A large bowl of salad containing black beans, edamame, cucumber, red onion, and greens, topped with microgreens and drizzled with a creamy dressing.

We stayed at the Hanover Inn and had a convenient lunch downstairs in the PINE restaurant. The Poached Pear salad (red looking) with the two fried chevre cheese balls, mixed greens, almonds, raspberries, prosciutto was fresh, big, and enough for a good lunch. My husband got the quinoa salad with black beans, edamame, corn, and it was huge and kept him filled until dinner. I liked the decor of the restaurant with the huge wooden beams in the ceiling.

The dinner menu is good selection of appetizers, small plates, and large plates, and should have something for most every taste. The lobster seafood risotto was excellent, creamy and a great portion size. I had the vegan risotto to try a new taste, though the farro and grains were not creamy nor soft as I'd have expected for a risotto dish. I finished off a half portion of the braised short ribs and gnocchi, excellent taste and portion size. At our table, the taco small plate looked great but I couldn't fit in even the one left for me. The service was excellent, at the table and the bar, with good selections of bourbons and beers though I opted for a Compari and soda when I saw the Compari bottle on the bar in front of me. Parking was surprising available on-street. I suspect it get extremely busy, with Dartmouth across the street, and the shopping nearby. Dartmouth at night is awesome from the restaurant, by the way, as is the spacious modern ambiance around the fireplace and bar.

Very classy ambiance. It was so packed we had to sit at the bar. The salmon was bland, i had to put a lot of salt and pepper on it. Burger was good though.

Another fantastic dinner at Pine. Attention to detail at every turn, service was phenomenal. A Dartmouth must!

The decor is modern and the dining room is clean. The stuff is attentive to a point. It's located very close to the college on the Main Street. Parking isn't easy especially during the summer season. The food is not what I expected. It's basic with a high price tag. The steak was precut... odd like you would for a young child. I asked the waitress why and she said it was the way they always served it to help dinners finish their meal faster... Why would a dinner want their food precut & why would the restaurant want their dinners to leave fast was not clear to me. It looked like the chef added one piece at a time to the plate to make up a full portion and not like a whole steak was cut into strips. There was a very generous amount of frites with a truffle flavoring but nearly no sauce as per the description on the menu. We eat and left fast!

This is one of my favorite spots. I regularly come here and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend for great intricate drinks and high quality food

Birthday din! Amazing food as always -- braised short rib in creamy polenta so fancy. Brian had salmon which was perfectly crispy and sweet. Yum. Just a lil pricey, but a good splurge Brunch with Brian's fam-- 8/10 breakfast Sammie. Potatoes were so delish and I was hungry. Company 11/10, service impeccable.

I don't write many reviews, and I have NEVER given anyone a one star review, or even thought about giving a one star review so this is a first for me. Came to town for a day trip and was staying that the hotel. Saw the 3.5 star review on Yelp and kind of wanted to change the reservation but went to google and saw a 4+ star rating and thought we would keep the reservation...big regret. Got there early to have a drink at the bar and it was pretty empty so we spotted a nice table and asked if we could sit there. They said they would see what they could do.. which was kind of odd seeing as it was dead inside and they didn't say that anyone else had requested that table. So we get cocktails and we have one person in our party ask if we could sit early since it seemed slow. She said that we would be seated in 5 minutes. Meanwhile, the hostesses weren't doing much and we waited closer to 10 minutes and got the table that we wanted that had been sitting empty the whole time we were there, yay! Bread service at the beginning--bread wasn't fresh, was stale. We order some food from the bar menu, nothing too impressive and super tiny portions. Deviled egg trio was good, nice and whipped, good flavor. Service was scarce...water glasses needed refilling and one person in the party ordered a second glass of wine to go with their entree that never arrived. Main courses-- The ribeye was the best out of all the rest BUT the asparagus was inedible, overcooked and couldn't even cut it. One got the $37 "paella" which is an embarrassment to the dish. Not served in the traditional paella pot, the smallest portion, the size of a closed fist. The dish is described as "Octopus, Squid, and Shrimp on the Plancha, Saffron and Chorizo Socarrat Cake, Fried Shishito, Pea Tendrils." Flavor was lacking and...there was ketchup...yes KETCHUP, straight of out of the bottle, which wasn't even on the menu description. EEEKKK. Halibut dish, looked good but flavor was lacking and it was over cooked. I can count on less than one hand how many times I've seen my family members used the salt and pepper at a restaurant. I was actually shocked at how many times we used salt and pepper and it still didn't really help. The "milk and kumquat braised loin Puree of Jerusalem Artichoke, Bacon and Brown Bread Panzanella"...oh boy. I'm picturing a stunning, falling apart, melt in your mouth BRAISED pork loin and it was everything but. First off... 100000% not braised. It was a grilled or sautéed pork chop loin, like the thick ones you can buy at the grocery store. Was tough and the artichoke purée was cold..not even a little bit warm. The panzanella and everything else on the plate was so sweet. I was wanting some salt and more savory flavors but none to be found. Desserts were the only redeeming thing for the evening. We ordered all 3 and a scoop of ice cream and all were good. Got the bill before the table was cleared and the bill was picked up before the table was cleared. Picture is of the table after bill was gone. We flagged down our waitress to ask for more wine glasses since we had a lot left and managed to get them pretty quickly, PRAISE! I understand this is a super small town, but with prices like this and the menu that looked amazing... it was very underwhelming. Our group was visiting from Texas and even though we are a family of restaurateurs and are spoiled with the Houston food scene, the place missed the mark on every level-- service & hospitality and food & flavor. Definitely would not recommend this place. You're better off trying some college kid food places. Also-- would've told our server these issues, but she did not ask once if we were enjoying our meals or anything in that regard. Just said that she hoped we enjoyed everything after she picked up the bill. Doesn't seem like they really care if we truly enjoyed or not. 2/4 of our entrees were barely touched. Also, no idea if there is a manager here because we never saw them walking around and they definitely didn't visit our table. Oh well.

