Beautiful setting with water views and charming ambiance. Best Bloody Mary in years. Delicious food overall ... especially the calamari and quiche. Fish and chips tasty, but oily. Bread was great! And, oysters deserve special mention - yum. I thought our server, although efficient, seemed ambivalent and not overly welcoming (but maybe was having a bad day). On the other hand, the fellow that greeted us on arrival and took us to our table was full of positive energy and quite enthusiastic regarding the restaurant's romantic setting. Nice lunch.

We wanted to come for the falling water view but when we made the reservations, it stated that we could not request where to sit. So we took our chance that a late afternoon lunch would afford such a chance. Alas, no. Our reservation at 2:30 had us sitting by a window that just overlooked a stream. Maybe I should have asked. Anyway, the service and food were excellent. I had the lamb shoulder which just melted in my mouth. The meat was so soft. Steak frites with fries also great. Would definitely love to come back and be more assertive about asking for a view since they didn't seem that busy after the lunch rush.

We had such a fantastic meal at Simon Pearce! Well worth the drive to Quechee. Our meal was significantly better thanks to our fantastic server, Suzanne. She was so friendly and kind, and genuinely seemed invested in every single table enjoying what they had ordered. We took her excellent recommendations but just really appreciated her being so nice and attentive! This restaurant has the kind of menu that makes it difficult to choose because everything sounds so good (plus there were seasonal specials we had to take advantage of, too!). The cocktails were excellent- the passionfruit Aperol spritz special was so good that I honestly stuck with it throughout my meal- and the wine list is solid, too. Of course, one of the advantages is getting to enjoy your drinks in some gorgeous Simon Pearce glassware. You will probably be tempted to take home a souvenir! Our food was also outstanding, honestly even better than we expected. We started with the cheese soup (which was incredible) and the Vermont cheeseboard, which was one of the most interesting cheese boards I've ordered at a restaurant. The accoutrements were made in house, including the most unique fennel chutney and some mini scones. The cheese selection was great, and Suzanne was able to advise us on our cheeses based on our preferences. I had the ricotta gnocchi as a main and really enjoyed it, although it definitely felt like more of a spring dish than late summer. You can tell the gnocchi is homemade- it wasn't all quite the same size- and the pasta was light and fluffy. My partner had the braised lamb shoulder, which was tender and flavorful. We split the green salad- even something as simple as a side salad became delicious here. For dessert, we decided to order the caramelized lemon tart, which was an incredible special. It was so perfectly tart that my mouth is watering thinking about it! The crust almost felt and tasted like crème brûlée. Honestly, I hope this is added to the main menu because it was outstanding. We didn't have a view of the falls, but the view from the other room is still lovely. However, it was very, very loud in the room (we had two extremely loud tables, which of course isn't in the restaurant's control)- some sound muffling panels might help with the overall atmosphere. But it didn't detract from an excellent and memorable meal!

I have loved this place for years. I use to go every year for my birthday but haven't been there in over 10 years. They have changed a bit but overall it is still as beautiful as I remember. Walking in you can see the glass that is blown right downstairs. It feels upscale but not pretentious. I didn't feel out of place in normal clothes. We started with the cheddar soup, which is one of the reasons I came. It was good but it wasn't as smooth as i remembered. The bread they serve is delightful dipped into the soup. My ultimate favorite thing is no longer on the menu. It was a lamb burger and it was Devine. So I had to go with something new. I got the sesame chicken with noodle salad. It was very good. It is fresh and flavorful without being overly sweet. Friend 1 got the burger and fries. She couldn't stop eating it. She said it was the best burger she ever had. Friend 2 had the garlic chicken with orzo salad. She loved it as well. The salad wasn't heavy. Overall great. The view is amazing. Do not miss going downsides and seeing the glass blowing in person. One friend was in a wheel chair and was able to get it and down to the glass blowing and then out to see the view which is nice. I already knew the prices were on the higher side and the food is quality so we didn't care. The 1 disappointment was the local soda. It was really delicious but came In at $8 per bottle when at the store in town they are well under $3. This is a must if you are in the area.

