Had a car booked here through booking.com. It was one of the cheapest options, but after reading a few reviews a few days before I picked up the car (and after the rental cancellation period had already expired), I noted the slow wait times. And sure enough, once I got there, I saw that Dollar had been temporarily been moved to the Thrify building. When I walked in and saw the line, I immediately noped it and cancelled the booking anyways. 2026 #39 read more

Very nice people, but terrible structure and organization. I suspect Dollar is trying to save money by not hiring more staff. Upon arrival from the airport, I checked in quickly and went to select a car. Pros: nice staff Cons: long wait, no cars in lots, confusing to find someone to talk to. Frustrating read more

I see bad reviews here, but my experience was better than expected for renting a vehicle at the airport. It's usually a process - find the rental car shuttle bus and ride it to the rental car agency then wait in line with your luggage a good hour and hope for the agent in the good mood. Luckily, I got an agent that was pleasant and accommodating. She answered my questions, repeated back to me the terms of the contract, gave me a complimentary upgrade and quoted me a fair price. The vehicle itself was new and in great condition. I drove it all around Denver and to Boulder. When returning the vehicle, I just drove right up in line and an agent came out to scan the door barcode and sent me on my way. That took about 2 minutes. The shuttle was there and got me promptly to the airport. read more

Car was booked through Expedia but Dollar snuck in "upgrade charge" without my knowledge. I was asked if I wanted a Nissan Rogue but agent never identified it as an upgrade. Car was fine but shady business practices and unexpected cost was not appreciated. Lesson learned. Always read the fine print and don't use Dollar! read more

Paid extra for an AWD vehicle given the snow. When we arrived, I tried the "touchless pickup" or whatever they call it from the reservation and it said "reservation not found". Went to the counter- not sure what the agents have to do but it's a very long process with lots of key clicks. I asked the agent to confirm we had an AWD and he confirmed. Went to the vehicle and of course it wasn't. Stood back in line for another 10+ minutes and got a different agent. She said they can't guarantee AWD- even if they have a listing for such that you paid extra for (dont list as an option if you don't actually have). So she swapped us to another vehicle and said she'd comp the gas. When I returned the vehicle- they charged me for gas. So I waited in line again, and had to re-explain to another agent why I was given the discount. So double-check your statement for misleading billing. read more

Not 24/7 as the website suggests. Rented a car to get from Denver to CoSp quicker than my 6.5h layover would've allowed. Checked in online so that I could grab the keys and go. When I arrived around 3:45a, 15 people were waiting. No one from the rental car company (Dollar or Thrifty) was present. We were told they'd be in by 4am, which came and went. The website instructed checked in drivers to access the self check kiosks, but those didn't exist. It's currently 4:45a, and there is still no one here. read more

Absolutely horrible! Rented a Chevy Equinox. Looked a little rough; exterior was filthy, multiple scratches and a chipped windshield . We complained about the condition of the car and the lot attendant told us to take pictures. We did. The attendant pointed out a chipped windshield and guess what. Dollar car rental billed us for the cracked windshield. WHAT A SCAM OPERATION you have going on here. My husband has been on the phone with them for two days now. Call one number, than told to call another number, then another, and everyone says the same thing "I understand, we apologize". Super quick to bill us for damage that was pointed out to us at pick up. Impossible to talk to anyone that can fix the problem. Folks this company is not worth the aggravation, use a different rental car company, We are fighting this, we have pictures' this company is totally unethical. Gives you a car that has damage, and then bills you for the damage. read more

Piggybacking on the review just before this one. The guy at the counter up charged us for the same class of car that I had already booked. Don't go here. I never leave negative reviews, but this is stealing and is totally unacceptable. read more

Dollar car/Hertz interchange their agents run them in conjunction. I payed for a rental online, they took my money, and when I show up, they ask for a credit card, they will not use debit, even though in other rentals they put a 500$ hold until you return your car. they did not give me any options, the rental had to be canceled and I was left at the airport scramb to figure out how to get to work. first and last time I do business with either of them read more

