I had the best experience last week at Heather Scott Home. My mom and I popped in to their new location across from the Domain. It's much more spacious than their old Arboretum store and they had such wonderful new home items. We are redoing a midcentury ranch home near the lake and have been unable to find a suitable piece of furniture for the TV to go on in the bedroom. My mom walked in and instantly found the piece she had in her mind all this time. We also found some really nice silk palms and a leather ottoman to finish out the room. As it turns out, the piece of furniture was too big to fit in a Suburban so we had to grab a U-Haul. It was near closing time, but Scott (the Scott in Heather Scott Home) told us he would gladly wait for us to return and help load it. We were really concerned about getting such a large piece of furniture out of the trailer once we got to the lake but the way Scott secured it and positioned it we were able to get it on a furniture dolly and inside in the blink of an eye. Everything we bought was perfect! It totally modernized the space while keeping within the mid century ranch vibe. The girls at the store also offered vendor information for the company who stained their concrete and called me a few days later with information on a Benjamin Moore paint color that I was interested in. I could not believe how helpful Scott and the salesgirls were. This was a great customer service experience and we are super happy with all of our purchases. I will definitely be back the next time I need something for my home. read more

I worked with the amazing team at Heather Scott Home and Design to help me design our brand new downtown Austin Condo. Since this is a second home for my family I was quite nervous about doing the project from afar. Their team not only got my style immediately they worked their magic within my budget. Design was not the only thing they did well, they were there every step of the way including being on site every day to accept deliveries and set up. When we walked in the first time it was immediately home. Many think using a designer is only for the rich with big budgets. In the end a great design team can keep you from making costly mistakes and can bring cohesiveness to your space. read more

I had a really positive happy time when I went into this store. Although it is not a big showroom, I think I liked every single piece of furniture! The store had a clean, calming effect which is what I would like my house to have. The staff was warm and friendly without being pushy. It seems they just really wanted to help me. Long overdue review for an incredibly disappointing interior design firm. I still get sick when I think of how much money I wasted for a service that I was so disappointed with. I was looking for help getting my first home together soon after I moved to Austin. I was a total newbie and I had no idea of how to proceed, so I thought they could steer me in the right direction. I was very open and flexible to different suggestions. Heather (and team) started out great. - I was really impressed after our first meeting and felt like they listened to me and were going to work with me to get a finished look i liked. But it all went downhill quickly from there (soon after writing the check, I guess). Instead of presenting options, they just handed me a final design plan. And I didn't like it at all! I was shocked by how different the design plan was from my description of what I was looking for. I actually thought they had mistakenly given me somebody else's plan, based on how wildly off-base it was. I called to check, and they assured me that was my design plan. When I said that I wasn't happy with it, they said they could work up another look if I paid more money. Needless to say, I didn't make the same mistake twice. I was so angry/stunned/ashamed when I realized that I basically paid them thousands of dollars to hand me what is probably their generic, one-size-fits-all design plan. They didn't provide me with any service at all, and yet I paid their full fee. They didn't work with me to find a solution at all (not coming up with a Plan B, offering partial refund, etc.). Just FYI, I have since learned that other design firms work in a very different way, - and usually for less money. They will offer floor plan options, color options, etc., and have discussions with clients to explain design plans and problem-solve together. It's a far better way to do business. read more

What an amazing store. Everything from the furniture to the lamps to the book ends are just gorgeous. The inventory is always changing so there is always something new and fantastic to look at. We hired Heather for her design services this last spring. She did an absolutely phenomenal job helping us with the design space for our living and dining room and we had so much fun working with her to pick out everything from the couch to the drapes. She understood our style and personality, and then came up with a final plan that was beyond anything I could have ever dreamed up! I had a horrible experience here and would strongly discourage anyone from hiring them for their design services. I paid them more than $9,000 for a "design plan" for approximately 1,000 square feet of my home. First, this price is astronomical, but I couldn't get them to answer a single question until I wrote them a check. I gave them some very specific parameters for my home. They completely disregarded everything that I asked of them, and then refused to refund one cent when I expressed my displeasure. For example, I have a cat and need to minimize surfaces that may invite scratching. They recommended upholstering literally everything- coffee table, footstool, storage items, a bench, bed, long drapes in every room, and my favorite- ten (10!) rattan chairs. In addition, I have a disability and cannot sit on some chairs- they put furniture I couldn't use in every room. I asked for their help w a built-in in one room- they put something else in it's place (and then put a built-in in a completely random place in a dif room). I asked them to cover a floor in one room- it was the only room they didn't recommend a rug. The list goes on and on... Steer clear! I have a couple of other firms I am really enjoying working with and would be happy to recommend (and with MUCH better prices). Message me! What a waste of a large sum of money. I feel naive, hurt, and deceived. I am consulting with an attorney. I'm updating this six months later to reiterate how upset I am by this business! Crooks! read more

I sincerely enjoy the experience I have every time I visit this store! All of the employees are helpful, professional, and friendly. I've shopped here the past two years in a row during the once-yearly anniversary sale and picked up some pieces at outstanding prices. Scott is super helpful and friendly and will help you load up anything you buy that will fit in your vehicle! I have also hired Heather Scott to help me decorate several areas of a new home that my husband and I are building. I have been thoroughly impressed and satisfied throughout every stage of the design process. Every time I have had a question or request, Raquel responds to me quickly with alternate suggestions and solutions. I can't wait to see the finished product in in about a month and I will definitely continue shopping at HSH to update and furnish my new home. read more

Heather helped me with interior finishes and did a fabulous job. The way she is able to pull a room together is awesome. She did a really good job of listening and utilizing some of my existing pieces. Plus, they are very service oriented. Would HIGHLY recommend them to others. read more
