Went in and asked for seating for 5 adults, a toddler and a baby. Our server was great! If only the food was as good as she was. I had a single tostada. The chicken was somewhat dry and lacking in flavor. The shredded lettuce was very fresh, as were the tomatoes. The salsa was really good too. My wife had a tostada plate but she had shredded beef. She said it was OK. When I saw that we were charged $5 for a fountain Coke as well as for chips & salsa I was surprised. Still, after seeing what a mess the toddler left behind I gave the staff my sympathy. A couple of hours later the stomach pains started. I was an onlooker on the patio, and witnessed about two weeks ago a waitress drop a drink on a guest, the way the staff treated the family was ugly. I was appalled. I watched it happen, the waitress still served the half spilled drink that drenched the women, didn't even make a new drink, the family had to ask for a new beverage, the waitress didn't even offer an apology. Overall We were looking for a lunch spot and were heading for a spot we found on Yelp, but saw this place that was closer, had a full parking lot, and made a snap judgement. This ended up being a bad decision. The Good The salsa was very good and the skinny margarita is something we would order again. The Bad Service was slow. We started with a cheese quesadilla and it came cold and the cheese was not fully melted. We decided to share the carnitas plate. The corn tortillas were store bought. The carnitas were dry. The refried beans were made from scratch, but lacked flavor. The rice was mediocre. Oh, in regards to that full parking lot, turns out it is public parking. There were not that many people in the image. In Summary This is bland Mexican food and not worth your time. There are many other good places around. I used to eat at Sinaloa way back in the 80's before the building near Cochrane burned down. A few years later they re-opened on Monterey Highway and they are still there. I have to say the experience is quite different though. Most remarkably are the high prices. I saw a 1 star review for them because they charged a guy $2 for extra tortillas. That is certainly harsh as the quality of the food and the experience is quite good. I did ding them a star for ridiculous prices. As for foor, I had the Chile Verde plate and it was great. A misunderstanding got me a salad instead of rice and beans so I had to order a side of rice to go with my meal. The pork was tender and partially "pulled" with a few big chunks in between. It was tasty and I would eat it again. My wife had the combo salad with shrimp and she loved it. The greens were fresh, big chunks of avocado and tomato, A few large shrimp perfectly grilled. It looked yummy. The outdoor space was the highlight. Dog friendly to the point that they even brought us a bowl of water for little Lillie! They have a kool fish pond that has fish jumping into the air constantly, it was a fun space for sure! A great place to enjoy one of their legendary margaritas. I'm not in morgan hill enough to say I'll be back any time soon but I would recommend this place for a big night out where your not worried about a big bill as much as a good time! We decided to participate in the great American Take Out tonight. Got 2 burritos and the margaritas to go from Sinaloa. $70. Whatever. We're supporting local business during this hard time with Coronavirus hurting small business. EXCEPT! When the margaritas came with the food, we had some uninvited guests, too. My husband came home, poured the margaritas, squeezed the limes, and out came two nasty bugs. Legs floating and everything. I passed on the margaritas. Burritos were meh, rice was old and stale, and beans were super watery. I should've just ordered from Las Isabellas. They never disappoint. But I was like nooo I must satiate my curiosity. I've always wanted to try that place. ‍ So then I called the restaurant, and they were rude, saying they ALWAYS wash everything. Yeah probably the first time. Before you left them out. So much vomit, I can't. The first guy I talked to handed me off to someone else like I needed to tell him, too, but didn't seem to believe me. I do not enjoy calling restaurants to give them negative feedback. I didn't want to Yelp because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but all I got was attitude. Ok, now I shall Yelp. Oh, but I could have a free drink if I come back in. No thank you. Will not be back. 0/5 Stars if I could. My husband and I came here and we were having a lazy Saturday and wanted some drinks and chips/salsa. So we went there and we were immediately taken to our table- in the corner. So we sat down and then we had chips and salsa. Their chips and salsas were tasty but also spicy. We needed water and proceeded to wait for a waitress to come over and greet us and take our orders. Nothing. 