Great experience from the estimate to the completed roof. Hired Simon because he seemed like the most knowledgeable of the companies I got estimates from. I wanted the owner and person who did the estimate to be involved in the actual project, and he was. He advised us on aspects of the roof, and we were very happy with the results. Also, put in two sun tunnels, which we love. Considering also installing an attic fan, and will call Simon Says to do the work. read more

Amazing roofers! I got 5 bids and their bid was the best overall. His quote had the most detail, options and specifics. The other bids had 3 or 4 lines and not much explanation of what it was for replacement of the roof. I didn't feel like he was trying to upsell me at all. His price included the city permit and he also set up the city inspections. His price was in the middle of all the quotes I received. The workers were on time and left everything clean every day. He finished the job in 4 days. I love the new roof and gutters. He also guarantees workmanship for15 years!! No one else offered that. I highly recommend Darryl. read more

Simon Says Roofing - Added 4 inch cricket to the hog valley that was pooling - Roofing Near Me - San Jose, California

As every homeowner would do, I went out to bid with 4 other roofing contractors receiving 2 quotes via text, and 2 via email with very little "scope of work" details/breakdown on what my quote covers. With that said- I've known the Simon family over 15+years, so I decided to ask "Simon Says Roofing" for a quote. I called Darryl and asked if would give me a quote which he was happy to do. Darryl was very clear from the beginning that he does everything legit, which I said that's why I'm calling you. I wanted a permit pulled and 2 out of the 4 contractors were not going to pull a permit. For most (if not all) as homeowners we want the planned work done right, at a reasonable cost, and try to stay within our planned budget. Simon Says Roofing came in with a slammed dunk quote with all the details I was hoping to see. I even was educated on roofline venting, and O'Hagin vents, which has made a huge difference in my home since my new roof was installed in May-2025. The best for last! Simon Says Roofing was not only awarded my house he also was awarded my neighbor's house at the same time- combined 3,400sf between both homes. Day of demo. 2 sperate crews arrived 1 for my house, and 1 for my neighbor's house- hence the race was on between both crews to see who would finish 1st. I was told it was it was going to take them 4-5 days to complete the work, but amazingly both homes were done in 3-days. WOW- my neighbor and I were amazed on the professionalism of Darrly crews, and how well they maintain a cleanness of the surrounded floors in both homes. Awesome work Simon Says Roofing. I would highly recommend you guys to anyone who ask me for a referral. Love Rodriguez Familia, read more

Summary: Good quality work, reasonable pricing We needed dry rot repair above the garage door, since the previous owner had removed the basketball hoop and never repaired that section. After talking to several roofing companies and Daryl (owner) from Simon Says Roofing we decided to go with his company for several reasons: 1) he seemed very honest and down to earth guy 2) he gave reasonable quote and after some negotiation matched the quote from other company 3) he was able to accommodate us within his schedule, since we needed the work to be done quickly The work was done very professionally and in a timely manner. He had 3 guys working on the project for half a day. They repaired the dry rot and considering that the roof is ~20 year old roof they were able to replace damaged area with very similar shingles (you can't tell the difference unless you know exactly the area). Besides that they installed 2 solar powered attic fans, new heat jacks, pipe jacks to the entire house and painted them to match the roof. Both Travis (at the office) and Daryl (the owner) were a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend working with this company. P.S: We had some really heavy rains recently and there were no leaks in any of the areas where they have worked, nevertheless they gave us 2 years of workmanship guarantee. read more

Responsive, professional, affordable, great service support. There is a reason they are diamond certified.

I called them to make an appointment for my roof repair, but they never come and never answer my call back.

I had a great experience with Simon Says Roofing. We got re-roofing done in 3 days. The crew was great and cleaned the site after the job. I mentioned over the phone that I wanted OSB with radiant barrier but forgot to mention it in the contract. I changed it on the day of the project and they kind enough to accommodate it. Their quote was probably the most honest one I received. There were no additional hidden fees like permit cost, downspout cost etc etc. I would highly recommend their services. read more

