The owner told me that their galleries featured 16 local artists and 200 artists from all around the world (amazing!!!). I would never expect to randomly walk in a store to experience THIS MUCH arts!!! From recycle materials to metal works, they have it all! Of course, love this place so much I had to walk out with a purchase! Gallery in the Woods appeared to be one of my most favorite places in Vermont. From the very start, he was so kind and very welcoming. He engaged in casual conversation with me in the most comforting and friendly way. He was adorable and sweet. I was just looking around and seeing what they had and he acted like I was the most important customer. I had no intention of buying anything - since I was just window shopping that day, but I really wanted to support him and his business and ended up purchasing a very cute pair of elephant earrings. Since then I've seen Greg around and have come to find he's just a wonderfully kind man. You definitely want to check this place out. Anything. Seriously, ANYTHING. This is a high end boutique that offers locally created jewelry, glass, sculpture, pottery, wood stuffs, paintings, photographs, some furniture, and textiles. Attached to the shop are two more shops: 1. The Kitchen Sync - amazing kitchen store - gadgets, electrics, glassware, barware, tableware, cookbooks, tons of cool kitchen stuff, great for gifts. 2. Gallery 2 - the upstairs art gallery. Much of this is local art and some consignment. A couple other things... - Free gift wrapping. I wrapped SOOO many gifts in high school that I am totally a master at it now. I can make a seriously impressive bow with a couple feet of ribbon. Sweet. - Will ship your purchases anywhere you want. - If you see something you sort of like but not quite, say something to an employee and they will check if something more to your preference can be special ordered. - The bathroom is less than impressive and therefore supposedly for employees only, but if you ask the right person s/he will let you in it. Don't judge the lavender paint job - I did it myself.

Randi blows glass nearly every day and provides gallery seating for visitors to sit and watch. The wonderful thing about this experience is that Randi also teaches and explains what she is doing as she works. The pieces on display are gorgeous. My "want to buy" list expands every time I visit. I highly encourage you to stop in, learn a bit from Randi and Natalie, sign up for the next glass blowing workshop and enjoy the beauty of their work. You will want to visit over and over!

A gem - building, exhibits, and view! An easy must-see!…read more We went on a rainy day - aunty with niece (high school) & nephew (elementary school) - and were able to park right in front of the building, which we found no problem. I just became a member at $45 so admission was free for me, $8 total for them. What a deal! The building is a gem - an old train station and the lobby makes for a welcoming, spacious, and beautiful place to see art. The ticket office is preserved and is the art room for kids and the young at heart. The woman who greeted us - an intern from Marlboro College - was super helpful as well as enthusiastic about the exhibits. We were all enthralled with the Red Grooms exhibit - his art (which is playful & joyful) plays off the white, airy space well. We only had 60-90 minutes but we could have sat on that NY bus all day. The rest of the space - off the main lobby - is less exciting (lower ceilings, nothing reminiscent of an old train station) but the art was well done, especially the Mallory Lake pastels. I just moved from the Bay Area to Western Massachusetts and am thrilled that this place exists. Note the individual membership currently includes a discount to Marlboro's music series.