Our hostess and later server, Leona, answered the phone and was extremely pleasant in letting us know she could get us seated. Leona recommended the Brussels and they did not disappoint with a perfect combo of roasted small Brussel sprouts with crispy prosciutto, goat cheese mousse and pickled red onions. What a great combo!! We also split the spinach salad which was perfect for winter with dried cherries, blue cheese, candied pecans and apples. We also had the artichoke fritters which had a subtle taste of artichoke and bits of tangy lemon. We split the ginger pork meatloaf and it was a creative, delicious take on traditional meatloaf. The flavor was reminiscent of the inside of a superb Peking dumpling. The dining room was decorated with beautiful area photos and there was beautiful display of custom designed knives that could be seen in a show case on the way to the restrooms. I took a photo because it may come in handy for a future gift for some aspiring chefs in my family! Excited to add Thyme to our list of stops in between our travels to and from MA to VT.

I found it impossible to find this burrito bowl hidden lunch spot in Hanover, NH reviews until …read more.. I found and entered the name of the restaurant in a web search. The burrito bowl-style menu is similar to a Chipotle offering but without the big franchise ownership attached. There are 3 locations, total, at time of reviewing. The prices are on the higher side but I believe it is because of the quality of the ingredients. The ingredients do taste absolutely fresh and it's a B Corp. So, they pay their employees $15 p/h, use bamboo bowls, naturally-raised meats and organic tofu and have certain causes which they support. Walking in, I immediately smelled a seasoning that I'm not used to smelling when I walk into a Mexican-based restaurant. I thought it might be cumin, but the chef said while they do use cumin, it's only in one recipe. I guess I smelled something like chili seasonings instead of the smell of roasted meats, so maybe they were preparing a sauce, or something. I really liked how friendly the employees were and the layout of the restaurant. The crew were helpful. The row of two booths is only for thin or small customers. I couldn't feel comfortable in one of those booths - no room - so we moved to the booths along the wall. I loved the artwork on the long wall! It was gorgeous and nice to know they support a local artist. I asked about what the BCorp aspect of the business supported and the employee told me she wasn't sure but to look on the back wall. I was too distracted by the gorgeous and colorful artwork to get back to the wall to eventually find out what the missions of the B-corp were. I also looked on the website for what their cause, but on a quick peruse, I couldn't find anything. Feel free to leave comments on this to help I and others, please. :) Things to make sure to try while you are here: the chocolate chip cookies, the mango salsa, the brown rice with cilantro and the nacho chips. The rice, especially, was good because it wasn't too brown and earthy. The guac had a vinegar flavor, which might be a regional New England style of prep here, since I've tasted that vinegar flavor in my guacamole before at another place. It's like those here up north like their guac tart with tang, but I'm not sure. I prefer just a slight lime taste. I tried the Teriyaki OG bowl. This is roasted broccoli, roasted carrots, caramelized onions, teriyaki sauce and rice. My advice: do get the teriyaki sauce on the side, or get it reduced in the amount of sauce they offer. The sauce was overpowering and had a less-than-homemade taste to it. The carrots are strongly and freshly marinated, which was a tasty surprise and would be good without swimming in the sauce. We got tofu added to our bowl and that was good. I did end up ordering another side of $3 rice after the fact to balance out the amount of sauce flavoring to it, however, instead of complaining about "my bowl was smothered in sauce." We also got the Summer Bowl with black beans, melted cheese, mango salsa and brown rice with cilantro. I don't recall any melted cheese flavor, but maybe it was the cojita. Loved the mango sauce: it tasted fresh and homemade. You can pick any protein. The grilled chicken was fine. I wonder what the carnitas taste like. Guessing the flavor is traditional. I also did not try the Magic Loco Sauce, but it sounds intriguing, for sure. Boloco bills itself as Modern Mexican, and since I don't know about what makes it modern, I wonder if it's basically the sauces and seasonings vs. the cooking preparation since the offering is basically a burrito and burrito bowl shop. I found a bottled green chili siracha on the table made in China, yet it tasted like a nice Thai sauce instead of a garlicky hot sauce. This hot sauce was not at all the flavor I was expecting because it was more velvety hot on the taste buds than crisp and spicy. (It's interesting that this sauce is made in China given that Siracha originated in Thailand.) So, if you want a Thai flavor at Boloco, and aren't going to dine at the nearby TukTuk Thai restaurant for the real deal, order the Boloco OG Bowl with no sauce and use a bit of the Green Siracha hot sauce on the table, to your liking. I loved that there was also a Tabasco brand Siracha - made stateside - on the table, as well. Didn't try it out of this trip. The nacho chips are delicious! They are not too course, sturdy and salty. Get the chocolate chip cookies because they are very good. Homemade and tasty. And they looked homemade, as well, which made them charming. Also, I got the bottled Coke vs. the Mexican bottle of Coke. Usually the bottles from Mexico are a bit more hyped. My bottled soda was energizing which is probably excellent for students. Finally, I loved that after eating this meal that I had energy, instead of feeling sluggish. This is credited to a campus restaurant which decides to offer a higher-end version of a Chipotle with B-Corp values.

The hibiscus drink was refreshing and not overly sweet. It was a vibrant restaurant with lots of Dartmouth college students popping in and out.