I had Daryl Simon's guys redo my house roof prior to installing a solar system, and am extremely happy with the results. The crew led by Felix turned up exactly on time each day, and worked unbelievably hard out in the record 117 degrees heat-wave. In conditions that would have had me wilting within 10 minutes, these guys cheerfully worked their butts off. They were detail oriented, very responsive to any & all questions I had, and were unfailingly polite. I did find that it took slightly longer than expected to get the initial quote etc. from Simon Says. I mention this not to criticize Damari (who handles the bookings etc., as she was probably just very busy that week), but rather to encourage you to be a little patient if necessary - because the results are well worth it. read more

We chose SimonSays based on our meeting with Darryl, a very competitive bid, and his ability to get the precise composite shingles we wanted when other roofers told us they weren't easily available. Darryl's team did our roof and our neighbors roof at the same time, and did top-flight work. The new roof looks great; we're very happy customers. Also a shout out to Damari in the office who has always been super responsive to our questions. You should have no hesitancy hiring this firm--they do fine work, and deliver excellent customer support. read more

Last Fall, I was in need of a new roof on a rental house that I own in Morgan Hill. I spent considerable time researching roofers because I am retired and manage my own properties, even though I live about 350 miles from them. Bottom line--I wanted to be assured the job would be done right--without any complications that might surface later. After multiple bids, I selected Simon Says roofing. The company guaranteed its workmanship for 15 years! It is a family owned and run, by Darryl, the owner. Also, he's designated as a "Select Shingle Master" by the shingle manufacturer I wanted to use. The job was done in the manner promised, and he even went above and beyond by painting those facia boards and eve sheathings that needed to be replaced. He used the actual paint that I used on the rest of the house. Subsequently, I have used him again to replace a worn-out garage roof on another property that I own in Gilroy. Because I was so comfortable with SimonSays on the first job I did not take the time to get other bids. That job too, went smoothly. To my surprise he enhanced (at no cost to me) the category of the manufacturer's warranty. This is not something I was not expecting. read more

Darryl, Travis and their whole team are awesome, a few years ago I had to replace my roof and decided after researching to go with Simon. They did an excellent job from start to finish. We put ridge vents Certainteed TPL Presidential Shingles, OSB Plywood, new gutters, etc. last week I found a small leak and called them on a Friday. Due to severe rain this year my roof was damaged and the interior of my house was getting water damaged. I contacted many roofing companies but none were able to put me on the books right away. I came across Simon Says Roofing and they were able to come fix the roof/leak the following day. Thanks to them none of my valuables inside were damaged. They worked very efficiently and with professionalism. The gentleman who took my call named Travis was very helpful and patient. Travis was able to walk me through the steps and assured me good quality work. If I ever in the future need any kind of roofing work I know who to contact. Thank you Simon Says Roofing :) read more

After 25 years of existence, we had to replace our improperly constructed roof with a new one: repairing the dry-rotted overhangs, adding flashing, insulation, gutter, and downspout, and installing new roofing material. My husband obtained at least 7 proposals from roofing contractors to have the roof replaced, 2 of whom either did not return our calls or missed their appointments! However, out of all the quotes we received, one company stood out to us in regards to service: Simon Says Roofing. We didn't make our decision purely based on price, but the overall experience and package offered. It was also important to us that unlike most of their competitors, they are a family-run business. We were extremely pleased with the responsiveness of Darryl from Simon Says. He stopped by the house to provide the initial estimate and returned again to answer follow up questions and drop off samples. Very professional. The crew we got was hard working, courteous, and completed the work in 1-1/2 days. We were also very impressed with how spotless our yard was after the job was completed. Overall, we have no hesitation in recommending their quality of work and fair pricing. read more

When I found out I needed a new roof, the first contractor I thought of was Simon. I'm so glad I called them, because the service and quality of their work was as impressive on this big job as it had been replacing the diverter earlier. I contacted half-a-dozen roofers and Darryl Simon was the only one who both responded and said he did mobile homes. (Two didn't respond at all.) While the offer was higher than I'd expected, it still seemed reasonable and work was done exactly when and how he said it would be. The people were all very pleasant and even did some extra work on the fly to prevent a leak around our carport for a nominal fee. read more

Cement tile roof, that perhaps will last 50 years needs maintenance. Having several tiles that suffered breaks, and with the overall integrity of the roof suffering, I requested a roof maintenance effort/quote. The inspection yielded dozens and dozens of tiles in need of replacement. With a fair quote in hand, the work was agreed and scheduled. The effort consisted of replacing all cracked or broken tiles, including install of new 30 lbs felt paper (only) where needed, install sealant, tape and flashing as needed. Additionally, clean all valley area and the entire gutter system to allow for more efficient water drainage. The crew were professional, skilled and efficient. read more

