Nice brew pub on the edge of downtown Bend. We didn't have any food, but we did enjoy the beer. Nice variety of beers to chose from ranging from Pilsner to sour ale to IPAs to porters. Initially the pub was a little warm(18 July), but it was taken care of once we told the wait staff about the temperature. They also have a nice outdoor patio for enjoying food & beer. I love Silver Moon. Its one of the lesser known Bend breweries, but it is high quality. They always have a number of delicious beers on tap (which they eagerly let you sample if you're having trouble choosing, which is always the case for me) and they serve some yummy food. Recently I had their Tropic Zombie IPA and I loved it! Very citrus forward, which I enjoy. Their Maibock was great as well. And the food is fabulous! I am particularly a fan of their tacos, specifically the beef one. Tender and flavorful served on great corn tortillas. Their pretzels are also amazing! But I was disappointed by the cheese sauce that accompanies them -- it was thin and kind of flavorless. Their fries are great, especially accompanied by their yummy ranch dressing. They also have awesome weekly events! I just went to a trivia night and was thoroughly impressed; it was super fun and I like that it started at 7pm. But definitely get here by about 6:30 if you want to get a table for trivia... Maybe even by 6:15... It is a popular place. read more

Great spot to stop at. The staff was super attentive! We peddled our little hearts out and the place is beautiful. Even on a hot 102 degree day in Bend. The outside patio area is wonderful. The Chicken Kebob at The Bob is delicious...it's not really a kebob but chicken, lettuce, tomato, cabbage and 2 different scrupulous sauces wrapped in a tortilla for easy eating...so good...highly recommend and the laid back atmosphere of Silver Moon definitely enjoyable...my husband's a beer drinker but I enjoy cocktails...not alot of food truck pods serve cocktails...but Silver Moon does...best of both world... read more

Another nice brewery that we haven't been to in ages. A large selection of beers, however half of them were IPA's (this the 4 stars). Not always my go to beer , but we have them 6 of them a try. In order, because of IBUs and strong aromas. SMB IPA, Simon Says Hazy IPA, IPA 97 and Adrift in the Dark Hazy IPA (I liked this one best). We also had a Solo Mission Pils and Panty Dropper Pale. Accompanied by pretzel knots. Everything was delicious. Service was great. Nice outdoor area behind the tasting room. Off the beaten path, but very walkable location from downtown. Weather permitting of course. Go there you must! read more

We were absolutely charmed by a great story we heard about how the founder bootstrapped his business. The stuff of legend. After purchasing some of their brewing gear Craig's List style, he was forced to pick it up in the biggest snow storm of the decade or risk blowing the deal altogether. After a grueling blizzard-condition trek up to the summit in Bend in dire fear of a breakdown, he saw clear sailing down the other side of the mountain. And up in the sky? You guessed it. A Silver Moon. The harbinger of great things to come. Despite a really great founding story, the vibe here at Silver Moon Brewhouse is noticeably dated. The sign out front says this place is family-friendly, however unlike a lot of brewpubs in Bend we visited, it really feels like a adult bar. In the main room, its a salmon color, features a disco ball, a cowboy theme, and pool-table green carpet. (I understand this place is all about the beer, and I respect that. I do however, find myself impacted by a space if I'm honest.) I do think the beer is good, even though the current brewery features a dreamcatcher vibe and disco ball. On the other hand, the bathrooms are perhaps a tad under-hygenic. This place has charms in the brewed form, so don't let that stop you from coming to visit. The beer is enjoyable here and the crew is friendly. It's A-OK, but with so many really distinctive spots in Bend to taste and eat, realistically it's got some ground to make up in the tasting room ambiance category. I was slightly intrigued that the air here hangs heavy with a distinctive smell of BBQed nachos from the second you walk in, despite no one appearing to be eating them when we arrived. I was full when I got here, so you'll have to tell us if the taste lives up the aroma. read more

