For multiple visits I had no complaints and things were good. But recently, the disorganization seems really bad. A call 20 minutes before my visit that it's canceled because a machine was broken. Next week they do the test but schedule another visit to go over the results. When I came back for the results. They didn't have them ready because the laptop that had them was in a different city? Also, I kept getting talked over to the point where I'll probably go somewhere else. Yes I have Medi-Cal but I also refuse to use it to go to a Medi-Cal clinic. So deciding for me that I'm going to a clinic and basing care on something I never said I would do makes no sense. She said she wouldn't give me eye drops because of the Medi-Cal clinic tests. Well I'm not going so I probably should have eye drops? read more

I saw today again Dr Yang and I still love her. Kind and helpful, trying to find the best progressive glasses fit. I would also ad, for those that made a bad experience with the rude girl at the front, she isn't working there anymore! Yeah! Honestly I would have gone somewhere else for my glasses but when Dr Yang told me that she isn't a staff member anymore, I thought ok I'll try again and I was very positively surprised. The person that helped me with my glasses/frame war very nice and helpful. So perhaps you should give them a chance next time when you need glasses ;). The eye exam and care was mediocre. I found it to be lacking communication and thoroughness. What really disappointed me was that they charged a higher price when I went to pick up my glasses than what was mentioned when I placed the order. I was told my insurance would cover a portion of the cost of a new pair of sunglasses. I picked a Ray-ban glass whose list price on the manufacturer's website was $265+taxes. Including all insurance rebates, I was told my cost would be $95 at pickup. I agreed and placed the order. However, when I went to pick up my glasses at a later date, to my surprise, I was told my cost (after insurance) would be $260 - more than 2.5x the original estimated cost. When I pointed out the discrepancy between this and what I was verbally told, they did reduce their price after some back and forth negotiations. However, I had to still pay $140 out of pocket. My suggestion - pay attention to their pricing to avoid being over charged. If possible, get your cost in writing at the time of placing the order to avoid being over charged and surprised later. read more

I scheduled an appointment with precision eyecare centers for a routine eye exam, come the day of they told me that they didn't see my appointment on the system and couldn't see me. They then asked me when I scheduled my appointment, and when I told them I had scheduled it the week before, they told me that that could not be possible since they've been booked out for a few weeks. Very frustrating to say the least- treated me like I made the whole thing up and wasted my time. If you ever decide to schedule anything with this place, ask for an appointment confirmation. read more

I am a 15 year customer of Precision Eyecare. I always get my prescription and pick up glasses/contact lens during my visit because it is convenient. I am still very happy with Dr Chinn but would recommend think twice to enlist service from him and/or his office. In short, I am not sure you will get your correct glasses or prescription when ordering through this office. My loyalty to Dr Chinn as of today is losing to my negative experience dealing with his front office. Here is what happened... It took 3 weeks just to book an appointment with Dr. Chan through front office in May 2021. Well, it is Covid time, isn't it? Then it is another few weeks waiting before my appointment (this is normal). I finally saw Dr. Chan on June 2nd and today on September 14, I still do not have my contact lens and/or glasses. I am sure it is not due to Covid but an disorganized front office. You can see details below. I started following Dr. Chinn since 2004/2005 at his office on Bernal then later at Mountain View office. His service is always professional and he is a super nice person. I trust him and recommend him with all my heart. But getting an appointment with him in May 2021 was difficult. I called 5 time in 2 weeks' time but only got the message box. I left messages for the office to call me back but nobody called. I then resolved to get to a live person since I liked Dr Chinn. After about 1 week and multiple calls, I finally got someone pick up my call and got an appointment on June 2nd. After a pleasant visit with Dr. Chinn, I picked up a pair of frame, placed my order of glasses and left with my trial contact lens. After a month without any update on my glasses, I called in early July to check on the status of my order. Nobody in the office can tell and had to call me back. Then I got a message in two days that my frame was misplaced and no record of what frame I picked. I had to go into office to pick another one. I went and picked another frame. The office was graceful to cover the cost difference between these two frames. On this visit, I also placed my order of contact lens. Another month has passed. In August, I still did not hear anything since my visit in July, I finally called the office to inquire on the status of my orders. The front desk told me the glasses has come in but was returned to be fixed due to some quality issues. They cannot tell me the status of my contact lens and had to call me back. Then I got a message asking to confirm my contact prescription! The message stated it was because I had 2 contact prescriptions on file and they cannot tell which one was correct! I was shocked! This is unprofessional. When they read the prescriptions to me, I can easily tell the other one was my old prescription from my visit years ago. I called back on day after to confirm my contact order was placed. The office confirmed it was placed. Another month passed. No call on the arrival of my glasses or contact. I called today again. This is 3 months after I placed my order of glasses and 2 months after my order of contact lens. My glasses is finally ready but .... but they needs to confirm my prescription of contact lens again! since " no record of confirmation of prescription or order placed" and no word of apology. I can only laugh at myself letting this going on for so long. I do not think my loyalty to Dr Chinn can outweigh the unprofessional behavior of this front office. Also I do not think there will be improvement since I asked multiple times for Dr Chinn or office manager call me back and still waiting for that call. Please think twice before your visit. read more

