I realize that dining in NYC and Boston have absolutely spoiled me. By my urban standards there was nothing too special about this food. We started off with a smoked fish plate for appetizer which was so-so. Nothing I couldn't buy and put together from my local Whole Foods. Nice touch was the array of fresh parsley, dill, etc on the side. Other than that, it was an undescript tasting of 2 smoked salmons and a trout. Next up was a Frisee salad... cider vinagerette, apples, smoked bacon, and fresh VT cheddar. It was wonderful and exactly what one would anticipate from a local dining experience. My boyfriend tried a lamb special for his main course. While elegantly served, it was topped in potato chips. The lamb and its tomato-based creme sauce were delicious but where on earth did the idea for toping it with chips come from?! I went with the venison.. as this is somewhat hard to come by in Boston. I wasn't immediately impressed by the sauce but the meet was very tender... and upon finishing my leftovers today, I found that after having sat in its juices overmnight it was much tastier. To boot, there was a piece of venison meatloaf on top. YUMMY! However, the best part of the meal was the desert... some apricot caramel breadpudding concoction with white chocolate ice cream. I thought I died and went to dessert heaven. The restaurant also features a very extensive wine list, which we did not delve far enough into to comment. Aside from the bread pudding, what I would say makes this a definitely do-not-miss experience is the ambiance. As everyone wrote below, sitting aside the falling water is beautiful. As well as all the handmade glass and flatware. However, it is not just these details but the entire restaurant that is charming, with its wooden floors, walls and ceilings. An absolutely perfect romantic evening. read more

i think my bookmark note sums it up best - watch glass blow, drop mad dough. the simon pearce store is quite an experience and i definitely recommend stopping in for an hour or so if you are in the area. the mill building is beautifully updated and powers itself with a hydroelectric plant that you can see downstairs. also downstairs you can watch artisans create the pottery and glassware that is for sale upstairs. when i was there, a 2 man team was creating champagne flutes and it really is a spectacular process. those champagne flutes are $65. each. sometimes when i'm in a crate & barrel i'll jokingly offer anyone with me $5 to "stumble" in to a stack of glasses or throw one at the stand-alone displays carnival-style. (i'm pretty sure you could get away with it.) i did not do that here. the craftsmanship of the glass, pottery, and woodwork here is beautiful. the standards are exacting. the quality is excellent. did i mention that one champagne flute is $65? it does not come filled with champagne. i asked. read more

If you love their Glassware, you will like the food. Simon Pearce has a stunning location that is attached to their retail storefront in downtown Quechee. The view of sitting above the falls, is really stunning, and the glass and dinnerware doesn't hurt the experience either. We like going here, whenever we are in the area. It is usually a safe choice for an eating experience. However, like anything at Simon Pearce.. it ain't cheap. ;) read more

Beautiful location, nice selection of menu options and our party of four all have wonderful meals! I had supposedly one of their signature dinners which was the horseradish crusted cod and it was excellent, very subtle horseradish flavor, almost non existent, setting on top of herb mashed potatoes, with a delicious sauce. I would definitely recommend it. My husband had the Braised Short Rib of Beef and loved it. My friend ordered the Arugula, Squash and Farro salad which I tried and would highly recommend as well, and three of us had to try their Vermont Cheddar Soup which we were all raving about! Wonderful meal and great service too. read more

Meh I was so severely underwhelmed by this restaurant. Simon Pearce is a popular choice for fine dining in the Upper Valley area. Having heard a ton of really amazing things about this place, I was really expecting this place to be awesome, but the food ended up being okay. The view is admittedly pretty spectacular, but all in all, it's fine and pricey and I probably would not return. Let's talk about the pros first. The view here is gorgeous. If you get to sit on a window seat, you're overlooking a beautiful waterfall in Quechee. It's stunning. Come at sunset and you can see the sunlight refract off of the waterfall. That's pretty great. The food however left a bit more to be desired. Service was alright though on the slower side, though our food came out pretty quickly. I ordered a swordfish which came with the most bitter broccoli rabe I've ever had. Broccoli rabe is admittedly supposed to be bitter, but I think with effective blanching and cooking it can be made to be a bit more bearable. This one was not so bearable. The swordfish chunk was a generous portion but honestly just didn't taste like anything. It was moist but bland. The herbs weren't really rubbed into the fish... they were just on top of the fish. Meh. Just underwhelming in general. To be fair, I probably messed up with my ordering. I had a bite of a quiche my friend had which was pretty good. The swordfish and the dish itself wasn't bad... it just wasn't anything amazing and from a fine dining experience, it just wasn't all that delicious which is my quip with the place. tldr; fancy restaurant with beautiful views, but there are some other "fine dining" places I'd rather spend my money on in the Upper Valley read more

