Brunch here was very good, nice ambiance and we got a seat with a great view of the waterfall. The bloody mary was excellent as well as their cheddar soup (very decedent and can be shared by two as a starter). The lamb burger was juicy and seasoned just right, the crab eggs benedict is not a do over the eggs were runny and the crab did not add much to the dish. The service was excellent and very attentive. read more

My first encounter with Simon Pearce occurred one rainy afternoon spent watching Sweet Home Alabama. Taken aback by the beautiful southern glass showcased throughout the film, I turned to the all-knowing higher power, Google (duh!), and after a bit of searching to uncover the manufacturer a new obsession was born! Located on the Ottauquechee River near a rustic wood-covered bridge this restaurant appears to have been plucked from the heavens! With live glass blowing demonstrations downstairs, a showroom overflowing with stunning goods upstairs, and a top notch restaurant serving local and seasonal ingredients, this place is a guaranteed great time. NOTE: All of the china and glassware used in the restaurant is Simon Pearce, so it's a plus to be able to try out the product for yourself before buying! read more

Beautiful setting and delicious food with excellent service. We went there with friends and sat in the screened in porch above the river. Just beautiful. read more

I love the little biscuts! They make me happy. The lamb burger and the cheese soup are perfect and I'm not sure I can order anything else. Sitting on the edge of a waterfall in VT it's quite a picturesque spot. If you are travelling to Stowe from Boston stop here for lunch! read more

Simon Pearce - Get the locally sourced everything. - New American Near Me - Quechee, Vermont

Peaked with the appetizers, cheddar soup was great but everything else was a tad disappointing. Service- waiter was friendly but forgetful, slow, hardly even asked if we needed anything. View - great view Food- not so great. As said above the cheddar soup was top notch but for the lamb burger (dry, overrated) sesame chicken (dry) sheppard's pie (average) we would not go back. Price - fair prices. read more

Everything was delicious. One of the best meals I've ever had. Paired with the atmosphere and beautiful views of the river - this place really stands out. read more

Heard from a friend that this place was beyond excellent...the food was definitely a home run without a doubt. I had the braised short rib which was perfect and my mom had filet tenderloin which she said was wonderful. The service was fair, nothing to complain about but nothing to remember. Since we wanted a window seat overlooking the falls, we made a reservation two weeks prior which I assume is typical. We got there early and looked around at all the beautiful glass pieces and then checked in. At that point we were told we had to get into a "line" in order to get a good window seat. We were not told this over the phone which was disappointing but I think the real problem was this non-existent line since everyone just gathered near the opening. It was not organized well and just seemed sloppy for a restaurant with such a reputation. Overall, if you are looking for a unique restaurant with high quality, expensive food then you should try it out. Just get a reservation way in advance and ask about the seating. read more

Really good and romantic place to dine right in the store. We had the beet and cheddar soup for appetizer and they were delicious. The halibut and chicken were also so tasty. We got the maple creme brûlée. All around great dining experience and great staff. A must go! read more

I visited the restaurant on a snowy winter day. We were seated with a view of the falls and it was absolutely beautiful. The food was good, delicious but really not exceptional. Nothing I would make a drive just for but if I was in the area I would probably stop just for the view. read more

Came for dinner on a Monday night and everything was just wonderful. We got a table by the window, which looks out over an incredible view of a waterfall (the sheer power of the water was also seen just before the restaurant, as there is a bridge that got completely washed out during Hurricane Irene. It was noted in the menu that Simon Pearce also suffered extensive damage during the storm, losing their entire wine cellar). Water glasses were filled, drink orders taken and warm bread was brought to the table--a small baguette and irish brown bread, both excellent. For starters, I had the Vermont Cheddar Soup--creamy and absolutely delish, the only thing that could have made it better would have been crumbled bacon on top! Tom started with the Rock Crab Cake, which he enjoyed. For entrees, Tom had the Seared Duck Breast with yaki soba noodle, bok choy, edamame and a raspberry soy reduction--the duck was cooked perfectly, the raspberry soy was a nice compliment to the duck. I had a Wild Boar and Smoked Bacon bolognese--the dish definitely had an almost overpowering smoky taste, the sauce was flavorful but so thin that you had to be careful when eating or it would splash everywhere when you were grabbing the pasta! Portion size was perfect and service was nice and efficient. We opted out of dessert--nothing really caught our eye. Overall, a lovely dining experience made better by the view! read more