I'm giving this eye care center a 5 stars! They did great and was very friendly! And they accommodated my request to see if they can expedite my prescription glasses because I'll be out of the country from November 25th to January 16th so I need my glasses before leaving the country. They told me it takes about 2-3 weeks for regular wait for the glasses to be ready but they expedited my glasses and I'm really really happy that they able to do it. And Lisa was very friendly! Please! If you are planning to go in this place, look for her and she will give you so many options and great service! read more

I was looking for a local optometrist in my area b/c my eyes have been very dry and I have poor contact lens habits (don't rub/clean them at all like the dirty dude that I am, accumulate protein, leads to dry eyes, etc). I'm covered by VSP vision insurance and was looking for an in-network doctor and was VERY fortunate I decided to call Precision Eyecare who set me up with the great Dr. Redman. Before we go any further, you guys should note that I'm not a very frequent reviewer here. I'm certainly no professional Yelp reviewer who does this for free stuff or social media street cred - I only take the time out of my busy day to write reviews for people/businesses who actually deserve it and perform to a standard that I can put my name and reputation behind. Back to Precision Eyecare - When I first contacted their Mountain View office, the receptionist Maria (or is it Mayra?) was super helpful, professional and attentive to my situation. She was very patient about my many questions, ranging from whether they accept VSP, if the doctor can evaluate if I'm eligible for Lasik, etc. She even took the time to research what my full out-of-pocket cost would be and happily called me back with the info. Needless to say, I made the appointment. The MV office is easy to find and located in a fairly large plaza close to a CVS. I was greeted by Mayra who had me fill out the standard patient form and I was taken to another room by another assistant (sorry, I'm terrible with names) who did some testing on me using some advanced sci-fi looking equipment. I was then taken back into a room where was I was seen by the legendary Dr. Redman himself (and no, not the rapper who starred in the movie How High with Method Man. That's a different Redman). Now pause here guys, let me tell you something. With regard to any of the reviews you've read before this one that praise Dr. Redman's professionalism, his patient-centric approach to medical care and incredible attention to detail, his deep and vast knowledge of all things related to the science of optometry -- you can go ahead and believe the hype, everything you've heard about this man is true. From beginning to end, I had a remarkable experience with the Doctor. He has a warm and friendly demeanor that immediately made me super comfortable throughout the entirety of the eye exam, I cannot recommend Dr. Redman highly enough! Here's the kicker - as we were wrapping up the eye exam, the doctor asked me if I've ever been covered by my vision insurance out of "medical necessity." Of course I hadn't, I was like huh, what's that? Well, the good doctor told me that since my vision is so poor (my prescription is negative 10.75 for eyeglasses and negative 9.5 for contacts) that my insurance might cover me 100% with a deductible. All that needed to be done was for the receptionist was to run a quick calculation. Please note, that NONE of my previous optometrists have EVER notified me of this and no this isn't some recent development in California law or something, this "medical necessity" exemption has been around for a long time. Apparently these other lesser optometrists were too lazy or just didn't care to see if I qualified for free contacts due to my vision being so damn awful. So the good doctor leaves the room, then returns and tells me "guess what, it worked! Free contacts for you for a year!" So I was able to get the more expensive 1-day/throw away contacts that are better for my eyes and will help with the dry eye condition that prompted my visit to begin with! So not only is Dr. Redman and the entire Precision Eyecare staff best in class, but the guy is an honest man and does ethical business as well! Nobody at Precision Eyecare at any point in time pressured me to buy a bunch of stuff I didn't want or need and the good doctor did his best to help me receive the full extent of care that I qualified for under my insurance. Listen guys, not a single optometrist in my 30+ years of going to eye doctors has EVER done something like that for me! A big time THANK YOU to the one and only Dr. Redman and the entire Precision Eyecare crew! read more