15 mins go by and now we have finished a basket of the chips and salsa and now our mouths are on fire. That's on us but it just shows you poor attentiveness on the business. I'm sure there's a F&B manager or owner walking around but no one checked on the patio (outside). So we got up and left. When we got home we were super thirsty! Geeze. I'm truly disappointed coming here. I was looking forward for a good time and yummy food and drinks but this experience really shut me down. The food was tasty.....BUT I have a problem with Mexican establishments that bring two people out one little serving of salsa and then want to charge for more. We didn't get any salsa with our food and hardly any pico on my tostada salad. The restaurant is way overpriced and then stingy with the main condiment??? Disappointed in the service. It was a really slow afternoon and there were not many tables in the restaurant but it took 10 min to get greeted after the chips and salsa were dropped off. Asked for an al a carte burrito but was charged for a full plate - when I said I didn't order a full plate, the server had no explanation other than they charge for the rice and beans in the burrito, so they add more to the side to be nice. But the burrito on the menu was described as "meat of your choice, rice, beans and cheese" so this was just an odd explanation, but it being my daughters birthday, I didn't wanna make a big deal. There was also a server who was just clocking in half way through our meal that was super excited to talk about his 'shrooming experiences. If I could give zero stars, I would! Trust me, there are better tasting Mexican restaurants out there with better drinks and WAY better service. The only redeeming thing about this place is the location...but the food and drinks are mediocre at best, and the service is horrendous. I went tonight (reluctantly) after atrocious service a few weeks back where one server messed up orders on our table and every table in the back room. We made 5:15pm reservations tonight, and got there at 5pm. Another family was finishing up on the table we wanted and we were asked to wait in the bar while they prepped the table. No one ever comes to seat us so we just seat ourselves in which case the hostess tells us we were late and for that our service would be severely delayed, and we would be last priority. Um WHAT?! First off, we were 15 minutes EARLY. 2nd off, don't treat your customers like that even if that were the case. How about you hire more workers? That is probably a better solution to your problems. Either way, I will never set foot in this place again. I didn't ever care for the food in the first place. La Hacienda or Jesus are way better. We walked out and went across the street to Noah's tonight. Had great service and tasty food. read more

What a treat! First real meal eating out in the South Bay Area for my Dads Birthday. This was open for outdoor seating only and it was perfect. The patio was very nice with everyone the minimum 6ft apart. We were there a little before 5 so no wait on a Saturday night. We were waited on by Yarin (I think) and she was GREAT!! So sweet and friendly and very attentive. All the food was amazing. Every single dish was so delicious, way better than I remember from a couple of years ago. Chimichanga was probably the best though hands downAnd as always, the margaritas are yummy and they are not stingy with the tequila let me tell ya. When I found out I was coming here for dinner, I was actually excited because my parents are from Sinaloa (a state in Mexico). Anyway came here super hungry and after a long day at the Outdoor Sports Center, I couldn't wait to eat and have a drink. Came here with a party of around 20 people, my daughters coach chose this place I believe. Dinner was okay, chicken was rubbery and the girls didn't like their food. Michelada was good. So what I want to take from this dinner, are the good memories! The girls had fun talking and I got to know some of the parents a little more (this is a new team). So the negative side of this dinner, that I will try to forget after I write this review (sigh)...our server was rude. There is a review from Michelle if you scroll past mine, she states exactly what happened. Our sever "Soleto" actually argued with her teenager!! Is that ridiculous or what?? I really wanted to say something but it wasn't my daughter and I'm barely getting to know the families in my daughters soccer team. When "Soleto" our server gave the teenager her food, the teenager then stated she had ordered green sauce not red. Well our server started arguing with her, saying that "the teen" clearly said red sauce! That went on for way too long!!! Does it matter who's fault it is...just fix it!!! Okay, so our party was also being polite and the people that received their food first, were waiting for the rest of the party's food to arrive before eating. Our sever "Soleto" told those who were waiting, that they needed to "understand" that the food was not all going to arrive at the same time! Honestly I didn't say anything because the people I was with were all polite...but man I was dying to say something!!! Did I mention