I enjoyed the waffle breakfast with the "very berry" style waffles. The berries were so fresh and they were more than happy to warm up my syrup (just say "hot syrup please"). What I love most was the sausage patties. Well seasoned and sized. The hashbrowns were just a tad bit on the cold side, but I just ate them and didn't make a fuss. African American lady next to me claimed she waited 20+ minutes to be seen by the waiter. Finally waiter came and randomly asked "are you being attended to", basically telling us nobody has been assigned to your table. To sum up the rest of the experience, Ticket time was below average (slow), took approximately 30 mins, ordered waters with lemon on the side, lemons came in the waters. Smh. When i asked for a manager at the podium/wait area to avoid not make a scene at the table to help with our seating arrangements, manager came to table and basically implied that i am complaining (in front of the whole table and other guests/ embarrassing) and "sorta-kinda" said we cant sit together because wheelchair reasons eventhough another party of 10 was well accommodated before our visit and after our visit. This whole thing caused a huge scene in which could of been avoided if they sat us down appropriately to our request of a party of 10 and provided us a high chair upon our first request; or better yet simply acknowledge you can't accommodate us before dissapointing us after the fact. Poor systems, management, customer service, and situational awareness. Straight off the Road has always had good vibes, and nothing there has changed. Country music when you come in the door, good service, and authentic feeling decorations. It just feels like home in here-- Texas without all the pretentiousness of fancier places. I was surprised to see the parking lot and the restaurant only half full on Mother's Day, but looking back, I should have known then that something wasn't quite right. Everything went well until I got my plate. I ordered the two meat brisket and sausage, potato salad, and fried okra. The portion was huge-- enough for three people -- but I couldn't enjoy it. The brisket should have been the star, but it tasted like was baked too long in an oven an oven a day or two ago. There was no smoke flavor, and the meat just fell apart. I could have eaten it with a spoon. It was tender, sure, but anybody can do that if you cook it/rest it long enough. The flavor just wasn't there. I'm not sure whether they make their sausage or get it from somewhere outside, but it seemed to be quality stuff before they cooked it. It was coarse ground like I like it with good seasoning. But where was the smoke? The sausage honestly looked and tasted like it was sliced and boiled. I was shocked. The potato salad tasted good, but the texture was all wrong. Everything was chopped up small like it was done in the food processor and there was no love in it. Fried okra is hard to get wrong, but there was nothing particularly right about it either. I was so suspicious about the lack of flavor in my meat that I drove around the back parking lot when we left. There were several racks of neatly stacked firewood, but it was all filled up to the top. Either it had just been delivered, or it's not getting used. I suspect the latter. This is Texas. If you're gonna keep the doors open at a barbecue joint, you have to do better. I love coming to your restaurant, and I hope you get things figured out.

The food was 6 stars if i coukd add one more i would ..i travel the u.s and try bbq restaurants and this one makes my top 5 list comming in at #2 ive been to every state in the u.s and was lucky to find this little gem called La.cruda brand in a small town of crosby tx. They basically have sandwiches, potatoes, sides and some cupcakes in a display case. I arrived at 1pm, a little late, but they were sold out of brisket. They only had ribs, sausage and chicken. I ordered the 2 meat potato with ribs and sausage, and added a bottled soda. There is no soda fountain and I didn't see any tea. I waited about 5 minutes for the potato to come out and it's a massive display. They had added a smoked chicken leg on top as well, so technically 3 meats. I peeled the meat off the ribs which was easy and added it to the sausage slices. I ate the chicken as you normally would eat a chicken leg. It took me a while to even get to the potato since there was a large amount of meat to get through first. Then I had to get through nearly 1/2 lb of melted cheese which was delicious before I could finally taste the potato. It was delicious as well and quite a bit of food. For around $16, I felt it was well worth the price. Ambiance is not exactly 5 stars, as they really don't seem to do much dine in service, but there are plenty of clean tables if you choose to eat there like I did. I enjoyed the sausage quite a bit and it seemed homemade. The ribs were very good as well and tender. I wasn't a big fan of the chicken, but then again, I don't normally order chicken at BBQ restaurants.