Outstanding Dining in Scenic Quechee My family makes a point to stop by Simon Pearce for at least dinner and possibly also brunch when in the area. Truth be told, we probably visit the area as often as we do because we know we can dine here. Located in Quechee, Simon Pearce is easily accessible from major neighboring points of White River Junction, Lebanon, West Lebanon, and Hanover. Overlooking the waterfall and covered bridge, the views from the restaurant are breathtaking especially at sunset. Located above the glassworks and adjacent to the shop, you will enjoy seeing all of the amazing handmade glassware. You can even see the craftsmen blow the glass downstairs. Simon Pearce offers unique takes on traditional New England and Irish cuisine. This most recent time, my wife and I had dinner on a Saturday night. It did not disappoint. My wife started with the kale caesar salad which was outstanding. The kale was very fresh as were the croutons. I had the cheese plate with selections of local hard and soft raw cow cheeses. It was fantastic, served with biscuits, crackers, almonds, and fresh honey. In between the appetizers we indulged in the traditional Irish brown bread and fresh butter. My wife had the slow roasted duck with red rice and mango chutney. It was amazing. Cooked just right, to the point of the duck being confit. I had the green tea brined salmon with pink lentils and roe. It was also perfect. For dessert, we had the apple tart tatin which was served warm with vanilla ice cream and salty caramel sauce (all made in house). We wish had had ordered two of these but it's probably best that we did not! We have always had amazing meals at Simon Pearce and the tradition continues! read more

You go to Simon Pearce for the view. The food makes the drive where you got lost in the dark on narrow, curvy VT roads worth it. (However, when you get lost on your way back to your hotel because it's still dark and you have no GPS reception, you may have a moment of questioning your choice. Regardless...) The dining room is beautiful and serene. It's built so you feel as though you are almost suspended on top of the river below. The best tables are the ones with the view of the water, obviously. The food is equal to the atmosphere. Like so many businesses we encountered in VT, Simon Pearce is a big supporter of other VT businesses. You will see Cabot and King Arthur, among other local favorites, featured prominently on the menu. I ordered a beef entree and realized at the end of the meal, I hadn't needed the steak knife provided. The bread was delicious; we asked for more. Dessert was solid, but not earth shattering. Service was unobtrusive but almost always attentive. The night we dined here, it was very quiet and only a few tables were taken. I don't know if it was the day of the week, the season, the time, or something else. Our experience was very quiet, calm, and laid back. It was a great place to linger over coffee with a friend after a fantastic meal. If you're in the area, it should be on your itinerary. read more

Wow! Very cool restaurant inside a glass making shop. You can walk around and see glass items being made and they are available for purchase. Though they're quite expensive-not sure if it's worth buying. They also have a hydroelectric plant in the basement that draws power from the damn. Pretty incredible how much they allow you to walk around. The food was ok, very pricy for what it was. I may come back for the ambiance. read more

We just LOVED this place. We had lunch here and totally enjoyed the experience. The food and atmosphere were wonderful. Definitely worth the trip. Our waitress was not terribly friendly, (actually, nancy was rather grumpy....) but she got the job done...so we cannot complain too much. Try the crab&cod cake and the lamb burger. Both are to die for! Desserts are wonderful...the strawberry/rhubarb tart is marvelous, as is the chocolate bread pudding. We just loved the view and we saw a blue heron on the water too. The art work within is lovely. Although, I must admit that all of the patrons look as though they just stepped out of an LL Bean catalogue....FYI...Lunch is first come, first serve...no reservations unless more than a party of 8. I want to go back for dinner! read more

Very nice dining room. As suggested by others on Yelp, I had the Vermont Cheddar soup. It was delicious. I also had a salad and it was out of this world. This place is a little pricey, but well worth it for an outstanding view right over the dam and looking at the covered bridge which was badly damaged during Hurricane Irene. You can see videos on You Tube of the water swirling around the restaurant and crshing over the bridge. There was A LOT of water! Glad the restaurant made it through. I definitely also enjoyed the glass blowing in the basement. I believe this was the first weekend the glass blowers were back since the storm. The basement was filled with water and had to be cleaned up. read more

