Proper iced Thai tea to start
Jenny Mae S.

Honestly wow! Beautifully welcoming spot -- we got to sit in the front room decorated for the holidays which was lovely. Our appetizers were good; we had the calamari (gone, instantly) and crispy wontons; but the stars for me were the two noodle dishes which we ALWAYS get no matter what Thai spot we go to. The noodles were AMAZING for both the Pad See Ew and the Pad Kee Mao - perfect texture of a bouncy chew and silkiness that immediately lets you know the noodles are super fresh. I've been thinking of these noodles ever since.

I was craving some mango sticky rice, so I stopped by this quaint Thai spot to get my fix to go. I was surprised at how small the restaurant was on the inside. It's like a cozy, library eatery. It was decorated for Halloween so you will see that in ths pics. The service was quick, and they were pleasant. It was my least favorite version of mango sticky rice out of the variety of Thai spots I've visited. Overall, what stood out to me is how small the restaurant was on the inside. It's looks so much larger from outside.

I love the food here, I love the ambiance it reminds me of a study. The service is always friendly. The mango sticky rice is amazing. If you like great Thai food please do give them a try. I really think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Loved the atmosphere, food, and service here. We sat at the bar and ordered some apps and drinks. Eventually we also ordered food to go. Everything was delicious. I'll definitely return.

Crispy Duck Curry (2 stars)

Stopped in and did dinner family style. -The tom yum soup only comes in a personal size and the tomato taste comes off stronger than I'm used to -Combo basil fried rice was solid and the only thing I'd re-order -Had to order the fried tilapia filet because they ran out of whole flounders. The waitress took my order and then came back and told me they ran out "last week". Well then why haven't you restocked?! -_- The sauce was decent but I'm sure a whole crispy flounder would be way better than a filet. -The curry duck was average, probably wouldn't order it again. The skin wasn't exactly crispy, but I still enjoyed the texture of it. The curry is more on the lighter side, more fitting for the Potomac clientele. Very small portion. -I don't drink thai tea often, but I do prefer it to be sweeter than it is here

This may be the best Thai restaurant in the Washington DC area. That only is the ambience, warm and cozy, the food is spectacular, and the service is omnipresent - sometimes a little bit too omnipresent, especially if they want a table for the next party. You owe it to yourself to visit Sisters Thai: Panang Curry and "guy grob Kaprow" were excellent

Chicken udon

I enjoy sisters Thai and the variety of Thai street food options that they have. I got the chicken udon soup which was very flavorful and we also got a shrimp tempura appetizers. The white wine I had was also good and the vibes were cozy. The prices are on the higher side though so be aware of that when you go.

Cabin John has a wonderful diamond in the rough called Sisters Tai! If we had not looked it up we would have thought it might be a clothing boutique - it needs to say THAI Something! We walked into a very inviting library setting to the right and an inviting hallway flanked by a nice bar with a fully engaged mixologist grinding out a few drinks - as you walk down the hallway toward the back coffee bar the glass doors expose the nice patio that springtime is sure to fill! I had a cappuccino and tea - then soup, wings, curry and something else that was just yummy. Go to this place the food is tasty and worth every penny.

Went back here after a year or so lol it's kind of out of the way for us and there are also other good thai restaurants closer. I think sisters thai is good but a bit expensive compared to some other ones I have been to. Everything was good, especially the eggplant dish. It was spicy but we liked it. If you are okay with spicy, I would definitely recommend this.

We came in for a late dinner on Sunday night at about 8pm. It was beautiful out so we opted to sit outside. The lighting of the area and set up were beautiful. I ordered a Thai tea as my beverage and was very happy with it. The Thai tea is always so good here. For my entree I had the drunken noodles with beef and with medium spice. I always opt for medium heat because it's hot enough where I can still enjoy the flavors of the dish. The noodles were a lot larger/wider than I am used to, but I didn't mind. I felt that the dish had more meat than it did noodles- most places are quite the opposite where there would be more noodles than meat. There was plenty of flavor in the dish and I was quite happy with my meal overall. Service was great- we were given sufficient time to review the menu and make our decisions, the wait time was not long, the waiters were attentive to our needs and were efficient. Thankfully parking wasn't awful at the hour we were there. I'd recommend this spot and sitting outside on a beautiful night!