Locally sourced ingredients come together to make some delicious New England-inspired options. I love the Vermont Cheddar soup. The beef stew is always good. One of my favorites is the sesame seared chicken...ordered it several times. This weekend I tried the lamb burger. I would have preferred the lamb a little less cooked and a little more flavor in the aioli, but the lamb itself had good flavor. The whole Simon Pearce experience (gallery, glass blowers, etc) is worth doing at least once. read more

Beautiful house wares, great view, friendly people, educational, yummy food. Add all those up and you get a great experience at Simon Pearce. I sent a pic of the stemware to my boyfriend and told him not to be surprised when they end up on our wedding registry one day. I love how they give you a pager while you wait for your table so you can look around the showroom or go downstairs to see the waterfall, live glassblowing, and live pottery making. They're very open about what they do which gives so much more meaning to the products they sell upstairs. It also gives justification to the hefty prices. I'd never pay $50 for a drinking glass at Bed Bath and Beyond, but I'd consider it at Simon Pearce after knowing how much skill and care goes into creating each and every piece. I usually celebrate perfection and matching, but the hand blown glass is so beautifully imperfect to me. I am also very impressed by their purpose and mission. They are very aware of their impact on the environment. They use hydro-electric power from the waterfall outside for the entire facility, recycle food scraps as chicken feed at a local farm, and the head chef uses the used cooking oil to fuel his car! As far as the food goes, it was very delicious. For brunch, I started with the Vermont Cheddar soup and ordered the wild mushroom and Chevre crepe, a daily special served on sautéed spinach and a garlic cream sauce that was heavenly. This place attracted a lot of attention, but it's not overrated. It delivers in all forms! read more

Stopped here for lunch while traveling in the area. A lovely setting: a converted old mill building that obviously once drew its power from the adjacent river. There is seating on a terrace (of sorts) and the view was superb on a warm spring day. The lunch menu seems to be patterned after the imagined desires of their glass-shopping clientele: soups, quiche, salads, locally sourced cheeses, a chicken sandwich, shepherd's pie and a lamb based burger. They also sport a full bar with local brews on tap and an impressive selection of wines. Service was affable and prompt. My companion and I both tried the quiche of the day which featured sun dried tomato, mushroom and cheese, served with lightly dressed greens. The quiche was impressively thick and seemingly well done, though while hot at first bite, was a touch cold in the center, indicating a recent turn in a microwave. This is a quibble, really. One hardly expects quiche served a la minute. Probably worth another go. Next time I'll stick to my instincts and try the lamb. read more

Went here for the 2nd time. They had a mushroom gnocchi appetizer that was absolutely delicious. Too small of a portion was my only complaint, because it was that good. For dinner i had their Cod dish, and that was very good. I am never disappointed with the service or the food here. More reviews to come. read more

While visiting Simon Pearce we decided to grab a bite to eat at their onsite restaurant. There were 4 of us and we had about a 10 minute wait which allowed us to walk around and check out their glass pieces. Worth a look but quite expensive. Anyway, back to lunch! I order the lamb burger with the spinach salad with feta. WOW, that lamb burger was lean and quite tasty. Almost felt like I was eating a lamb chop based on the taste. My husband ordered the salmon which he loved. He felt the portion could have been a bit more generous but it was great. The views of the falls were amazing, worth a visit to Simon Pearce. read more

Simon Pearce - Breathtaking, enough said - New American Near Me - Quechee, Vermont

As others have noted, Simon Pearce offers a unique experience. You can shop for handmade, simply designed glassware, pottery, textiles and furniture. Or you can enjoy excellent food in a charming and unique restaurant. Or both. We visit the restaurant regularly and, when we do, wonder why we don't come there more often. The restaurant is the kind of place that is so lovely that it would be packed even if the food weren't excellent. Fortunately, you don't have to sacrifice quality to dine in beautiful surroundings. Many of the items on the menu are locally sourced when possible: most of the dishes we've tried have been good to excellent. Expect about 6-8 entrees, with poultry, meat, and seafood choices and some vegetarian options. Nothing too outlandish or over-the-top: tasty, well-executed dishes, many with an interesting flourish that will please your palate. The horseradish-crusted cod is a staple: perfectly cooked cod with a bit of a snap--a great foil to cold weather. The wine list contains some interesting high-end choices, but there are many attractive mid-priced bottles and a decent selection of pours by the glass. And leave room for dessert..... We do own some Simon Pearce glass and pottery. It's simple, elegant, and charming. Yes, it's expensive, but it is handmade and the quality and design are worth it. read more