Why had I never had sunday brunch here before? I thought I was in heaven when I tasted the creme brulee french toast with cinnamon apple compote- generous portions, light, fluffy w/ slightly crunchy edges- absolutely perfect in every way. And why was I surprised that the food was, as always, phenomenal? This is the one restaurant in the country that is a destination restaurant for me...I usually drive 2 hours just to have a bowl on their Vermont Cheddar Soup. Ok, so sometimes, I make an excuse to drop by if I'm driving through Vermont somewhere but still. In any case, phenomenal food + beautiful views + gorgeous glass and pottery + friendly service = my favorite restaurant. read more

Maybe the best kept secret in New England is not that Simon Pearce has a restaurant, but that it's even better than the awards and accolades that it receives. On V-Day, the $48 per person 3 course dinner was truly a treat. The food on the menu sounds good, but the execution is beyond what I could expect, just pure perfection. The view over the waterfall and the excellent friendly service and wonderful wine list only adds to the magic. The amazing view as well as the amazing food live up to the ultra high standards of Simon Pearce and do it justice. read more

My partner and I come here for brunch on weekends. The food is amazing! I typically get a cup of the cheddar soup and for my entree I usually get the country fried steak. My g/f has had the duck confit, omelette with sea salt and ricotta. Typically what she raves about is their French toast. The portion is so large that she has to get a box. The iced tea is extremely addicting. It is a tea infused with apricot. Always my choice of beverage. The view is very pretty, being able to see the Quechee bridge and falls. We usually peruse around and check out some of the glass blown products after dining, I really like this place! read more

This is the most beautiful restaurant I've ever been too! It's part of the Simon Peace glass store and factory. We had a bit of a wait so we spent time browsing and even going downstairs to the workroom to watch the glassware being made. When our buzzer went off we were so happy. The restaurant itself is small, but it overlooks the Quechee dam and it is absolutely beautiful. I got the short rib stew (a special) which was amazing) My wife loved her crab cakes. Both came with a green salad with a delicious vinaigrette. The staff was super friendly and never rushed us. Just a great time. I shall return. read more

Simon Pearce - Salmon! - New American Near Me - Quechee, Vermont

Food, ambience and service were excellent. The Halibut was delicious! Highly recommend

Had a great brunch at Simon Pearce. The breakfast side of the menu is small, but all the dishes offered looked pretty good. My husband and I each did soup and salad and everything was great - simple and delicious flavors. (Yes, the cheddar soup lived up to the yelp reviews that had me salivating!) Large selection of brunch cocktails as well. After eating you can shop in the attached retail space, which has an incredibly large selection to choose from, including an "outlet" section in the back where you can get one-offs for a more reasonable price. (And yes, you do feel like you've entered the Deep South Glass shop from Sweet Home Alabama, as they actually used Simon Pearce's stuff! Just missing Josh Lucas!) Can't wait to return! read more

There's a common thread between Simon Pearce's housewares and his lovely restaurant in Quechee, VT. In both, you'll find simple, tasteful, high quality ingredients with New England charm. I've been for lunch a couple of times. Most recently, I brought my BF and his mom the Sunday after Christmas. We started with the Vermont cheddar soup - deliciously cheesy but not overpowering. I had a chicken sandwich with roasted red peppers on a baguette with an orzo salad. BF had a nicely seasoned lamb burger. His mom had a slice of salmon and red onion quiche with mixed greens. She wasn't jazzed about the chunks of salmon (versus small pieces throughout), but still enjoyed it. The setting is charming and the store is definitely worth wandering around. I'd imagine that even if you're not into the housewares, the glassblowing demonstration downstairs is worth a visit. If for no other reason than to learn a cleaner definition of the word 'glory hole'. read more

I don't know what to say about this place that hasn't already been written. I feel like you've absolutely got to eat here and just enjoy the incredible food and the incredible view of the waterfall running under a covered bridge - how very Vermont. My dinner was the incredible Vermont cheese soup (which if you don't get, you must clearly hate yourself), the duck confit lo mein, my girlfriend had the sesame chicken, and to finish things off a nice creme brûlée. Everything was superb and the wait staff was incredible. I'd go back in a millisecond if it weren't a couple thousand miles away from me. They support OpenTable for anybody who likes using it in NYC. read more

