Terrible first time experience. Booked on Expedia due to good reviews. Didn't see any mention of an $85 charge for the use of a Toll Pass. Yes, you pay the tolls while renting a car at DIA but to charge a fee for the use of the Toll Pass?! All the major rental agencies incorporate the pass into each car. I'll definitely be going back to the Big Three. Really wanted to give a smaller company a chance. read more

This was my second worst rental experience ever. The sales agent took forever in line with people ahead of me, and then did not have the rental car I had reserved. He said they had a smaller one that wouldn't take my luggage, and then up sold me on a bigger more expensive car. Disaster. read more

So disappointing! We reserved a 12 passenger van for a combined family trip over a month in advance. When we showed up exhausted with 5 children in tow they said they didn't have the car type available! When we were upset about it the "asst supervisor" got snarky with us. They gave us 2 minivans which is not what we wanted at all and acted like they were doing us a favor. The only reason we reserved with them was because they had a big van. I cannot believe that in this day they don't have an inventory system that would alert them ahead of time. It was only after we were there for sometime and "going to the back" did the rep come out and say oops, it isn't here. I recommend going elsewhere. read more

This was my first experience with Sixt at DIA and I will definitely use them again! The vehicle was well maintained and I was on my way in a flash. The return was equally as efficient! A great deal for the money and the employees are top notch! It took 2 hours from terminal to leaving the parking lot. Long wait for the shuttle, long shuttle ride to the lot, long wait at the office, and nearly impossible to find the exit. Despite being built on a flat chunk of land away from everything, the building and lot bear all the design compromises of an older established lot; the entrance is hard to find, the signage is spotty, and good luck finding an exit row that isn't barricaded. If you aren't familiar with the one hidden rental car exit you'll end up in the paid lot with literally no way to leave. We had to walk back to the office to get a punch card so we could leave the lot. If you like loud, dingy places that are hard to find and even harder to navigate, this will be perfect. read more

We were stuck at the Denver airport over night due to flight delays. We got on the Sixt car rental bus because it was the first one we saw. Not only was it super far away, but they tried to charge us $150 to have an SUV for 24 hours. Oh, and their facilities are in a trailer and their employee was super rude. We had 3 tired kids in tow and they made our bad day even worse. read more

This is without any doubt the worst car rental agency I have ever used. The entire process was a nightmare. The staff were rude and customer service was terrible. I rented a van at Denver airport for a week in Vail. By the time I reached Vail pass the rubber on the windshield wipers was falling off. At this time it's snowing non stop. I called SixT and they said all they could do was send out another van and that would take 24 hours. I asked them confirm that I would not be charged for this inconvenience and they said they would not guarantee that I would not be charged. The rental center is separate from the airport, you have to take a twenty minute bus ride out to some field....freekin mess. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY or you will regret it. If you have an issue with your car or van , it will take an hour to get them on the phone. Simply the worst. read more

I have to laugh when I see a post stating that all 1-star reviews are false. I can assure you that is not the case. This Sixt location is HORRIBLE. 1- They asked me to leave my suitcase on the bus and the friendly bus driver would take it off and put it in a baggage holding area "outside" because the reception area did not have enough room. Not a good sign, I should have left at this point. The bus driver never took my bag off the bus and when I went to retrieve it, it was not there. 2-There were 7 people in front of me, resulting in a 50 minute wait. The entire time we waited, we could hear a group of people in the back room laughing. Why were the not using empty customer service stations to speed checkin? Nobody knows...50 minute waits are unacceptable. And i hear this was a "good" day. 3- I was offered an upgrade to an SUV. Told by my friendly customer service agent that "everybody gets an SUV in Denver". I was also advised that rough weather was moving in and that my Chevy Cruz would be dangerous. I declined. I knew it was a lie because I checked the weather report before I left. She offered me an SUV, for $58 EXTRA a day. I declined 3 times. She finally offered me an SUV for free (because that is all i saw on the lot. They tried to shakedown thier customer for more money, because they were out of sedans. Shameful! 4- Be prepared to have them hold $200 on your credit card. Never again will I use Sixt. Waiting at the counter drives me crazy. Back to National I go.... read more

Not horrible but certainly not great. I prefer to pick my own car off the rental lot. However, returning the vehicle then having to wait a couple of days to get a receipt is/was my biggest issue. Sixt is just not setup for the business traveler in my opinion. National Car Rental still is the best IMO. read more

We started our trip with a 4 hour flight delay then had to wait over 30 minutes for a SIXT shuttle (they all filled up and we finally got on the third one) when arriving to SIXT we were very frustrated over the long day and come to find out they no longer had the car we requested because all were taken however Alyssia the sales person quickly helped the situation and provided great costumer service she ended up upgrading us to a Mercedes Benz Gwagon for a discounted price due to our car not being available. Overall, we always use SIXT when renting a car and they never disappoint. read more