This is a great divey brewery. It's a few blocks from downtown and is almost directly under the railroad tracks. Some evenings they have live music. Although I don't think either of the bands I saw playing will ever get a recording contract, they were entertaining. The beers I tried were great. They have an awesome little second bar to service the area and the noise is surprisingly muted for the location and didn't seem noticeable at all. Was visiting on a Friday at about 4pm... I think I was the only out of towner here.., the bar was filled with lilacs/regulars ... But the made me fill right at home. If I didn't know better, I would think I was there ever Friday after work. The Voodoo Dog ISR and the Crazy Horse IPAs are great beers!! The Rueben sandwich was good.. Typical Reuben. The service however is amazing!! There are 2 bartenders at the moment ... And both are amazing... Entertaining, friendly and a great server... All in 1.!! I happen to be staying on 3rd, this trip, and Silver Moon is walking distance, so a no brainer for a Friday evening. A must visit while in Bend. read more

A smaller microbrewery in Bend, Oregon. Small does not equate to atmosphere, ambiance, selection or comfort. The staff is always knowledgeable and very helpful with the beer selections. This is one of a few breweries that maintains a dark beer year round. We tried two new ones for us - Dark Side ordered as a "Moon Crater" a salute to Crater Lake Distillers Hazelnut Espresso Vodka which they add to the Dark Side. The nutty flavor of the vodka along with the smooth dark and creamy flavor of the beer go to an award winning option for me! The IPA, Hop Fury, had the highest IBU in the menu. It has a nice pine aroma at first whiff. The citrus is prominent but light on the tongue. The finish is strong and lingers for a smooth hop aftertaste. Both beers are great options and highly recommend a stop here if you are passing thru. It is not owned by the big boys yet can compete with the largess of their brew masters. read more

First stop on the Bend Ale Trail was a bit disappointing. We were treated like locals, as if we should know all about the place and its offerings. We weren't given a menu, then we we asked about the pretzels we read about in reviews. They were described as cheese topped with cheese and horshradishy-mustard sauces. They were actually drenched in butter, sprinkled with parm and the mustard in the sauce was actually mayo. The IPAs were just okay, the porter was weak, almost watery. Not a nice first impression, so a second probably isn't going to happen. read more

Wow saw this from Hwy 97 driving south in Bend OR. What a great outdoor patio! We landed here on a Monday when they practically pay you to have a beer. We loved Silver Moon! Such a great atmosphere and we loved the mango beer, wow! They have a cool mural behind the stage. This brewery is off the beaten track, so one can tell it is a locals type place. The open floor plan gives it a sense of space, and yet the exposed wood makes it feel like home. The salad I had was fresh and crisp and the amazing pulled pork tacos. The best part was of course the beer! I usually drink dark beers but I tried the mango flavored beer, wow, I was blown away. Visited from out of town over Thanksgiving. Ended up at SMB when another brew house / restaurant had a long wait. There were five of us and we got seated easily even though they were a little crowded. Not knowing the menu, we asked for recommendations and received honest responses - as verified by the rating for food... We were told we could fetch our own water at the end of the bar - which we were cool with. The food was really good and our waiter, Patrick was helpful, pleasant, and personable. Silver Moon is OPEN for business again; after being closed this past Summer for renovation. I just wanted to set that fact straight immediately, since my previous review was removed for supposedly having out-of-date info. (Even though I thought I was quite clear about their re-opening) Long story short: As part of a beer tour of Bend, I had walked several blocks out of my way to Silver Moon Brewing, after checking Yelp and the Silver Moon website. There was no obvious indication on either site that Silver Moon was closed; but when I showed up at their door (on a Saturday in August) they were locked up tight; a sign on the door said they were closed for renovation. That's what happened. I did not make it up. I was a little annoyed; and so I wrote the story up on Yelp at a later time. I said that Silver Moon was not "not adequately informing the public of their status". I still believe that a total lack of communication is a valid complaint against a business. But again, that was IN THE PAST. Please note, again, that SILVER MOON IS OPEN for BUSINESS. But I'm still not a fan. And considering this latest, er "development", I do not intend to visit them if I'm in Bend again. There are just too many brewpubs that I missed while here, and those have better ratings. Silver Moon has gotten much better lately and they're doing an awesome outdoor patio in stages. We've been coming here since the remodel and it was a bit of a slow start and not as good as expected. I understand there are kinks to iron out so I waited on leaving a review until I felt they were ready. Last time we went there was for an event with their neighbors CVT and they nailed it. Beer was good, food was great, service was fantastic and the outdoor area is absolutely awesome. Great job at getting all the pieces together! We will absolutely be back. read more