I've been going to Dr. Chin and Dr. Redmond for at least 15 years. They have been the best and even helped me through a couple of eye emergencies. They were the first ones to ever get my prescription right. I am unusually far-sighted and since the beginning saved me from having to wear readers on top of my lenses. Thorough, polite, and sincere. My first visit upon recommendation was the Dr Redmond. I am so said he is no longer there as he was straight forward and amazing. My next visit was with Dr Chin. He was so friendly and felt very straight forward. I too felt comfortable and I was being taken care of. Afterwards I had to find and be fitted for glasses. Raquel helped me in this area. I selected glasses I thought would fit me but she showed me how to properly select glasses that would fit my face and still look stylish. Raquel was very friendly and made me laugh where it made me feel great and had fun selecting my glasses even with a mask on. I did not feel rushed as Raquel was very patient with me and answered all of my questions. When I came back to pick my glasses up and put them on, I knew they were the right ones for me. Had a great experience here. I saw Dr. Salgado and she was wonderful -- very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining what she was doing and why during my appointment. I felt totally comfortable throughout the appointment. I came for a check up and because I was interested in getting computer glasses (my first pair of glasses ever) and I really had zero idea what I was doing or what kind of frames I should be looking for. Long time customer however making glasses here is a pain. I made a glasses few years back it took a long time and the glasses came back with super thick glass, which is much thicker than the one I had, I ended up didn't use it. Now I want to try again, ordered a pair of glasses 5 weeks ago but still not done yet? It was promised to be done in 2-3 weeks. Called them twice and each time promise next week but never happen! How about I give you a clue, follow up on your glasses for your customers don't let us keep waiting and calling to check it up! I made a pair of glasses in JINs and it only took one day, lower prescription took few hours, why are you guys stuck in the 70s? And after I called don't you feel the urgency to check on my order to make sure it does come on the time that you promised? read more

I have pretty bad eyes so having a solid optometrist is very important to me. They accept most insurance and tell you about any additional charges up front which is fairly unique for me. They also point out what you have available through insurance. I was very happy with how precise my vision test was and my glasses turned out great. They usually give me a headache but these are the first glasses that make me feel good wearing them. All around everything I want from eye care. read more

I liked this place when I first went there for my contacts a couple years ago. So I returned to get my new glasses. Exam was great and all seemed well when I selected glasses that I needed for a trip in 3 weeks which they assured me was plenty of time. After a couple weeks I not heard anything so I called to check status. I left voice mails 2 days in a row with no call back. Running out of time, I went into the store to ask what was going on. After waiting a long time I was told that the optician was not there because she was ill or on vacation that day and they would have her call me. I ask yet again what was this status of my order my order and they could tell me nothing. I told them I would not leave until they gave me an answer. Finally they said there was a quality control problem at the manufacturer and there would be a delay. Ok, fine. Mistakes happen, but why didn't they tell me that days ago? After another 10 days I called again and they said the optician would call me back the next day. Didn't happen. Went back into the store and asked for status again. They told me they could cancel the order if I wanted. I asked again for a status of my order for which they had given multiple explanations and avoided a straight answer for weeks. Finally they admitted the order was never submitted. "It was a new girl who had only been here a couple weeks." Seeing a pattern? I finally did after giving them multiple opportunities to make things right. There is a clear, irresponsible and repetitive pattern of mismanagement and unwillingness to acknowledge a problem to a paying customer. Just multiple attempts to deflect blame onto others. I made my first vision appointment here based on proximity to my home and moderate yelp reviews. I was seen by Dr Tracy, the best optometrist I have met to date. She patiently listened to all my concerns, and proceeded to perform the routine checks promising that she will address them after evaluation. Along the way, she explained each step, its outcome as it applies to my eye condition, offering many helpful general tips along the way. At the end, she addressed to all my concerns one at a time. Wow, I was super impressed with her attention to detail to remember all the queries and have them answered. The office staff are courteous and performed all the eye testing thoroughly. They offered dilation vs laser photography for having a detailed look at the retina, and explained the differences upfront. They never focused to sell the frames or glasses over the client's true needs or interests. Such a pleasant experience to interact with the office team. I immediately made appointments for my other family members. Highly recommend Dr Tracy for her attention to detail, thorough examination, helpful tips, and professionalism. read more

I accidentally popped a lens out of my eyeglasses while I was shopping at nearby CVS. I wasn't able to get my lens back into my frame myself. I noticed Precision Eyecare Centers, and walked in with my broken sunglasses. Maggie and CeCe greeted me warmly, and CeCe took my glasses and fixed them lickety-split. She said that the lens was a little loose in the frame, so she used some heat to get it to stay in place. Then she gave me back my repaired glasses. No charge, no hassle. 5 stars for the excellent and friendly service. I will be back. read more

I had few appointments there. Some doctors are fine some are not. Staff weren't good. Last week I visited a doctor with eyes pain. Eye check took few minutes. The doctor said pain is due allergy. He prescribed for me drops that aren't covered by my insurance. and cost over $200 without it. That is Ok. I asked pharmacist to contact my doctor regarding insurance prioritization or for changing medicine. I went back to the office and asked staff if doctor can send insurance prioritization or change the drops and call me back. I did not receive a call from them. read more