While searching Yelp for a restaurant near Woodstock, I came across Simon Pearce and immediately had fond memories of a meal here a few years ago. First of all, the store is amazing and glassblowing workshop is very neat. Now, on to the restaurant. The location is lovely, even on a dreary day. The fact that I so clearly remember the food a few years later tells you how good it was. The staff was very nice; the service quite good; and the food was excellent. Alas, we now have little children, so a return visit is probably out of the question, at least for a few years. read more

Let me start by saying that this place is adorable. It's a restaurant overlooking a river, waterfall, and covered bridge. We were lucky to go here on the first really nice day of the year, and it was perfect. We came for the sunday brunch. Slightly on the pricey side, but you are definitely getting the quality you pay for. I had the crab cake eggs benedict and my boyfriend had the fish and chips. Only complaint would be that one of the eggs was slightly overcooked, but I was so full that wouldn't have been able to eat it anyway. The fish and chips was far above your standard pup fare. The fish tasted really fresh and the batter wasn't overly heavy. Both came with mixed greens with a light dressing - type escapes me - but it was really good. All of the glassware they use is sold in the store, but spare yourself the heart flutters unless you are cool with dropping $55 for a drinking glass. Service was really friendly and quick. I think we were in and out in about 40 minutes. read more

This is a really, really popular fine dining choice for dates, graduation and other big events for Dartmouth students, but I've never really been blown away by this place's actual food. The first time I went, it was with a group of friends and our parents. I ordered a dish with scallops, and mine must have been slightly undercooked, because I wound up quite ill later that evening. The dessert was excellent, though, which was nice. The second time, I was on a date and we went for lunch. He got a burger, which he really enjoyed, but I was again somewhat underwhelmed by my meal. We both ordered drinks: he got bloody Marys (no surprises here; those things are pretty much the same everywhere) and I ordered a fruity cocktail (pretty good; nothing terribly inventive, though, by big city/foodie standards). Honestly, it's not bad food, but the expectation that comes along with it ends up making this place significantly overrated for what it delivers. The concept of most dishes is pretty good, based on what I saw on menus, but execution was choppy (I can't imagine it's terribly easy to find really great kitchen staff in rural New England). With that said... The location is stunning! Wandering around the store and hanging out at the back next to the river is great in all seasons. It's a very New England type of experience as far as the setting goes, and I can see the appeal in the rustic setting alone. read more

Cool spot. Lotsa work by talented artists. I actually like the "seconds" theyve got for sale! Waterfalls outside and a covered bridge damaged by the hurricane right next to this spot. The great: Ravioli (pan-fried) with chutney. The sauce on the arincinis. Riverview, ambiance and service. The good: Cheddar cheese soup, arancinis The not so great: cappacino (not great coffee), green salad (good greens but not so great dressing). They do not take lunch reservations so that's probably your best bet for getting a table. Put your name in and go shopping. read more

What a wonderful location! Just beautiful. And a very handsome restaurant at that. The Cheddar soup was 5 stars deliciousness. The garden salad a bit average re: dressing. Lamb pappardelle was savory and satisfying. And the crispy Duck was top notch. Note: the sourdough bread served upon arrival is ah-maz-ing! Service staff, although very competent and friendly, would have to be increased to garner 5 stars. Our plates sat finished on the table over 5 minutes. A big deal? Nope. Not enough room to order dessert. Great value for $$$ spent! Would happily return. read more

If you love flowing water, water pouring over a dam then you have to have lunch at this restaurant in Quechee, Vermont. In addition to the beautiful setting you have a wonderful restaurant at your service. Everyone is super friendly, many attentive servers, and the food very good and imaginative. Sunday brunch is great because it continues in the afternoon. Their Mediterranean lamb burger is great if you like lamb and the Shepard pie is also great...lots of imaginative drinks. I loved the robust iced coffee. Yes prices are high but that is the case all over this year...you get what you pay for. read more

Still a favorite when I come to Vermont. It's definitely not cheap, but the soup is so good... As are all the other dishes I've tried.

15 years ago while on our honeymoon we bought a beautiful glass bottle here. Ever since we've kept it in the fridge filled with water and every meal it's on the table, reminding us of our first ever Vermont trip. We mostly wash it by hand and I think the occasional dishwasher cleaning is making it a little cloudy. I've noticed Simon Pearce items in stores, but it doesn't beat the experience of being there and watching them make these beautiful pieces in such a gorgeous setting. Sadly... not what it used to be. We were so looking forward to returning to the Simon Pearce restaurant after having last been there two years ago. What a disappointment! The food was unremarkable and blah! and the service even worse. Our waitress served us a glass of wine that was full of sediment at the bottom of the glass and was only discovered after we had a mouthful of sediment. when we mentioned this to her, she came back with an attitude and a replacement glass of wine that had barely a sip of wine in it. Apparently, she thought that was a sufficient remedy for having a mouthful of sediment. There are so many better restaurants in the area, do yourself a favor and skip this one! read more

