Garment is a sought-after designer vintage shop in Austin. Located on South Lamar, the shop offers a carefully curated collection of high quality women's vintage pieces. The selection embodies fashion forward vintage including well preserved and visually appealing garments. Garment has a boutique rather than a thrift shop persona. I like that clothing was loosely hung on the racks for ease of perusing the items. Bailey, the sales representative, was super patient and kind. She happily showed me anything I wished to see in the store particularly those pieces that were under lock and key. She also offered to reach out to a jewelry designer for different ring sizes...so kind of her. Garment Modern + Vintage is a great destination vintage aficionados and fashion enthusiasts. The pros are that you'll see a wide range of vendors - from clothing and jewelry to music and furniture....and plenty of kitch. The price ranges are pretty broad. I bought an $8 necklace but sorted through a bunch of Coach bags ($200 - $300), and some super cool upcycled pieces ($175 - $250). The crowd was pretty small, and some decent deals were to be had later in the day if you asked. Overall, there was a high clothing to other things ratio on this particular weekend. I bought a pink maxi tule skirt, a pair of possibly too low rise lightweight pants, and 2 necklaces. My kid bought a pair of shorts, a sweater vest, a small fish pin, a CD, and an embroidery art piece. I had fun and I'd go back.

Score. The prices are reasonable and the selection is varied. It's a very welcoming place and I can't wait to bring friends and shop again. I was visting a pet store and was surprised to find an eclectic cute boutique shop so I stop in…read morefirst as I enter the store how the store had two 4ft stuffed lamas. How well made they were looks like good quality. Then I saw a very unique large peice of thick wood with 4 or 5 very large bulbs wrapped hanging like a a chandelier. Very cool indeed as walked through the store there so many beautiful things all throughout the store. I did find a porcelain baby bath tub and it looked like an antique sells for about 250.00 price tag but well worth it. I truly love there choices for clothing but forgot to bring my purse in. I definitely will return so many very unique items they carry. As I shall return and get the candles with a wonderful heavenly scented. Parking very easy and will visit soon really like to but the cow skulls so beautiful...mirrors are impressive. I could hangout there for hours and not be bored. Lotus Gallery was an unexpected discovery. This gallery focuses on Asian art, antiques, and…read morehigh-end pieces. They also have a selection of furniture, jewelry, sculptures, and works of art. Lotus Gallery is connected to West Chelsea gallery. When you walk in it has the appearance of an antique store as many of the items appear aged. The number items in the room appear greater than the amount of space. However, upon closer viewing you can tell some of these pieces are ancient and the setting is perfectly representative of the pieces. The phrase, "you break it, it's yours" comes to mind when you meander through the store. Some of the items are truly ancient and can range to over $100K. Quite honestly, even if I could afford a $100K piece, I would be petrified to be around the piece in fear of my clumsy self breaking it. Lotus gallery has garnered quite a prestigious reputation due to the uniqueness and age of their curated pieces. I was instead surrounded by museum quality asian antiquities, some priced at well over $100k. It felt like being inside a museum where everything just happened to be for sale. In my pre judgement bias, I became suspicious the employee would want no part of me if he thought my pockets weren't deep enough. I couldnt have been more wrong. John, the owners son, had a limitless supply patience for my questions. I was so in awe of everything around me I spent 3 hours inside the gallery that first day, asking him dozens of questions. I was charmed to find that the gallery also had smaller and more affordable pieces, literally something for everyone at almost every price point. Every variation of Buddha from every age, vases, bronzes, busts, statues, jewelry, furniture and textiles can be found here. I fell in love with and ended up purchasing a nine, yes NINE () hundred year old Chinese bronze vase from the Song dynasty. John ended up being more than willing to negotiate on the price which put it into my price range. In conclusion, you get the feeling that this store is truly a passion project for the owner and her son John.