This place has gone down hill and I will never buy glasses here again. A few years ago I use to recommended it to a friends and would have give it a 4 or 5 stars, but after making my new glasses 3 times I'm done with them. ATTEMPT 1: The glasses were suppose to be done in 5 to 10 business days. After repeated calling after the 10th day, they arrived over 3 weeks after I ordered them. When I went in to get them I was very quickly fitted and rushed out the door. It wasn't until I got home and put them on again did I notice the prescription was _completely_ wrong. I called them the next day and that weekend I brought them back and my eyes were re-examined. Not once accepting the blame, they tried to say it on my eyes claiming they're overly sensitive (even though my prescription hasn't changed since middle school and I've never had issues in the past). Asked for a rush on the new pair and they said they'd try to have them in a week. ATTEMPT 2: 3 weeks later and I needed to call repeatedly to get status on them. I wasn't rushed out the door this time but it was the same wrong prescription as before and they made everything look like a fun house. Again after accepting no blame and doctor saying things like "your eyes just aren't ready for the right prescription" I got pissed and asked them to just give me the old prescription. They agreed and said they would put a rush on it. ATTEMPT 3: The glasses took about a week and the prescription was close but still off. So after nearly two months and three attempts, I have a prescription that isn't right. I'm done with dealing with them... I'll go somewhere else and get the lenses replaced. read more

I wanted to renew my contact lenses Rx here and couldn't do so because the staff was completely unknoweledgable about the price for service. The only thing they could tell me is that my insurance won't cover the contact lenses eye check part and for this I would have to pay out of pocket. They said it would cost me from $80 to $200. They deal with this type of services every day, how come they don't know how much it would cost to provide service upfront! given that I provided all necessary information. I have Santa Clara Family HP. And ended up getting my RX renewed at Lawrence Y Chen optometry in Palo Alto. They charged $80 for renewal. read more

Mostly I am rating this place on the great location, good parking, and aesthetics of the office. It's very welcoming and open inside, but I have to comment on the staff. There was only one girl who was actually somewhat warm and friendly.. Who actually noticed that I was waiting to talk to someone. Other than that, everyone just seems kinda pissed off! LIke they would rather be anywhere else. I know it's not the kind of place that you need super bubbly people, but a little enthusiasm wouldn't hurt. For instance, I only see the dentist twice a year, but everyone there is so welcoming and friendly that I would recommend it to everyone I know. Going off of my two experiences in this office, I don't think I would highly recommend it, but I did appreciate that they adjusted my glasses to fit me better at no extra charge. read more

The staff here is completely unknowledgeable regarding insurance. They will give you the wrong information. The eyeglass lens quality has gone downhill. My lenses were scratched twice in a year after replacement. I have had glasses pretty much my entire life and never had this happen (I didn't even drop my glasses). A decent place for an eye exam. The frames run about $200 and the lenses with anti-reflective coating about $250 after their discount; polycarbonate (impact-resistant) lenses add an extra $140. Total: ~$590 (without insurance). As a side note: Costco has frames for about $50 and lenses (standard with anti-reflective coating, scratch resistance, and anti-UV coating) for $59, upgrading to polycarbonate is only one dollar extra. Total: ~$110 (without insurance -- though Costco does take a handful of insurances). However, for eye exams, I believe Precision Eyecare Centers is the better place, simply as they have much more equipment than a typical Costco eye center and can do a very thorough eye exam with dilation -- before leaving, be sure to specifically request a doctor-signed printout of the new prescription. Whereas Costco eye doctors are actually contractors who come and go, this place has permanent doctors. read more

I have no idea why I haven't been coming to Precision Eye Center! I chose to schedule my mom's appointment at Precision because Precision is one of the few "premier" providers on VSP's list. This means Precision offers: (straight from VSP) - Available to all VSP Members - Wide selection of featured frame brands - Performance lenses for sharp vision - Preventative eye health and wellness program participant - Advanced eye exam technology Anyway, so I arrived with my mom to a very organized and courteous staff and a lovely facility. They explained that the doctor was stuck in unpredicted traffic and gave us some scheduling alternatives in case we were unable to wait. We chose to wait but it was really not much of a wait at all and the whole process was streamlined. (We made it to our next appointment with ease because they worked so efficiently.) Everyone, including Dr. Redman, was very professional and friendly with my mom, even with the language barrier. No sales pitches or gimmicks - just excellent care. I'm definitely switching to Precision Eye Center and highly recommended to anyone else in the Mt View/Los Altos area. It's located in the CVS shopping center, where there are plenty of food options and parking. read more