It's really bad that we are here for the fall colors and we had reservations last weekend and they canceled us maybe bc of covid. Then they made our reservations for the next weekend and a person called at 4:00 pm to cancel our reservations for Friday night again. They knew they were having problems and it left us high and dry for the last reservations we could get. Just really dissatisfied and they should have told us a week ago that we couldn't eat there. So if your are looking to eat here I suggest you have a back up plan. And that's not fair to that restaurant either. We have been to Vermont 3 times and this has never happened. But they knew last week that they would not open this weekend. Some more notice would have been nice. ‍ read more

I love Simon Pearce, both as a brand, and now as a restaurant. The service was exceptional, and we felt welcome and comfortable. Every part of the dining experience counts towards the entire outcome to me, and so I appreciated the little things, such as beautiful Simon Pearce glassware on the table. Overall, the ambiance and atmosphere are simply lovely. The food was very good--not exceptional--but extremely tasty. They are a solid 4 stars for food and drink alone. As a bonus, you have a built-in shopping experience pre- or post-dinner. I could browse their gorgeous collection of items for hours. If you are in the area, you'll be missing out if you don't stop here for at least a peek in their shop, but would highly encourage you to not miss out on lunch or dinner, too. read more

Beautiful setting, good service and great food. A perfect combination. I had the Vermont Cheddar soup and it was the best cheddar soup I have ever had. Wonderful flavor and texture. I was a little disappointed when the quiche I ordered ran out before they served mine. The severed did not tell me of the change and I kept trying to find the missing flavors from my ordered quiche. It was only after I finished eating that I was told it was not what I had ordered. It was still good but not what I wanted. Before or after your meal you can go downstairs and watch the glass blowers marking the handmade glassware. Back upstairs you can shop and take a souvenir home with you. If you are in the area Simon Pearce is definitely worth a visit. read more

I had a delicious lunch at Simon Pearce today. Sesame chicken breast must've been cooked sous vide, then rolled in sesame and seasonings and maybe a minute in the salamander. I'm guessing that because the chicken was so tender and juicy. The service was wonderful with a server who's been working there for 23 years. I recalled seeing her from my first visit to Simon Pearce about 16 years ago. Must've made an impression. I had one of the best table viewpoints in the place... right over the falls with a great view down the gorge under the covered bridge. It just doesn't get better than that for a hot summer afternoon. read more

Simon Pearce - Sesame Chicken with a view at Simon Pearce. - New American Near Me - Quechee, Vermont

The restaurant was extremely busy when we visited, no bookings required, so whilst we waited on an available table (they give you a pager) we opted to your the showroom. Quality glassware, all handmade on the premises and you're able to view the process. The price of purchasing some of this stuff is prohibitive ($USD500) for some pieces. It is quality though and will certainly last - unless you drop it :p The restaurant service and food was delicious and we were well looked after. Great range to choose from in food and drinks. It is located right next to the river and there's a covered bridge and a waterfall that goes over the dam wall (created for hydroelectricity). Absolutely picturesque. Recommended as a place to visit. read more

Literally from soup to nuts this place hit the Mark! Came across this fine establishment during a friend of mines wedding. After touring thru there shop we decided to have some dinner which I'm so happy we did. We started with the special pork belly with slaw , was amazing and then the short rib dish needed a little acid or sweetness but was cooked perfectly and flavors gelled very well it just needed that little zing (but still absolutely delicious) , finished with the choc s'more cake cappaccino and expresso's hands down best choc cake I've ever eaten in my life , thank you so much for that. Jenna was our waitress that night and she was very helpful and made great suggestions . I'm In the industry and no great food and appreciate great service very much. And it was so good we went back for lunch I gotten the Korean Bbq chicken with sesame seed noodles a little to many seeds but very yummy ! My wife got the chicken sandwich which was amazing and that bread topped it off so super soft and crispy and fresh another yum ! Forgot the young waitress name she had short hair. But service again was amazing and all staff was very professional and polite from GM to buser I was really amazed and pleased with this place. Simon Pearce ended up as the locale for our honeymoon dinner after stumbling across it while driving through Quechee. After seeing the glassed-in room that sits suspended over the river, waterfall, and nearby covered bridge we immediately wanted a chance to eat there. I called for reservations for that evening, but they were booked. I called back later and got in for the following evening. It was worth the wait. The food was unique and fabulously delicious. We started with a lobster salad atop a toasted brioche -- a combination that I could not quite wrap my head around -- but that worked wonderfully. So light and yet packed with flavor; It tasted like eating summer (as a side note -- Simon Pearce clearly is good with seemingly odd combinations, as the place is not just a restaurant but also a gallery and glass blowing studio). Our entrees were the horseradish encrusted cod and the roasted duckling. Both so good that I could not stop eating, which was actually doable considering that the portion sizes are ample but not super-sized like too many places. Finally the service was delightful. Our server was sweet but unobtrusive. She took a whole bunch of pictures of us with the amazing view of the waterfall in the background. It truly made for a memorable honeymoon weekend. read more

