Okay I was NOT expecting to like Molly's this much. First of all, their BREAD and BUTTER! I'm astounded by how soft it was and how delicious (and slightly sweet?) the butter tased. I'm not normally a bread and butter before dinner gal but it hit the spot. I split two pastas, and one of them was okay, while the other was AMAZING. The chicken carbonara was a 7/10. Not a bad pasta, but nothing crazy. It really tasted like Alfredo pasta with a bit more savoryness. On the other hand, the short rib Bolognese was way better than expected. 10/10, honestly. The short rib was tender and melted in your mouth and the sauce wasn't just a standard marinara. It was richer, with a sort of creaminess and perhaps even a good amount of cheese. It was AMAZING. Not many great places to go for a casual sit down dinner in Hanover with a group so we went back to Molly's and were disappointed again with the food. The positive is that we were able to put our name on the waiting list so we were seated right away once we arrived, having walked over from the Hanover Inn. Our table of six were mostly just okay with their food (burger, fish and chips, pasta). The standout item was the clam chowder which had plentiful clam pieces and a really good flavor. 5/5 The chicken nachos were pretty good 4/5 I suspect we will still go back to Molly's in the future because it is a Hanover institution and convenient, but I need to find what item to order that I will really enjoy eating. read more

Burger burger burger! Every time we take a road trip from Mass to Vermont we love to stop at Molly's to break up the drive. The place is very spacious and has great food! We were quickly seated Sunday night around 6pm even though there were a lot of people walking in to the restaurant. They usually have great daily specials but also their regular menu has alot of variety from salads, sandwiches, noodles, pasta, burgers. This time I ordered their daily burger special and it was mouthwatering delicious! It was topped with bacon and cooked perfectly! My boyfriend got their fish and chips which I noticed alot of people were ordering. The service is always fast and great and the waiters are very friendly. We were tempted to order dessert but we were pretty stuffed! They had carrot cake and cheesecake along with ice cream to choose from but we were too full. Next time! read more

Ok real talk...let's first discuss the environment. Cozy cozy Hanover esque American cuisine restaurant. 3 dolla margs and crayons on the table for doodle talk. Came with 9 of my friends from college and the waiter handled us well. And our weird requests. More broccoli?? I ordered chicken carbonara and tbh I'm a food freak so I just cannot rate the actual food too highly. Chicken was dry enough to notice and pasta was just solidly mid. Still not close to lobsters so another substitute on our recent New England organized motor coach bus tour of 48 passengers. We made a stop in Hanover after a short visit to Woodstock VT to see a covered bridge. Time for lunch. With 48 of us on the hunt for a place to eat, the five of us came here based on previous Yelp reviews. Soon enough others in our group arrived. Happy to say the restaurant accommodated many in our travel group. Service was very attentive and our food came in a timely manner. This is a solid, American pub style restaurant. The pluses: 1. Relatively large restaurant. We came on Mother's Day at 5:30 and waited 5 min for a table to be cleaned. I hear it can get busy. 2. Wood fired oven got pizza that was thin crust and very good. Got a mushroom pizza drizzled with truffle oil. The truffle oil was not overdone. 3. Salads were very good with fresh ingredients 4. They like to source locally when they can. 5. $3 margaritas. You get what you pay for, but at $3, you can't lose. Also got a Ginger Bees which was delicious. 6. Hamburger special cooked perfectly to medium rare. 7. Even though it's a big restaurant, it was not loud, you could easily hear people at the table. With two older parents with us, this was appreciated. 8. A huge mud pie for dessert that 4 of us shared! Delicious. The minuses: I think they must be short staffed, especially at the bar. Molly's Restaurant and Bar is an awesome family restaurant on the Dartmouth campus with a wide selection of options including hearth-baked pizzas, a friendly atmosphere and super-inexpensive $3 house margaritas. It's the kind of place that you want to walk into and spend time at as you view it from the sidewalk. Molly's is gorgeous on the outside with actual ivy climbing up its brick walls. And then you go in and if they're baking pizzas in their hearth, it smells especially inviting. Their service is excellent: I've always seem earnest and efficient staff, here. Their sweet potato fries with honey mustard are awesome. I've really enjoyed their salads and noodle bowls. The pasta dishes are satisfying. Never had a burger there. The thin crust, wood-fired pizza - though on the smaller serving side - is truly a thing: hot, melty and perfect texture and crunch. The Buddha Bowl, Bang Bang Shrimp and Gochujang Chicken Bowl are all hits. There are so many more things on their menu I would still like to try! Get the carrot cake. Yum. The desserts are: carrot cake, mud pie, brownie, lava cake and churro cheesecake. And it appears by the menu wording - Make it a Shake or Make it a Hot Fudge Sundae - that you can get these dessert ingredients actually made into a shake or a hot fudge sundae, which is creative. The Molly's Restaurant environment is classic with nods to historic Dartmouth College moments. The bar is a fun place and good to visit after taking in a movie at The Nugget. I especially love the handwritten blackboards in the bar area with chalk art and drink specials, etc. I have never felt that I was invading a campus scene dominated by deserving collegiates, here, instead - welcome. I've sat next to families with kids and seen them drawing on the paper table cloths, while I was doing the same. :) I have seen groups of students, many non-students and older college staff dining here, so it is welcoming in that way. I once dined here alone in the snow and looked out of the windows to see storybook icicles gracing the front windows. Not being from here, I actually thought they were decoratons because the icicles were so big. No: they were real - gigantic and gorgeous - icicles here. You often see parents and students dining together and this is what makes Molly's a Dartmouth gem! read more