My parents house, roof and gutter were very very old and need to be replace right away. My neighbor highly recommended Simon Says Roofing, who did their roof ~ 2016. Called Simon Says Roofing, set up appointment with Darryl for quote. Date of appointment, Darryl took the measurements, provided options, recommendations and fair price quote. We was very pleased with his expertise, honesty, recommendations and also the job he did for our neighbor. Installation of new roof and gutter, the team arrived on time, did an excellent / top quality job from the beginning to the end. Also did a wonderful job keeping the site clean through the tear down, repair, installation and after the job was done. After experience "ok" to "good" service from other providers, we were expecting more of the same from Darryl and his crew at Simon Says Roofing. However, they ended up blowing our socks off! First, their bids for various projects were on the low end. Now, that doesn't always mean that's the final price....I have found it generally is the starting point. Also, a super low estimate would scare me...I would worry about quality or shortcuts. Not a problem with Simon Says. They do an excellent job for an excellent price. Now....that is all very good.....but not "blow your socks off" stuff. After a move, we called Darryl to give us a consult on our new house's roof. He said it was just fine...and would last for some time. Great news for the financially stretched new home owner. We also asked him to give us an estimate for leaf guards on the gutters. He asked us a few questions....and then gave us the estimate. THEN he said he would recommend we NOT do it. He said that given the shorter time we planned to own the house that it simply didn't make financial sense. When does that?! Only a guy with integrity who is looking out for his customer's best interests as opposed to his own. After our great experience with Darryl, we asked him to give a quote on a new roof for my parent's home. My parents are very elderly, live on a tight fixed income, but live in an insanely expensive area. Vendors often look at the address and automatically charge a higher price. Darryl's estimate for 5000 square feet of roof came in $10K lower than the next best estimate! The work was done quickly and cleanly. My parents are now ready for El Nino! read more

I'm a real estate agent in San Francisco and recently represented a buyer in San Jose for the purchase of a single family home. During our home inspection by a contractor, we discovered that the roof needed some repairs: replacement of 25 concrete tiles, straighten existing tiles, remove and install new trim board, install new felt paper and metal flashing's, install new seamless gutters and downspouts, and so on. It wasn't a large job, but I sent out several requests for repair estimates. Darryl quickly responded to my request and sent me a detailed proposal, something I like to see. And his cost estimate seemed very good for the amount of work to be completed. Darryl called me shortly after my client awarded him the job and said he could complete the job prior to his original proposal date. Of course this made both my client and I very happy, as a big storm was moving in. Darryl completed the job in 2 days, to the client's satisfaction, and before the big storm. I also inspected the work and found it to be well done. After the first good downpour, we checked for leaks and found none. Darryl was great to work with, very accommodating, and I would definitely recommend Simon Says Roofing. read more

Looks like SSR has plenty of good reviews...but here's another. SSR was recommended by my general contractor to replace my mother's roof of her 50+ year old split level home. They took our project on right before a big storm in March of 2016 (right after the drought--should done it last year. You live, you learn.) The guys showed up on time, worked until well after 6pm and cleaned up at the end of each day. [The latter is a big deal. I didn't even think of asking about this until a friend who used a different roofer ended up with nails, bits of waste and other sharp objects in the grass; they may have to replace the sod to ensure nobody get's injured using the backyard while not wearing shoes.] SSR finished before the storm, were very responsive to any questions or calls, and the roof looks beautiful. Many thanks to their entire team! read more

Just got our brand-new roof with Simon Says Roofing. It is beautiful! Not only did they have upgrade options not available with the three other roofers who gave me estimates, but Darryl's estimate was spot-on and thousands of dollars cheaper. Since our old roof was deteriorating shakes, I was concerned that their would be a big mess with demo. The roofers did an excellent job cleaning up each day, and I haven't found a single shake or nail on the ground yet. They arrived very early each day and got the job done right on schedule. Simon Says Roofing is someone I would recommend in a heartbeat. Darryl Simon was completely forthcoming from the start and did exactly as I asked. His workmanship and honesty was second to none and couldn't have asked for a better experience. I had gone through 10 bids where I felt that all the other roofers were just telling me what I wanted to hear (bascially blowing smoke), but felt completely different with Darryl Simon (he was honest and didn't blow smoke, he told me exactly what he could or couldn't do). Honestly was what won the bid in this case. I would again use Darryl and have already recommended him to friends and neighbors, I am certain that they will all be as satisfied with Simon Says Roofing as I was. read more

