Move ahead 3 years and we are back at the location on Washington across from The Children's Museum. So I am glad to be away from the parking police at the building across from the library. During the day, parking here has not been an issue, can't speak to evenings and weekends. See my earlier review for specific directions because you enter the parking lot from North Ave. which is a one-way street heading west. (first street south of the Naperville train station). Angel did an excellent job with my first waxing. She started by sitting down with me, asking me questions. We moved to the exam table & she explained the process every step of the way. She asked me frequently if I needed a break due to the fact that with the first waxing of a frequently shaved area, it may be quite painful. She explained that it will get better with more frequent waxings--when the hair becomes softer & more sparse. She also gave me good pointers on how to manage for the next several days after the waxing to avoid complications such as ingrown hairs, etc. I will definitely be back in the recommended time frame! read more

Could you barter for the service with beaver pelts? Because if so, that'd be a pretty sweet deal. Cyclical. **end sidebar** I've been seeing Angel (who owns Silky Smooth) on and off and then on again since The Great Waxing of 2009 (see previous review for full story... and full monty). I took a small break in 2010 and had been going to another area waxer who had slightly cheaper Brazilians and brow waxes... but then one day I looked in the mirror at my brows, which I was getting done about every 2-3 weeks at the time. **sidebar** I was getting them done that often not because I'm hairy, as I have a freakishly minimal amount of body hair to begin with, but because I like the way it feels on my Cro-Magnon forehead and I have a freakish obsession with NOT having body hair. Like, I can't fall asleep if there's hair on my legs- I will get up in the middle of the night and shave that ish off. **end sidebar** Anyway... where was I? Oh yeah- my brows! So I look in the mirror at my semi-freshly stripped brows and realize that they aren't really in any kind of shape anymore. I mean, at one point they were fine, but after such a consistent waxing schedule and that other waxing salon not offering any kind of shaping or tinting service, it was crystal clear that continuing with them would mean going through my normally very active life with a major case of the brow blahs. With that, I decided to pony up the (not much) extra bucks to see if Silky Smooth could work some magic and fix my sad sitch. I made an appointment with Angel, who had remembered me from my last lone visit the previous year and placed no judgement on my skipping town and the seeing another waxer on reg. **sidebar** I just have to say how much I appreciate the non-guilt trip... like to an exponential value kind of appreciation. Nobody wants to be made to feel like they're a delinquent when they're trying to pamper themselves. Plus, Angel's busy, and I'm sure needs my business to a degree, but for the quality of work I get from her vs other waxing salons, I'm really the one who needs her more. **end sidebar** So, now 2 years have gone by and I've been exclusively seeing Angel the entire time. She's been with with me through thick & thin, hair & bare, a break-up & a few shake ups, a new job, and SO much more. Last May I bought a waxing package from her for Brazillians. The package was $465 and it covers your brazillians for a year. And I know it might seem like a lot of money up front, but it saved me SOOO much time AND money in the long run and the best part was that it relieved the stress of having to evaluate whether I could 'let it go another week' to save on money, or to schedule around vacations, dates, or any kind of event where having a big brown beaver would be a noticable faux pas. It was nice that if I wanted to get the 12 new stray hairs that grew in waxed off 2 weeks after I was just there, I could do that and it wasn't going to run my broke ass another $55 bucks. My favorite thing about Angel, besides that I can schedule my appts via text (not having to talk on the phone = priceless), are the brows she bestows on me. She isn't like other fly-by-night waxing places where it only takes them 4 minutes to have you in, out, and paid. Angel takes her time and is meticulous in shaping every hair to fit and frame your face and eyes. Don't be surprised if the first time you go it takes around 40 minutes. **side bar** I go big and get the brow tint every time, too. My body hair, in addition to being sparse, is clear. Seriously. Most of my body hair is this odd blonde/grey see through color, and though it works for things like arm hair, looking like you have no brows is just creepy. I seriously look like a bug. So, Angel does that for me so I can go outside without make-up on and not scare people... which is nice of her. **end sidebar** In summation (getting formal), I know there are other highly regarded waxing spots in the area, but I choose to go to Angel because it's worth the extra $5 (and then some) for her technique, patience, expertise and dedication to the art. I had an Angel watching over me--literally--really I did--the owner of this fantastic business is Angel! This place was definitely off the beaten path--which is probably why I've passed it so many times not even knowing that it was there---it's in a commercialized house just across from the Dupage Children's Museum, near the metra station. Parking is in the back of the house. I've had ladyscaping waxes before--and this was by far the most relaxing. Angel is very personable and makes you feel at ease for something that you know is just gonna hurt, even after popping a few advil. I was happy that she didn't make me hold any yoga poses to get at the not so easy places. I like that she uses the electromagnetic wand light thingy after the waxing was completed---say no to ingrown hairs! After discussing the other services she does--I was pointing out to her this one stubborn blackhead that I had and she was kind enough to relieve me of my painful irritation. When making the appointment she had mentioned to take some advil or tylenol before hand to help with the discomfort. What makes this such a standout skin studio is that she genuinly cares about your safety from infection. Hence the other reviews and the huge vibro...don't be afraid it's to help you from steering clear of ingrown hairs. So thank you for thinking about pesky skin irritations which most other estheticians could care less with. Angel makes you feel totally relaxed and will even joke that you're not at a doctor's office. Love this place. Love Angel. Don't really love getting my hairs ripped out (esp. when I forget the Advil), but it beats shaving. I am NOT okay with taking a blade down there, no matter how sparkly the handle is. The price is reasonable and she is great at talking with you the whole time to distract you. Or if you're the type who just wants to lie there and silently go to your happy place, she will respect that too. I can't comment on how she compares to other places, as I was a waxing virgin before Angel, but now I am a waxing regular and will probably keep going even after bikini season. I had my first Brazilian wax yesterday; really that was my first wax of any kind. I've never had my any part of my body wax. Since I read all of the 26 reviews and they rated Angel highly, I'd thought I'd give it a try. Pros: EVERYTHING....her place is quiet, comfortable and intimate. Front the start she was VERY approachable and I didn't feel uncomfortable showing all....She talks to you throughout the entire process which for me was about 30 mins. It's a natural conversation; she makes you feel so comfortable. Of course there were parts that were uncomfortable (especially the middle), however once she takes off the wax paper, it only stings for about 2 seconds (she did numb the area before hand because she could tell how nervous I was). I'm definitely going back! I've found my one and only Brazilian wax technician. She says she does about 15 a day...WHEW! She's awesome I can see why! CONS: parking...if you're going south on Washington it's best to turn left on school street, then turn right on the next street and turn left before the stop light to get parking in back of her building. read more

I had my doubts about this place when I first saw it but I guess you should really never judge a book by its cover.I was worried about the pain and did feel awkward having someone besides my doctor and boyfriend so close to that area but Jamie was pretty awesome. It ended up not being as painful as I thought it would be and it wasn't awkward at all.