I remember every meal I've ever had at Simon Pearce...this is truly a marvelous dining experience. Gorgeous hand-blown glass work greets you in the foyer and you can wander the showroom or the workshop while you wait for your table. The atmosphere is beautiful (complete with a terrace that overlooks the mill which powers the whole facility), the service is wonderful (servers and sommeliers can educate you about what you're eating and drinking), but the food is really what makes dining here a memorable experience. Every dish is beautifully presented and simply fantastic, complete with depth of flavor and good-quality ingredients that complement each other brilliantly. Standout favorites include the gorgonzola-topped filet mignon I had during my first New Years Eve with my boyfriend five years ago (which I giggled upon biting into, it was so velvety and delicious), and the jaw-droppingly amazing lobster bisque at this NYE (creamy is a pedestrian word for the consistency of this soup). Simon Pearce has become a special-occasion tradition, and never fails to impress. -Lisa (I'm sharing a yelp account with my two band members Patrick and Syd as we tour the country and try to eat and live healthy while we drive thousands of miles in a van. Be prepared for a pricey meal but you get what you pay for. Think Simon Pearce glass pieces and you get my gist. But the food rates 5 stars as it was fresh, full of flavor, and worth the price. My wife and had dinner last night at Simon Pearce on the last leg of our vacation through Quebec City and Vermont. We had booked our reservation through Open Table and had requested table 5 as many reviewer had recommended as the best seat in the house. Be forewarned - only one of you will get the great view of the river and the other will watch water pouring off the roof. My wife started with the cheese soup which she found flavorful and rich and I had the duck leg confit which was crisp, moist and very flavorful- the best I've had. The slaw that I had with it was creamy and tart and paired with the duck perfectly. The had run out of the pan seared scallop appetizer and the swordfish entree (I'll never fault a restaurant for running out of fresh fish). My wife had the salmon and I had the pan fried filet mignon. Both were cook to proper temperature and the local vegetables were nicely selected and prepared. We decided to share desert, but at this point the last half hour of dinner became uncomfortable. We welcomed the no cellphone policy, yet 2 tables down decided FaceTime was appropriate. We could no longer hear each other. They had asked the next table to sing a Marilyn Monroe version of Happy Birthday followed by a religious political conversation. At this point we quickly asked our server for check. The hostess asked us about our experience and we were honest. read more

My boyfriend and I came to Vermont to escape the city for a bit. It's a really beautiful state and we saw cows and stuff, but there's nothing really to do...We were told by the hotel concierge that there were a bunch of shops located about 30 minutes north of Cavendish (where our hotel was)...To our dismay, the shops were just one or two galleries and some offices..We then drove by a huge parking lot full of cars and it turns out that everyone was here for the Simon Pearce Glass Blowing exhibit and the gorge. On the first level, half of the store sells the glassware made on premises. They're very good quality but very expensive. A wine glass can cost about $100. It's got to be one of those expensive stores that people never consistently shop at when they're in NYC. However, in Vermont, there were tons of people there on a Sunday afternoon. If money wasn't an issue, the pieces were very beautiful and good quality. The store has a free exhibit at the lower level where you can watch the creation of the glasses. There is also a pottery exhibit and you can make your own shapes from the clay provided. I made a little kitty and a cupcake. The restaurant on the first floor overlooked the gorge. It was a beautiful view. The food, on the other hand, was so-so. (We got the Sesame Seared Chicken and the Shepherd's Pie.) Beautiful location. Love that they have free projects to engage visitors. Everything is way overpriced though. read more

We have enjoyed going to the Simon Pearce restaurant for years. So many delicious meals though one of my favorites is the Lamb burger. Most recently we arrived never needing to make reservations for lunch as they didn't take them pre-COVID. We had so been looking forward to lunch @ Simon Pearce, and when I asked for a table I was told they didn't have any tables available and that we needed a reservation. I think Nick the host saw my very disappointed face, and he said he would if they could accommodate us. He asked a few waitress and then Dawn our waitress said she would be happy to fit us in. It meant a lot to us as we were finally going to have the opportunity to enjoy, relax and take in the holiday season, and we had another fabulous meal @ Simon Pearce. Thank you Nick & Dawn. read more
