of sauce or if it had been cooked fresh. This hadn't. The ribs were unseasoned, overcooked and tough to chew. I was so underwhelmed with all of my food, except for the green beans, that I left my plate on the table and walked out. The "corn bake" is not baked. It is canned corn with some sort of sour cream mixture that is entirely too watery and unappealing. The green beans were good because they were warm but they were straight out of a can. I wouldn't call this "horrible" barbeque because it was so overcooked and had been sitting under heat lamps for so long that I didn't want to really try it. I'm sure it tastes fine regularly. Unfortunately, I won't be back to try it.

Seriously, what is this? That's not brisket. NO smoke ring and it's impossibly dry and flaky.

Let me start out by saying I'm a BBQ B*tch. My dad was a grill master, and I was spoiled with amazing BBQ growing up. Secondly, this Texas. We supposedly know good BBQ. This isn't it. This isn't even edible. I ordered: brisket, sausage, baked beans, and mustard potato salad. Husband ordered: brisket, sausage, ham, "corn bake", and baked beans. First, the Golden Standard for all Texas BBQ: Brisket. This stuff is so dry, I refuse to take a second bite. The bark looks okayish, there's absolutely no smoke ring, and it's so dry it's literally flaking like fish. It's disgusting and inedible. Brisket should be moist and juicy. This isn't. Sausage: Meh. Hard to screw up sausage. Ham: Husband said its ok. "It's not as dry as the brisket, so at least there's that." Mustard potato salad: This, I like. He didn't. But that doesn't mean it doesn't taste exactly like store-bought potato salad. Baked beans: They've definitely got Tobasco in them, and either green chiles or jalapeños. Not spicy though. But they don't have much flavor. Corn bake: This stuff looked like pig slop, and I'm surprised he even took a bite. He said its awful, and even a ton of salt doesn't help. It honestly looks like cream gravy with chunks of corn in it. BBQ sauce: It's not like any BBQ sauce I've ever had. It's not Carolina (tangy with vinegar), Memphis (sweet), or Texas (smoky). It's not anything. It tastes like BBQ sauce but barely. It's also watery. The verdict: If you consider yourself someone who truly appreciates good BBQ, stay far away. This is disgusting. I wish I could give it 1/2 star, which is solely for the store bought potato salad. Also? Without even asking, they smothered my husband's plate with BBQ sauce. I asked for mine on the side. I guess if you've grown up in Baytown and this is the only BBQ you've ever known, you'd like it. But if you've ever had good BBQ, don't waste your time or money. I wish I'd taken one look at their order line and walked right back out. I'm posting photos. As a note, we ran into friends as we were walking out. They'd ordered burgers which looked decent.

Sad. Order was wrong. On every single item, portions were way to small. For the amount of money spent, what a ripoff! Never again!

The food was mediocre at best. The brisket was sliced real thin and over cooked. The ribs were mushy. I will not be returning.

We found this place when we moved to Baytown 6 months ago and let me tell you we are NOT DISAPPOINTED! We love coming here , pick something different every-time and we always love it! Don't be surprised how we were when we saw that the bbq cooks are Mexicanos wohoooo we do make good food!! The service is also great! Very friendly and welcoming!! Keep it up because your doing great!! This time we ordered the lodes potatoes and they are huge and tasty!! We ask for the bbq sauce on the side . We also order the specials and today it was the order of 2 meats and 2 sides. Pretty large orders for a good price!! We always end up having leftovers!! The place is very nice and very comfortable ambiance! Give them a try!!! You won't regret it!!

We ordered ala carte order of fish, and 1lb of ribs. The breading on the fish was well seasoned, but we were a little disappointed in the size of the Fillets, considering they said it's about $4 each. The ribs were nice and tender, but the flavor wasn't the best. The restaurant had an older ambience to it, which aligned with the OG BBQ theme. The staff started off somewhat cold, but they were friendly and helped guide us through the menu as we were somewhat confused to start.

It is rare that I award five stars. In this case, I'm awarding six! ;-)…read more SmokeAholics is a La Porte-based food truck that's been in business for about a year. Their specialty is barbecue, and they do it extremely well. I first had the pleasure of sampling their goods at an event (from their food truck); and they recently catered an event that I attended. Outstanding both times! This mom & pop business relies on post oak to smoke their succulent fall-apart brisket, sausage, boudin and beans, and they have the time and temperature down to a science (their slogan is "It's 225 degrees somewhere.") For folks who are versed in the art and science of smoking meats (and beans in this case), 225F is the holy grail of temperatures. That the pit master (Charlie Spencer) can manage it in the rear of a trailer is quite amazing! So many people can bring smoky flavor to a trimmed brisket, but it ends up being dry. Charlie though... Oh my! He somehow manages to produce an outstanding smoky bark with nary an ounce of fat -- yet it melts in your mouth. Barbecue sauce is available, but don't bother. His brisket deserves to shine on its own. So too do the sides. Charlie's wife, Carla Spencer, is in charge of producing most of the delicious accoutrements, which are meals themselves. Her homemade mac & cheese gets there for the cash on its own. But when it's fried and placed atop fries ... Eureka! Her 'Momma's Crackers' are tangy and spicy enough to make one want to slap their pappy! And yes, I want some. -- Perhaps one of the more creative sides is Charlies "Apple Pie Baked Beans," which are available through the catering menu. It's a hybrid of apple pie, breakfast sausage and post oak-smoked beans. Not only is it out-of-the-box, it's damn delicious! These folks offer their wonderful food in La Porte (check the address), but they also cater all over. Just as important, in my humble opinion, Charlie and Carla give back to the community in a huge way. Sure, they are the kind of folks you'd invite to your home because they're just nice. But they do so much more in mentoring local youngsters and volunteering their time (and services) to make the day a little brighter -- and tastier -- for cancer survivors. It's really cool when I am able to recommend a business that is superb at what it does and just as outstanding when it comes to giving back. SmokeAholics is one of those businesses.