I wish I would've read reviews before booking a car through Expedia which involved this company. Honestly the worst and less helpful car rental company. If you can rent a car else where, be smart and do so. Two days before my flight, I lost my debit card. I same card I used to book everything. Due to short notice with my trip there was no time to replace a new card but I kept my old card still active with Google pay. I arrived at Sixt explaining my situation with ID proof and a car already paid for through Expedia. They turned me away and refused to refund me the money I spent. We had for over 25 min at the terminal for the shuttle to arrive, then when we finally got to the Sixt center, we then had to wait for well over an hour to speak to anyone. The staff was unhelpful, and unimaginably slow. The center was very busy and they took well over 20+ minutes with each customer. Several staff were just wandering around not helping the lines. When we were finally able to speak with someone, we were told they didn't have the car we specifically requested to rent, then said they have one but that we didn't want it, then that it was dirty and we would have to wait an hour for it to be cleaned if we actually did want it. Finally we were pushed us into a very base model GMC SUV that was extremely uncomfortable, to the point we had to buy pillows to sit on for the road trip. I rent cars frequently all over the US and I'm in my late 20s... I shouldn't have to do that, nor have I ever had to in the past. There appeared to be 50+ of this exact same vehicle on the lot which would explain why they were so eager for us to get it. If it wouldn't have delayed our travel plans I would have taken the car back and demanded a refund. The center is also impossibly far away from the terminal and you are stuck with whatever line they have when the bus finally gets to you. There is no way I would ever rent through this company again. read more

I hate to give a low rating based on one employee, but I would be mortified to have Fatima working for me. Never smiled, never said thank you never apologized for my wait whispered as she talked and was super unpleasant and not friendly. I booked through Priceline and prepaid for everything. She told me because I didn't bring my corporate card with me she had to refund the Corp card and charge me again on my personal card, she then tried to force insurance on me telling me that I would pay for everything wrong with the car if I didn't take what they offered. I refused and she pulled the card away and rolled her eyes. Then gave me the wrong key to the car outside so I had to return and get the right key before I could leave, I asked the gate attendant about 2 scratches on the back of the car and he told me to go back in... I took pics and left. Can't wait to see now that turns out, the 2 stars are for the manager that worked there that saw I was aggravated and offered to upgrade my car so I didn't leave angry. The bottom line: The email response I received was worthless and unrelated to helping me with the problem I presented. My credit card dispute was declined because the information they submitted was not exactly truthful. Sixt charged me an additional $224 for bringing the car back approximately 2 hours late. Yes, it's in the agreement I signed. But that does not change the fact that your customer service is the absolute worst I have ever experienced. So you got paid and now the public knows that you charged $224 for approximately 2 hours of car rental. Thank You Sixt. Great job!!! read more

Buyer beware! Rented an SUV via Hotwire March of 2019, very hard upgrade sell at the time of pick up, like seriously kept coming back and back with if we do this if we do that, kept saying no just give me the car I rented. Everything seemed fine until 2 weeks later after the rental when I get a letter from them saying there was damage to their vehicle and that I need to pay 115$, or I could send them proof of how I didn't damage it. I returned the car as it was rented to me, it had a small chip out of the windshield, I returned it for an early morning flight at 4am there was no one at the rental agency to accept my return, or check off the car with me. So I'm not sure what PROOF I have at this point of not doing this damage.... I guess I'm stuck with a 115$ bill which by the way is very close to the hustle and jive up sell they tried to get me for when I rented. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I chose them because i wanted to rent MERCEDES BENZ, which they offer. Long ride to their building well off the grounds of the Denver airport. No signage along the way. Walk in the office to find one male employee with someone and a young girl ERIKA on her cell phone. After a minute or two she puts the phone down and says "next customer". Building was hot, no AC. Computer is down so she has to fill out the entire contract by hand. Their ad says, present ID and CC, take you keys and go. Right. She was just slightly snotty until it came time to get the car. Then her demeanor went nuclear rude. She stands up and says Ill get your car. We go outside to find her sitting in the car, opens the door, gets out and walking away with her back to us says your keys are in the.......she was gone. The car was filthy, bird crap all over the windshield, glue and paper left on the windshield from the original sticker, and thanks for turning the AC on for us, as it was 93 degrees outside. No walkaround to check for dents, no check on the fuel status. BAD, bad, bad, Horrible employee. She needs to go. Will never use SIXT again. read more