$3-4 margs? Sign me up. Molly's is a cute local American restaurant/bar that's good for large groups. Servers are really nice and accommodating. Their free bread and honey butter are ADDICTING and I think we filled up a little too much on those. I split the bang bang shrimp with a friend and they were nice enough to put it in two bowls (pic is of half a serving). It was a tasty comfort pasta, pretty greasy but nice and creamy. Truffle fries were also good and they gave an entire plateful- more of a full entree than a side dish. I will say, the flavored margs are way too sweet but a really good deal if you're able to choke it down. read more

After all the stellar reviews, I found Molly's to be somewhat disappointing. I arrived about 6:30 on a Friday night and took the one empty seat at the bar. The bartender took far too long to even recognize that a new face had shown up. I know it was a Friday night but the bar has only 12 seats. A good bartender will immediately see when someone new sidles up. Eventually, the bartender brought the menu and offered a beverage. I chose a Sauv Blanc along with a bowl of their much-acclaimed French onion soup and a half Caesar salad. No acclaim from me for either. The soup broth was watery; nowhere near enough beef flavor. And it was too light on the onions. Nice cheese topping, but much better French onion soups can be had at Jesse's and even the chain Restaurant 99. The Caesar salad had almost no dressing. I don't like salads drowned in dressing but there should be enough. Not the case here. I did see their $3 margaritas advertised and my bartender asked if I'd like to try one. Sure! Apparently they make them en masse, as she pulled out a 1/2-gallon milk jug and poured from it into my salt-encrusted glass. Not one you're going to rave is "exactly like the ones we get in Mexico" but for $3, pretty good, really. And the warm bread with the honey butter (which wasn't offered but I knew to ask for, thanks to Yelp reviews) were also very tasty. If you're a college student the $3 Margs will probably take the edge off and you'll be just fine. But I want a more attentive experience and, honestly, better food. Given the "meh" food and the lackluster service, I doubt if I'll be back. read more

Pretty typical American food, portions on the larger side. Nice accommodating staff, short wait times during busy dinner hour, lively ambiance. Complimentary warm bread for the table. Decent $3 margaritas!! I ordered the grilled chicken avocado sandwich, no bacon, with a side Caesar salad. The sandwich was great, exactly what you'd imagine, but the brioche bun deflated quickly. The side salad was large, but too much parmesan. Get there early, usually 1 hour wait. Chimichurri steak doesn't have actual chimichurri on it, it's just steak with some dried parsley sprinkled on top. The pastas are good though, the alfredo and carbonara are flavorful. Cant go wrong with $3 margaritas either. Staff is nice but it does get busy, so service can be on the slower end. Ambiance is nice, I like the vibe. My boyfriend and I went to the bathroom for around 5 minutes after our meal, and when we came back to the table, all our to-go boxes were tossed :( . We visited Molly's last Saturday after visiting a local museum. The service was very good and our server had many tables and had to makes drinks at the bar. She too great care of us. I ordered a cheese pizza and it is now on my top five favorite pizzas in NH. The crust was thin and perfect and it was seasoned well. I had plenty of leftovers and I will definitely order the cheese pizza next time. My wife ordered fish tacos and and it came with a side of Spanish rice. She loved the food and was also happy with a delicious mock-tail that she ordered. The restaurant was clean and the hostess that greeted us was welcoming and friendly. Molly's is now our go to restaurant when we drive up to Hanover. Parking was not a problem and there was no wait time. We were there early afternoon. But it was crowded and that's why our server impressed us because she managed all that she had to do, very well. read more

