I've been practically blind all my life, so i've had more optometrists than i can remember. They had all been average, so i kept changing every year. But after experiencing Dr Candace Kuo, I'm going to be a lifer with her! Every optometrist can 'do the job', but Dr Kuo truly cares that you are absolutely happy with your vision, and SHE'S FUN and WARM! Her mother is also the receptionist, and she's also the greatest. Dr Kuo bends over backwards to make sure you are happy with your glasses or contacts, and also let me make appointments at convenient times. She gives blunt, honest advice, has a great eye for picking out frames that look great on your face (Dr Kuo and her mom were both great style consultants), and doesn't try to sell you stuff you don't need. You can't go wrong with Dr Kuo. The store is cozy & personal (not sterile-feeling like the big chains) and also carries really up-to-date, stylish frames (but not unaffordable). All in all, perfect customer service, smart/sweet/honest doctor and great rates!!! And you'll ENJOY going there! read more

Based on the great reviews by fellow Yelpers, had my first appointment with Dr. Kuo last nite. She was incredibly personable and quite thorough. They have a fairly large selection of glasses, which she will personally help you decide which ones are "cute" enough. And the hours are super flexible. With VSP, pricing was also really reasonable. One weird thing - they prefer to take cash/check instead of a credit card. I didn't have a check, but they didn't charge me anything yet, and are letting me pay when I pick up my new frames. I've never been satisfied with any eye doctor before so I have never stayed with a single eye doctor for more than 2 years. Either the doctor was cold and uncaring or I find the staff too pushy when it came to selling. But I can finally end my search here with Candace. I have seen her twice already for yearly checkups and both experiences were super pleasant. She has an awesome personality, explains everything she does thoroughly and answered all my questions and more. Plus there's no sales pressure! Her mother, the receptionist, was also wonderful. I had wanted an appointment earlier in the month, but they were booked. But she called me at two different times before my scheduled appointment to tell me there was a cancellation to see if I'd be able to make it in. Awesome service! read more

Dr. Kuo's extremely high quality service is the reason I created a Yelp account -- so I could write my first review. Dr Kuo has helped me with new glasses twice now and once with contacts, and all times went above and beyond to help me. The first time I bought a pair of glasses that I had difficulty getting to fit right...they were either too tight or too loose. After many, many free adjustments -- Dr. Kuo had them feeling great. With the contacts, Dr. Kuo's office was incredible again. It was my first time trying contacts and the Dr. was extremely patient with me helping me to learn how to put them in, and letting me try every variety of contact under the sun -- sending me home with about 5 different trial sets. I decided not to get contacts in the end, and Dr. Kuo's office was totally cool about it. The real clincher -- when I got my latest set of specs, I stupidly broke the lenses playing basketball -- totally my fault. It would have cost 150-200 to replace them (they were fancy!) but Dr. Kuo's office covered the lab bill. I couldn't believe it, and it was such a relief! read more

I became a new patient of Dr. Kuo a few months ago. I wear contacts with a few issues. I was tired of using reading glasses so she patiently worked with me to find the perfect solution. Also, her exam was very thorough and informative. I was so impressed with her that I took my 11 year old son to her for contacts. Again, he was given a thorough exam and then she worked very hard to find the perfect contacts for him.. Her staff also patiently helped him learn to insert and remove them. In additional to being a great optometrist, Dr. Kuo is very kind and friendly. Her staff is also wonderful. My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Candace Kuo for 6 years now because of how well we like her. It seems her business has really grown in that time--and with good reason! She's nice and fun to visit with during the check up (without being too chatty). Dr. Kuo and Dr. Phan are awesome. During the exams they explain everything thoroughly and are good about answering all my questions. They have a good selection of frames and are helpful with picking out frames. So far I've had two pair of lenses made here and both were perfect the first time. My only complaint, as others have mentioned, is that some of the staff can at times seem less than interested in helping you, so you kinda have to speak up when you need something, but other than that I really like coming here. read more

