This was our 2nd time blowing glass, the first with Terrapin. Dom and Kristina were fantastic instructors! Very excited to see how our friendship balls come out. We will be back again for a level 2 soon.

Yes. Yes, the class prices are very reasonable. Yes, it's well run and organized, even with a big group. Yes, it's a unique experience that was universally enjoyed by our span from teenage to 70. Planned a bachelorette activity here and had a great time! Registering was easy, showed up a little late but they ushered us right in, through the video demo and we were right in there handling hot glass! The staff was super upbeat which made a huge difference in our 2 hour time slot. We were able to serve some snacks and change clothes in their facility for the next stage of our adventure (Cathedral of the Pines and Monadnock Inn for dinner- also add these to your list). They have a wide variety of items for sale which make lovely gifts for special occasions. The other reviews are correct that there's no space for nonsense here- but hello, this can be dangerous! They were very open to questions and kept our group moving through without feeling rushed. Give it a try!

This place came up so I sent an inquiry in the summer. The response was so quick and I immediately scored a date and time for my kid's birthday for the fall. Thank you, Eve! They are not in downtown/main strip of Salem but that's perfect because they have own parking lot. Everyone had a blast at the pendant making class. Even the parents asked how I came up with this idea. They listed a few packages online and I settled with fused glass pendant. It lasted for two hours (1.5 hours to go over safety demo and making of the product(s), and remaining for snacks, cake etc. Ben was amazing with the kids! We had ten minutes left and he gave the kids a quick flame torch demo. Although I selected fused glass pendant class, the kids were able to make magnet, keychain, earrings. Thank you for extra options. The school was equipped with first aid kit. One thing I would suggest is to have more than 2 pairs of kids gloves. Or make this as a requirement like the goggles. NSGS accepts all forms of payment - Venmo, cash, credit card or check. Check out their awesome class offerings online or their Facebook page. Highly recommended and I would go back! The bathroom is in the back. A small fridge is available so don't bring a huge cake. Our ice cream cake did not melt in our cooler so that's an option.

We did two classes so far, neither teacher was great. The glass blowing class was super hands-off. We only got to actually manipulate the glass 3 times for the cost we paid. The flameworking class was better, but we moved too fast and I don't think I took away any skills outside of just having a generic overview of it. If I went back tomorrow, I probably will have forgotten anything I got from it last weekend.

Both the Center for Crafts and New Street GlassWorks are affiliated with Worcester State University. The New Street GlassWorks is equipped with a glass furnace that keeps 400 pounds of clear glass melted and ready for instant red-hot use. Three "glory holes" are cranked up as needed for glassblowers making use of the hot shop. There's also a cold shop, a mold shop, a flat shop, six rental studios and a flame working studio. The cost for our class was very reasonable (about 80$) and it was a fun way to spend a Friday night with friends. Our instructors were Caitlin , Emory and Ian. After a quick safety lesson, description of the tools and equipment, Caitlin got to work demonstrating what we would soon be doing ourselves. They regularly reminded us about safety because of how easy it is to get burned. If you are not careful with molten glass heated to about 2000 it isn't hard to see how you could get burned given how closely you are while were working with the materials. We had two options; we could make a colored beer stein with a handle or we could make a clear beer stein with a green shamrock. I decided on the clear beer stein since I didn't want a handle and I thought it would be cooler to have a clear glass to see my beer in. I went first and I was paired with Emory as my instructor and assistant. Emory had a great personality and immediately put me at ease. He made the process both fun and informative. I am absolutely going to take another class here and can't wait for my next experience.

I booked a 2 hr Private Glassblowing session, and YES, it is worth the money. First, Mark set up the appointment and was very accommodating throughout the whole thing. Dan was our guide and instructor. He was AMAZING!! Both of us had almost no, or no experience at all with this, and it is such a detailed process with many steps, but Dan reviewed it with us ahead of time, and guided us appropriately the whole way. He loosened his guiding hold when he could sense we had it, or put an extra hand on when he knew we didn't, haha. He even let us go into it with novel ideas, and really let us explore. In the end, our vessels came out absolutely beautiful. Similar, but different in subtle ways. The perfect pairing for us two as partners in love. Thank you so much for this special, unique, unusual, and transformative experience. We would love the opportunity to go again sometime.