I went to Dollar rental because this was a cheaper option and I did it online. When I got there, they charged like $500 more for what online said and then the employee said for the inconvenience their gonna takeoff certain fees for us. I get the receipt at the end of our trip, it's still the same and we even get charged the toll fees that we said we didn't have to pay which is $9. Didn't care to much about that until there's a convenience fee on top of that which made a total of $20. I now just got another fee sent emailed to me that's for $30. So how did the toll fee for $9 turn into over $50 worth of fees. This is ridiculous. I will never be coming here again. read more

First off, we waited over an hour in line, while only 3 agents were working, though there are about 12 computers set up. We had reserved an SUV for $458 for our trip. We got there and were told it wasn't 4WD and we needed 4WD for drive to Breck. So, he said he could upgraded us but it would now be about $1250. We reluctantly agreed. Upon return, we found out that he tricked us and didn't just charge us $1250 total, but added a $1000 "upgrade fee" (plus fees and taxes) to the original $458 charge, so we now paid almost $1800 for a halfway decent GMC Acadia for 5 days! They claim "you signed it so you were aware", but it was a total bait and switch type move. They also tried to charge us for trunk damage that was already existing (but I failed to take a pic of). Oh, also, they have signs there indicating that they fill gas for $2.16/gallon. Guess what? Not true, we got charged $9.99/gallon. The signage (posted with review) is very confusingly written, I'm sure on purpose to help with the scam. We deserve AT LEAST our original $458 back! read more

I'll never understand why these rental car places install 15-20 registration computers and then use two or three of them at the most, leaving a line of folks to wait upwards of an hour. My wait was long; upwards of an hour after arriving by shuttle. The staff member was friendly, though I feel like the rates were all over the place. I also feel like they blast the music in the lobby so you can't hear with they're saying when they go over the rates. The electronic pad for signing didn't work so I guess I didn't need to really sign for anything. The most important point to ponder is: the car. The car, with all its 52K miles, is like new on the inside, well maintained, and clean, clean, clean. Because of this I jumped from two to three stars. The rates are a bit much, but the car is impressively good. Friendly staff, just not enough of them. read more

A quick trip to Denver turned into an incredibly difficult headache to resolve. When we first arrived at Dollar, they did not have the vehicle type we reserved, but that's (unfortunately) a common occurrence when renting a car, so we took it in stride (despite having to drive a massive SUV when we requested an economy sized vehicle) My husband and I returned the vehicle rented 1.5 hours prior to the return deadline; however, this location didn't close out our rental record which led Dollar to claim we never returned the rental. Despite calling to resolve the issue with Dollar/Hertz's "Overdue Department", and receiving assurances that they indeed received the car/they will reach out to the Denver location to get them to close out the rental record, the issue has still been escalated to a third party. Annoyingly, Dollar/Hertz has sent increasingly aggressive messages (again, despite returning the car prior to the stated return time.) I am still waiting for this issue to be resolved and hoping that Dollar sees this as a priority for a customer who has used their services multiple times. We thankfully took pictures of the car in the return line (and have a receipt showing that we filled the car up with gas at a station down the street 5 mins before we returned it), but that has not motivated Dollar to move swiftly in resolving the issue. Highly recommend renting from another company not in the Dollar/Hertz family given that their poor record keeping has caused us such immense stress when we followed all of the rules/requirements of the rental. read more

expensive hidden charges. I was told what I was paying wasn't all extra but was added on to what I already had paid. this was a lie. beware!

Great experience picking up the rental car. Definitely check in online so you can skip the long line at the rental car counter.