Simon Pearce is my favorite restaurant! I dine there at least 9 times a year and it is always my destination when friends and family visit. Yet another enjoyable and wonderful meal at the Simon Pearce Restaurant in Quechee. You cannot beat the view and ambience, overlooking the waterfall and covered bridge, you definitely know you are in Vermont! The staff at the restaurant makes you feel very welcome and are extremely attentive. Part of the reason I love this restaurant is I get to eat and drink out of the Simon Pearce glassware, its such a treat because unfortunately my budget doesn't allow me to have place settings like these at home! I have never had a bite of food I did not like at the restaurant. They do an equally good job with delicate fish as they do with hearty meats like lamb and veal. You can tell the ingredients are extremely fresh and prepared with a lot of thought. It is one of the few places I will order dessert. The most recent trip we had the peach cobbler which was surprisingly served slightly chilled and it was so delicious that way, especially in the heat of the summer. It really ended the meal on the right note. We will be going back again as we always do when we are visiting that area of Vermont! read more

If ever in the future I am anywhere near this area again, I will spend time watching the craftsmanship of the glass blowers. I loved the store, the location, the water and covered bridge just outside - the relaxed tranquility of the experience. One strange thing was that a blower had a t-shirt on from the Huntington Beach Dog Beach - and we live SOOOOO far from here for him to have our t-shirt! I received a wedding gift from here - 2 glass heart paper weights. I just LOVE them. You can do it all here - relax, be entertained, have a bite to eat. Two enthusiastic thumbs up. read more

This spot has a ton of reviews and I'm not sure I have much new ground to cover. We love Simon Pearce and have always had a wonderful time- I do agree that lunch is a better value, but dinner is also very nice. It's definitely worth it to plan ahead and make a reservation to sit near the window, or wait the extra time it takes to get one of those tables. We've always had attentive, friendly service here, too. I once ordered one of the specials and really didn't like it, and even though I didn't say anything or complain, the waitress brought it up when she saw my full plate, and then removed the item from our bill, which we didn't even ask for. Also, we recently registered at Simon Pearce for our wedding, and if you do your registry with them, they will give you a little "minimoon" that includes a dinner at the restaurant and a night in the local inn. Way to class it up like whoa, Simon Pearce! One final note: If the walnut and raspberry macaroon is on the dessert menu when you are there, ORDER IT! it's the best most yummy wonderful thing ever :) read more

Of all the restaurants I have ever been to in my life, Simon Pearce is my favorite. Yes, that is saying a lot because I am picky as shiznit. Part of it dates back to my decision to attend Dartmouth, but regardless of my own history with the place, there is no other place I would rather eat if told I had one last meal. If you are lucky enough to sit outside on their porch during a cool evening (65-70) in early fall, nothing beats the ambiance of this charming little spot. I have always loved the food, but really it is the location. Tucked right next to a gorge looking at one of the quintessential New England covered bridges (haven't been back since the devastating flooding, so I am not sure the current state of the bridge), this is where I fell in love with Vermont and New England. If you have a chance to eat here while near Kilington or Dartmouth, I highly recommend it. Dinner is the best, but Sunday brunch is also phenomenal (and a more economical way to enjoy the ambiance). My family owns a competing restaurant in the area (and my dad always is a little miffed when I recommend this place first and our place second), but what can I say...they do it right. read more

Came here on a beautiful winter day for lunch. The view from the restaurant was fantastic and the place was bustling with tourists in for the holidays. I ordered the cheddar soup which had a mild flavor (my preference) and a really smooth and consistent texture. Great Meal, Fantastic Atmosphere. I've been to simon pearce a bunch and it has always lived up to expectations. The service is always great and the staff are exceptionally hospitable. If you're heading for dinner, you can really get a meal and an activity out of it. Walking around the shop and watching the glassblowers downstairs working their craft is really entertaining and educational. The facility is gorgeous and the river is beautiful - its a really nice place. The food is pretty good - not necessarily the highlight, but lives up to the experience. The warm bread they bring out at the begining of the meal was actually really great. The shortrib special we had was tasty and well plated. The artisan cheese appetizer was good, but not as intensely fantastic as cheese can sometimes be. The vermont chedder soup was tasty but unmemorable. The gnocci shrimp dish was really flavorful and I highly recommend it. We also really enjoyed the hot chocolate and icecream with caramel sauce at the end. I highly recommend it! read more
