*Shady business practice. I was quoted one price for a product by the chat bot and placed my order. I received an email today from Alexa and she informed me that the chat bot gave me false information and offered a refund. I replied stating that we all make mistakes but the right thing for their company to do was to honor the information they provided. That's just what a non-shady business does. I received an email notice of my refund without further communication. It's tough to do the right thing but companies which thrive serve their customers better. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. read more

Moving to Austin from Chicago, I've been hard pressed for modern stylish furniture. The few stores around carry only catalogs. I had the opportunity in Chicago to visit many designer showrooms. So I asked the extremely rude guy here whether that was a possibility. He looks at me and my mom condescendingly and responds quite snidely. He thought I didn't know what I was asking for and that "all furniture ever is ordered only from a catalog" because apparently I "don't realize they're designer." Ugh, I hate attitude like that. Urbanspace's showroom is beautiful, it's employees knowledgeable and professional. But their prices --when compared against similar showrooms across the US which carry the same high-end, special order Italian furniture -- are simply not competitive. Case in point, Urbanspace quoted me a price $1,300 over several other stores for an Italian sofa. Why does Urbanspace price gouge to such an egregious degree? Urbanspace's prices simply aren't competitive enough to garner my business. read more

Parked in the bottom corner of one of the more recent developments along the 5th street corridor, Threshold is gorgeous: bonafide beautiful and funky selections lurk throughout, and for the vaulted ceilings and attached patio or veranda, somehow the interior still exudes a certain warmth. There are cool, definitively upscale items to be had, and a few additional knick-knacks that still exude mid century or modern cool while mildly patting down the pocketbook. In short, it's a hip room; there are a number of things that are out of my price range thus far and others that I'd consider socking a way the pennies to garnish, and still others that seem utterly doable at a moment's notice. We were here during a party, so suffice it to say that I'm eager to return when a little casual milling about is much more doable. And we did find a couple of items that we really fell for: there's an awesome collection of backsplash samples for the home renovator that are totally affordable, and some funky candelabras (still my band name in waiting) that begged for a closer look. No, we haven't bought anything just yet....but we've definitely been brought to the Threshold of same. read more

My husband and I recently attended their "Sip & Shop" event, which benefitted Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas. The staff were a plenty, and all wearing masks, which made it easy for us to stick around, and get all of our questions answered. We ended up purchasing a few items as holiday gifts for others (maybe one or two for us too), and then walked over to Codependent Cocktails for an espresso martini on their heated patio. The new layout at Urbanspace is well organized, and felt as if we could've spent the day looking through their fabric selections. Love that all of the staff is so friendly and always makes me feel at home when I'm shopping at Urbanspace. The two front desk girls are so sweet and always kindly offer me assistance with picking out gifts. The rest of the showroom team is great as well and very knowledgeable about the products they carry. UPDATE: Thank you for reaching out, I really do appreciate it. I've already purchased furniture so I won't be needing any assistance. I did want to mention that after asking the girls up front a question they did go and grab a sales associate but he didn't know if the couch i was looking at came in the color i wanted, he gave me him card and told me i could email him to reach back out. I just thought it was a little strange i was expected to follow up.. i would have preferred he take Initiative and follow through. Never say never but when you don't feel very comfortable in a space your not super eager to go back. For starters, go ahead and uncheck "staff wears masks" the two front desk girls were not wearing masks. That didn't stop me from shopping, i just kept my distance. I was really disappointment by the lack of customer service. I guess my expectations are too high. I believe if your a high end retail space than your staff needs to sell that same brand. I felt completely judged and unwelcome. I was going to actually purchase a few high end pieces for my new home but walked out solely on the feeling i got from the staff. I will take my money and my time elsewhere. I don't want to be a bother. To the owners, i highly recommend you coach your staff or your going to lose a lot of business. read more

Love Urbanspace Interiors. They really are the best design firm in Central Tx. designers are professional, versatile and experienced. Me and my dog love to visit the showroom. He gets yummy dog treats and I get to browse without pressurey sales people. You can see so many different styles, from the classics to the latest design trends. I went into this store because of an event nearby. I was less than impressed. The furniture was not comfortable and not very attractive. I wouldn't pay $25 at a garage sale for most of the items in there. The rooms seemed to be set up without thought on appropriate pairings. I'm not an interior designer, but it didn't look appealing to me. The people that worked there did not attack me as I walked in, which was nice, but if I had a question, they seemed to be unavailable. The prices were ridiculously priced. I can buy this stuff at Ikea for about a tenth of what this was priced at. UPDATE: after reading the rebuttal from Threshold, I tried to downgrade this to 0 stars, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. The food and drinks were at UrbanSpace and when I arrived in the showroom of Threshold, there weren't 500 people, there was one, maybe two who didn't work there. Also, I said event "nearby", as I would think UrbanSpace is "nearby" as it was next door, unless you are saying you are the same company. Oh, BTW, thanks for the vocab lesson. I love Threshold! They scour this gigantic world to ensure I am served only the best. The staff are beyond courteous and helpful... even with the most tedious of requests; they respectfully understand you have to live with this object every day. Located next to Austin's local favorite Urbanspace, Threshold is a fantastic option for condo dwellers and homeowners alike to deck out their spaces based off of their own personal taste. Each piece of furniture in this store is one-of-a-kind, and if you're a discerning taste like myself you like to have your stuff look like no one elses you know. This is hands down my pick for the best furniture store to shop at in Austin, and with its central location I always find myself looking in the window to see what new stuff they got in and that I need for my home. I fully intend on having them do the interior design of my new home when I finish it, and recommend them to anyone trying to personalize their own space to make it their own. read more

Nice store, but terrible customer service. I just built a house and am looking for all sorts of new furniture. I went into this store one weekend and requested information on some living room chairs and a dining table. I gave the sales associate my business card so that she could call me about the items I was interested in. That was 2 months ago. I never heard back from her. In regards to the comment above, I just recently went looking for Edgar Kelly Rugs at the referral of a friend and they most certainly have NOT "gone under." They are no longer located in Austin. In fact, they are located in Houston in the River Oaks area. Believe it or not, they had such a great selection I decided to make the trip. It was DEFINITELY worth the drive. They have an amazing showroom with a vast selection.. Edgar has even started designing his own custom rugs; and I can assure you if you don't find something in stock that tickles your fancy Edgar can draw you up something that will match exactly what you are looking for. No need to set an appointment or anything. I just walked in and he designed my rug immediately. We had it ordered and he even lent me a rug to use until mine came in. (it is being hand woven over seas as we speak :) ) All in all, Edagr Kelly Rugs surely isn't going under. They are up & running and FULLY OPEN FOR BUSINESS.
