We arrived only an hour before they closed, and I only saw about 1/4 of the vendors areas before they announced the 15 minutes till close. I ended up walking through the rest of it as quickly as I can and I didn't get to see everything. The prices vary widely, which makes sense, since items are priced by different vendors. I ended up purchasing a vintage frame holder, and I can't wait to go back!

It definitely leans toward the grotesque which makes for an interesting browsing experience. Creepy dolls, haunted masks, odd surrealist art, a lot of funky religious pieces. In regards to art, the prices seemed to be on the higher end although there is quite a bit of variety (a few hundred here, a few thousand there). I mostly focused on the art but if you're interested in smaller things, I'm sure you can find cheaper items. I did question some of the pricing -- there was a small dinosaur painting for over 3K! We were told it came from a children's museum. Seemed a bit steep nonetheless. I personally prefer to dig around small antique shops and score treasures for a low price. However, this place is just fun to browse. It's like a museum of ugly and interesting objects. If you're looking for a unique date idea, you've found it. Parents -- I wore my baby in a carrier and we had my toddler in a small umbrella stroller. Worked out fine. There's enough room to navigate without little hands grabbing super expensive objects (just keep a close eye, obviously). After our visit, I read some of the older negative reviews (10 years ago) where folks with strollers were kicked out and not allowed in. I guess they realized how much that policy can hurt them. Glad to see them wise up and start to accommodate families.

Now, the real star: the gluten-free baked goods. We tried four different things, cookies included, and honestly? I was stunned. The flavor, the softness, the balance, nothing felt like a "gluten-free compromise." It tasted like the real deal, maybe even better. Not overly sweet, not dry, not crumbly, just genuinely delicious pastries that happen to be gluten-free. I don't know what magic they're working in that kitchen, but this is easily the best gluten-free bakery I've come across. A must-visit, no question.

Every piece in the store appears to be intentionally curated. Maaribu melds a home and gift shop with an in house café and bakery, creating an experience that's both relaxing and memorable. According to Mable, my server, Maaribu is a combination of the word Marfa (Texas town that has the Prada store) and Malibu. The brand is often described as combining Marfa's creative spirit, Malibu's laid back lifestyle, and clean Scandinavian design. The shop portion of Maaribu is beautifully styled, featuring furniture, décor, books, and gifts that have a modern flare. All the items are easy to peruse and get drawn in. The use of color is playful and engaging. Maaribu's key highlight is its café and bakery. The in house café has an assortment of coffee, wellness beverages, and dedicated gluten free baked goods. I bought a Rose honey latte, which was divine along with a multi-layer pastry. Mable said customers enjoy the quality and flavor of the pastries...scones, muffins, cookies, brownies, and egg bites are frequent favorites. Importantly, the café is reported to be fully gluten free, which makes it a standout destination for people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities, without sacrificing taste or variety. The outdoor seating and patio area add to the charm, making Maaribu a great place to enjoy coffee and pastries on a nice Austin morning. After years in Austin, I finally discovered Maaribu--a modern, eclectic coffee shop and store. Every item is thoughtfully curated, blending a home-and-gift shop with a café and bakery for a relaxing experience. The name combines Marfa's creative vibe, Malibu's laid-back style, and Scandinavian design. The shop offers stylish furniture, décor, books, and gifts, all easy to browse and visually engaging. Maaribu's café is fully gluten-free, featuring quality pastries like scones, muffins, cookies, brownies, and egg bites, as well as wellness drinks and coffee. Outdoor seating makes it a perfect spot to enjoy coffee and pastries on a pleasant Austin morning. Wow...Maaribu!!!

Austin's Furniture depot is located on Burnet Road and offers a unique mix of new furniture, statement pieces, and items from local artists. This is not your typical furniture store. Surprisingly, the Austin signs are quite affordable. I asked Shawn one of the store managers, what do folks do with all these signs. He responded by saying the put them in their homes and businesses. One of the eye-catching items in the addition to the signage, are the abstract and unusual artwork covered in shiny glass. I love abstract anything, therefore, I was very intrigued. They also had some individuals featured in the pictures with bold and colorful features. Shawn was friendly, knowledgeable, and very pleasant. He asked what I was looking for and took time to point out some potential selections. It was an overall very engaging and pleasant visit. Will definitely drop in again...
