I love the concept of Texas-sized burgers and the large variety of substitutions available. I can say the owner is a real burger king when it comes to creativity and the burgers are definitely picture worthy. Prices were reasonable based on the portion sizes and the menu is full of savory items but unfortunately the burgers lacked flavor and was a big disappointment. Upon my second visit, the service I received was subpar. Staff were lounging around, inattentive and had no sense of urgency. Everything including my drink tasted completed different than the first visit. The waiter wasn't very knowledgeable of the menu and my cocktail and entrée were sent back because they were wrong. I'm not a fan of their location - sharing the same building with a gas station. It's an ick for me and seems a bit uncleanly, even the parking lot is a bit shady. In my opinion, this business would thrive if they had their own brick and mortar opposed to a gas station. It's a no for me at this time but I want so badly to like this place. Don't let the location next to the gas station fool you!!!! The food is fantastic! Tastes homemade and absolutely fresh. We prefer chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, and pork chops with sides of corn, mashed potatoes, green beans, and okra. The corn was so crisp and fresh, not mushy. This is actually a pretty nice place inside and you certainly wouldnt expect it from the outside, considering the area. I was working in the area and saw them on yelp and figured I'd give them a shot. I sat at the bar since I was dining alone and most other people seemed to be in groups and sat at tables. They have a decent size menu with the usual American items, like apps, salads, burgers and entrees. This place seems to specialize in burgers, namely extreme burgers, so I decided to order one. I kept mine fairly simple. But others ordered very tall burgers with lots of toppings. You can get as many patties as you like and being this is a truck stop. I can imagine some people are going to come in hungry and order several patties at once. They have a 2nd customizable burger menu, a paper menu you have to ask for, since they only give you their main menu upon being seated. There are several burgers on the main menu already, but with no indication on how large they are. Nobody seemed to know either, so they handed me the burger only menu. Be aware its a la carte and when you start adding toppings, it's gets pricy quickly. If I ever make it back here, I'd love to try the chopped ribeye burger....sounds delish! I ordered their largest single patty burger, a 12oz burger on brioche, with cheddar and bacon jam. I also added garlic fries. This is kind of where they started going downhill. When the burger came out, there were several problems with it, also with the fries. The fries were seasoned like cajun seasoning, so I knew right away they weren't garlic. They gave me the wrong cheese, gave me American instead of cheddar also gave me a standard bun instead of brioche. I can understand 1 mistake, but thats like 3 on a simple hamburger. The good news is that the patty was tasty and well seasoned. It almost tasted like a charcoal burger. It was cooked perfectly as well which is not easy on a 12oz patty. They obviously need to make some improvements on their process. Since there is no point in having a customized burger menu if you can't even bring out the one the customer orders. Also, they had quite a bit of staff working the prep area, bar area, and kitchen the day I visited. This definitely caused some confusion between staff. The girls at the counter were very friendly and let me try their tornado fries. Which are basically twisted fries made with a machine. They did correct my fries since I cause that right away. It took a few mins to catch the wrong cheese and bun. And I didn't have them correct those....I just kept eating, even though they offered. read more

I ordered a la carte to create a breakfast plate and my partner ordered the fried pork chop with eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. All of it was fresh and delicious. Free coffee with a purchase of a breakfast plate! Come on, you cannot beat that (That saves you $5 for two coffees)! I believe the menu changes at times. My mom used to order the grilled cheese and tomato soup. It is no longer on the menu; however, we were told if they have the ingredients on hand they don't mind making that for her! The staff are really friendly and the restaurant is clean and cared for, which is something you don't really find that often on the road. I have to admit, being a bit chunky all of my life, that is was snug at the table. The special today was Big Fish, which is two nice pieces of fish and Cole slaw. I had mine blackened Cajun style and added a side of red beans and rice. All was delicious. Service was fast and friendly and she checked on me from time to time. It's clean and nice there with a Texas Independence vibe, another subject dear to me. They have a covered patio and advertise live music. We've only been to this place twice. But both times the food has been excellent. Hot, fresh, and appetizing. Wait staff is efficient and always checking back to make sure you're "ok". While the food is fantastic, the drinks are a little weak. I'd rather taste a little more alcohol and less sugar. Otherwise, I feel I'm getting ripped off and won't buy another. I personally do not recommend but I can see the appeal though. Huge portions and comfort food with modest prices. It's located in a gas station/truck stop so I think that sort of crowd fits what their doing but the food taste and quality IMO was missing. We tried the chips and queso, chili, tornado fries and loaded baked potato. The queso was fine, just bland. I enjoyed the tortilla chips but overall just ok. Chili was very greasy with hunks of ground beef. I was told, "my cook makes the best chili hands down", sale tactic I know but he in fact does not. Gave me a stomach ache because it was so greasy. Tornado fries might have been the best thing we ate but those were chunks of twisted potatoes lightly fried with the bland queso and their chili. Like I mentioned best item we ate but still meh. And the loaded baked potato comes with your choice of meat, ground beef was chosen and again it was ok. This place does have a specific crowd that will enjoy it, we're just not in that crowd. read more

I made a mess on the table because there was so much food and the burger was that sloppy yummy goodness. We arrived in Houston to evacuate from Hurricane Ida and came across this gem of a restaurant. Driving up, you will notice that it is attached to a gas station; however, fear not, the staff and food are fantastic! Upon entering the restaurant, we noticed it was clean and inviting. She was super friendly, professional, and attentive to details. We ordered the bacon-wrapped cheese sticks from the "secret menu," a Texas Forever Burger, a Brunch Burger, and a Western Omelette. Everything was delicious! Our waitress never once made us feel rushed and brought everything promptly. She checked periodically to see if we were happy with our food or needed anything else. At one point, the owner came over to our table to ask us how we were doing and whether we were enjoying our meal. The buns are not that good either, whatever type of bun they use they need to change that also it taste kind of cheap. For what you pay here for a burger they should up their game.