I am a huge fan of the chain and so happy they've been expanding. New Tysons location coming soon! My friend and I stopped in recently on a busy week night. I made reservations in advance. We ordered the green curry, fried fish, chicken pad see ew, and the mango coconut milk with sticky rice for dessert. Everything was delicious. The fish is a must order as there were no bones, had great Thai basil flavor and it was fried perfectly. The service and food here is as consistent as the other locations. The staff was really attentive and our food came out quickly. The decorations are similar to the other locations. The noise level here can be a bit loud and I found myself talking over other people. Seating area is a bit tight so if you have a party over 6 there maybe some wait time. Definitely save some time for dessert as their signature Magnolia desserts are delicious. Prices are reasonable for Potomac and its a great place to dine for some authentic Thai food.

Curry puffs

I came here recently to celebrate a friend's birthday, and this place came to mind based on ambiance and food. From the time you walk in and see the library meets cafe meets house, to the newspaper bulletin themed menus, you just know you're in for a treat. We had the curry puffs, crispy eggplant, crispy duck curry, and som tum set. My favorites were the curry puffs, crispy duck curry, and the papaya salad that came with the som tum set. I thought the duck in the curry and the chick in the som tum set were a bit on the drier side, and the crispy eggplant was a bit heavy on the batter for me. But overall, the food was good, and we enjoyed our time.

Second time here and will definitely be back! Had the lunch special with the salad and green curry, Thai iced tea, and mango sticky rice. Portions were perfect and everything was so flavorful & absolutely delicious. Got a small container of the Thai peanut salad dressing to go it was that delicious. Place is adorable, cozy & welcoming. Service was super friendly & fast.

The fried spring rolls were super! And good the sauce was too. The Thai and lychee and Thai tea are spectacular. The best Thai tea I've had perhaps. Veggie dumplings are also SPECTACULAR!!! Red curry panang was Super good and coconut flavored . It was a bit too strong and rich for me but definitely good. Shrimp black pepper was good! Pad Thai with tofu so good!!! The peanut hint was delicious and the noodles had a perfect texture Pad kaprow was pretty good and a little spicy. The drunk noodle was ok. Not crazy about the noodle texture but the chicken on its own is ok. The combo of the noodle chicken and veggie isn't bad but I'm not crazy about it because of the noodles. The beef is a bit too chewy and I'm not crazy about the taste (bland). All in all the main dishes were very good and so were the apps!

Not enough good things can be said about this place! It's convenient with lots of parking right out…read morefront and behind, it's beautiful, open, and airy with really nice, earthy light fixtures that gives a natural, grounded feeling, the seating is comfortable, the place is spacious, the staff are all very nice, friendly, and welcoming -- and perhaps most important of all, accommodating of different needs. The food is, of course, delicious, nutritious, perfectly cooked, flavourful, healthy, and great for the entire sensory system. All of your senses will be pleased here! If you want to add a bit of spice, there is a tray of spice mixtures you can ask for that will be brought to the table, too .... Visiting around the Thai new year is especially cool because the staff all wear colourful tops for the occasion! I particularly enjoy the Pad Woonsen that I request and receive vegetarian with no problem. I've been to many a Thai restaurant that would not accommodate this simple request -- or would do so only begrudgingly or sometimes and after a struggle -- so I really appreciate that here, it's no problem and no hassle. The Tofu and Vegetables Soup is delicious, the Thai Iced Tea and Thai Iced Coffee come in a really cool broad metal cup -- very impressive! It really makes an impression when it comes out and is brought to the table. Sitting there, it looks like the Queen of the table to me! So shiny and inviting, wow! The cup isn't just some regular old, plain boring smooth shiny metal cup -- oh, no! It's hammered into a splendid work of art! The Mango with Sticky Rice has purple rice coloured with butterfly pea flower tea and it's beautiful! There is many a feast for the eye to be had here! I have been coming here since they opened and don't remember every dish I've gotten -- but don't remember ever being disappointed in anything, but rather amazed! I obviously enjoy the looks of things and that's important to me, so the fact that so much care is put into that here really makes a difference in my view. There is clearly care taken with how each piece of tofu is put on my plate so it comes out looking great! I find that makes it much more appetizing. It appeals to me, draws me in, and makes me want to eat it from the moment I first see each dish come into my visual awareness. I find the portions to be generous and think maybe sometime I could even just have the Tofu and Vegetable Soup as a meal if I wasn't too hungry. I enjoy the soft tofu in the soup and the firmer fried tofu in the Pad Woonsen. Besides, glass noodles are just fun! They're cool to look at, they're stretchy, and they taste great plus they're very healthy being made from mung beans and all. I just really like a good mung bean noodle! I'm always disappointed when I can't have it. For me, it makes a big difference that here, I can! The Fried Tofu starter is okay, but not my fave. (Can you tell I like tofu, though? Ha ha! Yes! I am a major tofu-lover, and that place well satisfies that craving!) I should also mention, the rice is perfect! There are big windows that let in a lot of light, so you can see very well while you dine, and cool little touches here and there such as little black rocks stacked up to make a nice little entryway to the slightly elevated seating area farthest from the entrance ... which, by the way, is a very welcoming place! You are greeted nicely here with a warm smile, and feel good from the moment of arrival! Thank goodness! What a relief! It's so nice to be able to just enter, be seated, and rest and relax while perusing the many choices and waiting not-too-long until the meal arrives ... and delights the tongue and tummy! All-around total Yay! :-D