I too was nervous using Sixt, given the bad reviews - had a backup reservation with National just in case. I reserved a Merceded Benz GLA class on Jan 26th and that is exactly what I got. Heading into the mountains I wanted to be sure that I had a vehicle with AWD due to traction laws. When making my reservation I was able to select "guaranteed 4WD" for $8/day. I chose that to ensure I could get an AWD at least. No problem, they had multiple Mercedes to chose from and a BMW X2. Short wait at the counter and everyone I dealt with was friendly and courteous. The car was fairly new with only 11k miles, but did have multiple scratches. I made sure to look it over carefully before leaving the lot as I didn't want to be charged for any of it. I did notice one that wasn't marked so a quick drive around to get it notated and I was off. Overall great experience and will definitely use Sixt again! read more

No signs at the airport telling you where to go to find the bus and then no signs when you're trying to return the car. They gave me a BMW with a major scratch (noting that it had a scratch to me and on my receipt, so I would drive it off the property). Then upon return -- they tried to make a claim against me for the scratch (this was a pretty large scratch). However, I called them and it was resolved pretty quickly. Where do I start? I arrived ready to pick up the all wheel drive vehicle that I already paid for. Just for the worker to tell me that I can only be guaranteed what I paid, if I pay $170 to upgrade. When I asked her to confirm my original request, she said that the fine print is that they can't guarantee it, you have to pay extra. All I wanted was an all wheel drive vehicle because I was traveling two hours from Denver into a snow storm and wanted to be safe. She said that if I pay more she can make sure that it's all wheel drive. Then she started in with the fake discounts (first time car renter with Sixt, etc.) just to get me to pay anything more than what I already paid. This was so disappointing. I ended up having to pay extra because I couldn't risk not getting an all wheel drive vehicle. I also prepaid gas, with the assumption I would get credited back whatever I don't use. Yeah, that didn't happen. Enjoy my gas to whoever drives the car next! Then the drop off. When I arrived to drop off the vehicle, there was one car in front of me. It was a couple with their infant child. The workers had them standing out in the freezing cold until they completed the vehicle check which took at least 20 minutes (from when I arrived until they were done). They had an INFANT! I just couldn't believe it. Drop off took a solid 40+ minutes. So plan for that as well. read more

Awful. Do NOT rent from them. We prepaid for a vehicle in Denver to go skiing. Obviously, had to cancel due to national emergency, cornavirus, and the ski resorts closing. Called more than a week in advance and they still charged me HALF of the rental. If I was to pay at the counter, they would not have charged me a change or cancel free. BUT, since I prepaid, they said they would NOT refund the full price. Now, the real kicker, all they did was give me a credit to use at their company. They could not even be respectful to refund me the money. The most offensive company I have dealt with in years, if not ever. DO NOT RENT from this company. They are awful. BUYER BEWARE!!! NEVER, I REPEAT, NEVER RENT A VEHICLE FROM SIXT! They are unethical, unscrupulous LIARS, and their vehicles, which are improperly maintained, are both dangerous and extremely unreliable! IF you have an issue, SIXT will be completely unsympathetic, they will DENY any and all responsibility for the mechanical performance of their vehicle, and they will NOT attempt to assist you in any way if should you become stranded by their (inoperable) vehicle. Instead, they will insist that you return the vehicle, even if you are hours away from a rental facility, and if attempting to do so puts you and your loved ones at serious risk of harm. Further, they will refuse to replace the vehicle and then suggest that you rent from another rental company, offering no reimbursement of any type whatsoever for the higher cost, inconvenience, and potential loss of your entire vacation. Then, weeks after the incident, they will suddenly accuse YOU of fabricating a nonexistent problem, deny all culpability for the mechanical performance of their vehicle, and then repeatedly harass you with emails and bogus 'invoices' for additional charges, administrative fees, and supposed 'damage' to their vehicle. MY experience: After a particularly harrowing experience with a Sixt minivan engine that completely stalled on the side of a remote, mountain pass in SW Colorado, I received an email from Sixt, more than a month later, requesting that I complete a "DAMAGE" claim form for their insurance. There was no "DAMAGE" to the vehicle, whatsoever! The vehicle was not operating properly from the very beginning - we just underestimated the severity of what seemed to be a very minor issue and the fact that the performance would so drastically deteriorate. There was absolutely no "damage" caused by us to their vehicle. Nevertheless, I competed the form, crossing thru the accusatory verbiage, and stated the details of our experience. One week later, SIXT replied with a message and invoice for more $2,000 in towing charges and 'administrative fees', claiming that management had reviewed our "case" and determined that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the vehicle and that WE were thus liable for all charges, which coincidentally were almost the exact same amount, to the dollar, as the estimated charges for repairing the problem that a mechanic, whom we had paid, had identified via computer error codes. Keep in mind - it was THEIR vehicle that malfunctioned, putting us at risk, and it was also SIXT who had failed to properly maintain the vehicle, mechanically. To date, now two months later, Sixt has continued to badger us with emails requesting additional, irrelevant information and "proof" that there was even an issue; they insist that there was nothing wrong with the van and that WE are somehow responsible for the towing (and likely the repair charges) that they incurred. BUYER BEWARE - SIXT is a completely UNETHICAL COMPANY - you should NEVER do business with them! I have rented hundreds of cars from reputable rental car companies over a 30 year sales career - it is merely matter of time before they are sued in a class action lawsuit brought by a multitude of dissatisfied customers! read more