One of my chronic difficulties in life is finding a pair of glasses that fit well. I've been to many optometrist offices, but no one could seem to help me. When I first visited Dr. Kuo's office, I fully expected the same disappointing experience. To my surprise, Dr. Kuo's office is great! Several months ago I went to visit Dr. Kuo based on a recommendation from a friend. I primarily wear contact lenses but my eyes had been consistently red and painful. I was really concerned I had somehow damaged my eyes throughout years of contact use. Previous optometrists I had visited had made it abundantly clear their practice is based upon volume......get as many patients in and out as quickly as possible to maximize income. Dr. Kuo spent an extraordinary amount of time with me with a very thorough and comprehensive exam. She even spent time explaining what was going on with my eyes (apparently my old lenses were so thick my eyes weren't getting enough oxygen, so to compensate for this they produce more blood vessels to increase oxygen supply.....resulting in constant red eye). She let me try several new brands and together we picked out one for me. Both her and her mother (who works as the receptionist) also spent time helping me select a new pair of glasses, and their hours are very convenient for those of use who need to come in evenings. All in all it's nice to find an optometrist who cares and goes the extra mile for her patients. read more

My family goes to Dr. Kuo - she definitely has styles! The frames she picked for both my husband and me look great on us. She not only made sure the prescription is right, but is also extremely strict with the lab work - my glasses were sent back to be re-done twice because of scratches the lab made which would probably go unnoticed by myself initially - and I really appreciate that! My picky husband's also had 3 fittings with his contact lenses - he's never seen clearer with his contact prescriptions. Solid 5 stars. read more

She is great I have been going to her for years. When it is busy she can be a little flaky. Her office is open at hours that it is easy for someone that works 7am-7pm M-F. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH DR. KUO FOR YOUR EYE CARE! My husband and I just moved to the bay area and have been looking for an eye doctor. Luckily we found Dr. Kuo! First, the appointment process was super easy. The staff managed to fit us in Dr. Kuo's first availability, reminded us of all documents that would be needed, and made sure that our insurance would work. She also made a reminder call two days before our appointment. The office is large, bright, and clean. The staff - Connie and Grace - are very friendly and sweet. They attended us as soon as we walked in and helped us fill out all the forms. Waiting time was minimal. Dr. Kuo is just amazing. She is patient, knowledgeable, attentive, kind, and super friendly. She did a thorough eye exam on me and my husband, explained what she was going to do and what the results were. This really made us feel very comfortable since we also got to know the health conditions of our eyes. You can tell she really cares about the patients. She made good and honest recommendations on products - actually she suggested us to keep the original contact lenses and did not push us to buy anything. We ended up buying two new pairs of glasses based on our own desire, and Connie was very helpful in the process. Again she did not push us on those expensive glasses. Instead, she was like a good friend helping us to find the pair that really looked good on us. (We spent a lot of time deciding and she was very patient.) We were very happy with our choice and left with satisfaction and happiness. We will continue going to Dr. Kuo for our eye care and all eye products that we need. So happy! P.S. Dr. Kuo's native language is English, but she does speak good Chinese Mandarin. So if you have the language preference, she is the one! read more

After various efforts with Costco and online to replace my 8-year old foggy and scratched glasses I finally broke down and went to see Candace based on the Yelp recommendations. And she did a great job! Took a couple of iterations to get the right lens combination, which is far more to do with my eyes and the small, graduated bi-focals I insist on having than anything about Candace's skill. But now, for the first time in years I have crystal clear, good looking glasses that are great! Being self employed I don't have VSP or other vision insurance, so she was kind enough to offer me a discount as well. Still not cheap, but well worth it! Highly recommended! read more

I went there for the first time to get contacts today and they gave us a nice welcome when we came in. As we went through the process of getting contacts, all of the staff was very sweet, nice, and patient. It felt to me like they knew exactly what they were doing and were very efficient. When I tried my contacts on for the first time they took me step by step on how to take care of them, put them in my eyes, and common mistakes that people make when using contacts. The whole time they were very friendly and made me feel extremely comfortable. I look forward to going there next week for them to check on my eyes. :) read more

I came in to have the nose pads replaced on my glasses. I had never been to Sight optometry before. The wait was short and they were helpful, courteous and awesome! The person who made the repair put in 2 new pads, let me try them on and made the requested adjustments based. She even noted where the marks from the old pads were on my nose. When I got them back the second time they fit just like they always did. I am likely to come back for all my eye care. read more

