Almost an hour after sitting down, a manager from BMerrells (Sylvia) approached us and told us the table "belonged" to their restaurant and that we needed to move. That would have been easier to respect if there were any signage or indication of reserved seating, but there wasn't. Not only that, we were not near their entrance. We were in the middle of a space literally called "Commons." As parents of small children, moving further away from the grass area wasn't just inconvenient. It was an unrealistic risk to our children's safety. When my sister asked for a menu, Sylvia said yes, but instead of returning herself, she went inside and sent a server out. That alone set the tone. We went ahead and ordered the drink of the month and chicken tenders. The wait was long enough that I considered canceling the order entirely, and when the food finally arrived, it did not justify the delay. The tenders looked and tasted like something straight out of the frozen aisle. What's most disappointing is that this entire situation could have been handled differently. A simple, respectful explanation or even visible signage would have gone a long way. Instead, the approach felt dismissive and unnecessarily territorial over a shared public space. If tables are exclusive to BMerrells, that needs to be clearly communicated. Otherwise, don't create tension in a family-friendly environment where people are simply trying to enjoy the space, especially when children are involved. This was my first experience with BMerrells, and it will absolutely be my last. I'll also be following up with property management, because there's a way to handle situations like this and this wasn't it.

It was just over that, but still so tasty, juicy, and tender. The grits were a stand out! They were so good that our table got an extra side to share. Our server, Addison was such a personality and knowledgeable about the menu. Her service convinced me that I could trust her with basically anything. We sat outside, so we never got further than the threshold so I can't say I know too much about the vibe inside. However, there was great people watching, GREAT food, and great company. It is not in the best location, but it had enough parking. The place was beautifully themed and decorated with traditional Chinese decor. Reminded me of how gorgeous a place can look. Even their tables and chairs fit the place well. In the background, they also played soft and mellow music. I got my usual here, as I would, which is chicken and broccoli with a side of noodles. I also tried the crab Rangoons there. Everything was delicious. Perfectly seasoned, cooked, just the right amount of sauce. You cannot beat this spot in town. Once we confessed our unfamiliarity, however, our server proved exemplary--patiently translating the offerings and clarifying the distinctions among dishes. That guidance was invaluable. The drink list itself is less successful. The type is small and faded, rendering it difficult to decipher. It offers the expected spectrum--signature cocktails, standard spirits, a handful of traditional Indian preparations, and the usual non-alcoholic options of Pepsi products and tea. We ordered a yogurt-based Indian beverage that proved, for our palates at least, thoroughly off-putting; we could not finish it. My unsweetened tea fared little better: thin, faintly skunky, and lacking the depth of a proper brew. One could see through the liquid in the glass--hardly the robust, dark infusion one hopes for. The shared starter, Shrimp 65, delivered more consistently. The shrimp were of respectable size and carried a lively, well-integrated spice mixture that flattered rather than obscured their natural flavor. A faint aftertaste of tired oil lingered once the initial spice bloom faded, yet the accompanying green chutney more than compensated. Complex, earthy, and intriguing, it played beautifully against the seasoned shrimp. Presentation was classically restrained: a simple bed of slaw and fresh herbs providing color and contrast without pretension. The Andhra Curry arrived next and proved the evening's most compelling discovery. Ordered on impulse for its promised heat, the dish revealed a far more nuanced character: layered spices that refuse to be isolated, a gentle creeping warmth rather than aggressive fire, and tender, moist chicken that retained its own flavor. Served with well-cooked rice, it is a plate I would order again without hesitation. Chicken Tikka Masala, by contrast, is the safer classic--and executed with quiet confidence. A rich, velvety sauce of genuine complexity cloaked generous pieces of chicken. Ordered mild, it carried little heat yet lost nothing in depth. Paired again with excellent rice, it remains an ideal introduction for the hesitant diner and another dish I would gladly revisit. Among the breads, the butter naan stood out: lightly crusted yet airy within, sturdy enough to scoop curry yet fragrant enough to enjoy alone. The subtle buttery finish elevates it further. The poori (or bhatura) offered a different pleasure--light, puffed, and faintly reminiscent of an unsweetened funnel cake. Its airy structure absorbs sauce beautifully while remaining crisp. The aloo paratha, stuffed with potato, proved denser and more ponderous. The texture is exactly as advertised, yet among the three it felt least complementary to the evening's selections and is the one I would be least inclined to reorder. In sum, the kitchen's strengths--particularly in the curries and the more successful breads--outweigh the occasional missteps in beverage and minor kitchen details. For a first encounter with the cuisine, the experience was both instructive and, in its best moments, genuinely rewarding.
