This is a clean and cute quick eats place. We just got a tuna kimbap to go but the inside is very bright and airy. I would say the kimbap is much lighter compared to most traditional ones, but we liked it. Service was great, there was a Korean (I think?) uncle there who greeted us with a big smile, and the other staff was great and offered us water while we waited for our to go order.

Seafood tofu soup

New and cozy restaurant that serves homemade Korean food! My husband and I were interested in a quick lunch, and we saw that this place was newly opened. The restaurant is small, but has cozy vibes with simple but neat decor. The owner himself is a kindly Korean grandpa and he greeted us and talked to us for a while, he also seems to be the main chef. I started off with the steamed shrimp dumplings which I really enjoyed as they were stuffed with shrimp and had a nice, thin dumpling skin. I also ordered the seafood soondubu tofu soup and my husband ordered the chicken bulgolgi. The soondubu had large chunks of tofu and a diversity of seafood, but maybe it could have had a bit more seafood. My husband also enjoyed his chicken bulgolgi and said it was very juicy and fresh without being too oily. I appreciated the pleasant and friendly service from the owner and I liked that the parking was easy and convenient, we plan to be back soon!

Bulgogi kimbap.

Went back for lunch today. It's that kind of place. If you are in the area, you owe it to yourself to stop and try this lovely restaurant.

Small spot, big flavor. Bulgogi kimbap was amazing, perfectly balanced with fillings. Would definitely come again.

Yay! It's open!

(TLDR: All-around YAY in every way! A big 'Woo-hoo!' too! :-D) Exciting new restaurant in Rockville! What a fresh, clean, inviting and open space decorated by someone who clearly has a high aesthetic sensibility .... The hearty portions of food are delicious, served saucily (with sauce on the side) with a smile. Everyone here is so nice! There is plenty of parking nearby, including disability-marked spots and there is also a ramp to get up, with a large door to get in. What's really amazing about this place is how large it feels -- from the outside, it seems so small but once inside, it opens up magically into a world of tasty, healthy meals ... and a selection of frozen desserts one may peruse through the glass door of the freezer case by the counter, where food is ordered before being brought cheerily to one of the four white tables. The chairs, walls, and floor all being white adds to the feeling of increased space where once it was so crowded .... What a transformation, wow! Of course, this particular portion of this review won't apply to anyone who hasn't been in this space before but for those who have, wow! Just wow! It could be said to be very minimalist -- reduced to the absolute essentials ... with a few added extras for maximum yumminess and enjoyment! The framed art on the walls is most especially pleasing to the eye for those who appreciate such things -- and the beautiful-yet-simple, down-to-Earth placemats all come together to create a visually unique and special dining experience -- before the filling food even arrives .... Satiation is achieved in the most satisfying way possible -- for both stomach and eyes ... and also heart! One most special item is the small Korean pancake -- unusual because it's normally only available in a rather large size, so this is very different! It's just one of the things that distinguishes this particular Korean eating spot from other Korean restaurants in the area. This one is more health-focussed, with ... I hesitate to say this (not to dis on other places or the people there!), but the higher level of English available here really does help a lot. There is less room for miscommunication when ordering -- a very important distinction! It is really not fun to find out you've eaten something you specifically said you didn't want to receive, and only figure this out once it's too late! Lessening the chances of that is wonderful! No promises being made here about this but it seems that ordering in Spanish would also be a possibility ... and depending on the day and time, perhaps another language as well. To me, this is ideal and so fun! The food and art are specifically Korean but in some ways, it's more worldly than that ... so you really are stepping into another world when you come here! (Or rolling, of course, if that's how you arrive.) K Bap Express did take a bit of time to open -- but it's totally been worth the wait! The selection, kindness, and heart-expanding décor together provide room for a much-needed rest in many ways .... The visual interest so very well tended-to gives the eyes a way to eat and be nourished, as well .... There is something for every part of a patron to love! The presentation of the food is delightful, so you can soak it in before indulging ... and leave filled with nutrition for your stomach, eyes, heart, and soul .... Apologies if I have gushed repetitively about certain stand-out virtues of this place! It's just so deserving, I haven't been able to help myself! I hope you try it and love it as much as I do!

Ahh I love invigorating Korean food. Came to this place after having a silver spring adventure and…read morewe exhausted. This food put satisfying smiles on all our faces. I ordered a tofu soup with miso base and a kimchi pancake for the table. The pajeon was so appetizing I may have forgotten to take a picture before we dug in, and the tofu soup was just very warming. I didn't want anything spicy or I would've gotten a jjigae. You'll notice if you come here that this place is frequented by local Koreans, which tells you this is a good spot haha

The predominant flavor of the kimchi jjigage was gochugaru. The haemul pajeon didn't have much seafood and came with several burnt spots. The japchae was extremely oily and included very few vegetables. I make better Korean food at home just by watching Maangchi videos. Speaking of videos, the only reason I found this place was through a TikTok, which offered a rave review and showed a packed restaurant. I guess this is how I know FoodTok has officially reached the mainstream, because I'm seeing more and more staged scenarios and dubious opinions. The only thing anybody had anything positive to say about was the rice, which was technically perfect. There is an old adage that goes, "you can judge a restaurant based on how well they cook their rice." But if you have a table full of food and the only thing people want to finish is the rice, then you've got a whole other problem.

The environment clean and casual…read more Staff was cordial. The Food: The seafood tofu soup was flavorful. Came with a bowl of crispy rice. The beef bulgogi was ok. The quality of meat was average. The kimchi pancake was crispy and tasty with a sauce on the side. The japchae was just ok. Lots of noodle but limited on the other ingredients like meat. They charge for every single box/container for leftovers. Then they roundup the total bill when they charge the credit card. I would go back to try other dishes.

A family member suggested this restaurant so I looked at the Yelp reviews. I was wondering why it…read morehad so many one star reviews? I read them and it was all about the service, especially about tipping. The managment at this restaurant needs to wake up! The food here is very good but the servers are out of control. Here is my experience. We enjoyed a good meal, the entrees were well seasoned and the servers kept our tea glasses full. I could have used more seafood in my soup, it one jumbo shrimp and one clam so small it was a chocking risk but the broth was good and medium hot as ordered. I got the check and I paid with a credit card for the food only and signed it. I leave tips in dollar coins because I believe we should get rid of the $1 bill as most industrialized countries had done. It would save taxpayers $283 million dollars a year. The coin will last forever, as they have no "melt" value. The server walked away from the table and immediately confronted me, "Where's the tip?" I said I was leaving a cash tip. I put $12 on the table in a pile of coins for a $60 check, and we went to the car. The server followed us out the door and demanded to know where the tip was? I said it was on the table and we got into the car and left. If you look at the one star reviews, my fellow yelpers had similar problems. Management needs to tell the servers that tipping is not required. I usually tip 20%, sometimes more if the service is exceptional. If I have a bad meal and/or service, I will ask to see the manager. Since, in the past, I have managed restaurants, I am comfortable doing this. I have told my daughter, who doesn't believe in tipping that she will be less welcome each time she returns to a restaurant. I know how servers feel about people that don't tip, that servers depend on tips. However, in my 20 years of restaurant work, I have seen servers fired for confronting customer about small or non-existent tips. Usually, a professional server will go back to the kitchen and say something nasty about the customer or make fun them. I would not return to this restaurant pending an apology for the server's rudeness and I would not recommend that you go there.