How can you go wrong with a place named after your daughter!? Checking the local eateries around town I stumbled upon Molly's. Looking at the reviews and some of the pictures of the food enticed me to give it a try. I decided to try the maple turkey burger. Upon a call to the restaurant, and a discussion with the gentleman there named Dylan, I decided this was a popular and positive choice. You get quite a bit of food for the money here. The burger was pretty doggone big. Cooked well and a very good taste. I couldn't finish it all so it will be saved for round two. Along with the meal I substituted coleslaw for french fries. They give you a good amount of coleslaw. Very tasty but a bit on the dry side. But goooooood. I also ordered a salad. It's a good size salad, and the vegetables were all fresh. it comes on iceberg lettuce and includes carrots, tomatoes, and red cabbage. The suggestion was to go with the balsamic yogurt. The dressing was OK. You also get a gigantic roll with butter. Like I said, way too much food, but awesome value! Don't change a thing Molly. read more

We topped it off with carrot cake that was also baked to perfection and flavorful with the perfect amount of icing. We would definitely order any of these again. My wife and I stopped while on our trip through the Northeast. We weren't really too sure where to go, and Yelp suggested Molly's! Seem to be a trendy little spot with quite a few people there when we were. After perusing the eclectic menu, we decided on splitting some food, a fired chicken quesadilla, Caesar salad, and Brunswick stew. Unfortunately, I do not recall our servers name but she did a fine job. The chicken quesadilla was huge! It came out exactly as ordered. The small Caesar salad was huge! The staff there was all very nice and I'll give an extra shout out to the bartender, Britney. The ambience was fun and friendly. I had a lot of fun reading all the vintage signs that made up the decor. The prices are a bit high as in a $18 for a bowl of vegetarian risotto bowl and $18 for a chicken sandwich with fries but I guess that is to be expected in this part of NH (Dartmouth is just a 5 min walk away). They let us know the kitchen closes at 10 so the waitress kept checking in to try and get our order in quick. Got the Chimichurri steak and that was super delicious as well, the steak was seasoned well and beautifully cooked medium like I asked, nice and tender. Will go again! I came for lunch and tried the Lemon Chicken Piccata and it was delicious. Plenty of flavors and creamy sauce. Also had the tomato bisque soup and it was fantastic. Probably the best I ever had. Came back for dinner and had the Turkey burger but it was a flop. No flavor, not juicy at all, and they toast the bun so much that the edges were hard. We have been going to Molly's for years, but we haven't visited with them since Covid. What a delight that it hadn't changed one bit. Still started off with their hot fresh bread with whipped maple butter. I love the menus here because you always get a different album cover each time- how clever! The menu itself has always been very diverse too- a little something for everyone's taste. Hubby ordered the Chicken Carbonara (great flavor and good serving size) and a side Cesar salad (fresh and cold). I ordered the Buddha Bowl (so filling! had leftovers for next day's lunch!). Everything was delicious- very fresh and brought over to us steaming hot (cold for the salad of course!). The ambiance is always pleasant- love seeing that pizza oven in action. Justin was super friendly and very attentive. We didn't have to wait too long for our meals nor for our bill, which was very reasonable for what we ordered. Wonderful through and through! Service was prompt and friendly, my sister and I were seated immediately and we didn't wait more than 10 minutes for food to arrive. Our server was friendly and prompt, he made multiple visits to make sure cups were never empty and check that everything tasted good. When it came out we weren't disappointed with the quality! Got my Moderna #2 today, so decided to head back to Molly's. I got the Philly cheesesteak this time, per the server, a bubbly young brunette's recommendation. My mom got the avocado grilled chicken sandwich without bacon and my dad got the Thai coconut chicken curry with rice. He also ordered the truffle fries for the table as an appetizer. The truffle fries were ridiculously good: rosemary, parsley, lots of minced garlic, kosher or truffle salt and I think even some Parmesan cheese. We saved all the seasoning for our sides of fries. My sandwich was very good, though I'm picky and would've preferred the peppers to be diced versus large chunks (not a big deal). My mom and dad both loved their meals. My mom's sandwich was so big that she took half home. There was a generous two cups of fries per plate, so we took those home too, covered in the garlicky truffle seasoning for a layer nosh fest. My dad loved his black raspberry margarita. As the DND plus I'd had my shot, I had an Arnold Palmer, my mom freshly brewed iced tea. Service was excellent, just like it was the first time. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that KAF is 1.5 miles away, so we will come back next time we do a KAF supplies run. All-in-all a very good experience. read more