We had high expectations as we had been recommended this place. So I booked a lunch there for my Mom's 75th B'day. The check in process was a bit of a mess. I had asked for a nice table as it was my Mom's B'day. They put us by a window which I was thankful for. When the waitress arrived she was not very friendly (did not look happy to be there & just wanted to get the process over with). My veggie Shepards pie was so dry & flavorless. I could have made a better one at home. The top almost seemed burnt . Every one was underwhelmed with their meal. The waitress didn't mention my Mom's birthday once. So the only real pro of the meal was the view. Just very disappointed for this caliber restaurant, especially considering the occasion.

Nice to go your the place and have a meal. Amazing to see the glass blowing and happens all day long which is nice. Went to the restaurant as well. Was pretty good but definitely pricey and food was good but not crazy. Overall had a good experience- nice service and great atmosphere. Enjoyed cheddar soup, calamri, and tar tar.

This is such a lovely place for a special event, though many people may just go for a gourmet dinner out. Always make a reservation as far in advance as possible, because this diamond is always busy. The food is fresh, local and organic to the degree possible, creatively prepared, and artistically presented. The ambiance is exceptionally elegant with warm, rustic woods, wrought iron, and gleaming glass undoubtedly made onsite. The views from the windows are stunning regardless of the time of day or year with views of the Ottauquechee River and the Quechee covered bridge that spans across it. The dining room service is top notch. We didn't use the bar as we spent our pre-dinner time browsing the enclosed store admiring the handmade glass that (during the day) you can watch being made right downstairs. Attire was nice casual (sweaters, skirts/slacks) to casual (fleece vests and flannels in the winter). The food is exceptionally good as are the drink offerings.

If you like fine glass wear, you need to explore this place and the town Woodstock only 13 minutes away. We came up from Boston which is about a 2 hour trip. We stopped here first because we didn't have reservations to eat at Simon Pierce. Guys..., if you like Whistle Pig Bourbon, next door is the Parker Tasting room. Guys you can sip and the girls can shop. Simon Pieces has a great shop, and they also have an area that sells some seconds. You must go down to the basement and watch them blow some glass. When we were there 4 guys were blowing, cool to watch! I ended up purchasing 2 Old Fashioned glasses, they are SOLID! I also bought one of the molds they used, great piece to use in my man cave! They wrapped up the glasses very well so that you can pack in your suitcase. Everyone there was very nice and helpful. This is a Cool day road trip coming from Boston!

Not only can you eat here but there is also a store with their glass creations and an area downstairs to watch the glassblowers at work. The restaurant itself is very nice and the service is always great. Their quiche is fluffy and delicious, the salmon is cooked perfectly and the specials are a nice touch (this time it was the shrimp fried rice - yum!). They serve all their drinks in their beautiful glassware. It's a must if you are in the area!

The restaurant is located in an idyllic New England setting that sets the scene for an excellent meal. The specialty drinks were outstanding, and the food was super yummy. We came for lunch on a Monday and had no trouble with parking. Reservations are a MUST for this place no matter when you plan to visit. The service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant was quiet and we appreciated the use of Simon Pearce glassware in the table settings.

Simon Pearce is the home base of all the Simon Pearce Glass stores. They create amazing glass pieces at this factory. In addition to their glass factory they also have an amazing restaurant as well. We are at the restaurant and had the most amazing meal. For starters we had the parsnip soup which was so velvety good. For our entrees my girlfriend had the horseradish cod fish and I had the Angus NY sirloin which was cooked perfectly, served with mushrooms and fingerling potatoes. It was cooked perfectly and tasted even better. For dessert we had the Pavlova which was delicious. The service was top notch, everything perfectly served. Excellent attention to detail. The table we were given was with the view of the beautiful waterfall. The setting was very romantic.

