Stay away. We spent around $3000 on paint when this team recommended that their paint was GREAT for cabinets. Only after we purchased all the paint did we realize that they recommend a 17 day cure time. This makes it almost impossible to use the paint on cabinets or paint cabinet doors on both sides. We ended up having to let the cabinets dry over a month with a fan on it as they instructed and the paint is still sticky almost 3 months later. Every time we take something out of our pantry, the paint peels off and there are indentation marks from anything remotely heavy. Photo has one small example. And no, I'm not a DIY-er who doesn't know what they're doing. We had a very professional painter do the work. He even called them multiple times to make sure he was doing everything right. We ended up having to get the paint color matched at Benjamin Moore to complete the job because we couldn't jeopardize the custom cabinets we just spent tens of thousands on. Highly recommend just doing that. And silk and sage refuses to return our unused gallons. Don't believe them. Maybe their paint is better for the art in their store and maybe walls but not for actual use in real home projects. read more

I purchased some Annie Sloan paint from S & S. I have limited paint knowledge and was dealing with a tricky piece of furniture. I just called and spoke to Brian. He was SUCH a big help in problem solving. I love this cute store and the friendliness and eagerness to help! They also have such a great selection of paint and materials. Go visit them! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Katie and Silk and Sage. Her work is perfection and she keeps you involved along the way to make sure everyone is on the same page with the progress. This helped keep me excited about my project. Such a kind and caring person who also has an admirable work ethic. I was lucky enough to take a workshop at Silk and Sage and I loved every minute of the class. It gave me all the techniques and confidence I needed to tackle a project at home. Silk and Sage also had all the tools and resources I needed to turn an outdated console desk into a statement piece. Katie made her self available for questions and guidance as I put my newly learned skills to work at home. I recommend the class to friends of all DIY levels. read more

Silk and Sage Design Studio is a magical place! The owner, Katy, is so incredibly talented, helpful, knowledgeable, creative, and so much more. I took two private classes with her to learn how to use Annie Sloan chalk paint for the first time. Her prices were fantastic and included the cost of paint, supplies, (use of) brushes, wax, and everything I needed for my "paint your own piece" project. I couldn't be happier with the way my project turned out! She taught me and helped me every step of the way with a smile on her face. I appreciate her so much! Also, if you do take her classes, you end up with a student discount and a punchcard, which is really cool if you need to go back and buy more supplies. Actually, I believe the punchcard is available to everyone! I highly recommend this business to anyone who is interested in learning to use chalk paint (or milk paint). She also has an eclectic assortment of gifts and novelties! Her classes are seriously fantastic- some of which are group, some of which are a one on one. (Totally up to you- see website for class schedule, pricing and details!) But if you're aren't interested in taking a class you can come in and she will consult with you on your project, explain everything, and walk you through it step by step. I saw her do it about 20 times while I was there and she is so sweet and helpful to everyone that walked through the door. She has a great personality and the perfect background for what she does. Super impressed. If you ever have any questions or just want to inquire, she will take all the time you need to answer questions and speak with you about your interests and needs. It was a great experience all around! Thanks Katy! read more

This place is the bees knees! I needed some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and found this gem on her website as a stockist. I take my son to Dragons Lair for Pokemon and this studio is only a block or 2 away. It is small, intimate and the person who owns it is as sweet as can be. I had used chalk paint, not Annie Sloan, previously and my piece turned out terrible! I didn't use Annie Sloan because I was scared of using the wax after the paint. The owner - knowing my fears - walked me through a piece that she was working on. I left there confident I could master an entry table and you know what...I did! It turned out amazing. I am even working on 2 more pieces right now! The studio carries so much Annie Sloan Chalk Paint as well as her brushes, which I have 2 now and they are a must have in my book. There are samples of the paint, so you can get a really good idea of what they look like on a surface. If there is a shade that Annie Sloan doesn't make the owner will walk you through mixing 2 or 3 different colors to get the perfect match! I cannot say anything but good things are Silk and Sage Design Studio - even if you live north or south I would travel here JUST for the amazing customer service. read more

Cute shop that sells annie sloan paint which I love but can only afford in moderation. Carries all the brushes and waxes and offers classes. They were open Sunday which was a huge bonus for me since that's when I got my urge to redo my entry area chairs. read more

I was researching Annie Sloan milk paint over several months, and I was happy to see a stockist appear in my neighborhood. Katie was very helpful and showed me samples. So friendly and Katie does an AMAZING job with everything she touches! Cute shop, too!

Had a vanity and mirror that belonged to my grandmother chalk painted and waxed. Not only did Katie do the project in record time, but it could not be more beautiful. We are so pleased with the results and quality of work. Hoping to bring her future pieces to beautify and bring up to date. Have also shopped for Annie Sloan paints and brushes at Silk and Sage as well. The shop is stocked with some really special finds and is a great place for unique gifts! read more

I have taken two workshops with Katie. We had such fun and I've learned so much that I can replicate at home. The shop is lovely with lots of buying options. Can't wait to take my third Workshop: chalk paint 202 read more

I have taken 3 classes with Katie now. What I loved most was not just learning new techniques and "tricks" to get the best results, but Katie encourages experimenting. She had great inspiration pieces and ideas. I had not completed some pieces at home because i wanted to be sure i understood waxing before moving forward. The classes gave me wonderful ideas to make the projects even "better." The small jars of paint can do a good sized project so it was fun to grab a new color i probably would not have tried otherwise. I bought some of the new weathered wood product to try on a pair of chairs to combine with some of the techniques I learned in class. I'm looking forward to taking another class soon. read more

I just took an Intro Chalk Paint Class with Katie and it was awesome. I am a newbie to the decorative painting scene and she was wonderful about answering all of my questions. I particularly loved that she didn't mind when I jumped ahead and asked about things that we hadn't yet covered in the training. I'd urge anyone to take a class because 1. It was very helpful and informative, 2. It was fun as you get to actually experiment with the paint, wax and different techniques. 3. You get a a discount for 6 months on things that you buy in the shop. I also selected the option that includes a book for a slight upgrade. I love this because there were several to choose from based on your ability/interest. I bought one that walks you through 40+ project options with a step by step guide. Highly recommend Katie, Silk and Sage, her product line and classes. read more

I just repainted a small side table there with a friend, and it was a wonderful experience. I am a painting newbie, but Katie was very patient with me and happily shared her knowledge. I had a great time and am now thinking about all of the other furniture I have that could use a new look! She also has really cute things for sale in the shop - many items found at vintage and antique stores - along with refurbished furniture pieces that she has repainted herself. Grab a friend, a couple of pieces of furniture to paint, and have fun! read more

After beginning a small project on my own at home, i decided it would be wise to take an Annie Sloan workshop. I had the pleasure of taking the chalk paint 101 workshop today at Silk and Sage Design. Katie is a fantastic instructor and sharer of her knowledge in chalk painting and the Annie Sloan products. And she was extremely patient with this newbie and made the class fun and relaxing. I am now ready and more confident about proceeding with my project and look forward to many more future ones. I also look forward to returning to Silk and Sage for future supplies, gathering more knowledge and tips from Katie, and a little shopping. She has some great finds there! Katie thank you again, that was a fantastic experience. read more
