We recently had a new HVAC system installed in our home to replace our thirty year old system that…read morehad finally failed. JMS heating and air conditioning built out for us an entirely new system relocating it from a closet to the attic. JMS installed all new duct work, Supply and return plenums and grills in all bedrooms and living area. The JMS crew covered all floors and furniture to protect from damage and dust. They were very courteous and professional at all times. They patched and painted all areas as needed and even restored the closet the old HVAC unit was removed from so it could be used. The JMS crew left our house immaculate when finished and our new A/C system works great! Nice and cool on 100 degree days. I would definitely recommend JMS for all your HVAC needs.

Worst customer experience ever. AC went out, with our luck in summer. JMS quoted they could get…read morethings fixed but just needed 2 weeks for the parts to arrive. Ok, not ideal, but fine. Did they fulfill that? Absolutely not. In fact, they never bothered to follow up. We had to constantly be the ones to follow up, and on top of that, it ended up being 6 WEEKS DELAYED. Which during the time they NEVER could be bothered to communicate with us. Finally, we asked what the exact parts were that we needed, so that we could just order it ourselves perhaps, or go with a different vendor. And suddenly, what, the parts were shipping? Excuse me? I see how it is. And they said it would arrive by Thursday. Spoiler alert, nope, it did not. We had to wait the weekend. Ok, finally the parts arrive. Did they communicate that? Meh. Did they set an appointment time to actually do the repair? Of course not. They just appeared on Monday morning. Which also means magically needing to drop whatever you have going on at work. I hope it's not important. I hope if this happens to you, you don't make money on an hourly rate. Oh, it gets better. When the repair people completed their work, they said the technician who refills the freon was a separate person who wasn't scheduled. We could wait for another day. EXCUSE ME? Getting service with JMS felt like pulling teeth at literally every step of the process. Getting any response felt like pulling your own child's hair out. How is this even possible? How are you this nonchalant about other people's suffering? Would you enjoy it if you had to live like this? If you had this kind of service? Do you really not care at all about your customers? And of course since it's summer, we're talking about having to move out for...we'll, they never fulfilled their word on how long this would take, so 6 weeks of ad hoc housing. Anyone else want to live out a tiny expensive hotel for that long? Thousands of dollars down the drain. 0/10. Negative stars. Worst service possible, they literally just don't care about you. Cannot recommend to my enemies.

However within minutes of reaching out to Elvira Ocean Air, I was able to speak directly with a representative. Sam was professional, courteous, promptly responded to calls and texts, and an expert in his craft. Throughout the process he answered questions and was exceptionally considerate, providing cost-saving alternatives that would have likely added up to a small fortune from someone else. In less than 24 hours my heater was up and running, just in time to ward off the chill of a storm! Compassion, being willing to share knowledge, and generosity such as this are exceptionally rare qualities in the trades industry, but Sam has them in spades! I called Cold Cloud Mechanical today based on their excellent Yelp rating for two issues: a…read moresuspected freon leak in my living room mini split, and water leaking from my son's bedroom unit after about 20 minutes of use. Technician Arsen handled the bedroom unit well. He found the drain hose was clogged and mounted too low, cleaned it out, adjusted the mounting height, and confirmed it drained properly over a 2-hour test. The living room unit is where I'm disappointed. A technician from my home warranty company had already confirmed the unit, less than a year old, was completely empty of freon. Arsen couldn't initially find the leak and charged me to vacuum and recharge the system, with no warranty since the source was unconfirmed. During that process, he found the actual leak in a copper line under the house. Once identified, he refused to go into the crawl space to fix it and said no one else at the company could either. That doesn't add up: just months ago, five workers from another company spent a full week under the house for a seismic retrofit, moving freely through the entire crawl space without issue, including the area where this leak is now located. I offered to pay extra for him or anyone else to complete the repair and was still turned down. Instead, he recommended replacing the entire unit for $5,000, which doesn't make sense for a nearly-new system with one identified leak point. I'm now out the cost of a recharge that didn't fix anything and came with no warranty, and I still have to find another company willing to go under the house and finish the repair Arsen already diagnosed. I appreciate the diagnostic work, but a company that installs mini splits should have someone who can access a crawl space to tighten a fitting. Choosing an upsell over a specific, identified fix is why I can't rate this higher. Update: The owner, Alex B., responded to this review quickly and personally came out to fix the leak. He accessed the crawl space without any issue, repaired the fitting in a few minutes, vacuumed and recharged the system, and tested it to confirm stable freon levels and cold air output. It's a straightforward fix, which makes it more frustrating it wasn't handled this way from the start, but I appreciate the owner stepping in directly to make it right. Updating to 5 stars for the responsiveness and quality of the resolution.