I had a great experience going to Dr Candace.This was my first time going to the optometrist in this country so i dont have a frame of reference but i can say that Candace was very thorough and very informative during the eye exam. She and her mother (assisting her)a re very nice and friendly people. I was late for the appointment and they had to wait late in the evening but the were very understanding. They have a very good selection of trendy glasses - frames and what more they were helping me pick a frame so late in the evening. The eye exam was great a few months ago. I did feel a little pressure to order the most expensive glasses and frames, but they're sales people. I get it. The process to order contacts was HORRENDOUS! I went in a little over 3 weeks ago to place an order. There was a nice older lady who took the order. I went in for 6 months' worth, but she suggested 1 year. A little annoying, but now I'm glad, because I will not be back! She told me that they were in stock and would be at the office in 2 days. She gave me a box for my right eye, since they were there. A week goes by and I don't hear anything. I go in to ask about my contacts. Whoever was at the front desk acted as if they had no idea what I was talking about. But they said they'd call me when they came in. Another week goes by and I call before going in. Some girl tells me that they are back ordered, but will be in soon! Seriously?! Why was this not relayed to me when I ordered them? I asked if they would be here in time for Christmas as I'm leaving out of town, and it's been over 2 weeks at this point. Yes, she said. Another week goes by, still no contacts! I called this past Monday. Still back ordered, and again they pretend first that they don't know what's going on. Another woman gets on the phone and said just kidding, not back ordered, and they would figure it out. She called me at 8:30pm that night and said that the contacts would be in the next day (Tuesday) after 12:30pm. Imagine my surprise when I go to pick them up, AND THEY'RE CLOSED ON TUESDAYS! I go in today at 10:30am, and once again they act as if they don't know what's going on. Two people tell me they're looking in the back. Then I hear the woman who called me on Monday night tell the older lady to tell me they should be in today by 12:30pm. At this point, I'm beyond heated. The older lady is clearly their buffer when they don't want to give bad news. I call back today at 2:15pm to ask about my contacts. "When did you order these?" WHAT?!! I tell them over 3 weeks ago. They put me on hold and put the older lady on the phone to tell me that they're now in the office. I finally picked up my contacts today. I will NOT be back. Now that I have my prescription, I'll just order from LensCrafters when this supply runs out. It's a shame because the eye exam was pleasant. The office staff needs an overhaul. read more

My mom had an eye exam and got her glasses there several months ago. The glasses never worked out, and she had a very hard time reading or watching TV for long periods of time. The doc seemed competent and professional, and even ordered another pair of lenses for her, but same result. She now has a new prescription (from another doc) and glasses from lenscrafters, and she can see a whole lot better! I would not buy eyeglasses there again. read more

Staff was helpful, but their prices are crazy. They charge 30% over MSRP for a pair of Oakley frames. Wouldn't work with me or adjust price after asking why I could buy the exact same thing direct from Oakley for much less. read more

I'm a pretty easy going person but I must say that my experience with Dr. Kuo was disappointing. You walk into a small, dreary waiting room that's decorated with very used (and dirty) Ikea chairs. I was too uncomfortable to sit in them! The eye exam itself was fine -no complaints- but it was also nothing extraordinary as compared to other doctors I'd used in the past. In addition to that she was EXTREMELY pushy about selling me new lenses even though I didn't need them. Maybe she had a bad day. Maybe her cleaning service was absent and her decorator forgot to show up but overall it was a very bad first impression. I will not go back there again nor would I recommend her to anyone. read more

Dr. Kuo was great! She got me in on short notice when I accidentally scratched my eye. She gave me a very thorough examination, calmed my fears (the scratch would heal), and gave me a prescription and carefully described how it should be used. She also called in the prescription special to Kaiser so my insurance would cover it. After this great service, I decided to also get a pair of glasses from her. She and her mom were so helpful in working with me to pick out the perfect pair. I have terrible eyesight, so I usually hate my coke-bottle glasses, but Dr. Kuo was able to help me select a pair that hides how thick the lens are still look fashionable. I am a very difficult optometry customer. I really care about how sharp my vision is, and I am old enough to have trifocals which are difficult to fit correctly. AND, when I went to Dr. Kuo (after moving to the area and finding her on Yelp), I was having weird problems (due to opposite changes in my prescription in my two eyes, it turned out) which made things look very different at night and in bright sun. Dr. Kuo was fantastic. She spent a long time with me, tried hard to get the prescription right, then had me come back at two different times of day to check it out. She also gave good advice about what frame to get. The glasses turned out great. I haven't seen this well in years. She and her mother (her receptionist) are nice, friendly people who really try to give everyone what they need. You can;t go wrong here. read more