Whenever I get regular spicy at a Thai place I normally expect to be hit with a kick of spice that hits the tongue. Except here everything was just so sweet it made me somewhat nauseous. Most of the soup dishes had similar based of noodles, protein and herbs. Unless you enjoy overly sweet dishes this wasn't for me as I'd prefer a spicy yet savory kick in my Thai dishes with a slight sweetness. It shouldn't be overpowering. Papaya salad reg spice was sweet. No kick whatsoever. Just papaya shaving, some iceberg lettuce at the bottom and some halved grape tomatoes. Khao soi noodle soup a sweet curry broth. A bit too sweet. Also got it with a tempura chicken but it was mostly fried wonton skin and barely any chicken. Chicken was also dry and hard. Tom yum noodle soup A creamy yet spicy "tom yum" broth. It has somewhat of a kick but for regular spice level it was still too sweet. Even with all the red pepper flakes. It was also missing the lemon grass scent in most tom yum soups I'm used to. Thai noodle soup The only non-spicy dish. Broth was a clear base that was somewhat better after all the sweet dishes. But a little bland. Thai green tea was good though. Just a bit sweet but need to be drank with ice.

We each had the soup, which was seasoned well and had mushrooms and tender chicken. A decent soup. Not the best I've had, but good, and impressive as an accompaniment with the $12.95 lunch special. Several people in the restaurant had salads in front of them - the salads all looked good and were a nice size, with lettuce and carrot. I got the green curry with veggies. I was impressed by the amount and variety of veggies - green and red pepper, mushrooms, carrots and broccoli. The green curry sauce was spicy, but not overpowering. The rice that came with it was steamed white rice (which I'm thinking was over steamed, because it seemed to have absorbed a lot of water and was really boring). Unfortunately, the curry sauce, which was good, couldn't overcome the boringness of the rice. So instead of mixing the curry sauce in with the rice and eating it, I left about half the rice. It might make sense to opt for the brown rice, although it costs extra and might have the same issue depending on how it's prepared. My partner got the Pad La Pow with pork. They said it was very good, but not spicy as advertised. (It's advertised as having two stars of spiciness - the most on the menu). I'll try the place again. The soup was decent with a good amount of chicken, and the green curry was good with lots of veggies. Although I'll probably try something different to avoid the bland rice. The place is very nice inside. The server was excellent. We were seated next to a group where one of the individuals spoke very loudly, and the server came over discretely and asked if we'd like to move, which we did. And his service for the rest of the meal was very attentive (i drink a lot of water, and I judge a lot of service by how many times my water glass gets refilled - great job today) and friendly. The price point for the lunch special - $12.95, is excellent.
