Large comfortable place. Sit anywhere but make order at central coffee/pastry area, then they bring food out to your table. People working there are friendly and helpful. Both were delicious and beautiful. this was the first time we had come for their breakfast fare but we have been here many times for lunch. Had a delicious white chocolate mocha served in an oversize coffee cup and Belgium waffle with strawberries, bananas and whip, yum! Visited on a Sunday morning with a large group, the staff was friendly and efficient. The only disappointment was that, even though we ordered one after another at the counter, the food was brought out at separate times. The three whom ordered the scramble special were just about finished eating by the time the rest of the food was brought to the table. This is our go-to breakfast place! We love getting here before the rush and getting the waffle, French toast trio or any of the omelettes! Suzanne is the best and is always working so hard! She knows our names and our kids names and it just makes it that much better. Do yourself a favor and order a scone before your food gets there, they warm it up and it goes perfectly with the coffee! Sintra is a breath of fresh air in the usual Bend breakfast and lunch fare. The Portuguese style food is familiar but the taste is just unique enough to make you think you are not in Central Oregon. The coffee is good too. Sometimes it can be noisy. They play some good Soccer matches too and that is a fun atmosphere. Went into Cafe Sintra after reading the reviews. Was craving a crepe. Had the peach and walnut crepe and a cappuccino while sitting outside enjoying a perfect Bend morning. Excellent little cafe in downtown Bend. I ordered the Mediterranean omelette from the daily special board, and it was fresh and flavorful. My companions ordered the breakfast burrito and the Sintra Benedict with salmon and both received rave reviews. The service was quick and friendly. Art by local artists adorns the walls, and most of it appears to be for sale. The only complaint I have is that it is a bit loud, but that isn't enough for me to downgrade the star rating to four. read more

Yelp usually is a great tool in metropolitan areas for good food findings. I find in bustling retirement towns my ideas of great food definitely doesn't jive with those of octogenarians. Well Bend is one of those places. Lots of 4-4.5 star dogs here. Sintra is not one of those, rather a stunning environment with incredible food. We ate there 4 times, two breakfasts, one lunch and a dinner. Great espresso with heavy cream, not just half and half, homemade pastries, crepes all the way to excellent sandwiches, salads, frittatas and lots of fun beers/wines. I was excited to try this place for breakfast based on the reviews. The service was nice at the counter. It took a while for the food to arrive and when it did, I wasn't impressed. There really wasn't any spice or flavor to the dish. All I could taste was eggs, even though there was supposedly cilantro and green chilies in it. The restaurant is cute and large enough to where you don't really have to wait long for a table, even on a Saturday. I've found other breakfast eateries in Bend that were much better. read more

I am not a picky eater. I like most food. My girlfriend and I had brunch here recently, and the food was not good. The scrambled eggs were fine, but the potatoes were very bland and the pancakes were downright bad: weird texture and flavor, dense, and maybe undercooked. Do not get pancakes here. Service was okay, though the table was a bit dirty and one of our orders was long delayed. While waiting, I heard another table encounter the same issue. These things happen, and the waitress seemed apologetic about it. I got home and complained to a friend that I had a lousy brunch in Bend. Unprompted, my friend asked: "Was it that Portuguese place? Cafe Sintra?" She too had been lured by the positive reviews on Yelp. I decided I needed to leave my own. read more

We had a group of 16 somewhat fussy ladies which might present a challenge to a smaller restaurant. The staff at Cafe Sintra at the downtown location took very good care of us. The excellent food was served to our table even though we had ordered at the cash register. They offer some interesting twists on the usual brunch items. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Very friendly counter help. We ordered the basic bacon and eggs breakfast with eggs over medium. Potatoes and bacon both appeared to have been deep fried. Eggs were very over done and rubbery. Just plain not good. Toast was over toasted and hard and served dry with butter on the side. Not great. Went here for breakfast with my mum. I got pancakes and she got the spinach crepe. My pancake tasted very weird and had burnt salad greens on the bottom of it, and the crepe they used for her savory meal was very noticeably sweet. Wouldn't go here again. read more
