Nice little BBQ place close to home. Surprisingly good prices for BBQ. The chopped beef was what I went to get by the lb but I added in half a chicken, mac n cheese, and Banana pudding. The sauce on the chopped beef was great and not overly sweet. Loved the pudding and it was nicely presented. The chicken was ok but nothing amazing. First of all, I need to start by saying this place has been in business for a long time for a reason. They have great daily specials that are home-cooked at a great price. I'm kind of old-school and always get the same thing every time I go in, which is the brisket And different sides, but I tried the St. Louis style pork ribs for the first time the other night and they were off the chain good. My kids' brisket was pretty dry and over cooked. The chopped brisket on my baked potato was meh. The place looks like a throwback to the early 80's and not in a good way. The service was fine, that's why I'm giving them 2 stars. For the quality of food the price was too high, and the price wasn't that high. Brisket is so tender. Every day they have different specials On Friday my favorite is the fried catfish with 2 sides and the best cornbread. Also they have pork tenderloin with 2 sides if you don't want catfish. Plus you need to check out menu. The turkey is a big hit with my Grandson. We have never been disappointed eating here. After visiting the Lone Star Flight Museum with out-of-state holiday guests, we decided to indulge their request for "real Texas barbecue" by taking a chance on Randy's. Another (chain) BBQ place was also close by, but we like to support local small businesses when possible, so we took a chance on Randy's. Let's just say we were not able to proudly boast of the superiority of the Lone Star State after making that decision. Brisket: dry, salty and break-apart "crumbly"--way too long warming after smoking, I'd guess. Very disappointing pork ribs--no real flavor. Good sausage. Decent home-made sauce though the supposed "spicy" sauce really wasn't. Excellent slaw and potato salad (the latter with a choice of mustard- and mayonnaise-based varieties...get the mustard) were clearly the high point of the meal. Completely tasteless greens--no pig meat, no salt, nothing--REALLY needed a shot of pepper vinegar. Cornbread so sweet I thought it was cake (not my style, but others might really love it). The brisket was so dry I had to douse it in BBQ sauce to get it down. The top was burnt so badly, and was like eating wood chips: it took off a crown on my lower molar. (to be fair, it was a temporary crown..) BUT: Never fear, the can of soda was wonderfully cold and fresh. The kicker was there were gnats in the drink machine area and then also the salad bar and baked potato condiment area! Not a lot, but just enough to be annoying We were really surprised never seen anything like this B4! here. We asked if the manager was around and we were told not at that time. We come here all the time for the bbq. It's quiet and spacious and rarely busy. It's easy to order and eat quickly which is super important with kids. The food is very good and we really like the sweet smokey sauce though the regular sauce is very good as well. Tonight I brought my sons to try their burgers. I was very pleased. Randy's Smokehouse and BBQ screwed us over!!!! I have used these folks for about 4 years to smoke my turkey. I called to ask when I needed to have my turkey there for it to be smoked for Thanksgiving. Was told it was too late to bring the turkey in but I could purchase a turkey from them, said they offered a 12 & 14 pound turkey. I ordered the 12 pound turkey and was told it would be $60. I gave them my debit card over the phone. I check my bank account a few days later to find they charged me $97.43!!! I was furious!!!! Their explanation was that I was given the wrong information!! I went up there & cancelled my order and they issued me a refund. So today I check my bank account and do not see my credit from them. I call the bank and they tell me that Randy's Smokehouse and BBQ cancelled the refund!!!! What kind of business does this!!!!! I will continue blast them until I get my refund, they actually stole my money!!!!!! read more

Randy's is under new management (a Mr Jihan Jaouhari) and the place has gotten a bit better this year. Ribs used to occasionally be a bit dry; seems to have fixed that. Plus they've fixed the broken drink machine, they're keeping the relish bar stocked. On the other hand, they took down my favorite cartoon - that always hung by the register - of Garfield barbecuing an owl. I usually get the ribs. There's a lot of stiff competition here about, but they do a decent entry. Pretty tender, rich flavor. I eat here every few months with a group of guys; I'm not partial to sausage, but my friends are and they always are pleased. A couple decor things make Randy's stand out . They have more than adequate taxidermy for a Texas BBQ joint, including really big rattlesnake skins. But more than that, they have good chainsaw art. If you don't know chainsaw art, this is the craft of whittling a statue out of a log, using chainsaws. The chainsaw Indian chief is my favorite. Apparently they think they have the market cornered on BBQ in Clear Lake, but guess what? Rudy's is the BOMB. We ordered a family pack tonight and asked for loose. I was informed they call it moist. I told him that was find , we want the cut that has the fat in it. He told me that was moist. When I get the food home, there is no Barbque sauce! The meat was lean and dry!!!! They have smoked chicken, sliced brisket, chopped brisket, sausage, jalapeño sausage, pulled pork, pork ribs, sliced pork, sliced turkey. I haven't tried the last two but all the others are deee-licious! They have a variety of bbq sauces to pick from. To compliment your choice of bbq, they have a small bar where you can serve yourself fresh sliced pickles, sliced onions, pickled onions, jalapeños, etc. The place is always clean no matter what time of day I'm stopping by and the food is always hot and tasty. Will always come back for more smoked meats and homemade sides (and desserts too ;) ). With prices going up in 2021-2022 I am willing to pay the increase they've had to implement because they are sooooo worth it. Nothing wrong with big chains but personally I prefer locally owned businesses where you might run into the owner.