she added an 18% gratuity??? I have eaten here several times and the food is always good. Portions are very generous. Their mole enchiladas and chile verde are my favorite dishes I've had there. Service can be a little slow but every member of their staff has been very kind and polite. I will say, their margaritas are huge and delicious, but tend to be extremely sweet. March 12, 2022 we took 28 family members to this cafe for a pre-planned luncheon. The event was outstanding. The manager and staff out did themselves with their courteous service and great food. The young ones enjoyed the water fountain filled with colorful fish. We were seated outside which turned turned out to be private and very comfortable. Pricing was very reasonable. The manager, Roman and his supervisor Jaime went out of their way to make sure our event was special. It was my 85th celebration. The event exceeded my expectations. Where do I start? My family and I have been going to The Sinaloa Cafe for over 30 years and it's sad to see what has become of what was once a very fine family restaurant. When the Pena's owned it there was a sense of community and shared experience. It was like a party with friends. The wait times were ridiculous and the service wasn't always great but the food was excellent and the drinks were amazing. Now, it's fallen so far it's unrecognizable. I counted 9 TVs in the bar/dining room which made it look like a sports bar. I know that because we waited 15 minutes standing at the reception waiting for someone, anyone to acknowledge us and maybe, at some point, seat us. I finally asked one of the servers if someone would help us and she blurted out "we only have two servers tonight so we're short staffed"...that's it. We waited for another few minutes and in that time the other three employees there looked straight through us and never spoke a word. Usually when people say " I've been waiting 15 minutes" it means 5 minutes but I timed it and it was at least that so we left. I realize that some restaurants are using Covid or whatever as an excuse for terrible service but not having enough staff is the owners problem to solve and not the customer's. If the place is short staffed, where was the owner? Nowhere to be found... My advice, get your act together before you completely crash this iconic restaurant. read more

We stopped by today me and my 10 year old daughter, nobody greeted us for 5 min felt like we walked in a western movie with awkward silence but everybody was staring including workers but nobody greeted us. So I walked in asked a few people should we sit ourselves or? A man drinking a beer at the bar said try to get her attention when you can. I did not want to sit next to the bar with 10 year old so we requested to sit on the other side. We received a bowl of chips with a long black hair in the chips we sat for 15 min nobody greeted us got us drinks or anything. I had lunch here last month. I ordered a chili rellano and it was the worst one I've ever eaten. That is my go to to order at Mexican restaurants. I mentioned it to the owner. They will charge you for water claiming that county does not allow them to serve tap water because of Covid. Lies!!! I managed a high end restaurant and it's not against the law. We come here often but I think it's mostly because they are the only Mexican restaurant in town other than taquerias. I would say their food is good but WAY over priced. Even though I know this I'm always shocked by the bill. The other issue is that the food is inconsistent, and I dislike that. They used to offer complimentary chips and salsa and now they charge you. That's fine my family gets down on it so I can see paying for it. We always pay for the unlimited chips and salsa which wouldn't be so bad if they actually brought you refills when you ask (they eventually will but it takes a long time... always). The other really annoying thing is they won't give you a cup of water, they used to, but now they charge for bottle waters. We typically order pitchers of margaritas and super chavelas so it's not like we are a cheap table, just want my free water. Our bill is always $200 + for 4 people. The staff seems like you are bothering them when you ask for anything. Last time we were there we ordered steak taco salads (2 orders) and they both came with chicken. When we pointed this out it seemed like we were frustrating them that we wanted this corrected. The lady even asked "well is the chicken okay?" and when I said I'd like the steak I ordered she said "well it would take 15min" I was pretty caught off guard by this. Ultimately we settled in keeping what we had. This has happened before, my group had 3 orders of steak and prawn fajitas, we received chicken for all 3 and only 2 had prawns, this time Popeye was quick to correct this so it was no big deal. Popeye seems to be the only one there who wants guests to have a great experience. More often than not he takes care of our group, and while service is slow he is very personable.