Simon Says Roofing is far too good a business to have so few reviews on Yelp so here y'all go. First of all, many roofing companies in Silicon Valley - I contacted 4-5 - won't even touch roof repairs. They want to install new roofs for $15-$17,000 a piece. So my first compliment to Darryl Simon at Simon Says is that he understood that although my roof was old, I couldn't afford a new roof and he was willing to work with what budget I had. I would say that if you need repairs and don't want to be sold a new roof, just call Darryl Simon and don't bother with anyone else. He was responsive on the phone; came over that day; his workers were friendly and clean; they completed the job quickly and thoroughly and - this is the best part - he somehow matched my old, tired, gray shingles with new ones that were exactly the same color so my roof looks like he wasn't even there. How did he do that? I wanted to kiss him! Great job on every level! read more

I had to replace a portion of my roof since the overhang was not enough. Talked to Darryl and got the job done. He was very professional and did a great job. It all started when we decided to go solar. While the roof looked sort of ok, a couple solar estimators have suggested the second story roof may have rotten plywood and if the roof is old enough it might be a good idea to replace it before installing solar panels so that we won't need to take down the panels and reinstall them if we need to replace the roof a few years down the road. I looked up permits on our house and realized the roof is 23 years old - so replacement certainly made sense. Also, by doing the solar and roof replacement at the same time, we could keep the roof warranty - more below. So I went on yelp and contacted about 5 roofers with the best reviews for the estimates. A lot of them were very nice guys, explaining the process thoroughly, and overall providing excellent customer service. Simultaneously, I did my research online for the materials and determined that most reviewers on forums and blogs favor CertainTeed Landmark over GAF Timberland: CertainTeed shingles are thicker, the company stands behind their warranty, there is no variation in colors between batches, so if we need to replace a spot in the future it will be the same color, etc. This decision immediately eliminated a couple of estimates I've received from companies that were only installing GAF, but their estimates still gave me a baseline for comparison. So I asked the solar companies I was interviewing at the same time for more roofers referrals and boy am I glad I did, because one of them referred me to Simon Says! I am surprised Simon Says has so few reviews on Yelp, because he does a lot of work together with a large solar installer, and he is also a ShingleMaster - the highest seal of approval CertainTeed gives to its installers. So Simon is able to offer a 5-star warranty - that means that even if Darryl Simon (the owner) closes shop - i.e. moves out of state in a couple of years (no such plans - I'm just thinking through all possible scenarios) and something goes wrong with the roof, CertainTeed will pay labor and materials for another roofer to fix the problem. That's what we ended up getting btw - a 5-star warranty, but the catch is - it was a few thousand dollars less than other estimates we received from other installers who weren't using premium materials required by the 5-star warranty. I understand that Darryl Simon has no big storefront office or shiny marketing materials, but it also lets him save on operating costs and he is able to pass on those savings to consumer (me) - I like it, my budget likes it. Another thing I liked - Darryl has given me upgrade options of shingles from regular Landmark to Pro and Premium practically at cost. I still went for the basic ones because we are satisfied with their look and the warranty is the same, but I appreciated the fact that Simon was not up-marking the materials like other companies did. Another thing I appreciated - Darryl found a spot in his schedule for me (two weeks out vs. 2-3 months out the large companies with lots of yelp reviews quoted me) and kept it even though it took me another week to finalize my decision on the solar company before signing up with Simon Says. This was important, once again, because only if the roofer and solar installer work together, can we keep our warranty: if the solar folks install the panel mounts and flash it over the roof, it voids the warranty. In the end, I couldn't be happier. My roof is beautiful, the solar mount flashing was done properly thanks to Darryl's crew cooperating with solar installers, the job was done in 5 days, they covered our pool and artificial grass with plastic at no extra cost and cleaned up after themselves, the inspection was passed quickly and painlessly. Thank you Darryl! read more