Drive 5 minutes over the state line to Putnam's in White River Junction, Vermont for that sommelier-staffed experience. Love the ambience and rigorous focus on elevated, quality ingredients, at Putnam's. They have a corkboard-covered 3-ring binder menu which is aptly named a Field Guide. Trust me, this name is earned by the Tasting Notes alone. The field guide is like a thesis for advanced Upper Valley sippers, Vermont or not. If you forgot your book or paper, just saddle up to the Putnam's Field Guide. You'll find an elaborate offering of editorial descriptions of beverages from wine to martinis (6 kinds) to beer and whiskey (one from Japan). Btw, it's rare to find a wine bar that doubles as a gorgeous coffeehouse serving pastries, espresso-based drinks, teas and breakfast sandwiches on weekends. I'm looking forward to enjoying them sometime if I'm back. The offering at Putnam's Vineyard rotates seasonally, so I will describe what was there on my visits. Visit their website for updated menu surprises. As for the evening and weekends Fall menu, they call their offering Picnic Food. It's a modest title for an extensive offering of appetizers and a few sandwiches. Think fancied-up olives, pretzels, Brazilian cheese puffs, a craft beer mix, 2 melty sammies with Vermont cheeses (1 with turkey, the other veggies), beet and chevre arancini, dips and a vast selection of desserts. Vermont cheeses, apricots, Marcona almonds, dried apricots and crostini are looking divine on the cheese board. Oh, and there's also Superbon Madrid potato chips with Osetra caviar and a mini spirit of Gaston Chiquet champagne. Just saying. There is also a weekend brunch menu with bagels and egg sandwiches. As for the wine, I recommend a flight at Putmam's. In the fall season, these flight offerings were named: the Bella Blanca Wine Flight, the Falling Leaves Mixed Wine Flight, Fireside Reds Red Wine Flight, The Forgotten Bunches Mixed Wine Flight and the almighty and an unforgettable Sparkler Flight. In this flight, I slowly savoured 3 wine sparklers at $25 total. (And no, I cannot spell savour without a "u.") These wine flights are a true value. And here are the wines in the sparkler flight: 1.) Cava 2021 by Avinyó 2.) Crémant de Bourgogne Sparkling Brut Rosé NV by Albert Bichot 3.) Lambrusco by Villa Castellazo ROTA The Cava is everything. All three were delightful and I showed up needing warm fuzzies on an evening where there was live music so the total experience was extra lovely. There is also a whiskey flight! The coffee and craft beverages selection for the fall/winter menu includes a nitro cold brew, a brown butter latte with Maldon sea salt and biscotti and a FROLA New Orleans style cold brew slushie with maple syrup and coconut cream. To any craft and coffee beverage you can add Vermont Ice Cream Coffee Liqueur or Whistle Pig Piggy Back Bourbon. Yes, please. If you are making a trip of it, catch the local bbq joint across the way from Putnam's at lunch and then visit the wine bar for drinks. Layer up, because I've been nippy there twice, and then linger over one delightful beverage after the next. Oh, and there is a charming wine shop at Putnam's with handmade gifts to peruse, as well.

We were impressed from start to finish. Peter, our waiter, was friendly and chatty (without being too chatty), which we really appreciated, and he definitely nailed small-town Vermont charm. One of us ordered the Salty Chihuahua drink. It was tasty and very well priced. One of us started with a small green salad which was loaded with olives and feta- yum!! There was not a single bite of food that wasn't delicious. It blew us away. We ordered three entrees: chicken sliders, grande salad, and a special: the summer squash skillet, which we added meatballs to. We will be talking about and figuring out what was in those meatballs for years to come. The dishes were on the smaller side, but the prices reflect the amazing quality of the food. We are three New Yorkers with lots of opinions and high standards when it comes to what we eat. Brix exceeded those standards.