Slowest rental counter I have ever seen. They kinda just sit there. With a huge line. People are walking away ahead of me pissed bc their reserved vehicles aren't there. It's bad. It's really bad. At first I was concerned bc the bus took forever to come to the terminal to pick us up. Now I get why. There's no rush bc just an hour long or more wait once you get there read more

We arrived into Denver at 3:55 am, got our bags and took the shuttle from Island 4 to the dollar/Thrifty rental site. That was where the trouble began. DO NOT RENT HERE!!! We, along with multiple other early travelers arrived at 4:30 am and no one was manning the desks. Despite doing the checkin steps to make things faster for me, none of that matters if you have no one to give me the car. Perhaps it is time to get a kiosk because that would be open 24x7 and could give me my keys read more

Make it easier to reach an agent instead of keeping customers on permanent hold. Been trying to get through and cannot get a hold of anyone.

Was told that insurance HAD to be purchased when renting a vehicle in Denver, since I was not positive and wanted to research I did in fact sign the rental agreement. When discussing the Fuel Purchase Option I specifically asked if that meant we paid $2.20 a gallon for the amount we used? Or were we paying $2.20 a gallon for the full tank? We were told it was ONLY for the amount that was used. We get our bill at the end of the trip and the insurance was $16.90 a day and we were charged for the entire tank. To say the renting agent was deceptive is being nice, they know what they are doing and filling out a comment form I got more of the "you signed the agreement so you knew the charges". Will go back to only renting from Enterprise/National. read more

After reading numerous 1 star reviews, I still decided to give Dollar Car Rental at the Denver Airport a chance. I booked the reservation online. Before booking I called the phone number provided for the Dollar Rental in Denver and was assured I was booking an AWD/4WD SUV. On arrival to the airport, I was told I did not book the right reservation and had to pay an additional fee for an AWD/4WD. The front desk staff were unfriendly and did not make me feel welcome. I asked to speak about the situation with a manager, yet was told there was no manager available. Thankfully a young man outside, who told me he was a manager on duty was able to assist me with getting the SUV I needed for my trip. I understand that AWD/4WD are more popular in the winter months, but it is upsetting that the customer service representative on the phone helped me choose the best rental to meet my needs yet it was not the correct choice. To make matters worse, I got charged twice for the rental. Called customer service and they stated my rental was booked twice under two reservations. Still waiting on a refund. So check your credit card statements! Although the manager who was on duty was kind and understanding, try to avoid Dollar Car Rental at the Denver Airport! read more

Worst Rental Car Experience ever at Dollar Denver Airport.... 0 stars All staff that I interacted with were rude and unprofessional. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! Do not ever use these clowns to rent you a car. There is a reason why they get one star on average for their reviews. Dollar Car Rental - Denver International Airport 0:15 1:37 DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!! Arrived in Denver 10/16/24 @ 11 pm. Got text saying if I did all the online things I could by pass the line, BIG LIE! Got there and there was three lanes of lines. Out of seventeen stations there were four employees, after thirty minutes it went down to three, after forty-five minutes we were down to two and finally being there for an hour we were down to one employee! When it was finely my turn, two hours later, the guy was rude, never made eye contact and when asked a question he was very short! The worst rental car experience ever. Waited 30 mins for the shuttle at the airport. Finally got a uber to their facility. We have a reservation for a car. Worse experience of my life. I was told by the attendant in the front counter she would not rent me a car because I did not provide my social security number to her. When I asked what she needed it for she said a soft inquiry. I asked for what ? She kept saying that was the policy but never showed me, walked away and when she came back ignored me. I asked to speak to the manager on duty because she was being very rude to me once I told her I was not providing my social security number. She said you can wait for the manager until the morning. It was 12:35am. I walked away and she came from behind the counter to escort me out as if I was a criminal. I was furious she even told the driver of the shuttle not to take me back to the airport for me to walk. It was the worst I took pictures of this woman who was extremely rude and racist to Me. Took an hour to get out with our car, for which we'd prepaid & pre registered. There were about 20 people in line in front of us (at 10:30am on a Friday), only two people working the counter and one person working the outdoor booth. Employees were nice, but we will not use Dollar again. The other companies have streamlined the process (years ago) so there's no reason to waste time with Dollar. A week later they got back to me saying that I signed the contract so they're not required to give me a refund.