Rented car in Oct. 2018. Got the car from Denver airport to go to Fort Collins and was told to avoid the tollway because of their car is somehow not allowed on any tollway in Colorado. So prepare for extra time if you rent from them. The shuttle from the airport was ok, but the shuttle back to the airport was playing very loud music at midnight and smells bad. The driver did not help with the baggage. Had a windshield crack during the trip. My own insurance company paid the damage, but they charged additional Loss of Use and "Admin Fee". My credit card looked into the record and decided they overcharged Loss of Use by about 100%, and paid half of Loss of Use. They didn't provide enough paperwork for "Admin Fee" to my credit card company for them to cover that. They still made me pay the rest half of the Loss of Use and all the "Admin Fee". I asked for detailed paperwork but wasn't given any. Will avoid this brand everywhere. read more

We booked a full size SUV. We were given a mini van. Being in the mountains of Colorado I booked a full size SUV for a reason. They are more powerful and have high ground clearance. We were told we would be given a nominal credit for the bait and switch. We still have not been credited any money We are renting a minivan next week, it's a one way return to a different state and it's $60/day. We paid $105/day for the full size SUV and they were supposed to credit us to $89/day. The lady at the counter was apathetic to our situation. She really didn't care and said we could go rent an SUV somewhere else. Of course it was 10 pm and we had no other reservation, 3 young kids, and the only place they will take us is back to the airport. She did offer for US to drive back to Denver (2+hours one-way from where we were staying) to get an SUV if they got one in We rent cars a lot as we travel typically 6 to 8 weeks per year. Not including business travel. This is hands down our worst experience. We have contacted their customer service and nothing! i unfortunately had a bad experience with Sixt as well. i reserved a car through Travelocity. i recieved the email to pre register for my car rental, but the app would accept my photos, so i was told to just go to the counter. i did. it was 9:45 pm at night, just as my reservation said. but no one was at the counter. the counter had a sign that said they were open from 6am to 10pm. But they had gone for the night. they knew i was coming because my name and reservation was on their computer screen. but there was no way to get my rental car. i called the help line, but of course got no liver person. my only options were to sleep in the airport and hope to be taken car of in the morning, or rent from another car company that was still there. i was not able to cancel my reservation or get my money back from Travelocity. i was told that i could not get my money back because it was against Sixt company Policy. never got an answer of WHAT policy. Never rent from Sixt, they will take your money and then just not show up. that is their supposed policy. read more

Great experience from the shuttle service both ways to picking up and dropping off the car. Only things to point out are we booked online and purchased the extra "full" insurance. They claimed to not know about this and when we showed them the booking, still tried to still sell us more insurance claiming the online purchase was through a 3rd party and it doesn't cover this or that, we passed. There is also a $13.00 per day charge to add a second driver. I would recommend them overall. read more

Here they go again. 20 minute wait for the shuttle was no big deal. Rental was fine, except that the vehicle had a coolant leak and constantly asked me to check the coolant level. Return the vehicle and a few days later receive an email stating they found a 4 inch scratch along the passenger door. I stayed through the vehicle inspection upon return and was told everything was fine. Vehicle was parked in a private residence, no such damage occurred. Read the reviews, this is how this crooked company operates. Wish I could leave 0 stars. Check Google, Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews, hell check their own Denver site and see the pattern. This was my first time ever renting a car, and it was a smooth, easy process overall. The shuttle arrived to pick us up from the airport within 5 minutes of waiting, and when we got to the Sixt we got an incredibly friendly and chipper woman named Karen as our representative. She explained all the details of our rental clearly and did not try pushing me to add on other expenses when I declined. We ended up getting a bigger car than what I had originally reserved for no additional charge. The car itself (a Chevy Traverse) drove with no problems up high in the Colorado Rockies and through the busy streets of downtown Denver. We returned the car with no extra charges added on, and a shuttle promptly brought us back to the airport. Everyone I interacted with, both in-person and on the phone, was very nice and helpful. I would definitely rent with Sixt again. read more

My first time using Sixt and although a little bit further away from the other car rental companies, it was well worth it. Checking the car in and out couldn't have been easier and the car they provided me with blew away any other rental Ive ever had. For the price of a cheap compact from the other car rental companies I was provided with a brand new, luxury, all wheel drive SUV. I kept waiting for the catch but there wasn't one. read more

Other than that, terrible company. Both times the company tried to pin car "damage" on my use. The first time, I had to open a case, which they ultimately excused. The second time, the same thing happened, but this time they are pursuing collections. Both times there was no damage, any different than what was inspected initially.
